  2. Some people don't seem to realize the kind of crap you see on the /pol/ boards on 4Chan, or they just enjoy mocking someone for being offended. Which, by the way, asshole moves people. Either way, OP, best ignore these jerks and take it directly to the GMs. I haven't seen the ones you did, but knowing /pol/, I understand exactly why you're upset, and why you don't want to repeat any of the names you've seen.

  4. Super-Jump First time I took it on Live, I was blown away by how much fun it was simply jumping really gorram high and far. Some days, there is nothing I like more than just aimlessly leaping across parts of the city.

  8. I was about to say this. You wanna play a stalker? You lose one power from the Defensive set of your choice. In return, you get free stealth at level 1 that is a fantastic defense set mule, and massive ST damage. Stop being greedy. 😛

  10. You can have what looks like a ray gun as skins for Dual Pistols (and possibly Mastermind Thugs pistol) although they will still fire bullets.

  13. There is nothing about burritos that isn't fun. ...unless they're from Taco Bell. Then the aftermath isn't fun. And I cannot equate Super Strength with a ten-second barely noticeable crash to the hours of torment that result from ten seconds of Taco Bell.

Regarding thematic context... you decide the context for your character. IC, most of my characters don't "crash;" they remain as strong as they always are. IC, they don't get enraged - sometimes, I play it as getting focused. Sometimes, I play it a literal surge of power that they can't maintain indefinitely. One character doesn't actually have super-strength - her power is point-blank telekinesis, and the 'Rage' is her exerting intense, migraine-inducing mental force, which takes a lot out of her. Sometimes I even RP the crash. Hm. What was my point? Right. It's ten bloody seconds. Maybe I just can't wrap my head around the issue.

  16. Fire breath is ALWAYS necessary! Not enough games allow you to exhale gouts of searing flame upon people. This is the correct attitude to have, regarding all things in life. Breathing fire on a problem is always the best solution.
  17. Right? I've been reading this thread, wondering what the big deal was and why Rage needed to be fixed at all... Just... keep punching things, people. Soon, you will punch harder again.
  18. One hundred fourteen. One that comes with each power, including rest, fitness and health and the like, equaling fifty-seven. Exceptions exist, of course, like Swap Ammo, which has no slots and can't be slotted, and Kheldians, who come with an extra power or two that also comes with a slot. And then you have sixty-seven than come from leveling.
  19. See, here's the issue with assuming Blueside = Hero, and Redside = Villain. Hang around Atlas, near Ms. Lib. Look at who comes around, hanging out waiting for a DFB or leveling after a farm. Some of them have bios that make it clear the character is a villain. Yet they're hanging out Blueside to powerlevel more easily. Aside that, you have the rarer characters who roleplay as villains among the heroes. The narrative for the missions are changed through RP - rescues are kidnappings. Stopping Skulls/Hellions/Warriors/whoever is kicking upstarts out of your turf or taking something they have that you want. Any missions can be subverted through a clever narrartive. Then, you have at least three of my characters, who are heroes that are played redside, because in RP, they don't fit over in Paragon. They've taken it upon themselves to protect and defend the innocent of the Etoiles. Kidnappings become rescues. Thefts become retrievals. Some missions become infiltrations. Again, any mission can be subverted by a clever enough player willing to put the effort in to roleplay their own narrative. Which is why I say, again... Hero? Villain? Darling, I play characters.
  20. The game can only restrict where I can go. It has no decision on how my characters act, or who they are. It seems we have different definitions of how one plays a hero or a villain. 😄

  22. I have said it many times, and will say it many more. At this stage in the game's life, canon is more of a suggestion than anything. If canon doesn't work with the concept/background for your character, then sure, you can change your concept to fit the canon. I prefer, instead, to look at my changes as introducing new pieces of lore, than everyone else can accept or ignore at their leisure. Saves me from a lot of overthinking, and gives me room to flex creatively. Also, I made an undersea Atlantian-ish character just last night. Nauti-Gal!

This is the reason I don't bother with an actual biography, and instead write a short monologue as the character, touching on who they are and sometimes how they became what they are or how their powers work. I feel, for RP, it works better to give a sense of the personality, rather than the history of the character. Backstory can be given through RP.
