  1. Yes. BR/Dev/Fire Fun stuff I especially like the Terminator rifle sfx mod for it too.
  2. Variety is the spice of life, as the saying goes. I can always get on board with this type of MOAR! I love that you not only made the suggestion, but also offered up your services to help make it happen.
  3. I know the time is LOL but that's why I solo during the day when I can (AFK galore). But...I did it so that's good enough for me! :D
  4. I bounce back and forth between CoH, Grim Dawn, and Banished; depending on what genre I feel like at the time. Yes, they're all older but so am I and I don't really feel like trying to keep up with the youngins playing the new stuff.
  5. If you're being specific to a character that is Cap-esque, I would say Combat Jumping wouldn't be out of the question. Because many comic book groups of supers has a gadgeteer at their disposal: You could also use costume pieces: Rocket Boots /Piston Boots/ Backpack options etc. to help fit the concept in order to use an actual travel power. I doubt we'll ever see a vehicles as a mode of transport so creative reasoning is really the only option for those.
  6. I don't have an absurd hoard sitting around from 2 years of playing, either (someday!). A lot of the recently returned/new players don't. When you're leveling, just sell everything. Those nice rare components sell for a nice chunk of change (selling your enhancement & recipe drops will cover the posting fee 1st time around) I wouldn't bother worrying about slotting early on since, as you've found out, you level out of them pretty fast anyhoo.
  7. "Sorry about the smell. I just finished burning an abundance of rotting corpse-things." Moll O'Tov taking a victory PR shot after eradicating Dr.Vahzilok. (Does this guy ever *stay* dead?! Jeeze!)
  8. I thoroughly enjoy(ed) my BR/Dev blaster from 1-50. It's when I get into the Incarnate stuff that I get bored with any character, tbh. Maybe it's a symptom from having played a lot before it became a thing, but I can just feel the p2w residuals in it. I don't really feel like I'm on any particularly meaningful part of my characters journey after a certain point, it's just MOAR POWAH! Meh... A little too megalomaniacal for a hero, to me. Like Superman vs. Dark Superman.
  9. This discussion is as old as AE itself, unfortunately. The best option/solution I've seen suggested to keep all players considered, is to enable a text-specific Ignore for chat. I dunno how much that would require by way of untangling the code spaghetti, but it would be lovely if possible.
  10. I really must control my Altaholism...*sigh* Here we go again! Dreamsurge - Psionic Melee / Electric Armor Scrapper The Apparitionist - Darkness Control / Psionic Assault Dominator
  11. I don't RP in-game but, why not have a global RP LFG channel? You could even incorporate it into your RP to help keep immersion. Instead of thinking of it as OOC (on your end, at least) use it as a scrying device your character goes to; a computer (the SG Supercomputer, for example); a telepathic scanning of the populace....the possibilities are endless.
  12. Honestly, Neverwinter was the only MMO I could find any enjoyment in for a short while after CoH went *poof*. That died off rather quickly though as it soon became impossible to progress at a decent pace if you weren't a P2W whale. Call me old-fashioned, I suppose. I miss the days of having my game in-hand and only paying for expansions or subs where regular content was the reward for my money.
  13. Hey! I recognize that Lady. Mercy enjoyed teaming with you all the other night. Thanks for letting her tag along.
  14. Please tell me you have a Moo-gatu character too. Mental manipulation, perhaps. "I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!"
