  1. It is the 4chan server in that it's wild west. And some random internet person thinking they know what's better for someone else? I gotcha: Your new home: https://www.reddit.com/
  2. They're incompatible in code or something? I dunno. But every single thing TS releases is a buggy mess. Cool! Decent concept, but boy is it buuuuugy. They have the Primalist, an AT I would literally make two of( I never make two of the same Epic AT.) if it weren't so buggy/was on here. But alas, incompatibility engine wise 😧
  3. I agree with you here, Az. I take tough and weave on all my 50s. It's like the OG days of having to grab stamina for me back before fitness was inherent. I just...kinda do it, plus even if you don't slot it, if you don't have defense(i.e RadA), you can get either a free mule or some minor def from it. Vice versa for def based sets.
  4. Edit: Doomsinger's pic isn't showing, so for now I will just showcase Battlemage 😛 And below, my obligatory sorcerer with a checkered past who is simply trying to do the best he can for himself and possibly others(Vigilante), Battlemage Steele. Been told his bio gives off Dresden Files vibes so I will now claim that was my plan all along! something something fell into my trap something something.
  5. Blasphemy! Blapper is best melee 😄. Worst would have to be Kin Melee with anything but stalker. You literally don't even get build up.
  6. Nope! They happen periodically on Everlasting too. Seems the server gods are not happy as of late.
  7. Water assault would be amazing! Would mean not having to make Icy for an elemental feel at least >.> Not that Icy really sucks or anything..
  8. Dark Astoria(OG): Very spooky to see as a kid. And awesome, the hollow sound, and the ghost? Awesome. The Chantry: Path of Tears was pretty to listen to, and I made a habit of ALWAYS hearing it whenever I had to go to the zone. Faathim was interesting to see for the first time. Founders Fall: Neat pretty zone that looked like a mini Venice I think? Night Ward: Starry night sky to an avid Stargazer. This zone is a trap for me if I'm not careful Imperial City: It looks like a cleaner version of New York.
  9. Fire Blast/Temporal Manipulation, and probably flight. While Fly is over-played, it's only because it's THAT useful. Sure in the hell beats waiting in traffic. Fire for well...fire. Its' offensive capabilities are needed for self-defense or maybe a little strong-arming, and temporal to heal my wounds/rewind myself when needed, or kinda mess with time for a bit whenever it suits me to do so. As far as what I'd do? Subtly use them for my own personal gain. The hell do I look like? Mother Teresa? 😛
  10. They did kinda. Honestly no excuses, the tank role is to keep the team safe. Easiest goddamn class in the game, easiest goddamn role, and people STILL mess it up. Baffling. It’s why I build my toons for survival. I assume if I’m not tanking, the real “tank” with FUBAR. Not always right but it’s best to assume I will be. I don’t waste my time explaining this to folks unless they ask, instead, I show them up with my blasters/fenders/trollers, then they seemingly get pissed/quit
  11. Same with my Fire/Time! Been seeing a lot of those lately, wonder why? 🤔 Blasters are exactly like cast iron skillets, reliable, little pricey, and generally will last you for a multitude of years or your money back guaranteed!
  12. Sorry about that cringe fest 😅
  13. Haha no you don't. You pulled this crap in CO, and I was wondering how long it would be before you pull this BS here. Look, this isn't CO, so please don't repeat similar mistakes like you did with them. I don't RP in CoH much anymore, time and whatnot, but when I do every once in awhile, it's always chill. There's only one group of folks I will never team with on a regular basis, nor RP with, and usually they mess up Mo runs so I kinda hold that against them :P. But, otherwise the RP'ers here are mostly chill. EDIT: You aren't most people, your opinion isn't -that- important. You are ONE person. I've been with CoH since two years after launch and even -I- don't presume to know everyone here. Your audacity is irritating.
  14. I'd say taunts aren't needed at all to maximize damage, most Ice/Fires, or Fire/* have enough defense to be tanks themselves. I know for a fact mine has the melee hybrid with taunt to purposely tank, as I'm finding more tanks w/o taunt, or who for some odd reason see me charge/nuke ONE mob ONE time( I'm gonna do it again but that's not the point :P), and figure they can cowar behind me let me lead the charge for the rest of the mishs. Still do crazy levels of damage, yet now I am also the tank, and the support partially [Ageless for the low end buddies].
