  1. Look, I get it. Level 50 noobs make PuGing more difficult and/or annoying. As someone who PuGs a lot with my main, a tank, I agree with you that noobs can make playing the game aggravating. Lowering AE and/or radio mission XP won't help. They're not the problem. The problem is that people now days think they know everything and won't listen to others and refuse to admit that they're even capable of making a mistake. Look, I work at a law firm. Every day I talk to people who say stupid things to me like "That's illegal!" And I usually respond with some variation of "What exactly is it about your part time job stocking shelves at Walmart that leads you to believe that you know more about the law than I do? What's next? Will you be going to a doctor's office next and giving them advice on how to perform surgery?" Now, years ago, when I gave this little spiel people would calm down, admit that they were being silly, and then actually listen to me. Now days people just get upset, say that I'm rude, and demand to speak to the manager. Then I give my best cheshire cat grin and calmly explain that I am the manager. My point is that stopping farming and PLing and killing AE experience and preventing insta-50's and whatever else isn't going to have the effect that you think it will have. None of these things are going to magically make players smarter or more willing to listen to direction. There's only one thing that's going to make your teammates smarter and more fun to play the game with. Make friends. Trust me when I tell you that if have a couple of friends that play the game with you then you'll completely stop caring about what other people are doing in the game. You won't care about PLing or farming or anything else. And you'll be happier for it.
  2. My main, an Invul/EM tank.
  3. Apologies. It has been stated in this thread, but no, you did not say that. Sorry, I should have been clear about that. And while the numbers for SR are normal, it's an end hog in my experience. The increase in attack speed coupled with its lack of end mitigation or recovery, and MA's near lack of AoE, is probably the cause of the end problems that I've experienced.
  4. Yeah, you're right. 1 End Redux in all attacks and toggles is standard for me, but I guess I'll just have to double up on that since SR is such an end hog. I'm honestly not sure if that'll be enough to fix the endurance troubles of my SR scrapper, maybe I'll find out this weekend. I do know that a single Performance Shifter proc wasn't enough to fix the end issue. So with the end issue addressed that just leaves the claim that Tankers on SOs can clear spawns/missions faster than Brutes and Scrappers because of the damage and AoE buffs. I honestly don't believe that this is even remotely true. Does anyone have any data to the contrary?
  5. I'm at the office so I couldn't tell you, other than the fact that I have an End Redux in every attack and every toggle, plus 3 End Mods in Stamina.
  6. Thanks for taking the time to show me that, Bill. I don't think survival will be the problem though, I think the blue bar will be. Are you telling me that low level SR tanks clear entire missions faster than scrappers do? I've never played SR with SOs below level 20. However, my current MA/SR Scrapper is SO only and has serious end problems. I still think that's going to be the major issue of anything SR that's SO only. High def and HP on a tank won't help that. And you think MA's cold, try AK. .
  7. Where I come from phrases like "put your money where your mouth is" and "it's on you to provide the proof" are simple statements that are neither friendly nor hostile, they are simply part and parcel of normal conversation. My experience has been that people who get upset and accuse people of being hostile, after being called on their statements, are merely "tone policing" in an effort to not have to prove their unbelievable claims. "I would believe your facts if not for your hostile tone" is a tactic I've frequently seen used as justification to dismiss facts that the complainant dislikes, or doesn't want to admit are true, or to keep from having to admit that they were wrong and that the other person is right. Being upset or offended doesn't change whether someone's argument is correct or not. It doesn't change the numbers no matter how much the "tone of voice" upsets you. In short, facts don't care about your feelings.
  8. As am I. I just read Hyperstrike's posts and felt/heard/whatever no hostility in his posts. If you're hearing an angry or hostile "tone of voice" in your own head when you read his posts, remember that that "tone of voice" is in your own head, Krazie. That being the case, there's nothing that Hyper, or anyone else for that matter, can do to keep you from hearing hostile voices in your own head, Krazie.
