Focused Feedback: Role Diversity Bonus
PeregrineFalcon replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
No. This is not controversial. This is a feedback thread and some people are for it and some people are against it. No one is angry, none of us are "haters", no one is "gatekeeping", etc. Some of us are just against this particular feature for the logical and rational reasons that we've stated. Wow. It sure is weird all of these accounts that I don't normally see just coming out of the woodwork to comment in this particular thread. Not other threads, not commenting on other subjects, just showing up to comment in this particular thread and no other. It's almost like the call went out to come here to this particular thread and defend this feature. This thread has far more posts, especially if you include all of the hidden ones, than any of the other focused feedback threads. Before my post gets deleted ask yourself why that is. -
How would you know how many people were logged onto the retail servers? I don't remember Cryptic or Paragon ever showing those numbers. Did you work for either company? If not then how do you know what the numbers were?

Let's just call it City of Heroes...?
PeregrineFalcon replied to BurtHutt's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I seem to remember that the name was originally City of Heroes Homecoming. Then the name, and the URL, was changed and we were told that it was done as part of the negotiations with NCSoft. Based on that, I'm going to guess that the name isn't going to change further because this is the one that NCSoft has approved. -
Well... you're nothing if not consistent. I'll give you that. Just FYI, the reason that so many of us were pushing back in the last thread you started is because we knew that this update was coming.

You have to set your pets on "Defensive Follow". Then, and it takes a couple of seconds for them to complete the switch, they will start taking damage for you if they're within Supremacy range. I'm at work now or I'd write you up a keybind and macro for it. I recommend checking out the Homecoming wiki.

Thank you very much for keeping City of Heroes alive, and for continuing to develop it. I know that I am, and will always be, very critical of every update to this game. I don't do this because I'm a "hater", as the kids say. I do it because I really do enjoy City of Heroes, I'm grateful that it's back, and I want to see Homecoming become the best iteration of the city that it can be. Peace.

Focused Feedback: Role Diversity Bonus
PeregrineFalcon replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
You think so? There's two active threads on the forums right now where people have been asking if Enhancement Diversification is still a thing. Do you think 18 years is a reasonable timeframe to figure something out? I saw a posts a week or two ago where someone who has played for years said that they didn't know that they could mail Reward Merits to their other characters. I think it's safe to say that after years of gameplay they're no longer new players. -
Focused Feedback: Role Diversity Bonus
PeregrineFalcon replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
You don't need a doctorate in economics to see that increased supply lowers the price. This, along with the fact that new players won't even know they can sell PAs, defeats Cobalt's stated purpose of getting more Inf in the hands of new players. -
Focused Feedback: Role Diversity Bonus
PeregrineFalcon replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
But it's not just one Prismatic per day. It's (1 Prismatic/day) x 1,000 players x 1,000 days = an extra 1,000,000 Prismatics in play after less than 3 years. And that's exactly the argument people will make if you try to take it away from them. What's 1,000,000 Prismatics x 3,000,000 Inf? That's what they cost on the market currently. That's a lot of Inf changing hands. It will have an effect on the economy. And none of you know what that effect will be. Finally, if it's such a tiny amount that it doesn't really matter, then why are people trying so hard to make sure that this feature makes it into the game? -
Focused Feedback: Role Diversity Bonus
PeregrineFalcon replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
There's no need to implement another in-game system to reward diversity. We already have two, time and success. Diverse teams are already more likely to succeed and in a shorter time frame than badly composed teams. Encouraging more diversity with more in-game rewards will also encourage toxic behavior as people strive to enforce the requirements to get that extra reward that you're offering. And, according to your own admission in this thread, too much inf is already a problem and this will only exacerbate that. -
*sigh* The Homecoming forums are going to be nothing but juvenile NSFW jokes for the entirety of 2024. You kids get off my lawn!

Remove Containment from Controllers
PeregrineFalcon replied to Blackfeather's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
You clearly didn't read a lot of the posts in this thread. A lot of people, including myself, made posts that very constructively and specifically outlined why the OP was a bad idea. Getting offended on behalf of the OP, and telling people what they are and aren't allowed to post, isn't going to help you get a Junior Forum Moderator badge. Like I said earlier, feel free to report my post if you disagree.- 22 replies

Your character has to be at least level 25 for Rikti or Zombies to port in and focus on you.

