  1. I'm curious as to why you think you have to get rid of it by fighting stuff for an hour instead of just playing the game? It goes away as you play and it's not as if you are bleeding it away with no effect, you are still getting the extra 50% xp whether you spend an hour fighting enemies outside or doing missions. I'm not saying your opinion isn't valid, it's probably a minority of a handful of people, or even literally just you, but it's never going to be popular or requested enough to warrant Dev time. The only way to avoid patrol XP is to stay logged in. Start a TF/ouro then park somewhere out of the way like the shadow shards. Then quit the TF/ouro when you want to continue. Then minimise the window and turn off your monitor.
  2. Wow this thread got complicated. To answer the original question, GM's come and GM's go. One GM has this interest and flair, another has a different one. I don't like forums and avoid them if I can. I do tickets and ingame player help, plus reply on discord. Others are base creation wizards and know almost everything that can be done and can go wrong and how to fix it when it does. Others love PvP and do a lot with that area, others do RP and attend events as signature characters for fun. If something stops it's because the GM involved in organising it has left. They leave for various reasons, job opportunities, family commitments, burn out etc. We are all volunteers and real life has to take priority. Sometimes someone else doesn't feel able to take on the vacated role so it falls by the wayside. I saw a few comments about GM's being rude and dismissive. That's almost certainly a mistake based on how it sounded in the head to how it comes across to the reader. I'm a terrible offender for trying to deescalate a situation with humour and sometimes another GM will point out that it could be read as rude. British humour (and European humour) sometimes reads differently across the Atlantic. I apologise for any offence I may cause, it's not intentional but the funny quip to try to calm things down isn't always as amusing in reality as it sounded in my head 🙂
  3. At the risk of being stoned for being a heretic, but maybe join one of the ToT teams that are about? I've played on Reunion and Excel and depending on the time it's mostly been a full league and a lot of fun. Even a level 1 in PI or KW is welcome (from my experience) and it's lots of mayhem plus league teleporting to GM's and zombies. The solo ToT issue with the EB's will be fixed next year, but unfortunately it's too late to change it now. The league leaders have been doing a brilliant job keeping the teams balanced and active. On Excel we had 4 PI's at one point. I'm sure by the end it will be harder to find people to ToT with, but at this point in time it seems to be rolling full steam ahead. I understand some people prefer to do it solo as it's less stressful (I'm one of those people) but there are some options available if you want to Tot and it's too much solo.
  4. If I'm on any content with incarnates I up the difficulty anyway. 4 person team sounds about right on +4/8. 8 person team on +4/8 will steamroll over everything.
  5. The problem with really long threads is you end up missing the important information. I know I had to search for ages and read a lot of pages before I came across the important info I needed 🙂 Hopefully being at the tail end people will skip to the end and see it.
  6. I can confirm, it works. I was having the exact same errors and once I had removed the old vidiotmaps files from the mods and backup folders it ran smoothly
  7. The XP from the boost in AE was tripled rather than doubled so they fixed it
  8. Speaking as a player and not as a GM I like this. I often skip offence toggles because much of the time I find it really irritating to have to reactivate them after they go down, and often in the heat of a fight I don't notice they stop until quite a while after. Or they go down, I turn them on, they immediately go down again. Personally I'd quite like the suppression time to be shorter, maybe 4 or 5 seconds, but I'm not going to complain. My builds will change considerably on some of my alts as I like the offense toggles, I just didn't like the fact they went off completely.
  9. I was having endless problems early last week that went on for a couple or three days. Nothing I did would fix it and I had terrible problems even logging in on my GM account to help players with stuck enemies or missing objectives. I had to go away and come back, just because the lag and mapserver was truly unplayable. My ISP was messing about with upgrades to the network and older games like ours tend to be more susceptible to those kinds of issues. Eventually I got a router update that took a while to sort itself out and I've had no issues since. But to answer the original question. one mapserver won't make me quit, but it will make me glare at the router. As long as it doesn't happen again I'll carry on. Get another and it's straight to a reboot of the router. Any lag though gets an immediate router reboot. That never gets better, and usually gets progressively worse.
