  1. True. But since reporting people to the mods hasn't gone their way lately they have no choice but to try to shame people by accusing them of "gatekeeping" and "white knighting" and "speaking for everyone" and etc etc etc. They can't just argue their argument on the merits and leave it at that. They have to bully and/or shame people into agreeing with them, or else. Mostly because they haven't realized yet that this isn't Twitter.
  2. I hope you're right about that. Not only do I not want to go through a sunset again but I've become used to the way Homecoming is set up. What I'm really hoping is that this application will allow me to give my friends my IP address, and a password, and we'll still be able to play CoH together.
  3. Agreed. In addition to the extra attack per round, Hasten should also give you a bonus to initiative, to hit and armor class. 😁
  4. The nice thing about deck top applications: Sometimes the internet is out. I don't have to accept ridiculous updates if I don't want to. I can run the application whenever I want to, even 20 years after the company has folded and the application is no longer for sale. I'm not at the mercy of someone else and their website. I don't have to worry about them "sunsetting" my application.
  5. So you come into the thread, accuse people of "white knighting" and "gatekeeping" and then you refuse to point out the specific statements. You could point those statements out, but you don't wanna get into a measuring contest. Yeah, ok. Look, I'm not trying to get into any kind of contest with you. I'm asking you to back up your accusations. If people really are "white knighting" and/or "gatekeeping" in this thread then it should be extremely simple for you to quote the exact post (and/or portion of a post) where they did that. In my experience, people who are making honest accusations are more than happy to point out the exact infraction and back up their statements. While people who are making false allegations often get indignant and refuse to discuss it further. Since you're psychic, can you tell which option I believe applies in this case?
  6. The OP was posted around 4am my time and I was in a meeting this morning.
  7. Yes. Father Time, and the other various seasonal contacts, will disappear from your contacts list.
  8. I do. How do you think I read your post? Unlike you I'm not psychic. White knighting is when someone defends someone else without expecting anything in return, i.e. acting like a white knight. Gatekeeping is when someone physically prevents you from entering a door or gate, or prevents you from taking an action. So if a moderator deleted your suggestion so that the developers can't see it then that would be gatekeeping. I just read this entire thread again. I didn't see anyone defending the developers. And, since a developer has responded in this thread, clearly no one has been Gatekeeping. I also didn't read "I speak for the entire player base" anywhere in the thread. Now maybe they're thinking that they do but, since I'm not psychic unlike you, I can only go by what people actually write in their posts, not in whatever pops into my head. Perhaps you could quote the exact portions of the posts where someone is gatekeeping and/or white knighting? Or would I not be able to see it because I'm not psychic? You're entitled to your own opinion, but you're not entitled to your own facts. .
  9. And how exactly do you know what they're thinking? Oh, right. You're psychic and you can read people's minds. Does that qualify as "white knighting" or "gatekeeping"? I ask because, since you're using those terms incorrectly, I figure that I should try to figure out what you mean by them.
  10. Both Winterhorde and TOT mobs should be level-less.
  11. I don't want all street mobs to be my level. I like my level 50 being like Superman when he smacks some Hellions in Atlas Park around. Super hero game! However, I would like to see a situation where saving a citizen from muggers on the street rewards a character, regardless of level. Perhaps a small amount of XP or special drop when the civilian walks up to the character and thanks them.
  12. Hey! That's my job! Go get your own job, Troo. Quit trying to steal mine. 😒
  13. My main is an Invuln/Energy Tanker. After the EM and travel power changes happened I was able to add Build Up and Combat Jumping into the build. So the character is both very tough (thanks to special and set IOs) and high damage (thanks to the ET fix and being able to use Build Up). I've also heard very good things about Energy/Shield Scrappers and Shield/Energy Tankers. With the right build and IOs a Scrapper can be almost Tanker tough And, especially when paired with the damage buff from Shield, EM is a monster. A single-target monster, but a monster nonetheless. A lot of very effective builds have been posted in their respective AT subforums. I recommend taking a look at them, especially if you have Mids.