  15. Also, doing Ouro flashbacks is a nice way to pick and choose.
  16. 1. Mina Blastwythe 2. Penumbral Pendulum 3. Shivershock 4. Skadi Thorsdottir 5. Thorne Darkenchilde
  17. There's a lot of fantastic costumes here! Figured I'd get over being camera-shy and post a few of mine too. 1 .Aetheruin 2. Ebonwood 3 .Jovia 4. La Dame Cryptique 5. Magentine 6. Mercyground
  18. Check out IGN's 'City of Heroes Diary' series from back in the day. It's a real walk down memory lane! https://www.ign.com/articles/2003/07/23/city-of-heroes-diary-volume-1 https://www.ign.com/articles/2003/08/21/city-of-heroes-diary-volume-2 https://www.ign.com/articles/2003/09/17/city-of-heroes-diary-volume-3 https://www.ign.com/articles/2003/10/16/city-of-heroes-diary-volume-4 https://www.ign.com/articles/2003/11/13/city-of-heroes-diary-volume-5 https://www.ign.com/articles/2003/12/10/city-of-heroes-diary-volume-6 https://www.ign.com/articles/2004/01/08/city-of-heroes-diary-volume-7 https://www.ign.com/articles/2004/02/05/city-of-heroes-diary-volume-8 https://www.ign.com/articles/2004/03/03/city-of-heroes-diary-volume-9 Enjoy!
  19. As a brand new player back in the day, (granny voice) I was advised to make a scrapper first. It was a good choice because you'll survive more than a squishy, and do more damage than the tanky types. (I won't go into how that may or may not be true later in the game because that's pretty irrelevant to someone just learning the ropes, imo) I had a lot of fun learning with that toon. Did I die a lot? Yep. Did I learn why I died? Yep! Point being, don't be upset if you die often. That's just the game teaching you your limits/deficiencies at any given time. You'll get better as you sort out the finer points of playing any archetype you choose. I hope you have a friend playing who can be an in-game mentor or find an SG willing to help you learn. I play almost entirely solo these days but I've also played CoH before. I imagine it's a bit more difficult starting out now as all you see are the calls for SPEED SPEED SPEED.... IO's only... Incarnates Slotted only... Don't be discouraged; there are people out there who will help ya. The Help chat will always answer any question you have in-game. If you want to venture out into teaming just say something like "New player LFT" so folks will know you're prolly not going to want to steamroll through stuff. Happy hunting and welcome to the City!
  20. I would keep the gifts of large amounts on a tight leash. You're already using some judicious assessment of who to give that to, I would just add to be sure they are someone your Global friends list. These would be people (I assume) you've played with on a regular basis and could better assess if there will be some longevity in the use of your gift. For new and/or returning players, I would limit it to no more than 10 million and some advice on a few quick-sale market tips to keep them going. I say this as one of the recently returned because of a few considerations: 1. I have/had to decide what server I was going to settle in on. 2. What character will/have I take to 50+ and feel it's worth the investment? 3. How many alts am I going to go through before I decide on those considerations? ...and so on. I'd probably conjure up some type of contest. That way there's still at least some type of effort given to getting the gifts. Handouts do seem to take away the sense of accomplishment, and therefore, incentive to work on their character. /e shrug
  21. Power creep isn't a new phenomenon. There's only so much that can be added to any game before it's simply time for the sequel. Think of every game you've played ever. How many expansions did you play before you reached the pinnacle and got bored? How many were older games you found long after release and were bored because you were the noob and were left in the dust by those looking down their noses at you, you lowly worm. lol That said; I barely just came back about 3 months ago. I don't have any uberleet characters yet and might not for quite some time. I have one level 50 in the Incarnate range (working on Tier 2 of all the things) and have completely solo'd her to that point. I have only teamed up a couple times on a few different characters. For the most part, I was bored because everyone else was in roflstomp mode and I'm just starting out. (I'm not passing judgement or criticizing people for the way they like to play, nor am I whining; it is what it is) I think if the new content was approached as incarnate expansions, that would be great. It would give people in that range something else to do for merits, etc. Even better if the WTF/SF can be offered in such a manner that separates by character level (i.e.-no sidekicks for Incarnate stuff and vice versa) That approach could, imo, maintain the integrity of the experience for everyone. Other than that, this is a great opportunity for the volunteers working on the current state of things to maybe get together and make an (unofficial?) CoH/V 2.
  22. Welcome home :D Don't feel bad, I just found out in May. Someone replied to a comment of mine on an old CoH vid on YouTube mentioning HC. Color me surprised...lol Do you feel like a noob all over again? I know I do! Glad to see more of us coming in from the cold. Happy hunting!