  9. I've wanted this for a long time. It would provide more content for players to play by not having them out level contacts. The story arcs should auto exempt people to the max level of the arc once they entire the mission, just like Oro does. The problem2 with Oro is that not all of the missions are in Oro, just certain arcs, and that people can't join in once an arc's started.
  10. That's exactly the entire point. The OP is specifically asking about SO ONLY BUILDS. I play, as I said, mostly with SO only builds. And with SO only builds tanks do not clear spawns faster than brutes or scrappers. I'll stick with my original suggestion. A Willpower Scrapper or Brute. You won't have problems with either mezz or endurance. In fact, unless you're fighting Super Stunners, Malta or Carnies, you pretty much won't have any problems at all under +2 x4. As for your primary, I'd say that depends on what you want to play. Dark, Broadsword and Katana will make you tougher by handing out -ToHit (Dark) or +Defense (Broadsword and Katana) Super Strength is great fun, but you're stuck with playing a brute then. Martial Arts, Street Justice and Energy Melee are fun, but lack AoE, so you'll solo slower. Although EM is really a boss killer now that it's been fixed. I don't know enough about the rest of the primaries to have a viable opinion. .
  11. Wait, what? Do you guys even play the same game that I do? My main is a tank. I also have other tanks, and brutes and scrappers. Most of my characters have either SOs or level 25 IOs (which are slightly weaker than +3 SOs). Tanks do not clear entire groups faster than Scrappers or Brutes. Faster than some Stalkers maybe, but my friend's Elec Sentinel clears spawns faster than my EM tank does. Look, I know that a lot of ado had been made over the tank buffs and how it's unbalanced the game and etc, etc, etc. But the people who don't read the forums probably don't even know that tanks have been buffed. The "legendary tank buff" just really isn't that noticeable, and my tanks are not clearing entire spawns faster than Brutes or Scrappers.
  12. An SR tank? SO's only? You all gotta be kidding me. 🤣 I remember the painful leveling experience my MA/SR Scrapper was, back on the retail servers. I loved the character, but her absolutely sucking wind by the end of every fight was the reason I started reading the forums in the first place. An SR tank would be worse. Slower and with even worse end problems because of the lower damage. Remember that SOs only means no End Procs, no Miracle and/or Numina's +End, nothing. Try it. You'll love how your end bar disappears before the fight's even over. And yes, I do have an MA/SR Scrapper on Homecoming. And it's just as bad now as it was then. SOs only your best bet is a something/Willpower Brute or Scrapper. Willpower is tough, on Scrappers, and you won't have to worry about endurance problems until you fight Super Stunners, Sappers and Carnies.
  13. I would truly like to see a memorial for Heraclea in either Cimerora or Echo Plaza. Maybe a "Hall of Fallen Heroes" in Echo Plaza? A memorial for Heraclea could be placed inside, along with others that the community feels belong there. It would also provide a place for future memorials to be placed. It's a sad fact that none of us will make it out of here alive. How we handle that fact is what makes us heroes, or not. Until we meet again Steve, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
  14. I know for a fact that they did. I remember the final days of the CoH forums, right before The Snap, and a lot of ordinary forum folks posted that they were or had been devs on the game, and what they did. In some cases they even posted what their dev name was. No, I didn't take any screenshots because everything was about to be closed down so there didn't seem to be any point to doing so. I wonder if any of those posts from the final days will show up in the Wayback Machine?
