Always the last one you try (psi-melee praise)
SaintD replied to FenrisWolf44's topic in General Discussion
It's difficult not to agree. The discourse is dominated by x4/x8, and single target considered worthless as a result of how the game is being played. Teams are just too big for anything except an AV to live long enough to matter from an ST damage perspective, and I/O defense manipulation allowed the problem to reach even solo play as people can end up surviving at difficulties they just shouldn't against enemy numbers never intended. -
It was recently realized/discovered that your resist value is also your resistance to -RES. Although your resistance to DAMAGE is capped, your resistance to -RES is not. As such, overcapping to 100% makes you immune to being debuffed in a way that isn't possible (At all, I think? Only with SR, if it can be done at all) against -DEF. A Tank can hit a 90% damage resist cap and easily also push the number up to 100% to many more damage types than anyone else, becoming literally immune to any enemy trying to debuff it.

Pretty sure that was just a hold, like Clobber in War Mace. They then realized both these sets completely sucked and dumped massive damage on Clobber and Freezing Touch to make the sets as a whole do more than tickle damage.

If you lived in City of Heroes/Villains
SaintD replied to FenrisWolf44's topic in General Discussion
Anyone who doesn't leave Paragon City immediately is an utter lunatic. The setting is surprisingly grimdark, absolutely terrible, and Paragon City is the nexus of it. Leave. -
Maybe it's even based on maps. I've had Arachnos in the level 20-30 tip mission to save homeless from indoctrination follow through the giant elevator the map uses, which is a much newer asset than usual ones.

Pretty sure that what you want though, is to go to a tailor and change your stance to the beast run.

Stalkers are specialized for single target work, and use a stealth mechanic. They are not intended to be, or mechanically, the all purpose no-bullshit straight damage cannon Blasters and Scrappers are. Stalkers are supposed to be huge damage single target alpha strikers. Scrappers are supposed to be the melee equivalent of Blasters....which is just direct no-nonsense raw DPS. That's why their (and Blasters) inherent is a completely hands off damage bonus to everything. The fact that you're able to in any way seriously think of a Stalker as 'glassier, cannonier Scrapper' is a major problem.

Bad Build Decisions You're Willing to Admit To
SaintD replied to oedipus_tex's topic in General Discussion
Is it really that bad though? Maybe more....generalist. Building for positional defense means way less holes that can be exploited; you can play missions, PUG around, and do whatever with the expectation that you'll have decent mitigation regardless of what you end up having to fight. S/L/E is a minmax 'all or nothing' setup that, while superior for battleships, can leave a hero needing to politely change back into their secret identity and pretend they're just drinking coffee on the way to work when they see that the guys robbing the bank are all psychic. It's a different choice for a different goal, rather than a 'bad decision'. -
It would probably be more accurate to say that Scrappers shouldn't need a bullshit OP epic archetype I/O at level 50 to seal their position as the all round damage melee AT. Honestly, I think Scrappers should crit like that naturally, and have more Sentinel-like lowered defense and hit points. More cannon, more glass.

Which ATs or specific power sets are most in need of a review?
SaintD replied to KaizenSoze's topic in General Discussion
Sentinels have the problem of having not-quite-good-enough damage which perfectly synergises with not-quite-good-enough defensive abilities. They don't hit hard enough to straight up kill enemies as fast as Scrappers, Brutes, Stalkers, or God forbid, Blasters do. As a result, they inherently have more incoming damage to deal with......and they have to deal with that higher level of incoming damage with the weakest defensive values available in the game. Blasters have no defensive values because they obliterate everything instantly. Scrappers, Stalkers, and Brutes have average defensive values because they obliterate everything almost instantly. Tankers have utterly absurd defensive values because they will grind every enemy into a finely obliterated paste. Sentinels have the worst defensive values and reduced range because.....they can do less damage than the Scrappers, Brutes and Stalkers at a range that functionally does almost nothing to reduce the incoming damage they have to deal with....? Wait, what? Sentinel damage would be a very solid 'OK 😐'....if they had defenses to last the longer fight. Sentinel defenses would be a very solid 'OK 😐' if they were killing off enemies like a Scrapper or Stalker. Instead, 'OK 😐' on both sides synergises into 'Kinda crap 😑'. -

Your numbers are wrong and I don't like your reasons! I fight you now! 😠 -

What was the nice fix? Since I don't know. -

Oh god I want to build a Crab that doesn't suck. 😭 All it needs in the short term is an animation fix for the ranged arm attacks. They have weird pauses and are inexplicably longer than the rifle. Smooth it out! -
Bad Build Decisions You're Willing to Admit To

Uh .....everything? I'd say everything. I'm not out here making good decisions. -
Limited to a single proc per power. There. Done.

I want the character to be standing in a properly lit instance on the Paragon city streets. The difference between the costume creator and actual game environment can sometimes be quite significant.

Hey, I didn't make this max physique, chest, and leg slider elf wearing just a white Lebeaux set because I'm a normal, well adjusted person here, buddy. I need cheesecake 24/7, or I might start thinking about how we all got to live in the dystopian part of the endless cycle of history just before the massive war, and the crushing loneliness has an avenue of attack. All because you cloaked my sexy elf legs.

Maybe Radiation? Like the annoying Freakshow AV at the end of the Sister Psyche TF, which is all about sonic technology stolen from the Council, so the Freakshow can make sonic bombs, which are set by special Freak Tanks with big speakers on their shoulders, orchestrated by a woman named Clamor. .....who then tears you to pieces with nothing but Rad powers.

Mercilessly nerf it into the floor. Six feet under. Dead as s***. Not for player balance reasons, I'm just sick of massively overpowered Fortunatas and Night Widows.
-
Oh I remember this mission. Yeah, it's really easy. All you do is just click on Skippy again, click on the 'Complete this mission' option for s*** missions, and move on. Every single time.

That is literally one of the recognised reasons in linguistics for how young people drive language change. Young people constantly make up or iterate new language, often as a group identifier, most of it falls off and dies almost immediately, but a few bits and pieces stick and they carry it into their older age where their language largely fossilizes and becomes the new standard.
