Yes, there is a fireplace piece you can place in your bases and you can modify it to make it look even cooler. Some examples in one of my own bases, The Slayers Keep:

There's nothing wrong with it (IMO).

This is not a huge deal or anything that I would expect to be a high priority, but I thought I would mention it just because it picks at me: It would be great if, instead of screaming ROLEPLAYING at you in bright, pink letters, when you set yourself to RP status, it would just say RP, instead. I like that other players can tell if I'm a role-player at a quick glance, but I think the designator could be less glaringly intrusive, while still easily identifiable.

The kicker here, is you said you want to get into pvp. If this is the case, then pick your Sentinel if you would like to lose very match. Otherwise, go with the blaster. I can't advise you on how to optimize a character for pvp, as I don't pvp. I do know that, in terms of raw power, the Sentinel is weaker than every other combat-focused AT because of weaksauce dps (although Beam is not terrible for a Sentinel and I do have a BR Sentinel that I enjoy in PvE play).

Yeah, you start to notice that 'glitch' in the Matrix when your super-speedster beats up the guy trying to yank the purse out of the ladies hands, makes a lap around the neighborhood, then comes back around to the same guy, yanking on the same ladies purse, in the exact same spot, all over again. 😁

I have often desired city streets as a placeable in my bases. It's darned challenging to construct your own (at least, to make them look believable). It can be done, but it's a genuine pain. Also, it would be great if we could more easily make ground that represents different terrain types besides grass: Desert/Scrub, Arctic, Swamp, etc. Again, you can make these (I've managed an Arctic enviro, myself) but it's very tedious. Even just making the grass plates tintable might go a long way towards achieving this.

A macro'd Combat Teleport will change your life- especially if you're a melee AT or a Blapper. Do it. Do it now. 👍

Possibly less good at wrecking stuff, but Tankers are always a safe bet. Survivable for most any content and generally welcome in PUG's for drawing aggro and anchoring the team. I would stay away from controllers, blasters, and sentinels, given your requirements. Controllers and Blasters can be trickier to solo and Sentinels are often not greatly desired on teams (although I have never been denied a spot on a team while playing mine- so far as I know, anyway).

Read a couple online. They were pretty awful, IMO. I can understand a collector wanting to get a full set, though. Just for completions sake.

It's surprisingly enjoyable to attempt strange builds that accomplish the same things a particular AT does well, in offbeat ways, through the combination of odd and quirky powers. I do this myself- often for thematic/rp reasons but also, occasionally, just as a thought experiment. It's always fun when it turns out to work better than you expected.
