  1. My current love is Elec/Elec for a Dom. Mobs with no End cannot fight back.
  2. I play Doms and Blasters in melee, daily, even tanking for the group. Saying either is wrong in CoH is one of the most silly and uniformed viewpoints I have read, TBH. I get compliments. So, trying to tell people Doms and Blasters have to play at range in the current CoH state is simply misinformation.
  3. I run the game out of downloads just fine, no problems, I use these maps and the Icon fixes. Running the game in downloads is not different than running from any other HD location. How is it, in any way, a 'bad idea', at all? HD space is HD space until you start talking about inner and outer platter speeds or something... What 'headache'?
  4. That happens. But when you do that, to yourself, all the time...yeah, that's just...yeah. With the KB -> KD I might try it again though, I liked the character concept....

They have allowed me to rant about the things no one wants to talk about, like internal feelings and motives, so yeah, it seems to me like anything goes provided you are not actively attacking another poster or breaking another direct Forum Rule. I try to bring every discusssion down to the Why and they have only spoken up when it seems to have realy ticked off someone for making them think. And the cat looks like he is daring you to try and take His dice. Never let the Cat GM, it does not end well IME...
  6. The tree is not a Skill Progression Tree, it is simply a map to create things. Edit: What he said a few milliseconds before me up there, yes.
  7. The 'womp' sound that occurs from using movement keys because the power is recharging is annoying to many. I have tried a bunch of tricks, including programming my game pad thing, but nothing really does it well IME, they all seem janky. Since I click on powers to activate them rather than use keys, I just put Hasten on the same trays my most used powers are and add it to my rotation, as it were. I even keep my auto power visible, because CoH happily lets me skipp it if I que powers too fast anyway and I have to click it now and then to make sure... I know that is a cop-out, but my Dominator has enough recharge cushion for it to work fine and it's not such a dire need on my SD/MA guy anyway, just handy. The auto-firing in the game seems like an afterthought...
  8. To your wealth building from all the experiments, I did the same thing. Played around with a bunch of old and new concepts coupled with years of playing other games and stuff, before settling down on a couple I really liked. In the process, all of the stuff they gained got pushed to only one, that one hit 50 and is now funding the others. Worked out great. My goal now is to seek out the content I never did on Retail Live... Like you, I tend to do that same content on my characters. I am determined to do all the things!
  9. I care because I am a life-long geek and I am tired of seeing geeks berated for changing things when all they are doing is trying to grow and improve the situation. I see this _hourly_ in my RL and in the gaming community - people using passive-agressive emotional guilt in an effort to make geeks feel bad for trying to improve things, because those people cannot or will not keep up and want everyone else to slow down... I have gotten really tired of having other poeple try to tell geeks to stop innovating while at the same time yelling at them because the cheese was moved. My only hope when doing these things is simple - that people take a moment to examine why they have chosen to put down another person, _even when they have convinced themsleves they did not say anythign bad_. Language and inuendo matter, here on these forums another poster in particular _constantly_ spews this type of passive-agressive stuff and then claims they never meant it that way, for example. When I and other call it out, we become the 'bad guys'. That is about as clear as I can be on it, I think. If this makes _me_ the 'bad guy', I can live with that, we are all trapped in our own delusions.
  10. All I can do is read the language presented. When that language is classically used as a weapon to denigrate, I get pissed off, we are who we are. IMO, the entire _idea_ of, in anyway, berating, dismissing, shaming, etc. over the fact something so trivial as someone else having changed a few pixels on a game forum they control is abhorrent. Really. At this point in my life, I have simply decided to _not_ 'let it slide' anymore if I have the opportunity to confront it. If, in fact, confronting peoples motives for the (IMO) passive-agressive 'dissing' of other gamers and game runners is not something you guys want here, then I guess I am done posting anything... "Why?" and "How?" are the only intersting things to me...
  11. The change is neither regrettable nor is is unfortunate, both of which imply 'wrong' on the part of HC. The entire implication of 'change for the sake of change' is an ageist and deregetory outlook meant to make the people changing things feel bad about doing it because it is 'meaningless.' Your posts were meant to make the HC team 'feel bad' about having 'changed for the sake of change', IMO, the way they are presented and worded. Even 'dissappointed' has the whole 'elder telling the child' they have done wrong. If, in fact, you really did not mean any of these things, then I will be plesantly suprised...

  14. I do SecDevOps for a living, I am wondering the same. It sounds like the lever they use to make accounts cannot be tickled by the new forum code...as in it is not 'allowed' to execute the script or something like that. Could be backgroud reasons, but this seems to be the big one. Would be happy to help, but I think they have a lot of cooks in the kitchen...

  16. No shame. Shame implies guilt and wrong-doing. What has been done here is not shameful, even if it 'disappoints'. It's a frickin' Internet forum color scheme, not a sin against humanity. Fine, you don't like the changes. Trying to literally make the HC team feel _shame_ or any other negative emotion over changes they felt like making on thier servers is BS. If you don't like the format, use one of the many plug-ins for browsers that alter interfaces, not passive-aggressive guilt.

  19. But they are the same entity. They aren't in competition. And in the budgeting process it'll be clear they are going to get zero rev from microtransactions, so the revenue target won't include microtransactions. And they'll know which studio genererated which microtransactions based on the game the were purchased in, so it's not like the studio can't say how much $$ they generated for ncsoft. I’m not tryig to be obtuse or argumentative, i just really don’t get why we think NCSoft was at odds with Prargon Studios... Williwaw has the right gist IMO. Companies play the shell game all the time to decide what part made money. Reality and facts are just tools to be exploited by accounting firms, IME. I have watched people do it in RL.
  20. No different than 'retail live' IME, I saw all the same things, with _more_ 'baby birds' wanting to be fed and _more_ toxic trash-talk. The HC servers have been nothing but a joy to play on for me. I also stay out of Atlas Park and I always keep my chat tabs quiet in all MMOs, I get to control that. Gaming has become more mainstream in that last few years. More mainstream equals more people, more different points of view, more playstyles. That means more people trying to tell other people that is 'right and wrong' _in a video game_ ... just like CoH Retail Live ... where even the publishers of the game made moral judgements on players ... not a good look ... CoH has always had a vocal minority that think the game should (only) be played a certain way, right down to the chat box. The general lack of emotional maturity in the gaming community, the fact that the 'old timers' that think the game is (only) to be played 'as it was', and Nostalgia Goggles has made many of the posts I see about this game literally sound like they are coming from my southern grandmother that thought dancing was a sin. We have this awesome game again, yet gamers still want to put other gamers in little boxes and make them follow 'the right rules' and look for the 'enemy' and berate others for how they choose to play. There are always people in the world that that can rub you the wrong way, so /gignore and move on, please don't try to paint with broad strokes just because some humans just like to be asshats. Play your way, let others do the same, and ignore them if they are just rude people, don't blame that on 'modern gamers' or 'the new community.'

  23. I play Elec/Elec/Mu. I have my ranged at about 37% and energy/negative about the same, the rest are lower. S/L at about 44% resists. On a team of virtually any size, especially with my Bane buddy, I am capped to the point I may as well be a tank - they cannot hit me at range and by the time I get close, they have no energy. For me, there is a happy medium of 'good enough' on the Domintors because of how the AT works. For other ATs, I push to get the cielings.
