  1. What word would you prefer... Insulting? Pushy? Pedantic? Unneeded? Short-sighted? Rude? Condescending? They all fit I think.
  2. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Wow. Sparing with bullies that think they have the right to dictate the teams time makes me a 'white knight'? So no we are using kindergarten Internet-speek? You are trying to bully the HC team into conforming to your tiny little world view over the pedantic semantics of how and when information should be issued. I think bullies suck, and not in a good way. Period. Does not have anything to do with this team, this game, anyone of the individuals here specifically. Bullies are Evil, you are being a bully, even in your attempts to act like you are a saviour.
  3. Wow. I thought people like this were just memes, not real. You actually think you are somehow educational or helpful. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHA! Just wow. The only failure in this instance is your pedantic attitude.
  4. Do you go out of your way to pedantically criticize all of the volunteers and other people in your world for not being perfect? You choose to do this insulting and pedantic stuff. Are you perfect?
  5. IMO, people often outgrow something and then feel this way. Just an opinion. The hollows was never hard, IMO, just dangerous to navigate, which is annoying, not hard, IMO. I see the the refrain of "This game went from being challenging to easy." on every single game board on the Internet I visit. The rub for me is that what so many people refer 'back' to as 'hard' was just tedious and/or time consuming, tricking the brain into making it seem more valuable, IMO, or was nothing more than a puzzle you had to simply learn to avoid or that once learned, made it trivial. What so many gamers want, IME, is the 'feeling of playing it the first time', after they mastered it. Monotonous and time consuming do not count as 'hard' to me. I see wanting to 'make games hard like they were' as chasing smoke... As the saying says, "you can never really go home" ...
  6. Feelings? I personally don't have an emotional attachment to any zones, areas, characters, in any MMO because in most case they always change - living worlds. In a comic book based game with multiple dimensions and 'things', even moreso, IMO. I have _always_ looked at changes, glitches, and bugs in MMOs from the character's PoV - the Gods, they are Fickle - been like this since I played/made MUDs. At a fundamental level, I don't understand how the pull of nostalgia that can make a person want to change the rules, 'dial back the clock', or 'make things they way they were', because my brain does not do that, it looks at the current rules/reality and decides the next move, rather than defaulting to changing the rules/reality. I am not lying or trying to troll when I say I don't 'get' people wanting to go 'backwards', my brain chemistry really does not understand, other than from the general intellectual perspective of 'they like it'. I don't dwell on or get riled by changes in games, they don't bother me years later... Watched Battletech grognards grouse over a single rule for 30 years. Watched the ED and other arguments here for years. Seen Magic The Gathering players burn cards over game changes. The list goes on and on, been a gamer for 40 years. I have had favorite things get changed and become non-favorites, I have had non-favorites become favorites, for those that might want to accuse me of being 'lucky enough for MMO changes to not _ruin my main I poured time and emotion into_", been there, just means I get to make a new favorite or get new things for my current, a new puzzle to solve. Yeah, I am Crey Crey to many humans, or so I am told, but I see nostalgia as a mental trap that prevents one from growing...even if that thought is not mainstream.
  7. This, 1000x, as they say nowadays. It's not the wierd concept characters at all, it's the agrresively useless 'healerz' trying to tell the rest of us we are doing it wrong. I'll keep them in my team, I don't really ever kick, but when they are both useless AND toxic with thier 'healerz' mentality, then I don't want to play with them. I know in many if not most MMOs, healers are 'worshiped'. IMO, many of those same players are still angry that the playstyle they prefer does not exist here. I have seen many rants in FFIV as an aexample, where 'healers' are _angry_ they have to do any DPS. Play how you like, I'll play with you. That does not change the fact that the 'traditional MMO healer build' is not terribly useful in CoH. It certainly does not change the fact that many of us don't need other players teling us our great support is 'wrong' when there are not auto-heals running for no good reason, etc.
  8. They are fabulous. Just like the posters here that are kind enough to, the Mantis Shrimp shows us it's true colors. I do wish we had a larger color wheel in-game to match some of these vibrants.
  9. It amazes me in that in 2019 with the Internet at ones fingertips that one can still be this aggressively ignorant. Humans find amazment in a great many things.
  10. For me, it starts with the name. The name is the spark for the rest of the character - the look, the powers - it all has to work with the name. Silly names, punny names, double entendre, homage, etc. are all fair game for me. The character gets created if the Name can be matched to a Look and Powers. Many do not make it past this stage, or it takes time, because even our crayons have limits. At that point, I play it until 22, IO it, play it more with basic IOs, and then decide if it will last. But ... the Name starts is all for me, I don't start with AT or powers, I like to build the Character that fits the name and if fun, min/max it later.
  11. Having like an event weekend every month would be OK with me. Just rotate through them, no more than about once a month. You could even have the GMs "leading the attack on Paragon's timeline stability" through an in-game force or something. All kinds of creative reasons the events could be occuring. I really would prefer and more enjoy the timelines and events in the game if they are not tied to RL. In a comic book universe, it is not hard for me to imagine a Winter World and a Halloween World... I don't much care for the whole 'we do things things at this time of year and don't do them otherwise' mentality, I do what I want to do, when I want to do it... DINK - Dual Income, No Kids. Not much of a traditionalist. :)
  12. Not here to work. I know you also use the word earn as well. I am here to enjoy a game, not to work, period, I am here to Play. I do not need the Protestant Work Ethic that so many players seem to want to push on the rest of us to enjoy a game. I don't need other players judging my 'worth' on if I have acquired the 'right badge' or 'enough prestige to rise in the SG'. I certainly don't need people trying to tell me I value free things less than other things I acquired, that is MY choice to make, thanks.
