What are players thoughts on Seismic blast?
twozerofoxtrot replied to KaizenSoze's topic in General Discussion
I think Seismic gets its mileage when ignoring the built mechanics and just maximizing proc opportunities. Procportunties? Upthrust in particular has a deceptively high proc rate. I don't think mids accurately reports it, maybe because of the slow 'projectile?' It's the star of the set for me. After Meteor that is. I've only played it on an Seismic/Earth blaster but I messed around with it a lot in beta and took it from 20ish to 50 on live. It won't win awards for outright damage but certainly keeps pace while offering some of the best secondary effects possible. -
Star Wars: Andor on D+
twozerofoxtrot replied to ThaOGDreamWeaver's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Good. It's not for them. This one is for those of us who enjoyed movies like Patriot Games. Plenty of other stuff in the Star Wars / Disney / Streaming Media landscape for them to enjoy. Move along, this is not the show you're looking for. 👋 -
Whether you do or not is certainly up to you but you always try to keep it up, and if possible double stacked. The reason being that AD contains a nice chunk of Defense Debuff Resist and it stacks on itself. With all your sources running and AD double stacked you should be around 85 DDR at level 50.

KM and DB are pretty rare... I don't know why necessarily DB would be but I agree in that I don't often see it in the wild. I'm leveling an SR/Sav tank right now so I see that one a bit more often. 😉

Not while leveling, and not when doing incarnate or hardmode content. It's a nice bonus. What gets forgotten about MA's AoE is that it's very fast at 1.5sec animation time. A base recharge of 14 seconds means it's easily up every 3-4 seconds for use. With a 75% chance of knockdown it's a great mitigation tool. I have an SD/MA and WP/MA and it was a really comfortable ride leveling both to 50.

Yes. There are Regen Brutes who main tank on Homecoming. Absolutely not. Between Taunt, Punchvoke, and your Aura the only thing pulling agro off of you is a Tanker or maybe a very punchy Bio Scrapper.

Perhaps we're thinking about the Rikti Blaster weapon customization for the Robotics Pulse Rifle?

As someone who left Torchbearer myself my take is this: Torch was the first server up, and while the rest turned on in a few days that first rush of the community that had tracked the SCoRE story in March(?) all had to roll up there, and of course the shard ballooned to become the most populated. Then two things happened. First, Everlasting and Indom received their "Unofficial" statuses. This resulted in people who wanted to be part of those communities migrating away from Torch, and likewise of course the handful of European players who moved to Reunion. Thus the first migration. Next, as time went on the novelty and nostalgia of CoH's revival petered off, people who had started up on Torch that first week moved on to other games, other priorities. The population began to drop, and if you didn't consider yourself an RPer or a PvPer then the only other logical option as Excel. Even when people came back from sabbatical they may have moved to Excel just to stay with the bulk of the population. Torch has had the ignominious distinction of being the "shrinking" server for literally years now. Thus the second migration. Anyway just my fan theory after seeing the demographics shift these past 3.5 years.

Someone lied to you. Cliquish? Maybe with regards to roleplaying styles. But I play mostly off hours and am certainly not in anyone's clique and have no issues starting groups, or seeing most teams fill out in a few minutes.

Super Strength for Scrappers, Stalkers, and Blasters (as a secondary set with appropriate tweaks). Frankly, it's way overdue. Regeneration for Tankers. Seems popular; for good reason. Energy Aura for Tankers. Let's not kid ourselves with how overpowered it might be. What's underpowered on Tankers? Due on theme alone.

