Group fly and Null the Gull
Apparition replied to Communistpenguin's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
1. Go take every single character you have to Pocket D, check if you have Group Fly disabled, and if not, disable it. Every time you make a new character from then on in, take it to Pocket D and disable Group Fly. Is it an annoyance? Yes. Is it time consuming if you have a lot of characters? Yes. But if you don't like Group Fly, it's what you have to do, and you only have to do it once. I did it with about thirty characters in one sitting, and then, as I said, I do it with every new character I make. 2. That's not an issue if everyone does 1. And like I said, I'm not going to disable Group Fly for people who won't take the time for 1. I and others have done it, I see no reason why everyone else can't. Even beyond and above that, that's just yet another strike against zone MSRs. 3. Why would you not want Group Fly on a MSR? Group Fly is primarily used by Masterminds, and it's the only way to let pets reach the drop ship to help take it down. -
Welcome to gaming since around 2015.

Group fly and Null the Gull
Apparition replied to Communistpenguin's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Certain things are done via Null the Gull because it's considered too time consuming or too difficult to implement via the options window or as a command. It's been stated by developers elsewhere that Group Fly is considered too difficult. It's Null the Gull or bust. Honestly, I don't see the issue. Every single character I make, I take to Pocket D and head to Null the Gull at or before level 5 to disable speed boost and group fly. It takes two minutes. I understand some people have hundreds of characters, but it's still doable. I'm not about to turn off Group Fly because someone can't spend the two minutes to go to Pocket D. -
Not a developer, so take what I say with a large grain or two of salt, but IIRC, the issue with this is that allowing cross-faction teaming would let people on the opposite faction start destroying items inside the SG base, thanks to legacy coding from base raids. I don't expect any change there any time soon, if ever, I'm afraid. I agree though that it would be very nice.

@Anyad led an instanced Rikti mothership raid on Torchbearer this evening, Friday, July 9th. We entered the instance and started forming the league at 8:03 P.M. ET/5:03 P.M. PT. The pylon phase began at 8:31 P.M. ET/5:31 P.M. PT. Everything was going well. IIRC, we had 45 people on the league. During the bowl phase of the mothership raid, at 8:51 P.M. ET/5:51 P.M. PT, the entire mothership raid league was hit by a mapserve. Everyone on the entire league lost connection to Torchbearer. Those that were on the instanced Rikti mothership raid also seemed to have been rolled back a couple of minutes, with fewer Vanguard merits, XP, and INF than we had just prior to the mapserve. As best as we can tell, everyone else on the shard that wasn't in the instanced Rikti mothership raid was fine. Anyad started forming another instanced Rikti mothership raid from inside the instance at 8:57 P.M. ET/5:57 P.M. PT. Everything went mostly okie from there on in, however a few people could not enter the instance. Anyad invited them, they would enter the instance... and then immediately be hit by a mapserve and kicked out. I don't know exactly how many, Anyad would be able to tell you that. I reported all of this real time in the #report-server-issues-here channel of the Homecoming Discord, but was instructed by GM Crumpet to file a bug report here. Sorry for being a bit thorough with the times, but I hope it helps y'all track down the issue.

Add more difficult content, ideas welcome!
Apparition replied to Marbing's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
That is already the case. I have personally seen Brutes being asked if they have other characters to switch to as it was felt that Brutes don’t do enough damage and Tankers make better tanks. Many times, I have seen people being told not to make Corruptors and to make Defenders instead for better buffs and debuffs with similar or better damage.- 53 replies

Hrm, that's strange. It definitely worked for me, and it has been working for @Yomo Kimyata as well.
-
They hit more often and do more damage, but not enough to be really noticeable if people keep buffs up like they should be doing anyway. Greater difficulty has to come in through either nerfs, new mechanics like America's Angel pointed out, or both. Greater level differences aren't going to do it.
-
The thing is though, mobs beyond +4 aren't more difficult. They're just much more time consuming. That's the only difference. As I've posted here - At level 43 (without any Incarnate abilities), all +5 to +7 mobs were were a slog. Not difficult, just time consuming. The level 34+ respec trial took about three times as long as normal, but was it any more challenging? Not at all.

Yep. EoEs/the Hamidon raid revamp and the auction house were added in the same issue, Issue 9.
-
That would certainly make some Hamidon raids impossible to carry out, considering that Hamidon sometimes spawns in less than one minute of monster hunting.
-
You are right about the lack of mechanics being a substantial issue, but DPS balance is an issue as well. Why play a Corruptor when you can play a Defender that has better buffs, better debuffs, better personal defenses, and does nearly as much damage as a Corruptor if not more thanks to procs? Why play a Brute when you can play a Tanker that has substantially better damage mitigation and does nearly as much damage if not more thanks to procs? I have seen procced out Defender builds that literally do 95% of the damage of a non-procced out Blaster with the same ranged damage set, with substantially better personal defenses. In what world is that balanced?

