I doubt it. When I form TFs/SFs/Trials with PUGs, I either advertise them as "speedy" or "+x steamroll/kill through," with the x being 1 through four. They just legitimately have no idea what a TF/SF/Trial is and think that they're signing up for something like radio/newspaper missions.

Even though Excelsior is the most populated shard, the reality is that it does not have the population to handle multiple simultaneous events. There are a limited number of players interested in raids of any type, whether they be Hamidon, Rikti mothership, or Incarnate trials. I lead instanced Rikti mothership raids every Thursday night at 8:30 P.M. ET. As long as we have three full or nearly full teams by 8:35 P.M., I try to start by then and pick up players on the way because people that attend and want to also attend the 10 P.M. Hamidon raids start panicking and bail if I don’t start by 8:40 P.M. or so. It’s on a very tight schedule due to the nightly Hamidon raids. A few weeks ago, someone started hosting costume contests in Kallisti every Thursday night at 8 P.M. ET. Now I am starting to feel the pressure on that end as well as the past few weeks have seen a significantly lower turnout to my MSR compared to before. Once the costume contest is over, the pace of pickups on my MSR gets substantially better but by then the Hamidon raiders are fretting that they may not be able to make the Hamidon raids. Just putting it out there from two years of experience that even with the several hundred to a thousand players population, it is not enough to handle multiple simultaneous events because interest will naturally be limited. As such, it is good to follow the Excelsior event calendar and the Discord channel and try to give a little berth if possible. Of course, no one owns anything outside of the Homecoming staff, so do what you would like as long as it follows the CoC. 🙂

Uhh…. You can justifiably say a lot of negative things about NCSoft, but they never ever charged separate subscription fees for City of Heroes and City of Villains. They were each stand alone games, but only required one monthly subscription.

100% of my characters from level 35+ on are Rogue. The ones who aren't Rogue below level 35 are gold side. I don't team for regular missions, but I have had very few game-related issues whatsoever teaming for TFs/SFs/Trials. When I form a TF/SF/Trial, I ask for whoever wants an invite to let me know when he or she enters the zone I am in, and then I'll invite. Some people don't understand why I won't invite them right away, so I explain that I am a villain and he or she is a dirty hero. I've had I think two or three people in the past two years not accept that explanation and demand an invite before getting into the zone. So I just invited someone else instead, as he or she was obviously not worth playing with to begin with. For TFs/SFs/Trials that I didn't lead, I always explain to the team leader that I am a villain and will be there in a minute. I think I've also had two or three people in the past two years not accept that, so I just put the person on global ignore and went about my day.

What was the quote again? “Champion server: We know drama.” Hey, if it wasn’t for a certain someone banning all members of a certain global channel from attending his or her Rikti mothership raids all those years ago, I would not have started leading them. Perhaps some good will come out of this situation as well.

issue 27 Patch Notes for June 2nd, 2021
Apparition replied to Number Six's topic in Patch Notes Discussion
There is. “ Unusual Clockwork activity in Kings Row. “ -
Out of curiosity, did you state that you needed help with it? I know that I am a weirdo, but as I said before, I don't join mission arc teams unless someone needs help with it. I doubt that I am the only one.

Ascension (the server that was started to replace Sanctuary), has now shut down as well. It sounds like there may have been data loss as well as the owner indicates that the host deleted all of the data. You can read more about it here if you wish. I hope that the Sanctuary/Ascension players find a new home quickly.

Sorry to hear that. One of the groups should have run an instanced mothership raid instead. It was made so people could do other things in the RWZ instead, after all.

You missed my point. I already acknowledged that some people would never play red side for whatever reason. What I am saying is that quite a few more would play red side if the rewards were substantially better. Enough to make a substantial difference finding teams. Then those who would play red side but don’t because they can’t find teams may be swayed to play red side, knowing that they have more people to play with. The Shadow Shard is dead most of the time. People dislike it. Yet suddenly when a Shadow Shard TF is a WST, you find teams there. Why is that? Double reward merits. When the Vanguard merit to reward merit conversion ratio was increased from ten to one to thirty to one, several friends stopped doing MSRs. They don’t find them fun, but they had no trouble doing it when they believed that the rewards were worth it. If Hamidon raid rewards were nerfed, do you honestly believe that there would be as many ran as there are today? Of course not.

Just delete the directory that it's in.

I never said that I was open to being paid to play anywhere, but other people may be. I have been told by many people that they would do things in game that they don’t do now if the rewards were increased. There are plenty of people that play the game that only care or primarily care about rewards. I am not one of them, but they are there. Regardless, it was hypothetical.
-
No thank you. While I play red side exclusively, you literally could not pay me to play on Everlasting. In any case, while I believe that my suggestion above would work, I know that it has zero chance of occurring. :D
-
I fail to see how it could be any worse than it is now. On the most populated shard by far, it is extremely difficult and sometimes impossible to fill a SF after around 11 P.M. ET - midnight ET.
-
That is currently what Thunderspy is proposing as their solution towards the huge player base disparity between sides on all CoH servers, but IMO that is both misguided and unnecessary. What I suggested would work. I mean, there will always be those blue side die hards, but the red side population would still undoubtedly substantially increase.
-
Honestly, here is how you get red side activity going again: 1. Remove side switching from Null the Gull. 2. Make The Abyss red side only again. 3. Double the reward merits on everything red side. Story arcs, SFs, GMs, Hamidon raids. Everything. You need all three combined, but that would do it.

Negative, still broken.

I don't have a Mac, only an iPhone and iPad Air. I asked @MJB to check.
-
Yes, the cache was cleared. All browsers on iPadOS/iOS use Safari internally, so all browsers are impacted. I tried on Brave Browser and Safari.
-
It is mostly fixed, but actual power pages come up blank on iPadOS. @MJB confirmed this, and also added that it doesn't work on Safari on macOS either.

Homecoming Code of Conduct Update - May 13th, 2021
Apparition replied to Jimmy's topic in Announcements
This whole thing started because a YouTube content creator popular with over a million pre-teens made a "homage" character to The Incredible Hulk and played as him, showing a bunch of pre-teens how to do like wise. That earned the video a C&D by NCSoft, which shut down all video streaming and recording on Homecoming. So some "panic" is justified. Don't poke the bear, especially when the bear was already poked by lawyers of a company that owns the character that you made a "homage" of. -
I have never written a bio for any character, even prior to sunset. I'm just not creative enough. I reuse the same four or five costumes, and all of my characters have either "App" or "Apparition" somewhere in the name.

issue 27 [Beta] Patch Notes for May 28th, 2021
Apparition replied to Faultline's topic in [Open Beta] Patch Notes
Gaussian and Dark Watcher are both level 45+ contacts, and as you said the LGTF is the culmination of the story line. It makes little sense to be able to run it prior. In addition, the LGTF was clearly designed as an endgame TF, with the Riders and Hamidon, (even weakened). It is the co-op endgame TF, analogous to the MLTF and LRSF.
