  1. Don't buy DOs or SOs or common salvage for tickets. Buy Rare salvage, it costs 540 tickets sell it on the /ah for 500k. After 2-3 runs you'll have all the money you'll need for all DOs or SOs you could want, after about 5 you could make IOs instead. Personally I don't use any but the prestige enhancements until level 22. I also suggest buying all the gabriel's hammer temp attack from the p2w you can at 5k Also you need to turn bosses on solo to get bosses.
  2. I tried that arc, I screwed up and finished it with my bane... I was playing a rogue so it had me helping lord recluse, I was thinking I wasn't to the mission you were showing yet, so kept fighting AVs... at +2. I thought it was odd when I was fighting statesman, manticore and one more at the same time. I kept dying but I eventually killed them all flying up and killing whoever followed me, then going after the ones still on the ground. Then it was over. I realized after rereading that post that I'd screwed up because I was a rogue, and realized that I got ghost widow and black scorpion instead of the heroes. GW and BS are useless punks, GW followed me and died somewhere before I even got to any AVs. BS just sat there on the ramp up, I eventually dragged some AVs over to him since I was having trouble, they killed him lickety split. I'll have to try it with another character, I've almost got my brute to the level he can try it.
  3. Banished has -resists, which are going to be multiplicative with all the damage you already have and is going to be significantly more than the extra damage from KoV. The invuln pet also has a rain of damage of it's own. Say you're at 500% damage and add 30% damage, you're now at 530% which means you really just increased your damage by 6%. 100 damage becomes 106 damage. If you do -30% resists, you just increased your damage 30%, so you're now doing 130 damage. The question is if it can apply those resists fast enough and to enough mobs that you're really doing more than 6% more damage. I think it does, but only time tests would really tell, and those are somewhat random, so it's possible for differences to be drowned out in noise.
  4. What no corruptors? I'd be curious to try one as a corruptor or possibly sentinel, I still haven't tried beam rifle nor sentinel. Any suggestions to secondaries, links to builds? My availability is always unsure, but can try to make it next time.
  5. You can make rare and very rare components from threads, but you need huge piles of them, it's orders of magnitude faster to get them either directly through itrials/da and/or emp merts.
  6. I'd expect you to get it twice with crash, but there's no way to tell without testing it since powers all act different. If Justin's up you can go test it there easily enough.
  7. Actually the backpack goes away if you respec out of Crab, you just can't be a Crab on any of your builds on that character. I know, I did it.
  8. I was told about this a couple days ago, but it took me a couple to figure it out. /Enter_base_from_passcode <basepasscode> ex: /enter_base_from_passcode warpzone-4141 No need to buy the base transporter, takes you right into a base you have the passcode for from anywhere I've tried it so far.
  9. You left out stalker. You left out stalker. Stalker is probably even more kick but, but more one-on-one as opposed to wide area devestation. Op mentioned sword and shield. Check out broadsword/shield stalker thread on the stalker board, it looks pretty good, and hits like a truck. If you don't want the stealth and hitting like a truck, then I'd probably go with that combo on a scrapper.
  10. Arg, I forgot you had to have a pet out to get the hell on earth pets, there goes that idea. I think what I really need to do is revamp my demons/time, I like the sets, but I don't like the concept I've got for him. He's a space-ship that went where people shouldn't go, and the demons are actually the twisted crew-members.
  11. Up to 99, every third level you get emp merits, which you can email, or convert I think it was 50 into another type of merit you can email to make it easier.
  12. Bosses have 25% of dropping something, minions 8% and lts 10.6%. If you can kill a group with no bosses significantly faster, you may be better turning bosses off while soloing. Another way of looking at it is, if you can kill 5 minions or more in the time it would take to kill a boss, you're better off with no bosses. xp/influence I think works a bit more in the favor of bosses, but I don't remember what the ratio was. I think threads drop with the same frequency as other loot, but I'm not absolutely sure. You will get less incarnate xp the lower level you go which means until you're vet level 99 you may want to keep the level higher, however faster killing also means more xp, so you have to find the right balance. I thought turning xp off turned off incarnate xp too?
