  1. A lot of super hero comics and movies would start with the iconic hero stopping a pair of muggers or something equally non-challenging. This would introduce the audience to the character and allow them to see how powerful he is without having to do any exposition. And it usually looked cool. Like the scene where a robber's bullet bounces off of Superman's eyeball. But you won't feel super if the enemies just ramp up without any option or choice. One of the mistakes that a lot of D&D DM's make is always ramping up the enemies to keep them on par with the characters. So fights never get any easier. So people don't feel like they've leveled up. They don't feel more powerful at 15th level than they did at 5th because they still just barely survive every fight. So it's best to have both challenging content and easy content. Sure I can get my friends together and we can go do a challenging 801 AE mission and have fun doing it. And sometimes we can go and beat up a bunch of council just to feel super. TL;DR: I'm glad the challenge mode will be in the game soon and I'm glad that normal "easy mode" content will still be there as well.
  2. First, thank you for responding. And thank you explaining rather than getting defensive and/or attacking me. Secondly, perhaps then an in game email, perhaps sent automatically when the ticket gets closed, that says "A GM has read your report." At least then people wouldn't feel that the reports are just being ignored and/or not read. Please remember, it's not that players are making baseless assumptions. Players will often star and/or friend the account they've reported. Then, when they see the account is still online days later, it appears that no action has been taken. We're not in the loop so we can only make decisions based on available information. And finally, I want to say thank you to you, and to the entire Council of Thirteen, for keeping Homecoming up and running and still alive with updates.
  3. I'm really looking forward to this challenge mode hitting the live servers. However, I hope that the mods and devs are already prepared to deal with the following: Don't make this game about the trinity again! Why can't I PUG on Mega-Death difficulty!?! It's not fair that Sentinels get a mez toggle and Blasters don't! All character should immediately get X temp power when zoning in to a mission that's set on Mega-Death difficulty! Sentinels don't do enough damage! The devs are trying to force me to get on Discord and actually *gasp* talk to other people!!! ZOMG! Mega-Death difficulty is waaaaaay too hard!!!!111eleventyone111!!!!
  4. Oh, I never thought of that. Can I get @Yomo Kimyata to finance a build for me? I love the Cascade Archipelago. And I even know how to get to it! 😄
  5. Completely understandable. Is there any chance we could get a time machine, or time portal, or something for bases that will allow us to attach Cimerora and echo zone beacons to it then?
  6. Because this is a super hero game and people want to be SUPER. Agreed. And the developers know this too which is why the new "Challenge Mode", or whatever it's being called, is going to be hitting the live servers in a few days. That was never the problem. The problem was the people spamming the forums with threads about how they wanted the entire game to become more challenging. A lot of us do not want the game to become more challenging for our low level, or non-optimized, characters simply because the game is too easy for IO'd out incarnates. The soon to be released Challenge Mode fixes the problem of the game being too easy for incarnates without wreaking the game for characters who aren't at that level yet. This was an incredibly good idea on the devs' part and I'm glad that they were able to add it to the game. Once it goes live though I'll just be waiting for the new threads demanding that Challenge Mode be set as the default mode for the entire game. You know it'll happen. I've already got money bet on it.
  7. So making people angry actually increases my rep? Oh geez. No wonder why my rep count is so high. .
  8. Which is exactly why sending an in game email from a GM to the reporting player with a "He's been warned" or a "He was given a time out" or something like that would fix that problem. The system breaks down because you GM's refuse to disclose if any action is taking place, we can't see any action taking place, so it feels like no action is taking place. Every single time I log on to Siege I constantly see "xXxRacistNamexXx was banned by Battle Eye" fly across my screen constantly. You know what I know about Siege? I know for a fact that if I do anything stupid I'll get banned by Battle Eye. Everyone knows that. Here, everyone's convinced that nothing happens because they only see nothing happen. The system breaks down because of your rules, GM Kal. Will you ever consider changing your rules? No? Then the system's going to keep breaking down. You could fix it, but you won't. That's on you.
