Fire manipulation from that site: Also Called Pyrokinesis Flameokinesis/Flambokinesis Agnikinesis/Agnimancy Flame Control/Manipulation/Dominion Ignikinesis/Ignimancy Fire Element Control Capabilities Users can generate, shape, and manipulate fire, the rapid oxidation of a material in the exothermic chemical process of combustion, releasing heat, light, and various reaction products, flame being the visible portion of the fire. Depending on the substances alight, and any impurities outside, the color of the flame and the fire's intensity will be different. The user can also completely control the temperature of the fire at will. Fire Manipulation as used in comics and super hero games since the dawn of comics: Create fire, shape fire, manipulate fire (increasing/decreasing size of effect), move fire, maintain fire (without need for available fuel), absorb fire, extinguish fire, project fire (as projectiles), enflame (wrap in fire without causing harm to target), warm target (including cooking), cauterize wound, enhance melee attack (armed or unarmed, as per enflame), illumination, and propulsion. I'm sure I'm missing at least a few other uses. None of which are covered by your precious wiki as part of fire manipulation. Would you like me to pick apart your precious wiki's empathy entry next? Gravity manipulation? Darkness manipulation? Or the medical entries I already pointed out in this thread? Super powers are only as limited as the individual's imagination. They are not bound by some poorly written wiki. And neither is CoX. As was previously stated up thread, CoX was based on the Hero System Champions pen and paper game. It is not the same, but it was based on it. (And given how expansive the Hero System is compared to the wiki? I'll take Hero System over that wiki any day.) However, this is a video game. Video games cannot be as open-ended as the Hero System is. (I think the devs tried to make it so, but couldn't do it.) So you wind up with thematic sets that are basically a single solitary power that the character develops into up to 9 different uses. Which is also far more comprehensive than that wiki you insist is the reference for everything, even when those things predate the wiki by decades.
-
No, not the same as the wiki. And that wiki has no correlation to what can, cannot, should, or should not be done in CoX. You can use it as a reference, or handicap in my opinion, of what powers can do. That's your choice. However, it is not a valid reference for anything in CoX. Not for whether or not Numina is a mage because she lacks a physical body (she is a mage despite lacking a physical body) or if she is a ghost for lacking a physical body (she isn't, she's an astral projection). Not for whether any powers or power sets are "correctly named" or "correctly utilized" in CoX. Not for whether or not a power set is or is not magical despite not having magic, arcane, eldritch, or anything else of that nature in its name. Not for anything in the game. At all. You can use the site as a reference all you want. Do not seek to require others to abide by it as well. Just as you using the site as a reference is your choice, not using it is everyone else's choice.

And Snow Hopper for logging out at the shadow shard style vent that launches you back up! 😄 Seriously? I like that. Ski Patrol and Lodge Lounger works for me.

It is very different from the wiki. The wiki tries to be an expansive list of all thing super, but is instead a lesson in nonsensical hilarity. It wants to be an authority on all things super, but fails at it. Not least of which is because someone somewhere has a different idea of what powers are and do. The people who imagine and write up their powers? They aren't constrained by what someone else writes on a wiki. They are constrained by their ability to create, innovate, and imagine. Edit: If you want to constrain yourself to what others tell you is a super power, how it looks, what it does, how it can be applied? That's fine. Your choice. If you want to constrain yourself to using that site as your end-all-be-all reference for all things super? That's fine. That's your choice. If you want everyone else to be likewise constrained? Well, now we have a problem. That site has nothing to with City of Heroes/Villains. It has nothing to do with Champions Online. It has nothing to do with DC Universe Online. It has nothing to do with anything super character related other than itself. It's that simple.

There's too much push back when people ask for instant 50's, but if we instead ask for instant 40s, then surely we can get that and then push for 50s since we have 40s? ... ... ... ... ... ... No thanks. PL'ers can already effectively crank out instant 50s. Use the existing process.

How About an Option option for Group Fly?
Rudra replied to Attache's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
So does everyone else. "All Blaster <insert task>!" "All Controller <insert task>!" So by that logic, all ATs should have an option to be excluded from doing things. -
How About an Option option for Group Fly?
Rudra replied to Attache's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Even as a joke, that sucked. -
What would be the point of having every mission rez the character at the entrance? It works for trials and some TFs/SFs, but makes no sense in general use. Do you just hate the in-game hospitals THAT much?