  13. This is the thing for me. Some people seem to think 'if something makes a profit, it is automatically a success', etc. A large company looks as says, 'if I invest X millions and Y people I make Z profit'. If I can invest 1/2 X and 1/2 Y and make 2x Z, wouldn't you, over making 1/2 the profit? Sure, I am no NCSoft fan in terms of thier business case choices of shuttering MMOs, but they have increased profits tremendously with thier current business plan. Not to mention the fact that there are also data bits that lead many to think it was also an internal power move. 'Personal drama' can be the same in corporations as in a household. This whole 'but they could just' refrain, because there might be $5 dollars to be made, is woefully uninformed, even if well-intentioned.
  14. I generally open with the confuse if there are any mezzers. It does not spread to the whole mob usually, but is does lower the alpha stikes I take considerably. I am not currently trying to fully min/max the character, still exploring, but I like the confuse so far. I like having a vareity of tools in general though as well... It has gotten me out of trouble a number of times as well, confusing the 2-3 mobs that would have otherwise knocked me out late in a fight when I had no more greens...
  15. I have my Electric/Electric Dom at 31 right now. She is so much fun to play! I have to solo carefully, controling the mobs before they can attack too much, but it is fun. On live, I had a Mental/Electric/Cold Dom that really 'broke the game' and this one plays very similarly due to the confuse in Electric control, so I am hopeful I can get the right IOs to make her a god.
  16. This is great world building and immersion, adding something interesting beyond having events based on RL, IMO. Allowing the game world to have it's life and dimensions is very fun to me.
  17. Personally, I would prefer all RL events to never enter my MMO, I play for the escape from RL. The Halloween and Winter events are both a bit more broad than something like July 4, so they work OK in an MMO, but are still a grey area for me. To be clear, I am not a terribly social guy and I don't go to these parties in RL either. IMO, MMOs should have events based around thier own worlds. SInce CoH is supposed to be literally in Rhode Island, in the United States, the city celebrating US events make sense in the lore and any event can be a reason for some kind of conflict from a bad actor. So IMO, seeing the city decorated for these events because of it's location makes sense. However, making these events do much of anything for the players other than creating some interesting encounters/missions due to 'bad actors crashing' the event. Doing the whole 'you must play during this time to get this reward' is straight out of the MMO Retail Playbook and I personally don't like to be force fed a carrot. So, having the City celebrate these things is all well and good, IMO, but having the event for the Players can kill the escape in many ways for me.
  18. If you have not experienced an issue, what's the problem? Anecdotal stories from others are not something I personally use to make my choices in life. :) On the other servers, there are plenty of players that will assume all sorts of things about how you should be playing. :)
  19. I run story missions solo and duo, then group up for radios/TFs when I feel like it. Love all of it, in no real hurry, got 3-4 around level 35-40. I just like playing the game, I don't plan anything much, I don't purposefully lay out paths for characters or anything, I just like creating characters and arresting bad guys. What others call grinding and farming I just call having fun playing a game, I guess. I make up my own stories for the most part and listen to the voices in my own head, so I just like the pretty lights and the variety of individuals I can create and the beatdown they can bring. It really is a 'video game' to me at the end of the day, just one I can be more creative while playing, so the levels and rewards 'just happen' because I like to play the game, so my main level up is "however it happens, I generally don't watch closely".
  20. Are the Lt. vs Minion spawn numbers random? I find I do not get exactly the same XP all the tima as well from my PoV. No big deal, just odd from my PoV. Since I have a curious mind I would like to know Why though. :)
  21. Rouge Angle of Santa would carry the same theme through each word... :)
  22. Seen it personally in WoW, Secret World, STO, SWTOR, and CoH back in the day. The dark tetrad takes many forms.
  23. I came to the same conclusion really. Tried a number of things. For me the bottom line is that at most, I have 3 powers I want on auto, typically only 1 and occasionally 2, so I just click 'em. Sometimes, I enter an instance w/o Domination or whatever, it's not the end of the world. Manual gives more flexibility sometimes as well.
  24. You are Reasonable. That's the issue here, is that the 'whisper Nazis' as I have been told to call them previously, seem to think one is directly insulting _them_ because of a missed tell or slow response. It's in their heads and it is not reasonable...as in their brain chemistry does not allow them to be reasonable in these cases, like most humans. The nice way I like to approach it with people is to say 'I am sorry, my heart does not beat that fast anymore' to try and get them to realize we are not on the same wavelength. Works occasionally. Gamers think of make up from thin air entire volumes of un-written rules when allowed and then use those to beat others into submission with, simply because that is that their peers did with them...that's how this crap gets started. Peer Pressure from Unreasonable and Controlling brain chemistries. Over the years, it has been interesting to watch. MMOs are like a huge social experiment from the right PoV. Very educational, IME.
  25. It depends on what was updated. The client might run fine for a while, then crash or it might not start. Basically, as soon as the client tries to do something you have not downloaded, it will probably crash. No biggie, not anything to worry over.