  10. Just because there is a top of the line difficulty for players who feel they need a challenge doesn't mean it's demanded of everyone no matter the build or the play experience. As with all things, it should be a negotiation with the team leader and the team as to what people feel comfortable with doing. New to the TF should start on a low difficulty and enjoy the story and the work that went into it. Those who've done it a few times and know their way around can and do make it harder. There are a lot of easter eggs and fun things in there just because it was cool. Personally I wouldn't enjoy anything on Relentless, but I'm not who that difficulty level is aimed at. I can barely manage a Master Of at times 🙂
  11. We don't spawn any Giant Monsters outside specific events like Monster Mashes. I have noticed that occasionally there is a glitch where multiple ones spawn, but the spawning is through player action, spawn glitches or other natural phenomena and not anything by the GM team.
  12. Does a clean install do anything? The problem with a lot of the slash commands and the reason only certain ones are public is that they can do very odd things behind the scenes. To compound the problem commands that worked fine on live may bork all sorts of things now we are years of fixes and updates past where live was.
  13. It's always Nemesis. A bit of a necro thread this one, but the situation hasn't changed. Things are going as they have been going, finances are detailed every month as to where they go, and contrary to some peoples opinions, nobody is getting rich off this. We truly appreciate the people who donate every month, we couldn't do it without you. When we get any news on anything that is actually concrete then we will of course share it as soon as possible. Until then just enjoy the game, have fun and stop worrying we will be shut down tomorrow 🙂
  14. closing this thread due it being raised from the dead
  15. locking this thread as it seems to just be circling the drain at this point
  16. Mother loves you and wants you to be happy. Now get away from that window before she has to speak sadly to you
  17. Here's hoping this thread stays light hearted and frothy and doesn't degenerate into abuse around page three 🙂
  18. Oh I know what you mean, sadly there are always people out to spoil things for others. I don't like to stop stuff because of the minority though. I'd rather deal with them while everyone else moves on and enjoys the options. You could say the same about a lot of things though. One person has guns and plays a time displaced cowboy trying to adjust to life in our time and using his exceptional skills with a firearm for justice/profit (delete as applicable for hero or villain) while someone else has guns and turns it into something unpleasant and political. We could ban the guns, but that would stop all the players RPing them in a fun way.
  19. I don't know, the others do interesting things they feel they want to do and it means players have a variety of flavours to choose from. Don't like one, try a different one. It might be just your cup of tea.
  20. Certain things make me nauseous and give me migraines. Usually it's because it causes a disconnect between my eyes and inner ear. Being on a boat or plane does it. I have to have a window seat so I can see outside, or go on deck so I can see the water so the signals match then it goes away. Games, I can't play first person at all. Ten minutes and I'm throwing up and need a lie down in a dark room for a few hours. The camera shake on CoX does it, as does speed boost in tight places. Council maps and purple caves can make me feel queasy. I can't say I've experienced any teams with hurricane so I can't comment on how it affects me, but the weirdest things can trigger an adverse reaction in the brain and it's totally valid to want to avoid it.
  21. I avoid any spoilers until stuff reaches open Beta. Sometimes as a GM I see stuff I'd prefer not to, but it's still exciting 🙂 As a player (and bear in mind I have no contact with the devs or the dev teams outside of dealing with current issues I need advice on so don't have a clue what they are working on) I'd love to see more costume options, especially things like more animal heads and the ability to use national flags. It's sad that a patriotic alt can't have their national flag available as a chest piece or a shield decoration or a cape. Then again I suppose there are so many different flags out there the big ones would be available but then you'd get someone complaining their small island nation got missed off. You can kind of fudge some flags, but for those of us rubbish at creating costumes it would be nice to have them as a drop down option
  22. Great mind think alike. One of the first toons I remade back from live is a drag queen who won the first series of RuPauls Drag Race Superhero!!