  13. Wow that sounds like it might be good even not playing that way! I'll have to look into it. If you've got a farmer you could probably find or make a farm with ambushes simlar to that too. There was this info on how to play from your phone with steam link: I can't seem to get that control scheme he has though. It only comes up with like xbox controller controls - ABYX and the 4 arrow keys none of which seem to do anything, it shows other controls I can add, but it doesn't actually work to add them most of the time, and doesn't remember the next time I open it. I can can kind of get around by bringing up the kb and hitting e and q repeatedly which turns like a degree or less, then hitting r to go into auto run and turn it off. It's extremely painful. It does have a mouse which works - left button only though so I can't use mouselook, so I'll do a bit of creating converting and marketing enhancements if I remembered to log out in or near a u and remembered to convert enough merits to converters, but I couldn't see playing (perhaps that mender silos task force though.) It also only goes to tequila if that's open, so I have to have remembered to launch the game and close tequila before I leave home, so the lunch marketing session doesn't happen often.
  14. Update on this build, I tried just taking out the def/end/rech kismet in cloaking device and replacing it with a +6 accuracy, and replacing the lethal proc with an accuracy/immob in WAWG, that worked much better, getting some holds and hitting most enemies most of the time now, and the immob lasting longer than a second. Then I decided to try dropping Placate, Shatter (lower dpa and long wind-up that often hits after things already dead vs. Pulverize) and WAWG. I replaced them with hasten, and the leviathan mastery power school of sharks and artic breath. 5 slots frozen blast in SoS to maintain AoE positional softcap, 2 in hasten and AB, and 5 slots in Call Reinforcements to slot Expedient & a rech io. This feels much better, I can basically hit VG, AB, SoS and repeat while hasten is up when there's a lot of mobs from range, or get close and mix in Crowd Control, or I can go full melee and do Pulverize, Crowd Control, bash and repeat, tossing off build-up and surveillance as they're up. I've been playing with that for about a week, and it feels far faster and much better. I don't really find myself using SoS much as VG is up shortly after AB is finished, kinda wish I could just get AB by itself. I don't miss Placate or Shatter at all, both just felt like they were slowing me down before. WAWG I miss a bit, as if I exemplar much and SoS/AB (which mostly replace WAWG except for the -fly but add more damage and -resist) aren't available, the spider-bots do have WAWG (I think) though, so they can do that when I still have them, but that's still fairly late. WAWG hasn't been all that useful, but I did run I think it was silver mantis with 2 guildmates and no one else and it was really helpful then for the -rech. I'd really like to try out bile spray, but not sure what to drop, I was considering dropping web envelope, but I did a LGTF where having the hold was invaluable against Hammy, and I'm reluctant to drop it now. I know I was considering dropping the pets, but they're really useful on BAF and any time I'm doing +0 to about +2 content. (On the other hand I might just finally make a crabbermind build for that one since I've got all my enhancements on bane side) I was doing +0/x8 Dark Astoria solo and they were great there, they still died fairly often, but once they were still up when the button had refreshed! I suppose I could drop leadership assault, but I like knowing by just hanging around teammates are doing more damage, they still would be, just not quite as much, but that's still a change from support to (possible) DPS which wasn't my intention with this build. All ATOs, Purples etc. are now slotted as well. I can't say anything with S/L ever feels the least bit threatening, I'm thinking I might switch some of the resist bonuses for that out for other types of resistances instead if possible without losing defense. I have died a few times now, like 3-4 times against hammy, and a few times on other iTrials, I didn't check to see if I could tell exactly kind of damage killed me though. Usually if I die once I'm going to die again and again, as whatever it is I'm not resistant enough to (or maybe it's auto-hit, no resist.) Most of the time I don't even ever need a heal. I don't think the fear ATO proc in VG does much, I've seen it, but really only solo against s/l mobs that couldn't hurt me anyway, and even then I still knock them out of the fear with all my attacks. It might be good exemplaring, but I haven't done as much of that recently. I need to look at mob resists too as I'm not sure all the -resist pocs are doing anything, I thought there was some way to do that after using surveillance but haven't been able to find it. I know I could buy a power analyzer, but I hate to do that if surveillance does the same thing. On the incarnate front, I've got all T3s now and am VL 20. I changed from knives of vengeance to banished lore, I like banished much better as the untouchable support has a rain that does a good deal of damage and adds yet more -resist (extra against cold which Arctic Breath does,) and I changed to degenerative from reactive interface, as degenerative does toxic damage, and seems to be one if not the only interface that actually works from what I've been reading. I'm still going to try switching from cardiac to muscl alpha, and destiny from rebirth to ageless to see if I can eek out some more damage without running out of end, I've been accumulating incarnate salvage toward that end. I want to get Judgement to T4 after all that, I'm not sure if I want the hold or not though, It does go off and hit lots of targets, but again I'm not sure it's doing anything since anything holds work on generally aren't anything to worry about, and extra damage might just kill what's been held instead, going to try the T3 without hold first before I make a decision. I also made an incandescence destiny as it was wanted for one of the iTrials, but I couldn't slot it at the time as I kept getting the message that I'd either been attacked or used a power too recently. I'll try to get the current build posted again sometime soon if anyone's interested.