  14. I agree. And it's a good thing when people make posts like this for the devs to see. So thank you for that. What? Get off my lawn!
  15. Everyone has a chance to get the badge. I do not see an issue with this. Not in an MMO. Finding a competent team is part of the challenge of getting the badge. You post on the forums all the time. And now you're like: "ZOMG! You expect me to actually TALK to other REAL PEOPLE?!?!" C'mon man! Seriously?
  16. Yeah. After a solid year of constant weekly threads on the forum screaming "This game is too easy!!!!!!!!!eleventyoneoneone111!!!!" the devs finally said "Yeah, ok we hear you" and added a difficult Task Force and an additional really difficult mode to the game. What did you expect them to do? 🤪
  17. As this forum's hypercritical jerk who frequently gets blasted (and not always without merit) for criticizing the developers, let me just say: yes. This game is very much in active development. In fact, the Homecoming developers have been adding more bug fixes and quality of life up updates to this game that was often the case on the retail servers. Plus they're adding new power sets and actual new mission content. Welcome home, Weegyboard! May you enjoy many many hours in Paragon City.
  18. No it isn't. As an adult and teammate you have a responsibility to try to work with your other teammates. Saying "hey guys, what are we doing" is the absolutely minimum effort of teamwork. Or are you going to claim that asking questions is hard? I've known a lot of people who were very competent at their specific field who aren't leaders, they aren't the same thing. And, in any case, there needs to be one leader, just as there needs to be one person managing a schedule, otherwise you end up with conflicts. No, sorry. I absolutely refuse to believe that anyone who's found Homecoming, figured out how to download and run the game, played awhile, figured out how to join a team or task force, is then suddenly so stupid that they can't even say "hey guys, I don't know what I'm supposed to do, can someone explain it to me?" And if they're that uninterested in what's going on then why would they have joined that team/task force in the first place? Look, I'm one of those who believes that when anything goes wrong it's always the Captain's fault. Always. But, if you were the one who caused the ship to sink then it's your fault too. And trying to use "oh, I'm too incompetent and uninterested to ask a question" is really not a defense. Or at least it's a defense that you should be too embarrassed to use. But hey, if refusing to learn and blaming all of your mistakes on others, instead of accepting some personal responsibility, is your thing then... Welcome to Twitter! 🙂
  19. I don't usually agree with Snarky, but when I do it's because he's right. Invuln blooms early. Other Tanker primaries can be made tougher, but not really at lower levels. My main is an Invuln/EM Tanker. Her build is such that when exempted down to level 20 she has all of her toggles including Combat Jumping, Tough and Weave. Definitely take Snarky's advice and get a Performance Shifter proc and a Miracle and/or Panacea HP/End proc. Dark Melee is great for making you more tough because the -ToHit stacks well with the defense from Invincibility. Broadsword, Katana, Martial Arts, Staff and Titan Weapons are great because they all have a "parry" attack that gives you a defense buff. Radiation Melee attacks all have a defense debuff. This means that the entire team will do more damage to your target. This can increase your durability because faster kill time means less attacks against you. Battle Axe, Mace and Super Strength help by knocking your target up or down a lot. They can't attack you while they're picking themselves up off of the deck. Ice Melee attacks all slow the target. -Recharge means less attacks against you, which means less incoming damage. While my main is Energy Melee, I don't recommend it for low level play. Energy Melee is a late bloomer.
  20. True. And the entire attack being stopped is reflected in the high defense. But there's nothing wrong with adding in some Absorb, so that if the attack does get through the force field has at least slowed the attack somewhat. Also, I agree that Force Field should also come with a high DDR. Force Field will be absolutely worthless at max level, especially during the new challenge mode, if every fight is just going to debuff the force fields to zero. Without DDR the challenge mode teams will just say "No FF lol. We need da hEalz0rs!"
  21. Exactly the point that I was trying to make with the D&D reference. Sure, the fight with the big bad villain at the end should be hard, but when I'm 10th level getting ambushed by a couple of highwaymen shouldn't be a challenging fight.