How About an Option option for Group Fly?
Rudra replied to Attache's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Personally, I think henchmen and pets should be able to inherit the character's travel powers. That would probably take away Group Fly's last use though. -
Hey! That's the same argument that was given the last time this was brought up! Are you that same person just re-posting this? Prohibiting players from using the hospital does not add, reduce, or otherwise affect difficulty. If you want a defeat difficulty? We already have it in the form of limited and no deaths options. The hospital is something that is used when the character is defeated. It has absolutely no impact on what happens in a mission until the player is defeated. So it is not a difficulty option. Neither does prohibiting its use promote teamwork. And the last person to use the difficulty option argument basically wanted it to be able to punish players that dared be defeated in the mission. So: NO.
-
From the people who imagine it and then write it up. You think the writers and artists that made comics had some wiki to go to? You think new characters are made using some wiki? They are made from the writers' imaginations. And that is where their powers come from.
-
This again? Why? Why should players not be allowed to go to the hospital upon defeat?

Master of the Eden Trial is Extremely Melee Unfriendly
Rudra replied to Astralock's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I haven't done the Crystal Titan trial since Live. From what I'm reading though? ... I agree with @Shadeknight. A trial/TF/SF should not be designed to punish an AT for daring to be that AT. ((MMs already have that stigma.) Players can run ranged only, melee only, desired AT only runs. That is their choice. That is how they wish to experience the content. It should not be an imposition from the game however. So why were the ambrosia's nerfed? (I never used them on Live, I would dart in and out as a melee to avoid being hit if I could, but that doesn't mean I understand the need to nerf them.) -
Thank you for putting the emphasis on the site's editing. Here's something for you to consider: wikis that allow anyone to edit are often garbage sites. That was the problem wikipedia had for a while. It allowed anyone to edit it because that was figured to be a good way to get relevant information out to people. Except it became full of misinformation, disinformation, and flat out made up garbage. So who can edit wikipedia now? The site's moderators/editors, and no one else. That super powers wiki is full of attempts to make a single power look like its several powers instead of a single power used in different ways. (Or just the same power given a different name.) It's full of entries where you can see people are adding things for the sake of being able to say they added something to the site. So that site is a very poor reference for what the various super powers are. Especially in the context of CoH which obviously uses a different approach to defining super powers. (You know why a super powers wiki typically fails? Because there are as many different super powers that exist as the person can imagine. And they can even have the same name, but be completely different. And that is before you even get into the failure that the super powers wiki you like to cite is in and of itself.) Hmm. Maybe this thread should be renamed the super powers wiki debate thread since that seems to be the focus of the thread now.

New "paired" explore badges for other echo/standard zone pairs.
Rudra replied to Greycat's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Yeah, it's the last mission map in the 2nd arc for both the Shining Stars and Hearts of Darkness story lines. Except, it is only an instance map with 2 of the meteors and no explores. For this to work, Galaxy City as a zone map would have to be made for the explores to be added and have content run there. A new incarnate zone, this time as a full-fledged hazard zone, would be rather interesting. Except that in those missions, the Neo-Shivans are apparently gone. There are in-mission comments that there is still an Arachnos presence in the area (to recover the meteors for some reason), and there are hints of a Longbow presence and possibly even unnamed heroes looking for missed survivors. So I'm not sure how to turn it into a real hazard zone at this time. And besides, I think a dev or GM already said that it could neither be confirmed nor denied that the devs are already working on something with Galaxy City, so I guess just sit tight and see what happens. -

There is no pairing for Galaxy City, so there is no pairing badge name. Aside from that? I really like your name ideas. -

Atlas Park: The Constant Rikti (war zone/crash site): Alien Hunter or Stoic Defender Faultline: Stilled Earth or Ruptured Past Dark Astoria: The Sundered Veil or Oppressive Darkness Galaxy City: Tutorial doesn't have an explore and is not accessible in Ouroboros even through the introduction arc. ... meh... I thought I had some clever ideas for names, then brain dumped them when I started writing this post. Sorry. -
I would say though, that if the badge name is Snow Bunny, it just be Snow Bunny. Bunnies aren't just females after all now matter what zeitgeist may say, or they wouldn't still be around. Otherwise, if Snow Bunny is to be kept for females only, then I would make the male version Snow Rabbit. So the badge name is still effectively the same thing for both genders. Edit: Or if Snow Man is preferred for males, then Snow Woman should be the one for females.