  15. There's your problem, you shouldn't be using AS from hidden in teams, you should be using your heaviest hitting power that can crit, then using AS when AF is charged, you won't have any trouble with jockying for position, and you should be doing more damage faster.
  16. I've seen rather a lot of Demons/Nature lately, a couple yesterday on iTrials, and one on Summer Blockbuster, all different players (consdiering the number of MMs I run across that's a lot.) The demons seemed to survive pretty well. I'm wondering if anyone has one of these, and can go over some of the points/synergies, and/or has a build they could post?
  17. Whips/Time I'd think would be very good (I know I mentioned it briefly before, just going into more detail.) Time is suited to being in close and you can practically lock down mobs then whip them to death, has a nice heal that works on yourself, and eventually a good end and +rech power as well, it's quite possible to soft cap defense too. It's also pretty team friendly. I have a shelved demon/time already that's insanely survivable in the late 20s, I could convert him over. I didn't like how big the demons were and how annoying it was to try to control them to keep them alive while doing time powers and whips, just make an alt build and if anyone gives me gruff I'll switch the build. I'd just use prestige/temp powers to fill in gaps (I really like gabriel's hammer and plasmatic taser) if there are any. And I'd not go entirely petless as I rather like the little electric gremlins from hell on earth.
  18. I made and tried the dark/dark dom, it felt pretty slow. I was disappointed I didn't have the tentacles either, I'm assuming that must be on the defender/corruptor side.
  19. My current bane doesn't have one ninja run+sprint+mental training is very close to ss, I follow ss people around and barely lose ground, arriving within a second or two of them, and I have a higher jump than you do with ss alone. I don't like the mace beams as they do much lower damage than the ranged wolf attacks, just use those if you want ranged attacks instead.
  20. It's looking like Defender or Controller are the leaders, both appeal, but I realized Dom just fits the concept better, even if it isn't the best, it ought to be at least o.k.
  21. There was a fellow I met the other day, all white spectra with the pixel aura names "Invalid Asset" I made new characters, and some more old ones. I always feel my puns are weak, but I'll put some here: Bubble boy - ff/en def actually my most hated character, there's a long story behind him I won't get into from long before CoH, I made him as a challenge to myself. Ghost fish - psi/ice stalker - fish head, his story is he was the fish of ghost widow... Squibbon - a little monkey with the 'organ grinder' look - a red & yellow tux top no pants, and a red and gold hat. He's a Peacbringer of course. Robo Vane - bird headed robot bots/storm. His bots names barometer, hygrometer, thermometer. Haven't gotten to the last two pets yet, but the AS is probably going to be dopplar, not sure what for the other protector bot and little one. I used to have him on live too, though I forget what his robot's names were. Corpse Maggot - little tiny guy with a pale lizard body. Necro/Poison, Nasty looking fellow, with a nasty backstory. A couple ideas I haven't done yet.. My main is hammer based, and I was thinking of more friends for him, maybe a WM/BIO brute, or TW/BIO scrapper named "Maul Rat" Also a tiny martial arts guy named "Lo Pain" Kin/Nin stalker? (I know martial arts, but kin looks so much better) Oh my daughter's 3rd character, she's only 7, I don't think she understands how much of a pun she made, It's a Necro/Dark MM all colored purple with purple powers, her name: Livy Purple. (She came up with Livy, but that was taken so I told her she needed a last name.)
