So how is jetpack not fitting your theme then? If your characters that fly as part of their powerset take Fly or Mystic Flight and the characters that don't have flight as part of their powerset buy the jetpack, then things are already working the way you want. Characters that don't have flight as one of their own powers went out and bought a jetpack for when they suddenly find themselves needing it. It fits your theme then.
-
Huh, are you sure? Because I just visited the tailor and I can't even find Athletic Run to do anything with on a character I bought it from the vendor for. So I can't cusotmize my Athletic Run at all. How are you doing it? Yep, you can buy a Goldbricker jetpack and wear a Goldbricker jetpack to fly around and you can buy a Longbow jetpack and wear a Longbow jetpack to fly around and you can buy a Jingle Jetpack and wear a Christmas-y jetpack to fly around and you can buy a standard jetpack and wear a standard jetpack to fly around. All makes sense to me. So if you want a magic-themed jetpack, describe it and maybe the devs will make it. A no jetpack version of jetpack though is called Fly or Mystic Flight.

Do you know what the difference between buying Beast Run, Athletic Run, or Ninja Run versus buying Jetpack is? There isn't one. Beast Run locks your character into a bestial stance and movement while it is active, because it is a beast run. Ninja Run locks your character into a stylized anime ninja stance and movement while it is active, because it is a ninja run. Athletic Run lacks those factors because it is athleticism that is not on par with any super powers. Jetpack locks you into a jetpack because it is a jetpack. (Edit: If you want a flight power that you can customize, then take Fly or Mystic Flight.) All Temp Powers have a specific visual tied to their name and function. As for your Willpower Scrapper comparison? You are comparing a character's inherent AT powers to a temp power. Apples to oranges.
-
That is what the power slots are for.
-
Because you are buying a jetpack. It is not an inherent to character power. It is a jetpack you bought from a vendor.

I'm neither trolling nor lacking in understanding in this thread. My point is simple: If you want an alternate jetpack, then that is fine. Provide something to detail what you want. If you want no jetpack, then get Fly or Mystic Flight. To me, it's that simple. Why should anyone bother taking Fly or Mystic Flight if they can get the same power at a very slight increased END cost from P2W?
-
We have hoods. What's your point? (Edit: And hats and hoods are not the same thing.) Edit again: Look, if you want an obviously magic themed jetpack that is not the Jingle Jet, no one is going to say no. Describe it. Provide a picture of what you are thinking. Give a reference.
-
No, if you want alternate visuals for the jetpack, then fine. If you want no visuals, then use what we already have available. Fly and Mystic Flight have no required visuals.
-
Have you thought about the Kris Kringle jetpack ala the Holiday Rocket Pack ala the Jingle Jet available in the Pocket D chalet? It's a magic jetpack. (Edit: And it lasts for 30 days of use per purchase.)

The Incarnate system is needlessly complex and fussy

No. Just no. Just like I am opposed to combining all invention salvage into just Common, Uncommon, and Rare, I am opposed to generic-ifying incarnate salvage. Generic crafting is boring. -
Speedsters, Burst of Speed and a Speed Pool revamp
Rudra replied to Rigged's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Then either I respec'ed those characters and forgot, or something happened to my characters and not yours. Either way, like I said in the PM, color me jealous. -
No, with the request for a model-less jetpack, you are asking to get the Fly or Mystic Flight power without having to spend the power slot to get it. A natural character uses whatever that character's skills enable him/her/them/it to use. Doesn't matter if its magic, tech, Horror From Beyond Veil, or anything else. A mutant also uses tech. There is a dragon-themed villainous in Marvel comics who uses technology for her flight and her mutant powered blasts to attack. Science characters have no problem using technology. Technology is derived from science after all. Magic characters also use technology, though their power sources are arcane in nature. Technomancy is a thing. Same thing for characters finding, buying, being given, or otherwise possessing magic when their origin isn't magic. Same thing with mutation powers. Magic, science, and technology are commonly known to be used to cause intentional or unintentional mutations in others. So on and so forth. Your theme and the ability of your character to make use of available items in the game is entirely up to you, but to me, it looks like you are being willfully blind to just how expansive your theme actually is. Again, I am perfectly fine with alternate types of jetpacks. I would be very happy if the Void Skiff, Rocketboard, and Flying Carpet got the animations they needed to stop locking out player powers. A no jetpack version of the jetpack though is out of the question to me though.

Location AoEs also use the pet mechanic with their pseudo-pets. I agree with you that being able to improve the debuffs is preferred, by me at least, but what makes Storm Cell so complicated apparently is that it has multiple pet/pseudo-pet effects, so the devs locked out the always active and available effect for being able to be enhanced so that the sometimes triggers damage effect can be enhanced. I'm just hoping they find a solution fairly quickly so that the debuffs can be enhanced too. And given how damage focused some players are, I can at least understand why the devs did that.

