Don't feel bad about this, because that arc is tough. Freaks are annoying, especially when solo, melee, and without countermeasures. They self heal, rez, and drain your endurance. That's a big yikes. I might edit this later when I'm in front of a computer with more detailed feedback if you're interested (I've clocked a lot of time on INV/SS, SD/MA, & WP/MA Tankers as well as a SS/WP Brute), but I think you've gotten a lot of good suggestions here already.

I feel like the best approach is to see what the game offers as tool to use or not to the best benefit of your roleplay. I think and others habe alluded to the same. Your critique of the system as a "handwave" resonates with me, but I'm willing to cut it some slack when we consider the context of it's initial implementation. Again, as you mentioned, at first it seems brilliant. Certainly as a gameplay system it was part of a larger trend at that time to punish players less for failure and allow more risk taking in play. Perhaps later on the novelty wore off, and the logic faded. Especially when we consider the system makes far less lore sense in the CoV context. But then, the devs probably had very little reason to change the system by that point. Back to my first thought, and to answer you question, I think it's fine. I usually see a trip to the hospital as an embarrassment for me simply in the metacontext of not being better prepared for an engagement. It's rare that I don't have at least 1 super wake in my mailbox. During PUG RP, I'll often do as Sovera mentioned and try to quip something while on the floor to convert the negative momentum into something entertaining. In organized group RP (which I haven't done for a very long time now) I simply went with what made sense for the group. Often times it was allowing my character to be "rescued" by a team mate and having to shrug off the damage, ala MCU. To each their own, and one of the nice things about our setup here is we have so many tools to continue a character's story (or not!) after a down. If you want to avoid a trip to the hospital, it's well within your control so as to not break immersion. Just need to plan ahead a bit.

End PL allow characters to begin at 50
twozerofoxtrot replied to MsSmart's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I think you understand it correctly. Fully kitted 50s exemped to lvl25 (for example) retain a lot of power because of all the set bonuses they can have active, on top of a few other odd duck things like a lvl 49 Kick power pick still boosting a level 16 Crosspunch pick. The argument seems to be less about playing the content (or not) as opposed to playing the content at the point when your character feels the most absolutely powerful. -

My error, then. -

I did and my point was in refutation of yours: that people are conditioned to behave on forums a certain way because it has traditionally gotten them what they want. -

Perceptions aside, Faultline plays on Everlasting under @Faultline. He's pretty easy to find and ask what's going on. BTW Sovera and Shade, who both mentioned his taking a break, also play on Everlasting. It's not an inner circle when you can chat with a Dev who is open with their game accounts. -

This is Bopper. This is literally Bopper, and Burk, and Keen, and Elmyder and all the other number junkies. They are definitely heard when they speak. -
Gander again, I want the Dom version to look more like the controller version, as I've mentioned in every reply.
-
I agree with this, but I think your main argument that the power does: ..is hyperbolic and as such not very likely to encourage the changes you're looking for. A gander at CoD shows it's a change of two powers and the loss of taunt. The lower damage also distinguishes it but pointing to your response above different damage across AT expression of powers isn't enough. Anyway, I'm still of the mind that changing the name is not a good way to go, and would rather have the power look more like the Controller version but without the taunt.

Poll: Base Editor Changes We'd Like to See
twozerofoxtrot replied to Dacy's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Personally I'd like a save/load state feature, even if it only had one slot. That way you could go in and tinker, and if you realized you totally made a mess of things you could reset the base to the saved state. No idea how'd this would work but if it was similar to saving costumes that would be really nice. Especially once people figure out how to edit the client side file to tweak their bases to perfection. -
Prohibit Power Pool Pre-requisites Please.
twozerofoxtrot replied to Aracknight's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Not going to lie, I loved this feature in other pServers I played on that had it. But those servers didn't suffer from the wild power creep that i25 codebase in particular does. Especially with regard to attuned set slotting while leveling. I like the idea but hard for me to endorse it. I'd feel like a politician voting to give myself a raise. -
Big agree. It'd be really nice if ;sitchair3 and ;sitbench2-4 had actual different poses for females like they do for males.

I vote Penny Yin for Freedom Phalanx Class President!

I disagree slightly with OP. Keep the name. Amp the damage and drop soft controls. Examples of powers with the same name but adjusted function: Follow Up Claws vs Widow: Widow has a small toxic dot and slightly less damage boost Spin Claws vs Widow: Widow has a small toxic dot, and less overall damage. I'm sure there's way more, but just off the top of my head. There's president for keeping the name the same with adjustments to the power.

I think ASF is categorically better than any TF/SF from live and I even tweeted at Matt Miller what a great time it was, from the gameplay to the storytelling. He was so ashamed that the old live team couldn't produce something as good that he never even responded to my first, second or next fourteen tweets after that. The silence is damning.

You don't have to! There is an excel that Bopper made that will do the calculations for you, if you put in the detailed data. Don't recall where I got this originally but I use it so much it's got a permanent spot in two different google drives: Copy of Bopper's CoH Tools and Formulas.pdf

This is incorrect. The two effects are different from each other, and both have a chance to be applied to each target without overwriting each other. This would however occur if you fired another power with the same procs and they were applied to your target. So for example: Cutting Beam > Tsoo Sorcerer Annihilation Proc: Lands Achilles Proc: Lands -then- Overcharge > Tsoo Sorcerer Annihilation Proc: Lands, overwrites previous application and restarts timer Achilles Proc: Misses cause you get the idea.

Vanguard Merits have transitioned from a semilegal fiat currency to full cryptocurrency. You will now need significant computing power to complete a ledger transaction when turning them in for rewards.

Nothing at all! Just trying frame the bind text somehow. Brain is running on empty right now. Also... you're welcome!

This, and in addition Speed of Sound's Jaunt function. I personally prefer Jaunt to Combat Teleport (tho I love both) because it animates faster and has a longer range. This, combined with Speed of Sound's speed increase, really lets you zip around the battlefield. In fact I love them both so much, my default keybind for the T key is [$$powexeclocation target Jaunt$$powexeclocation target Combat Teleport]. Just so that I have it handy on any fresh character I roll.