  15. Sure. I actually understand your point, and I never intended to imply that you had some sort of malice or ill intent. I said in my initial reaction "Not picking on you specifically Arcane...", and I even acknowledged that I overreacted a bit. But, you claim to have no ill intent, then you wrote this: That certainly sounds to me like you're upset about this thread. Can you understand how it might be reasonable for some of your fellow humans to think that you might have some ill intent based off of posts like this? My actual stance isn't as far removed from the devs' as you might think. I would argue that if one power set is way overpowered compared to others then there is a victim, in a sense. Yeah, it's a video game so there are no real victims here, but you know what I mean, and I can't think of a better word to use. Anyway, I'd argue that the 'victim' of the 'crime' of an overpowered set are those people who'd like to play something other than Titan Weapons (before its well deserved nerf). They'd like to try Ice or Street Justice but they don't want to play a character whose TTK is significantly longer than TW. So, since they don't want to under-perform, they only create/play TW characters. That's certainly a problem for the players. Using inspirations from your in game email though is something that anyone can do with any character. Now I agree that it does kinda feel like cheating and if the devs decided to change it so that people can't access their email during combat, or in an instance at all, I would feel like it was something that I couldn't complain about. However, none of this changes my stance that some things are so minor, and/or don't affect others, that they fall into the "Why are you complaining about this, Karen?" category. I don't intend any insult to you Arcane. I just feel that this applies here and I just can't think of a more clear way to explain it than to invoke the legendary Karen.
  16. OMG, isn't that the truth? I actually think that no one should ever send a PM to any of the devs unless they've found a major exploit that allows them to create a billion Inf out of thin air, or like the one that lets you cancel animations in PvP. Even then it's probably just best to open a support ticket.
  17. I hope that this is the metric that the devs use to balance the power sets. Without the addition of Epic pool attacks of course.
  18. Am I the only one who likes the fire swords and wishes that all of my Fiery Melee attacks could have them?
  19. I've been very consistent. A crime should have a victim in order to be a crime. And an exploit should have a victim, or cause an issue with the game, in order to be an exploit. Anything else is just Karens crying because "Those kids opened a lemonade stand without a business license! Get 'em, officer!" So what if he is just trying to establish "bragging rights"? So what? Have you soloed an LRSF? I haven't! He did. Good for him. He accomplished something I haven't and probably couldn't. Frankly he deserves some bragging rights, even if he did decide to go and thumbs down half the thread. 🤪
  20. Lady Jane? Ok, that's true. But I can't believe that we're talking about crazy aggressive NPCs getting themselves killed and no one's mentioned the OG, Fusionette! 😃
  21. The only controller that I've liked enough to not delete is my Gravity/Storm controller. And I've never understood why the AoE Immob from Gravity doesn't prevent knockback. I would understand if the Rings of Fire from Fire didn't prevent KB, or Electric or Psychic, but this is Gravity. If any set locks you to the deck it should be GRAVITY.
  22. Skyrim is a good answer to that question. There are ways, even without mods, to work your way up until you're completely overpowered. It doesn't matter though because it's a single player game. Want to be completely OP? Ok, whatever. No one cares. Because it doesn't affect anyone else. However, if you're on a team and they can't do anything because you're so OP that you keep AoE Nuke/one-shotting every single spawn before they can even get to them then yeah, that's a problem. That's the kind of thing that causes people to log off and unsubscribe. Skyrim has been very very popular for a couple of years now. They're still selling copies of it. So obviously the ability to become OP isn't a problem for it. Perhaps that's where the idea that being OP doesn't matter unless it affects other players. From actual real-world experience.
  23. Wait, what?!? See, now we're right back where we started! Quit trying to nerf my characters and just go play the game on Mega-Death difficulty, or whatever it's called. 🤬 There! There's the angry emoji I was looking for earlier!
  24. Ok, I deserve that. Clearly I was being an idiot and missing an important point. But maybe now you can see why I didn't think it was an issue?
  25. Wait, you can claim inspirations from your email during combat? I actually did not know that. I don't know why I thought you couldn't claim things from email during combat, but I did. Yeah, I can see where that's an issue. I do agree that the game shouldn't be made easier. And I see your point. I always thought that the real reason that we couldn't access the Auction House inside a mission was so that we couldn't load up on inspirations inside a mission and that the "it won't work inside an instance" was just an excuse. I still think there's no reason to stop allowing people to fill their email with a bagillion things, but I would understand if the devs changed it to not allow email access inside of missions. I guess it boils down to how much effort a player puts into making the game easy. Sure I'll buy Amplifiers when I'm level 1 and they're cheap, they make early leveling more fun and they usually last me until level 20 or so, but I never buy them after that. Too expensive.