Best (and worst) thematic powersets
twozerofoxtrot replied to pawstruck's topic in General Discussion
Hot take 🔥 but I think Super Strength is mechanically the worst representation of its theme. Not to be confused with having the worst mechanics. When one imagines the vast breadth of Superstrong characters in all of illustrated fiction, how many of them hit like a wet noodle unless they pump up on RAGE, only to deflate again in a few minutes and become even weaker and more defenseless than before? Superman? Hulk? Rogue? All get their super strength from different places, and Hulk even rages in a way that makes sense in a pre i24 Rage 'fix' way, but none of them access that power in a way that aligns with Super Strength on Homecoming today. The current incarnation of the Super Strength is thematically way out of bounds. If you don't pick up a single power you're basically Super Normal. -
Siege's (and other War Walkers') faces...
twozerofoxtrot replied to biostem's topic in General Discussion
They are phased radar array panels. -
Saw your question in Help chat last night and I'll answer the same as I did then: both are good. With a little more detail: Fire/Fire is optimal if you're going for a max overkill, highest damage possible blaster. This may not be ideal for you depending on your playstyle. You will get the most out of it running Hot Feet and casting Burn in melee. Fire/Temp is likewise very strong, and doesn't require quite as much aggression to play smoothly. You're going to have less AoE to work with, and it won't be as optimal, but it should easily hold it's own again other Blaster combos. Even though/Time has good melee attacks it's a better fit for a ranged/hover blaster than /Fire.

This hits a lot harder since the Sonic rework, and still stacks -Res debuffs (albeit differently). Cold/Sonic feels great to solo with. I'd say it's competitive with Cold/Water now, though it's not a 1-1 comparison. Check out Linea's Time/DP which they either posted in the front of this thread or um Well somewhere else in this forum. Shouldn't be hard to find.

Can Hurricane get the same treatment as Repulsion Field
twozerofoxtrot replied to plainguy's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Quite right. We should reverse the repel direction, rather than get rid of it. -
The 'Share your awesome bios' Thread!
twozerofoxtrot replied to GamerKate's topic in Art & Multimedia
My Fire3 Dom is sort of an expy of Madelyne Pryor, but drafted from the Redside clone arc as if the character had been one of the enemy clones from the Army of Me badge (which she does wear), but defeated the original villain instead. no idea why the darned screenshot turned out so dark but oh well. -
A Pretty Damned Spectacular Guide on Leveling with IOs and IO Sets
twozerofoxtrot replied to Yomo Kimyata's topic in Guides
No, you're not. Asking questions is good. Here's how it works: Auto powers aren't static. They are basically like toggles in that they roll their effects over time; you just don't see that and they can't be turned on and off (except with the specific power that turns all other powers on or off). Each time the auto power activates, it has a chance to proc the power slotted there. So let's take your example of the Numina Proc and slot it into our good friend Health. As you can see from the linked page, Health activates every 10 seconds. Numina is guaranteed to proc at least 3 times a minute, but lasts for 2 minutes. You're reapplying Numina's proc bonus to yourself, which will never wear off because it lasts so long and will just keep reapplying itself. -
I don't think it's intended as a buff for Invul, or the other sets affected. It was to prevent them from being effectively nerfed by the typed damage changes. If we're talking about Invul being tough beforehand I'd agree and posit that Psi really didn't pose any serious threat to Invul taking advantage of IO resist bonuses in the first place. My tanker ran at 55~ Psi Resist before? The only time I felt affected was running the New Praetorians arc at +4. So that said I'm hard against tweaking other sets because Invul and EA weren't nerfed by the typed damage changes. If we're buffing Elec Armor then give Invul a version of Energize and a damage aura, etc. It becomes an arms race.
-
Hard to disagree but I really think this is a direct consequence of IOs like Impervium Armor being introduced that specifically addressed the Psi resist deficiencies. Kind of a hard thing to balance because in the absence of IO slotting you've got scant Psi protection compared to the other types and you're still at the mercy of attacks that only have the Psi tag and no positionals. So personally I'd rather they land on too strong than not strong enough and penalize players without a comprehensive knowledge of IOs and where to squeeze them to get the most Psi resist juice.
-
It's not really the best for Invul but it is a generally damned good set, for all the reasons Supertanker listed. I want to believe the picture is sort of a meme. Not that 5 slotting 5 copies of Unbreakable Guard would cripple your tanker, but you're probably overinvesting slots at that point cause you'll have like 150 SL Res and that's just a waste. That said, my own slotting isn't radically different. So maybe not a meme. By the way, @Marine X not only did they add Psi Resist to the set, but Toxic Def is a thing now and Invincibility now stacks it (in small amounts, same with Psi Def).