  9. No, you're probably right. It's almost certainly long time players who are complaining about the game being too easy after they've gotten their characters to tier 4 incarnate with all +5 purple set IOs.
  10. I just want to thank the Council of Thirteen for listening to our feedback and reverting the changes to the P2W Amplifiers.
  11. When the forum update hit a couple of days ago we had forum badges that were displayed. Then crybabies cried that it'd create a class system where their precious opinions would be ignored because they weren't part of the Forum Illuminati, and they'd be gulaged, and it wasn't fair, etc, etc, etc. So the devs canned the whole thing about 15 minutes later. .
  12. Yeah. Sarcasm doesn't come through in text form. May I recommend that, in the future, you add a smiley or a (j/k) or something to the end of your post?
  13. I also still see the number of posts and reputation under the avatar pic, just like before. I wonder if there's an option that you need to check, or uncheck, that will fix this issue.
  14. No, worse than that. After they get PL'd to 50, after they get the perfect Alpha-God build from the forums, then they play a little while and then come to the forums and post "This game is too easy, brah! Nerf players! Nerf softcap! Nerf IOs. Nerf whateverelseIthinkistheproblem!"
  15. I don't usually agree with Snarky, but when I do it's because he's right. The devs should at least address this in the forums one way or another. If they're not going to change Rage then at least let us know that.
  16. I disagree with the changes to the P2W Amplifiers. In my opinion the costs should remain the same and neither they, nor any other power/temp power, should be able to be paused.
  17. Fly is simply the better travel power and I have it on a lot of my characters. But Fly is boring. Superspeed is fun. It requires just a little bit of getting used to, a modicum of skill and timing. And, unlike Fly, you actually have to actively pay attention to what you're doing when you use Superspeed. Also, with the new jump ability that they've added to Superspeed, it's much easier to use. But definitely have a Jet Pack for the Shadow Shards.
  18. Personally I learned to really dislike Psi Melee. The animations are slow and clunky and the damage just wasn't great. I suspect that, once you try it, you'll find that the sound FX isn't actually the worst part of the set. I'm thinking about trying a SD/SS Tank. Shield Charge + Hand Clap (with a KB>KD IO) + Foot Stomp just sounds like a ton of fun.
  19. If Microsoft actually does this, or leads a group of companies to do this, they'll find a way to **** it up and/or overly monetize it. I know, I know. But it's early. Just let me have my Captain Obvious moment, ok?
  20. So first you ask me to define a common word, that you should already know the definition of, and then you criticize the dictionary definition and criticize me by calling me a "clueless loon." Yeah. We clearly can't have a meaningful discussion on this no matter which definition we agree upon.
  21. I agree with you on this. This also seemed to be the driving force behind the change/nerf to Rune of Protection. The devs flat out said that they didn't like low level characters having permanent mez protection. The devs have said that they aren't going to raise the minimum difficulty, so those people who want easy mode will still have it, but they kinda are increasing it with these changes. And the devs are obviously focused on making content more challenging for Incarnates.
  22. Per Webster's Dictionary: Broken damaged or altered by or as if by breaking, such as having undergone or been subjected to fracture a broken leg not working properly of land surfaces : being irregular, interrupted, or full of obstacles a long broken ridge violated by transgression : not kept or honored a broken promise discontinuous, interrupted a broken sleep disrupted by change Is there some reason you couldn't have googled the word? That's all I did. The amps ain't broken. They work properly and they aren't discontinuous or disrupted.
  23. It's not "how some players take it." It's that regardless of the stated reason for this change, this is the factual effect that it will have. As a rule I'm always against "fixing" stuff that ain't broken. This isn't broken so I don't understand why the devs are spending the time and effort to suddenly "fix" something that ain't broken.
  24. Nah. In order for this to be the Star Trek Online forums the devs would have to spend a few years flat out lying to us that they're actually creating content for one faction, and then never do it, while the mods ban hammer anyone on the forums that complains about it. And then the publisher would wipe the forums and then the devs would spend the next couple of years denying that any of that happened while the mods ban hammer anyone who links to the quotes on my web page proving them wrong. At least that's the Star Trek Online forums that I remember.
