Caleb will always spawn if you kill one hundred Nerva Spectral Daemons during the day. If the sun is down and you don’t get a spawn message, that means that Caleb is still up and roaming around from the last time someone spawned him. Every time that I kill one hundred Nerva Spectral Daemons during the day and yet didn’t receive a message that Caleb spawned, I found him roaming.

Is farming an imbalanced method of earning ingame rewards?

Everything seems to cost too much influence
Apparition replied to Diantane's topic in General Discussion
I have stripped and deleted more characters than I have total characters at the moment. The vast majority of which are melee, as I just find it much less enjoyable on Homecoming than I did on live, but I keep on trying. I suspect part of my lack of enjoyment of melee is due to my disagreement with the Issue 26, Page Four Tanker update and part of it is just preference change on my part over the past ten years. I have one Brute ATM that I never play, one Tanker ATM that I'm really itching to strip and delete, and a Stalker that I only play at Hamidon raids since they're usually lacking in melee damage for some reason. -

Prior to the double INF while malefactored nerf? Maybe. Now? No. It's good for PLing up alts to level 50 and for passing the time, but for actual rewards, marketeering and speed running TFs/SFs are both better sources of INF in the end. Heck, even Hamidon raids are a better source of INF now, if you're lucky and don't get a Golgi. :P -
Thanks. I just don’t enjoy melee on Homecoming like I did on live, so I have been trying to think of non-melee characters to solo red side with, and this seems to be a strong contender. Good to see that it wasn’t unfounded.

I haven't played a Controller in a very long time... since somewhere around Issue 7. I'm strongly contemplating making an Illusion/Dark Affinity Controller. Assuming that I slot attuned IO enhancement sets as I level, how easy or difficult would it be to solo red side with?

What is Schedule of Hami and MSR on Torchbearer?
Apparition replied to seaborndan's topic in Torchbearer
Unlike the Early Bird Hamidon raids, the mothership raids are manually added to the calendar each week because Anyad leads them some weeks, and I lead them other weeks. Unlike Hamidon raids, you can't just show up. You have to send one of us (and only one of us), a tell to join, and it depends on our schedules who is leading on a particular week. We try to post them on the calendar up to a couple of weeks in advance. Right now the mothership raids for the 17th and 24th are pending GM approval to be added. As for Little Claw's raids, they generally start right after the Early Bird Hamidon raids end, so they feed into each other. -

Only The Abyss Hamidon raids on Saturday afternoons aren’t on the calendar. Everything else is. -
New to the game. Need help with Going Rogue TF
Apparition replied to CallMeMal's topic in General Discussion
Welcome to Paragon City, the Rogue Isles, and Praetoria! Sadly, there are no Task Forces nor Strike Forces available in Praetoria. :( I do hope you enjoy Praetoria though, it has some great storylines and missions. -
It's not just Cimerora, but Rikti War Zone and Kallisti Wharf as well. Probably Dark Astoria as well, but I don't team in Dark Astoria so I don't know for sure. Basically every co-op zone.

People build to reach the defense softcap on their own for two reasons. 1. Soloing. ‘Nuff said, really. 2. You simply cannot depend on having teammates with buffs. When PUGing, the vast majority of the time I am the only support character on the team. And in that case, I would rather bring debuffs instead of buffs because playing on a team of mostly Brutes, Tankers, and Scrappers without any debuffs can be a real slog. Now, for Force Field in particular. Cold and Time are better. They both provide good defense. In Cold’s case, it also comes with great debuffs. In Time’s case, it also comes with other solid buffs, healing, and an okie debuff. Force Field also provides mez protection (which is largely no longer needed between Defense Amplifier and Clarion Destiny), and… knockback.
-
Yep. Between that and damage procs, it's gotten to the point where Brutes are seriously outclassed by Tankers now and are badly in need of a buff if Tankers don't get tuned back down some. Since Issue 26, Page Four, I keep making Brutes and deleting them. Meanwhile, I have a Tanker but never play him because the mitigation makes playing it as boring as watching paint dry, so I've pretty much stopped playing melee entirely outside of Hamidon raids.