Here's the thing. My point by showing my raid credentials (which I actually didn't like doing), was to try to point out to you that you play and operate in a tiny bubble (a bubble with high-end players to be sure), and that there are other "high end players" that play and operate outside of your bubble. Playing and operating in a bubble is fine. Nothing wrong with that all, it's natural and healthy. The issue is acting like your bubble is representative of the whole, and even worse acting like your bubble is more knowledgeable and better than other bubbles. @Arli and @Jitsurei are better players than I am. That's just a fact. It's just that I'm the weirdo who has the patience and desire to do the things that I do. But they too see that there are substantial issues with damage procs, and they're not the only ones. It's not just me. To try to act like you and those in your bubble are the sole arbiters and inheritors of game knowledge and anyone outside of your bubble who disagrees with your stance on damage procs are just "ignorant casuals"... well, to be frank, that's not a good look. It's condescending, rude, and unnecessary. You disagree, that's fine. But yours isn't the only view point by "high end players," and there's nothing wrong with that either. The reason why I've barely posted in this thread is because we (collectively, the forums), have had this argument over damage procs about 9,000 times over the past two years, and anything I've had to say on the issue has already been said by both myself elsewhere and now others like Galaxy Brain.

redside Why is it so hard for me to play Red Side?
Apparition replied to Dusty Longshot's topic in General Discussion
Yep. I've always found most of blue side unappealing, especially Atlas Park. :P I also don't get the "drab and unappealing" bit for red side zones. Have you looked at Skyway City, Boomtown, Crey's Folly, Brickstown, The Hollows, etc. lately? To each his or her own. :) -
redside Why is it so hard for me to play Red Side?
Apparition replied to Dusty Longshot's topic in General Discussion
1. The stories red side are much better written. I mean, they're not prize winning, but compared to blue side? Night and day difference in quality. 2. You aren't routinely sent to zones A, B, C, then back to B, then back to A during a red side story arc or SF. 3. The mobs are more difficult, so it's more of a challenge than blue side. 4. There's no Atlas Park. 5. The red side zones like St. Martial and Grandville are unique, and not yet another drab cityscape like Skyway City or blasted cityscape like Boomtown. 6. Because red side has a substantially lower population and because it is more challenging, people who play red side routinely tend to be better players than those who stick to blue side on average. 7. Red side gives you a nice release valve. Who hasn't had a stressful day at work and want to come home and do some villainy now and then? 8. Not so much of a selling point now, but the ATs that originated red side are subjectively better designed to me than most of the ATs that originated blue side. -
I load up an AE farm at +4x8, disable all of my toggles, go into it, die, go to the hospital, reenter mission, die, rinse, repeat about five times until I've accrued 200k debt. Takes about three minutes. Then I go do an ITF or something to pay off the 200k debt badge. Then I have a shiny new High Pain Threshold accolade. Trust me, it works, and it's far faster than monster island.
-
Debt paid in AE does not count, but debt accrued in AE does.
-
Yep, it does. I use it to get the High Pain Threshold accolade all of the time.

Hi. I led both Hamidon and Rikti mothership raids for years prior to sunset, I've routinely led raids on Homecoming for the past two years, I was the Hamidon tank in a successful five person Hamidon raid without any temporary powers, and I think damage procs need to be nerfed to the ground. Nice to meet you.
-
Go to an AE building, load up a farm at +4x8, turn off your toggles, enter the farm, be quickly obliterated, go to the hospital. Exit the hospital, go right back inside the mission, die again. Rinse, repeat.

Yep. I would love it if I had reliable support like a Fire/Cold Corruptor or a Time/DP Defender while I team, but I just don’t. I very, very rarely play melee characters on teams these days because, more than half the time if PUGing, the only way I know my team will have a support character is if I play one. The interconnected style of play America’s Angel and BlackHearted are talking about where you can build characters assuming that you will have defense and resistance buffs from other PCs is great, but is niche and far from the norm. I can’t assume buffs from anyone while teaming, so I have to build all of my characters to be as self-sufficient as possible, including Corruptors. All of my friends build likewise. So yes, Defenders and Corruptors are built for soloing, as it’s the only way to guarantee soft cap defenses, even on a team. And, as BlackHearted stated, damage procs are an issue with Defender builds built for soloing with softcapped defenses.
-
Yep. If I'm forming a PUG TF or SF, I'd say odds are good that I'll get something like two Tankers, two Scrappers, three Blasters, and I'll be the sole support. To rely on having other support with you on the team, you'll eventually get caught with your pants down around your ankles. If you PUG, I'd say more often than not.
-
I intentionally soloed two Force Field Defenders from levels one through 50 back on live, doing every single blue side story arc while leveling up, and turning XP off every five levels to make sure I wouldn't ding and outlevel anything. It took me about three months each time. :P Now on Homecoming, thankfully I don't have to play Defenders, but I do solo on most of my Corruptors. Not all the time, but I'd say at least half the time and probably the majority of the time.
-
Even closing the gap so there's a marginal or non-existent difference in damage is a substantial issue, because Defenders provide better personal defense, buffs, and debuffs, while Tankers have substantially better mitigation.