  22. I haven't seen a Tinder joke recently doing DFB. They were on fire when I started. Ba Dum Tss! Then I went on to Positron 1 and the Vahz hurt so bad, I needed an Epidural. Ba Dum Tss! I did Synapse next, I bet you wish you could Surpressor these jokes, but it's going to be a Long Tom. Ba Dum Tss! By the time I got to Ms. Liberty, I was feeling pretty Sardonic. (that one doesn't even deserve a Ba!) Someone made a comment about Tinder's brother in a TF, but I can't find his name or the TF now, Match or Grinder or something? There's also all the great Fr3ksh0w names in the game, ah leetspeak, who'da thought the freaks were living in the past. One more: A hellion a skull and a clockwork walk into a bar, the bartender says "It's a hot time in the old town tonight!" Ba Dum Tss! I am a dad, so all my jokes are dad jokes.
  23. My bane almost feels like toggle man - I at one time had all 6 TT/leadership powers, tough, weave, the stealth, ninja run and sprint going. If you throw in the shield pet I'd have a full bar of toggles going. I dropped the second tactics and cardiac lets me have no end problems. I'd agree with calling for 'bad powerset combos' anyone can gimp themselves. The worst thing I ever played was an ff/energy defender on live, I only made it to level 6. I had to solo because every time I joined a team they'd kick me. I remade this guy a few days ago as a self challenge, he's not quite so bad now, I just soloed him up to 16 or so vs. low level bosses in AE as I was playing at an odd hour when there weren't any DFBs going on (insane right?) I imagine with some Kb-Kd in the right powers he'd even be fairly group friendly. Necro/pain MM on live was another, I actually found it enjoyable though, I probably didn't make it past about 15 and even that took a long time. Really necro goes much better with dark, and I've read some pretty good things about thugs/pain, but necro/pain just doesn't work well even if it looks fun. Fire/Dev blaster on live again. Just the constant faceplanting, it was quite fun again, but faceplanting. I actually enjoyed this character too, but I found it too frustrating to have all this damage, but can't use it, so you might as well be something else that did less damage but could use it. Healing focused sets, I've tried pain, and empathy more than once - I just felt useless if there wasn't anyone to heal, then also useless when I failed to be able to heal fast enough to prevent people dying.
  24. I'm open to any playstyle, I've played it all (except sential.) I'm liking my Bane best of my characters now which is very much a jack of all trades - master of none, and very team focused.
  25. The marvel game scratched the itch fairly well, it wasn't as good obviously, but I did like playing squirrel girl and captain america, and a little bit some of the other characters, but the microtransaction stuff was pretty annoying, having to pay just to store your loot, and unlock character slots, And all the GD loot management! I didn't like CoH's enhancements much, but they're way better than dealing with the loot mess that that game had. DC was pretty fun in the early levels, but I got pointed by the game to missions that were way beyond my abilities and decimated, and found the whole thing too confusing after a bit, the character creator was possibly as good as CoH and I made a couple of characters reminiscent of my CoH favorites. If I'd had friends there who could've showed me the ropes there it probably would've been better. I didn't stick around long, probably less than a month. Warframe is the only one I've played that in many ways I felt was better than CoH. Real easy to get in groups for most things (like how the lfg tab should work,) smaller groups, shorter mission times that I could complete in 15-20 minutes. Some ability to fly or at least leap and run around fast. Superpowers and an huge variety of guns and weapons. A very interesting and engaging story (far beyond anything CoH has I think.) Altitis paradise since you effectively get to play a large variety of supers but yet you're all the same person and have an overall level on that person. I'm not a big graphics whore, but the graphics are way better too. I played 6 months without ever feeling I was grinding (which is the major complaint people have about the game,) but then got to the point I either would've had to dump a bunch of money in it or grind for eternity to make much more progress, and that's what finally did it in for me. I consider myself more taking a break than done with it, but the thought of going back for more grinding doesn't appeal, so not sure I'll ever be going back.