Remove Containment from Controllers

Welcome to the suggestions forum, where your idea will be subject to a trial by fire. I can get you a tissue if you need one. A post by a moderator in this forum specifically says that we are allowed to disagree with suggestions. Feel free to report my post if you disagree.- 22 replies

Redside... Best side? Right??
PeregrineFalcon replied to Dev Unitas's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
The zones are visually unappealing. Dark, dingy, dirty, and the sky is always overcast. Multiple psychological studies have shown how this adversely affects people and makes them uncomfortable enough to leave an area. The stories are horrible. I wanted to play Dr. Hannibal Lector with super powers, instead all I get to play is barely-super lackey and every contact I talk to is like "Go do this stupid mission that I don't want to do, and then make me a sandwich, b*****h." Villain characters can't do anything villainous. I actually talked with Positron about this in the retail forums. We can't beat up pedestrians and steal cars like in GTA. We can't make plans to take over the world, or Arachnos, or anything else for that matter. No villain secret lair in a hollowed out volcano, on an island, or hidden under the ice in the arctic. Instead, we spend most of our time attacking other villains, that makes us different than heroes how exactly?!? The ability to kill civilians in Mayhem missions (the only villainous thing you can do) was only added to the game after The Snap. Make several entirely new story arcs, starting around level 10 or so, and go all the way to 50. A player could choose to start one arc, and one arc only. One might be the "World Domination" arc. Another might be the "Depose Lord Recluse and take over Arachnos" arc. Another arc might be the "I just want to build a secret base in a hollowed out volcano and sacrifice people to the ancient gods" arc. And these arcs should have the villainy turned up to 9 or 10. Darren Wade should be shown in a cutscene going "Daaaaaamn! I can't believe you actually did that." You know, actual villain stuff. I know that I'm talking about a ridiculous amount of work. But, without that, and a ton of time and effort to advertise the new arcs to the players, villainside numbers will never increase. -

Are Sentinels as bad as I'm hearing or is it trash talk?
PeregrineFalcon replied to ShadesofDawn7971's topic in Sentinel
Sentinels were pretty bad but no longer. A year or so ago they got a damage buff and their inherent was also improved. They now do almost as much damage as Blasters. And no, Blasters are NEVER more survivable than a Sentinel. End game Blasters can slot a bunch of special IOs that seriously increase their ability to survive. But you can slot those same IOs on a Sentinel, which adds those IO bonuses to the armor that a Sentinel already has. Whoever told you all of this isn't even giving you old info, what they've told you is just straight up wrong. Roll up your Iron Man character and have fun!- 27 replies

Remove Containment from Controllers
PeregrineFalcon replied to Blackfeather's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Your suggestion will result in Controllers being less able to control, but being more like Blaster or Dominators. You clearly don't like Controllers, go play a Blaster or Dominator. Don't make a Controller and then complain "I don't do enough damage." If you want to do damage play a Scrapper or Blaster. If you want to Control stuff then play a Controller.- 22 replies

Thanks for that, High Beam. Man, it's been a long time since I've seen those trucks. *signs for fuel delivery* Ok, Comet I'm sorry that you're still upset over Enhancement Diversification. I don't think that anyone was happy with it, for a lot of reasons. However... None of us had anything to do with it, we're players just like you are. The current developer team didn't have anything to do with it either. Yes, the game is very playable and enjoyable. It's been explained to you multiple times in this thread that with IOs and Incarnate powers you can make your character just as powerful as they were before ED, except for the aggro limit. It happened 18 years ago. Get over it already. Walk it off.

I'm generally on Discord with my friends while I'm playing. Every time we get a cutscene a friend of mine does funny voices for the various speakers. His "voice over" of the Frostfire cutscene is hilarious!

Branching out to being the Hero/Villain you want to be
PeregrineFalcon replied to luficia's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
It just seems sad to me that you'd rather go to all of the effort to create another account, and level up a bunch of characters, just so you don't have to team with another human being.
