  1. I think for some people, they are looking to connect with like-minded players. Most of the players in CoH are running lvl 50 characters (this is not merely my opinion, it's fact. Use the search function in game at any time of the day or night, then order the list by character level. You will see it is true). This makes it harder to find people that want to level slowly via story arcs and such. I would say that the team combat of the game is probably most balanced and satisfying at the 35 to 45 lvls. However, on PUGs you almost always have at least one (usually several) incarnate, which changes the group dynamic sufficiently to make it unsatisfying to play at those levels. This is one reason why I started levelling to 50 quickly. I fit more easily into most groups. I do believe in allowing everyone to enjoy the game in their own way, though. We are lucky to have a game that accommodates so many different play styles (low and high lvl, single and multi-player, rp and action, even some pvp, if that's what you enjoy). P.S. @Diantane Having said all of that, given the tenor of many of your other posts, I think Luminara has some very good points in their post, above. You complain a great deal about how various AT's and powers function, but many of those don't come into their own until higher levels and judicious slotting make them very useful and fun.
  2. Remember that the controller is there to benefit the entire team. Immobilizing the mobs prevents them from chasing after squishier members of the team and allows scrappers and stalkers and such to trim the herd outside of the tanks taunt/AOE. The controller is considering what is beneficial to the entire team- not just the tanker.
  3. Anyone who has a teenager should know that lots of young people watch gaming streams. I used to observe, baffled, when my son would stare at a video of someone playing a game for literally hours at a time. He couldn't get enough of that stuff. Did I get the appeal of it? No. I still don't- but that is besides the point. People definitely DO watch game streams with great enthusiasm.
  4. Also, Superman is part of the Justice League. The Justice League has Batman. Batman not only has a plan to de-fang every Justice League member should they go rogue, he also monitors and has plans for every threat to Earth and the Justice League itself, because Batman. In fact, Batman- via his expansive list of arcane and super-science contacts, gathered over the course of his extensive career, has just read this post. Using his incredible resources, he located the Dragon-Ball Z universe, analyzed it's dimensional resonance, and has a cascading dimensional booby-trap that will instantly trigger if anyone from the Dragon-Ball Z universe attempts to access our dimension. This causes their universe to collapse into a super-dense cosmic bon-bon, which is then teleported directly into the refrigerator in the base of The Legion of Super Heroes. Matter Eater Lad is then summoned to eat the bon-bon, after which, he quietly farts. Goku = pwned.
  5. @Solarverse Hey, I appreciate the update and the context at the beginning of your OP. There's a lot to this game, and a broad variety of play styles of people that play the game, so kudos to you for acknowledging that. I have occasionally felt some of the frustration that you experienced, back when you first made your post. I will say that I've been quite lucky and most controllers I've played with are very skilled. I really appreciate a good controller on a team- particularly when I'm playing a brawler or a ranged attacker with AOE and I can get the mobs immobilized in a nice little clump together. 😁 As someone who plays a Tanker a certain amount of the time, I don't mind Knockback attacks that make me chase mobs (I have combat teleport to deal with that). But for those that ARE annoyed by KB, I think having a good controller with strong lockdown can alleviate a lot of the KB "angst" for those guys.
  6. Snarky, it's okay, dude. You're grandfathered in. 😄
  7. I like the AT, even though it does underwhelm when compared to other combat-oriented AT's. I feel it needs a bit more range (more than it has presently, but still less than a blaster, of course. Maybe in the 70-80 range) and a bit more damage (again, not as much as a blaster, scrapper, stalker. Close to- but just a hair under- a Brute, maybe). You could also tweak the damage aspect by just buffing the signature AT ability a lot. That might actually be the best way to go. I like the class, though. It fits a lot of my character concepts and I do play it. It just needs a little work to make it as appealing as the other combat AT's, is all.