The Once And Future King/Queen. Lord/Lady of Storms. The Underlord/Underlady. Lord/Lady of Winter. What's that about badge names not having gender?

Can We Get a Version of AE Farms "Legitimized"
Rudra replied to Zeraphia's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Or... make the character on the test/beta server as an instant 50 and find out what you do or don't like about the character before investing all that time and effort in making the live version only to be disappointed. -
It is one take on super powers. It is not CoX's take on super powers. It is also fairly ridiculous. For instance: https://powerlisting.fandom.com/wiki/Blood_Clotting The Blood Clotting power! Also Called Bleed Stop Blood Stop Capabilities The user has the power to stop themselves or others from bleeding. Or as most people I know call it: First Aid. That site has so many gradations of powers, it boggles. A lot of which are simply the same thing except from a different source. Such as: Medical Mastery Medical Torture Mastery Medical/Lab Device Manipulation Medical/Lab Weaponry Proficiency Medicine Creation Medicine Manipulation Let's see... Hmm... Medical Mastery? You're a doctor. Medical Torture Mastery? You're an evil doctor. Medical/Lab Device Manipulation? You're a doctor or nurse or tech. Medical/Lab weaponry proficiency? You're a doctor, nurse, or tech improperly using your tools intentionally to cause harm. Medicine Creation? You're a pharmacist. Medicine Manipulation? You're a doctor or pharmacist. (Edit: Most of those powers could just be called Medical Skill, though 2 could instead be called Medical Abuse.) Yeah, that site's a joke and a half.

I don't use my /dark powers except for Shadowfall until a fight goes bad or looks to be difficult. As for their low defense prior to the buff? My ninjas had a high survival rate compared to other MMs I played with. It's a question of how you build and play. The Tornado power and Photon Seekers can slot the procs because they can slot the sets. They can slot the sets because they do damage. Maintenance Drone (and Dark Servant) don't do damage. That negates the benefit of 4-5 of the enhancements in each pet set. As opposed to a single proc in each set that I don't see any PB or controller slotting into their Tornado or Photon Seekers. So there is no justification for allowing Maintenance Drone (or Dark Servant for that matter) to be able to slot pet sets that don't do anything for them. That is like asking to be able to slot heals into your attacks. The MM primaries each have their little tricks. They don't all need to be able to slot the same way, and they should not slot the same way. (Edit: Parity does not require them to all have a proc mule. Parity requires they be able to perform more or less equally using their own tricks.)

I never said that you, @WumpusRat, said that. I said that I was being told by everyone that Mercs was a garbage set. Those were in game comments being made to me about Mercenaries. There are also lots of comments here on the forums about Mercenaries being worthless compared to every other primary for the AT. Some of the MM primaries may exclusively only do very commonly resisted damage, but with the sheer number of attacks the MM gets without ever clicking an actual attack, that resisted damage doesn't seem to matter. Back on my ninja MM, because it is my favorite and except for the oni, it does all smashing or lethal damage, which are both heavily resisted damage types. And my level 50 ninja/dark MM is often killing entire spawns faster than my friend's equally capable, level 50 bots MM. Neither of us see any real difference between our damage outputs. Also, for all that lethal and smashing are commonly resisted damage types, I don't hear anyone complaining about the thugs set. As for the difference between Tornado and Photon Seekers, those do damage. The Maintenance Drone does not. The pet enhancement sets bolster damage and accuracy, neither of which can affect the maintenance drone. Here's something for you to consider: The Dark Servant power summons a timed duration pet that debuffs enemies and heals player(s) and pets. And yet, it can't slot pet enhancement sets either. Because it doesn't do any damage on its own. Just like the Maintenance Drone. Building a character is a matter of give and take. MMs can no more slot their pets for maximum efficiency and power any more than any other AT. Neither are they reduced to slotting for less than the other ATs. You want to limit your pets to 4 enhancements each? Be my guest. Build your MM how you want. If you want to slot the Achilles' Heel enhancements into a defense debuffing pet? Go right ahead. You just want the proc? Then you are choosing to give up the set bonuses just like you would with any other AT's attack powers. Build for damage with your pets. Build for defense. Build for whatever you want. You have to pick and choose how to build though. That is part of the game. For MMs and every other AT.

War Witch was resurrected at the end of the Night Ward arcs, in the battle against Lamashtu and Soreress Serene. And Red Widow is alive. The player actually resurrects her, which is the reason for the ritual you are left to figure out how to do on your own.

Good point. Didn't think of that.