What Is Your Travel Power Do You Shoehorn In?
Apparition replied to Erratic1's topic in General Discussion
I always take Fly, Hover, Evasive Maneuvers, and either Super Speed or Speed of Sound on every single character I make. I prefer Fly, but many of my friends are speed runners, so I also take Super Speed or Speed of Sound to keep up with them. -
A lot of friends of mine stopped playing on Homecoming over the past year and a half because they feel that they have done absolutely everything possible there is to do in the game, and that there is simply no challenge left. They’ve soloed and duoed every single TF, SF, and even Incarnate Trial in the game. One challenging TF won’t bring them back permanently, but it’s a step in the right direction and I hope that I get to play with them again for a little while.

What is Schedule of Hami and MSR on Torchbearer?
Apparition replied to seaborndan's topic in Torchbearer
Welcome to Torchbearer! There are six Hamidon raids held in The Hive every day at 6:30 P.M. ET/3:30 P.M. PT, although do try to be there at least fifteen minutes ahead of time. There are also three Hamidon raids held in The Abyss every Saturday at 2 P.M. ET/11 A.M. PT, although, again, do try to be there at least fifteen minutes ahead of time. There are two back-to-back instanced Rikti mothership raids held every Friday after the last Hamidon raid, roughly at 8:15 P.M. ET/5:15 P.M. PT, but can start forming anywhere from a half hour earlier to a half hour later. You must be level 35+ and have the Member of Vanguard badge to get in. -
How do I tell if a toon has completed the WST?
Apparition replied to Bricktop72's topic in General Discussion
The only way to tell is to remember if you did it on a particular character or not. There's nothing in game that informs you. -
Awesome. I know that there are a million other things more worthy of developer time, but I really hope that the doors are linked one day.

This has been an issue since CoV beta in summer 2005. I don't expect it to get resolved soon, if ever, as it's a sixteen year-old issue at this point.

As a raid leader... I have to assume that every single Rikti mothership raid I run is someone's first. While there is a core group of players that attend most of my raids, I can't take for granted that everyone knows what to do. Most of the time, it turns out that it, in fact, is someone's first mothership raid, at least since live. Many, many times I'm told "I've never done this before, what should I expect?" Or "Man, I haven't done this since live." I'm sure there are plenty of other first timers (or at least first timers on Homecoming), who never say a thing. In addition, every raid leader has a unique style and slight variances from other raid leaders. So while it may not be the first time someone's done a particular raid in general, it may be the first time someone's done it with me. I have to account for that. That's why I like to call out each individual pylon during the pylon phase on every raid, because different leaders use different pylon orders. Believe me, it would be a lot easier on me if I didn't.

Since Homecoming started, back in April 2019. It doesn't make sense thematically, but that doesn't matter to me as I play red side exclusively and being locked red side while most of my friends played blue side back on live meant that I was forced to play blue side and had to be in a separate SG when I wanted to play red side. This lets me stay red side as a Rogue and still be in a SG with my friends. Win/win.

Psi Melee is actually really good on Incarnate Trials, as well as the Dr. Kahn TF and Barracuda SF. Energy Melee has far from been nerfed. It's now the top single target melee damage set. IMO, you can't go wrong with either Psi Melee or Energy Melee.
-
Yeah, comparing live player numbers versus Homecoming player numbers is comparing apples to oranges. On live, you could have a maximum of 36 characters per server per account. On Homecoming, you can have a maximum of 1,000 characters per server per account. Huge difference.
-
IMO, if a person hasn’t logged in for two years or more (military or otherwise, level 50 or otherwise), then he or she is never coming back. There were a ton of people who made a lot of characters between April 2019 and September 2019, left Homecoming, and are simply never coming back.