  8. Love the idea. Maybe someday. The current MSR is probably the most boring trial in CoH.
  9. Middle-aged, Mutant, Kung-Fu Tortise! Middle-aged, Mutant, Kung-Fu Tortise! 😁 👍
  10. No, but you want to ditch Tequila and download the Homecoming launcher. It just works more smoothly IMO.
  11. This a ridiculous suggestion. I fully endorse it.
  12. I hope not. Part of why this game is so amazing is because it accommodates a broad variety of play styles. I would not want to prevent people from enjoying low level and/or non-IO set play, any more than I want to prevent players from enjoying incarnate level play. I think there is room in this game for everyone to get a bit of what they want. The Dev's seem to understand this and I don't see them trying to shut out one style of play now, or at any time in the future. If they intended to do that, we would already have a very different game than the one we have. But, yes, it's possible some players will make such a request. This would be (IMO), pretty silly. 🤷‍♂️
  13. I honestly haven't played Stalkers very much, but this is a very thorough breakdown and evaluation of the At and its power sets. Thanks for posting this! 👍
  14. The game presently allows you to achieve this level of power, but to what purpose? Those of us (including me- and I only started playing CoH when Homecoming came online) asking for more challenging content simply want content that is fun in relation to playing characters at the level of power that the game allows us to achieve. Presently, the standard content for a group of characters of this level of power is simply too easy, and therefore boring. Offering such content will not make the other, lower power/level content go away. Nor will it prevent players from playing without incarnate abilities or +5 purple set IO's, if that is what they desire, or forming groups of such characters, if that is what they prefer. Nor does it prevent the Devs from adding more content or features that support non-incarnate level play (even though the game already has plenty of that sort of content, and basically nothing that really challenges groups of high-tier, tricked out, incarnates). I don't see this as unreasonable, or why other players are threatened/offended by what seems to be a reasonable/logical request. The only other way to go is to remove incarnate powers and IO sets from the game. This would make content reasonably challenging for people at all levels, I think. As long as such things exits, however, people naturally enjoy tricking out their characters with all the bells and whistles available to them (I now that I certainly do). It's just that we want group content that is fun to play when your team is sporting all of those bells and whistles.
  15. I have no idea what percentage of players are from live and I wouldn't want to hazard a guess. I can say that I never played during live but have played consistently since the first few months that Homecoming came online.
  16. If you're just talking about a wish-list, I guess there are a ton of things it would be cool to have: 1) As mentioned, Female and male "Huge" gender types. I actually wonder if the easier way to do this would just be to add the female gender face options as options for the Huge gender type? 2) The ability to choose multiple symbol types. Or have both under and over symbol choices for chest detail. It would be cool if we could choose three different greek symbols to make our SuperFrats/Sororities. 😆 3) More animal head types: Shark, Elephant, Gorilla, Badger, Beaver, Platypus, Frog, Preying Mantis- whatever is cool and interesting. 4) Better designed weapons. We have a few cool-looking weapons, but most of the guns and melee weapons are either pretty bland looking, very inaccurate replicas of real-world weapons, or both. Whenever I view the weapons choices, I always feel like the person that got the job of modelling those, just wasn't really into making weapons and half-assed it so they could get done with the job and move on to something they found more enjoyable to do. 5) Chain weapons (Flails, ball and chain, chain with hook, meteor hammers, whatever) for mace and/or titan weapons. Honestly, there are tons of things, but a small, volunteer team only has so much time in the day to work up new content. I think we have to keep our expectations realistic, here. 😁🤷‍♂️
  17. Amazing! I'm so excited for Ahsoka, BoBF, and the next season of The Mandalorian. Such a great time to be a Star Wars fan! 😁👍 Now, if only they could make movies as good as the live-action series. 😛
  18. Yeah, you can't have two stealth powers active at the same time (you CAN have something like infiltration active with sprint and a stealth IO, though).
  19. It's cool and fun, but it ultimately lacks the utility of the comic-book version because you can't use it to run up the side of buildings or phase through walls, etc. It's also not terribly useful in cramped battlespaces like tunnels/corridors. Getting vertical has always been the most useful travel power in the game, so flight, hover/ etc. are the best, especially in combat. For melee types, combat teleport is my go-to movement power. For blappers, hover+combat teleport allows you to dance in and out of melee/ranged combat with near impunity on teams.
  20. They can be situationally useful, but I feel like they would be more useful if they were modelled more closely on the T9 Willpower version. Instead of becoming godlike, then being drained of pretty much everything, it gives a strong (but not overwhelming) boost for a long time, then takes a decent chunk of your endurance (but generally not enough to cause immediate cascade failure in a hard fight, if you're keeping your eye on your endurance bar). The hard crash T-9's, I typically avoid. I just find it more useful to have a lower tier but more generally reliable power. YMMV, of course.
  21. There is clearly some form of "Hell", as the game mentions girlfriends from Hell, there is a gang called the Hellions, ect. But it's also clear that the CoH universe exists within a larger multiverse of many dimensions, so there could be any number of different versions of underworlds/hells (or even no Hells at all, in some dimensions). So you might imagine/view "Hell" from the lens of any real-world religion and/or myth or fictional source, including novels, movies, TV shows, or comics.
  22. Well, FASERIP had a colored chart. Spidey's baseline Strength was Incredible (10 tons), but with a yellow feat roll he could push that into the 50 ton range, representing a massive, all-out focused effort. You're right, of course, that the writers mostly ignored the stats of the RPG, but many of the powers/stats (STR, at least) in the RPG were probably derived from the Official Handbook to the Marvel Universe Comics that starting coming out in the early 80's. I always felt the RPG stats were reasonably accurate, in most cases, based on the abilities of the characters during that era.
  23. I'm trying to figure out what would be the advantage to doing it this way. You can store as much as you want in the /AH and your email.