This falls under the heading of 'So Disappointing I Just Want To Cry'. Thanks for the official answer though.

Change Machete to Gladius and you can call it the Roman Soldier set.
-
Barracuda's gimmicks used to be necessary to win. The devs changed that, back on Live I think, so that you no longer needed one of every type of AT to deal with the Reischmann at the end. You can just stomp him into the ground. (If the Barracuda SF is the SF I am thinking of....)

The OP works for me. Especially since I'm pretty sure incarnate Tsoo males have it already.

Speedsters, Burst of Speed and a Speed Pool revamp
Rudra replied to Rigged's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
(And while I'm nitpicking - nope. Still had at least one legacy character at shutdown with old-fitness. You just could never *respec* them without losing it. Just a historical nitpick. It confused a few people near the end to see it...) I'd like to know how you pulled that off, even though it doesn't matter any more. Eventually, even without respec'ing, all my pre-inherent fitness characters wound up with inherent fitness. It was rather upsetting at the time. (Edit: I was rather proud of several of those characters. Everyone kept telling me that specific ATs using specific power sets could not be played without the Fitness pool, and I very much enjoyed running those ATs with those power sets without Fitness. Since those characters didn't have the Fitness pool though, they automatically had it forced on them since they lacked legacy Fitness to prevent it.) -
Guess what. Your comment here is "argumentative" You don't get to decide whose input is welcome or whose is not. Everyone's input is welcome to any thread in these forums unless a GM or DEV decides otherwise. I missed that part. Thanks, @UltraAlt. As @UltraAlt said, @Mezicus, no one gets to decide who can or cannot post on a thread on the forums other than the devs and forum moderators/GMs. Posting on the forums is an open invitation for everyone to read and respond to the post. Whether they agree or disagree.

Did you have anything in particular in mind? (That usually helps get the ball rolling. I'm drawing a blank right now.)

I see Tankers more often than I see Brutes. And I see comments in chat to play a Tanker (instead of a Brute) when new players ask for help or when they ask if they should play a Tanker or a Brute, never advice for that player to play a Brute. I play Brutes because I prefer getting my attacks faster than my defenses, but that is me. So I just don't see what you are talking about. (Edit: And my brutes never have a full Fury bar. They stop gaining at 90% or so. And they routinely hover around 60% depending on map layout. And considering that Brutes have a lower base damage compared to Tankers specifically because of their Fury mechanic, and that Tankers can easily max out their resists whereas Brutes have to work at it, I am very opposed to your take on them.) I am intentionally avoiding the Rage discussion.
-
As often as Tankers have been buffed and Brutes have been nerfed since proliferation? Hell no. (Edit: Especially tying Brute Fury to their health. I hated Blaster's Defiance 1.0. I absolutely in no way want to see Brutes get a failed system in place of their Fury.) With the exception of Confront, Dark Consumption, and Soul Drain, every power in Dark Melee has a -ToHit component. Shadow Punch, Smite, Shadow Maul, Siphon Life, and Midnight Grasp all impose -5.63% ToHit on affected targets. Touch of Fear imposes -11.25% ToHit on affected targets. You can slot all 6 of those powers with ToHit Debuff or Accurate ToHit Debuff enhancements/sets to make those -ToHit effects even more effective. Dark Melee is fine with its -ToHit. There actually are missions that send players into those zones. Some are instanced missions so players just race to their mission and others are street sweeps so players avoid them. They do exist though.

The Incarnate system is needlessly complex and fussy
Rudra replied to FFFF's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
The part that has anything at all to do with the comment you quoted and responded to. Fun fact. Anyone can become an incarnate. Just playing the game, not doing iTrials or WSTs, you still get enough threads and merits to fully T4 any character you play just by virtue of playing. You get incarnate xp to unlock your abilities regardless of what at level foes you fight once you get to 50, even if you exemplar down to do Flashback missions. You get threads from defeated enemies once you get to 50. You get merits from doing varying tasks. You get threads and merits from the vet level system. So even a character that a player runs with no effort to becoming an incarnate will have all the resources they need to be a fully T4'ed incarnate. So how is the incarnate system not designed so just anyone can become an incarnate? -

Rudra replied to FFFF's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
The incarnate drops in other parts of the game, other than incarnate Trials, mishes and Task Forces, are awarded for completing things. Complete a story arc, complete a Task Force or trial. If your play style is just joining pick up teams and you are never around for completing contacts, you are correct, you will never receive incarnate drops. How does "I rarely if ever do TFs" translate to "I join PUGs and quit before anything ever gets turned in"?
