  1. That's a man speaking from experience.
  2. That's part of my problem. I don't entirely know. Doctored Wounds was my first pick because I was just kind of frankenslotting, getting the best enhancement bonuses for the lowest investment of slots, because, while I knew I didn't entirely have enough slots to go around at lower levels, I didn't know which powers I'd need. It's my first time playing regeneration and fiery melee. But as I've gotten to level 43 now, slots aren't quite the sticking point they once were. I still haven't figured out an attack chain. By this time on most characters, I kind of have an idea of which attacks I use most often, but with fiery melee it just feels like button mashing.
  3. He solos fine and he's one of the few characters I have that can actually get all of his toggles back up before the untouchable portion of Revive wears off, but I don't really have any particular build goals. He's an meta-concept of "I'm going to fail all the missions I can possibly fail" combined with "Well, if I play a character who just makes really bad decisions all the time, maybe I can stomach doing some of the creepy villain arcs.
  4. I don't know, getting a character to level 24 in a week seems like you're either not really getting a feel for the character or kind of unreasonable.
  5. Yeah, I'll be able to use Temporal bomb right before or after I use poison trap. Truth be told, when I say "surprise nightstar" I haven't actually been on a BAF yet, I'm only level 38. I've used Trip Mine a bit while trick or treating, but I never remember to lay trip mines and pull enemies to them when I'm soloing. I did get duray to half health just by sitting at his spawn point and laying trip mines and poison traps until the rest of the team had defeated enough turrets
  6. All of her attacks (except for caltrops) do -def, so you might be better off with oranges if you're not already at 90% resist lethal. If you find yourself running out of inspirations you can e-mail yourself some before the fight and just load up your tray from e-mail.
  7. Envenomed Dagger. Edit: the "taking no damage" might be an issue you have to reset the mission for, and you might have to kite Silver Mantis a bit while Unstoppable is active just to keep refreshing the envenomed dagger -regeneration.
  8. If they're not going to make a Rikti Monkey archetype, they should at least make a Rikti Monkey prestige power.
  9. The broker doesn't know you, doesn't know what you can do. A contact system is based on trust. A Broker is not going to send business your way without reason. Their reputation for being able to make the right connection is on the line.
  10. A sword is Tech origin. It is a lever. A gun is science, it uses chemical fuel to propel a projectile.
  11. Well, the presence pool did get a rework too, it's just that provoke was left alone. At launch, the presence pool only had four powers: Challenge, Provoke, Intimidate, and Invoke Panic. The rework dropped Challenge from the Presence Pool and picked up Pacify and Unrelenting. They just didn't really change any of the existing powers during the rework.
  12. I'm not sure that most people end up using all four power pools these days. But I'll agree that Provoke should get another once-over. When it was set to use and accuracy check to taunt, Tanker's taunt didn't have -range. Also Tanker's taunt was still single target so the Provoke pool was just about mandatory for tanks back then. So it got hit pretty hard. Since then, however, Taunt and Confront have improved. The to-hit check in PvE seems unnecessary, and the -range would be nice, but could be limited just to the target if they're worried about it.
  13. I'm almost certain that Afterburner was on the live servers and both Gadgetry and Utility Belt were still in development afterwards. I think that Gadgetry and Utility Belt are still in development now. I remember a post about the first page 7 test build where Gadgetry was accidentally available for players to select.
  14. With the change from Time Bomb to Temporal bomb, I need to change my build. The question I'm stuck with is "what do I drop to pick up Temporal bomb" My options are: Tactics: This has five slots slots so I wouldn't have to free up any other slots. Triage Beacon: Also five slots and I don't think I'd notice it missing for probably 95% of play. Trip Mine: It's fun, but I've only really used it to surprise Duray and Nightstar. Summon Disruptor: I'm like, 80% sure it's reporting all of my activities to Arachnos.
  15. Well, you know what they say: "There's no hell crueler than the one that you make yourself for Snarky."
  16. Well, the problem with the Brute is that you neglected your secondary. Your mastermind, I don't play masterminds a lot, but seems like you've neglected most of your summons, and I have played Nature I do feel like you shouldn't need Aid Self or Aid Other. The arachnos soldier, you didn't neglect your defenses, that's good, but you absolutely should not have six slots in combat training: Defense and you have almost no slots in your attacks. There are also ways to get knock-back protection. On your current build, it'd be easy to throw a Karma: Knockback protection in Combat Training: Defense and a Steadfast Protection: Knockback Protection in Wolf Spider Armour.
  17. In his teens it wouldn't have been Kuh'Rekt. I can't think of any mission to get Positron in the teens, even if he shows up in a Mayhem Mission, Steel Canyon is 20-25. There is the Shining Stars arc in the teens and I can see confusing Proton for Positron, but I think those guys downgrade to lieutenants. The New Praetorians have a bunch of missions against the council, so you'd have hit Maestro, the Nosferatu guy whose name I forget at the moment, the woman at the end of Moonfire.
  18. With the "just about all the story line quests ended with fighting these." and level 40, I'm definitely convinced these are all downgraded AVs. Blueside 35-40 is where you start getting these arc ending archvillains. It's where I had to start putting a team together to finish arcs on my Dominator.
  19. I'm pretty sure I solo'ed the "Nemesis Invades Atlas Park" mission set for "No Bosses" at x8 and got Fake Nemesis Lieutenents still. Honestly, with the Brute, I'd say you've slotted your offense too heavily and you should have invested some in defense. Regeneration is kind of thought of as the worst Brute secondary and you can't neglect it like that. If you want to neglect a secondary, I'd recommend Bio Armour or Radiation Armour.

  21. It's a taro based paste.
  22. Everything I said was directed entirely at Rudra and your response is kind of nonsensical because of that. Hence the "a few decades" because Arcane casters have been a thing since at least third edition (with Arcane Lore meaning "Lore having to do with magic" since at least "The Complete Bard's Handbook" for AD&D published in 1992). Edit: It does talk about Wizards learning arcane languages in the core AD&D rule book, but that's arcane in the sense of archaic, esoteric, or lost languages. Languages that are really uncommonly spoken in current times.
  23. I'm guessing you used the Merriam Webster dictionary. But language is use and City of Heroes has strong Dungeons & Dragons influences and there "Arcane Casting" has a very distinct meaning. Perhaps "Occult Casting" would have been better, but we're a few decades late to that discussion.
  24. Yeah, there are definitely similarities. I suppose the difference would be the reasons for the trip. In a low level Incursion From Above, a group of Power Division Initiates could gather because the Resistance delved too deep and too greedily and encountered Devouring Earth they shouldn't have, and they've been sent to investigate what happened to the the police that had gone to arrest them. The Resistance would have a side mission of recovering supplies, the loyalists would have a side mission of collecting records. Edit: Imagine a whole room full of of Geode Shards, like tiny parody of the final chamber of the Eden trial.
  25. Well, the recharge time of combat teleport is fast enough that the Chance for build-up is going to be kind of unpredictable, though I haven't done my reading there, and it could be that since it has three uses per recharge, it might have three times the proc rate that you'd expect from something with a recharge of six seconds. That said, I'd still rather have the chance for build-up in Build-up. My critique of the build is actually pretty similar to Striker Fox, but you and I have a different build philosophy, so I don't really feel entirely justified in any criticism I might be tempted to give.
