  1. An SR tank? SO's only? You all gotta be kidding me. 🤣 I remember the painful leveling experience my MA/SR Scrapper was, back on the retail servers. I loved the character, but her absolutely sucking wind by the end of every fight was the reason I started reading the forums in the first place. An SR tank would be worse. Slower and with even worse end problems because of the lower damage. Remember that SOs only means no End Procs, no Miracle and/or Numina's +End, nothing. Try it. You'll love how your end bar disappears before the fight's even over. And yes, I do have an MA/SR Scrapper on Homecoming. And it's just as bad now as it was then. SOs only your best bet is a something/Willpower Brute or Scrapper. Willpower is tough, on Scrappers, and you won't have to worry about endurance problems until you fight Super Stunners, Sappers and Carnies.
  2. I would truly like to see a memorial for Heraclea in either Cimerora or Echo Plaza. Maybe a "Hall of Fallen Heroes" in Echo Plaza? A memorial for Heraclea could be placed inside, along with others that the community feels belong there. It would also provide a place for future memorials to be placed. It's a sad fact that none of us will make it out of here alive. How we handle that fact is what makes us heroes, or not. Until we meet again Steve, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
  3. I know for a fact that they did. I remember the final days of the CoH forums, right before The Snap, and a lot of ordinary forum folks posted that they were or had been devs on the game, and what they did. In some cases they even posted what their dev name was. No, I didn't take any screenshots because everything was about to be closed down so there didn't seem to be any point to doing so. I wonder if any of those posts from the final days will show up in the Wayback Machine?
  4. Sure. I actually understand your point, and I never intended to imply that you had some sort of malice or ill intent. I said in my initial reaction "Not picking on you specifically Arcane...", and I even acknowledged that I overreacted a bit. But, you claim to have no ill intent, then you wrote this: That certainly sounds to me like you're upset about this thread. Can you understand how it might be reasonable for some of your fellow humans to think that you might have some ill intent based off of posts like this? My actual stance isn't as far removed from the devs' as you might think. I would argue that if one power set is way overpowered compared to others then there is a victim, in a sense. Yeah, it's a video game so there are no real victims here, but you know what I mean, and I can't think of a better word to use. Anyway, I'd argue that the 'victim' of the 'crime' of an overpowered set are those people who'd like to play something other than Titan Weapons (before its well deserved nerf). They'd like to try Ice or Street Justice but they don't want to play a character whose TTK is significantly longer than TW. So, since they don't want to under-perform, they only create/play TW characters. That's certainly a problem for the players. Using inspirations from your in game email though is something that anyone can do with any character. Now I agree that it does kinda feel like cheating and if the devs decided to change it so that people can't access their email during combat, or in an instance at all, I would feel like it was something that I couldn't complain about. However, none of this changes my stance that some things are so minor, and/or don't affect others, that they fall into the "Why are you complaining about this, Karen?" category. I don't intend any insult to you Arcane. I just feel that this applies here and I just can't think of a more clear way to explain it than to invoke the legendary Karen.
  5. OMG, isn't that the truth? I actually think that no one should ever send a PM to any of the devs unless they've found a major exploit that allows them to create a billion Inf out of thin air, or like the one that lets you cancel animations in PvP. Even then it's probably just best to open a support ticket.
  6. I hope that this is the metric that the devs use to balance the power sets. Without the addition of Epic pool attacks of course.
  7. Am I the only one who likes the fire swords and wishes that all of my Fiery Melee attacks could have them?
  8. I've been very consistent. A crime should have a victim in order to be a crime. And an exploit should have a victim, or cause an issue with the game, in order to be an exploit. Anything else is just Karens crying because "Those kids opened a lemonade stand without a business license! Get 'em, officer!" So what if he is just trying to establish "bragging rights"? So what? Have you soloed an LRSF? I haven't! He did. Good for him. He accomplished something I haven't and probably couldn't. Frankly he deserves some bragging rights, even if he did decide to go and thumbs down half the thread. 🤪
  9. Lady Jane? Ok, that's true. But I can't believe that we're talking about crazy aggressive NPCs getting themselves killed and no one's mentioned the OG, Fusionette! 😃
  10. The only controller that I've liked enough to not delete is my Gravity/Storm controller. And I've never understood why the AoE Immob from Gravity doesn't prevent knockback. I would understand if the Rings of Fire from Fire didn't prevent KB, or Electric or Psychic, but this is Gravity. If any set locks you to the deck it should be GRAVITY.
  11. Skyrim is a good answer to that question. There are ways, even without mods, to work your way up until you're completely overpowered. It doesn't matter though because it's a single player game. Want to be completely OP? Ok, whatever. No one cares. Because it doesn't affect anyone else. However, if you're on a team and they can't do anything because you're so OP that you keep AoE Nuke/one-shotting every single spawn before they can even get to them then yeah, that's a problem. That's the kind of thing that causes people to log off and unsubscribe. Skyrim has been very very popular for a couple of years now. They're still selling copies of it. So obviously the ability to become OP isn't a problem for it. Perhaps that's where the idea that being OP doesn't matter unless it affects other players. From actual real-world experience.
  12. Wait, what?!? See, now we're right back where we started! Quit trying to nerf my characters and just go play the game on Mega-Death difficulty, or whatever it's called. 🤬 There! There's the angry emoji I was looking for earlier!
  13. Ok, I deserve that. Clearly I was being an idiot and missing an important point. But maybe now you can see why I didn't think it was an issue?
  14. Wait, you can claim inspirations from your email during combat? I actually did not know that. I don't know why I thought you couldn't claim things from email during combat, but I did. Yeah, I can see where that's an issue. I do agree that the game shouldn't be made easier. And I see your point. I always thought that the real reason that we couldn't access the Auction House inside a mission was so that we couldn't load up on inspirations inside a mission and that the "it won't work inside an instance" was just an excuse. I still think there's no reason to stop allowing people to fill their email with a bagillion things, but I would understand if the devs changed it to not allow email access inside of missions. I guess it boils down to how much effort a player puts into making the game easy. Sure I'll buy Amplifiers when I'm level 1 and they're cheap, they make early leveling more fun and they usually last me until level 20 or so, but I never buy them after that. Too expensive.
  15. Ok, setting the salience of existence aside for a moment. Didn't you and I have a discussion awhile back about people trying to discourage certain play styles and how you didn't like that because you feel that it can drive people away? Isn't your stance against inspirations in email and multi-boxing essentially the same thing? Doesn't your stance on this violate your precept of "And it harm none, do as you will"? Look, I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm asking these questions honestly. I'm horrible at being subtle. If I was trying to be a jerk you'd know. Not that you'd actually care Bill, but others might.
  16. Ok, fair enough. So what's the difference between: Teammates buffing me and keeping me at the caps. Multi-boxing and my other accounts buffing me and keeping me at the caps. My Huge Inspirations from my email keeping me at the caps. What do you have against my Huge Inspiration?! 😄 (Sorry, couldn't resist.)
  17. Bill, you know that you and I mostly agree that game balance is preferable and even on what it should be. We've talked about this. The problem is that I just don't see how having a couple of inspirations in my email affects game balance. Everyone can do it. That's balanced. Am I being an idiot? What am I missing here?
  18. My post was a tiny bit hyperbolic, without a doubt. And it's quite possible that, due to the constant "game too easy bruh!" threads over the last two years, that I overreacted to your post. However, I still think that my post is accurate. I fully believe that people who try to get stuff nerfed that isn't an issue, for no good reason, when they know full well that it's going to upset people = schadenfreude.
  19. What's "common sense" about trying to get something nerfed that isn't broken and isn't breaking anything? I equate your attempt to balance the game (in this instance) by forbidding inspirations in email with the neighborhood busybody who calls the police because a couple of 8 year old children have opened a lemonade stand in a residential area without a business license. Is that technically a violation of the rules? Sure. But who benefits when the cops show up and shut down a lemonade stand and tell those kids that they can't sell lemonade without a license? Who benefits from that? I know that Karen gets a warm fuzzy feeling when she sees the sad looks on the faces of those kids when the cops close that lemonade stand down. Is that what you call common sense? I call that schadenfreude.
  20. Good morning, Vlardoom. Let me see if I can touch on all of your questions. Accuracy enhancements do what they say they do. Just FYI, you almost never want more than 1 of these in a power. Defense enhancements lower the chance an enemy will hit you. All enemies have a 50% chance to hit you, and you subtract your defense from their chance to hit. So if you have 10% defense then the enemies will only have a 40% chance to hit you. Also, their chance to hit you cannot be lowered to under 5%. So 45% defense will lower their chance to hit to the 5% floor, which is why 45% is called the "soft cap." Endurance Reduction enhancements reduce the endurance cost of your powers, both click powers and toggles. Endurance Modification enhancements increase your endurance recovery and increase the amount of endurance you drain from enemies, if you have a power that does that. Heal/Absorb enhancements increase your Regeneration, which is hit points. And increase the level of Absorb you have, if any. Recharge enhancements reduce the time it takes a power to recharge. The formula is complicated. More is better. Resist Damage enhancements lower the damage from a hit by a %. So if you have 25% resistance to lethal damage and a Council Raseri Nacht Ubermenchen Heckenschutze hits you for 100 points of damage then you'll only take 75 points of damage. Also, there is a thing called "Enhancement Diversification." It's not mentioned anywhere in the game, but it's a very big deal. Short version, you should never put more than 3 of the same type of Enhancement into a power. Certain enhancements are crafted, they are called Invention Origin enhancements. Some of those are part of a specific named set. They work pretty much like equipment sets in other MMOs, the more of a set you have equipped the more of the set bonuses you'll get. I don't understand what you mean by "power secondaries." Incarnates are a long story. I recommend reading this thread by Robotech Master (/e salute).
  21. Are you a game developer? Is my having a couple of inspirations in my email wrecking your game? Is it affecting your paycheck? Not picking on you specifically Arcane, but what is it with you internet Karens now days? "The game's in a good spot so let's see if we can talk the devs into nerfing some stuff. That'll show those filthy players! And your little dog too!" Geez. You all got your Hard Mode, remember? After years of thread after thread after thread where you all tried desperately to nerf my characters, and make the entire game much harder, you finally got your Hard Mode. Now please, go play your Hard Mode and stop trying to get stuff nerfed!!! Man, it's too early in the morning and I haven't had enough coffee. I really need more coffee. And why is there no angry face emote? Oh, I can't have an angry face? Might offend someone, huh?
  22. The one he got over Macho Grande? 😁
  23. Once again, no. Murder in the first degree is with premeditation. Murder in the second degree is without premeditation, but it's still murder. *sigh* I can't believe I'm having to explain this to adults. Do they not teach any of this in school any more?
  24. No. Killing is not always wrong, murder always is. The definition of murder is "killing without justification."