  15. My question always is: What makes a toon feel reduced to these levels? Is it because you don’t do a smattering of damage compared to fire? They shouldn’t, it’s FIRE. Or is it the lack of NEEDING support. My problem is if support is ever NEEDED, I feel many will not be able to progress on their own time anf schedule because they don’t have a support with them. I want folks to feel valued, but never EVER needed.
  16. Okay we may be debating but hang with me here. Maybe it's something like what OP described but tweaked a little(anger towards the supernatural community?) and then go from there? Might have something that could be put into some form of community RP/intrigue. The whole pro-magic, neutral, anti-magic shtick. Might be an interesting ordeal...
  17. Ironically, I don't play god characters (folks may be lead to believe I do. But once more, I felt bad for that elf person RPing, since, you know...RP is just for fun/pretendy times). My take on magic is while the magic itself as an element is limitless, doesn't mean the character is. I like to utilize caster typology to create diverse characters with different abilities, desires, cultures, etc.. and of course, intrinsic limitations. A warlock, of which I have 3 I think, utilizes the stereotypical hell-magic, with different twist of course based on the character and their personality. They have their limits, but are offensively in my canon top of the caster food chain. Even my mages with time magic( chronomancy to be official I guess?) have an interesting take on time. Time for them is viewed as an ocean, and usually is forbidden to practice, not because you'll be bustedly OP, in fact they really only can manifest it in subtle ways(temporal manipulation for blasters, so more self support and soft CC), but because it usually drives the practitioner insane( you try controlling a literal ocean and studying every minute possibility in it :P). *Some addendums I wanted to make: -In no way did I mean to attack the creator of the arc. I don't know their arc from tom dick or harry, so I can't judge what I haven't played. -Talking of true originality; everyone knows true originality is pedantic and impossible, and utilizing it in a debate is the equivalent of what-aboutism for literature. Differentiation creates what is acceptable originality over repetition. This would require me to go into a diatribe on what I believe constitutes story and storytelling that...honestly I don't think anyone wants another diatribe 😛 -I really did feel bad for that poor individual. Being tight-assed on RP doesn't make an aficionado or good RP, it makes for an exclusionary experience. People will not partake in the activity if they feel they can't make a mistake, learn, and still be welcomed back in to try again. Remember folks, we're here to have fun! Unless you're writing a critically acclaimed graphic novel from this, don't take it seriously. (Even if you are. don't take it seriously :P)
  18. Thats a great write up and steps, but I was aiming that question at Two mostly. I was thinking maybe some RP classes for those deemed “bad”? But then thats a bit subjective…
  19. Oh no I wouldnt advocate to RP as a god haha, jusy sayin magic isnt the only origin to have gods I guess? Thats mostly what I was getting at
  20. So then if that's your takeaway, how are you going to solve it? What steps can be taken to alleviate the issues that you perceive? Will you enlighten the offender, offering an amiable solution that will, in your eyes, make them better RPers? I've seen diatribe after diatribe given, yet no concrete solution given to alleviate the issue. Well sure players can identify as gods, but is it so hard to believe that they don't ALL have to be magic or based in magic? What's so difficult to understand about tech or science origin creating gods? I mean, there's quite a few, again, Marvel characters of Mutation origin that are gods or god level. It can happen to other origins. Don't get me wrong, I suppose that I feel for the OP(though this IS only just RP so it's all really moot anyway, my points or otherwise), but that trying to effectively demonize(haha, ironic) an origin or pick apart a counter point to suit your argument against the origin, then claim you're not doing so, is..well, not great. EDIT: I don't have any animosity towards you or anyone, just...trying to get to a solution here.
  21. This is the only point I want to contest. Most folks, regardless of origin will pull from the two powerhouse comics, Marvel/DC. These two have easily a plethora of godmode characters compared to any of the fantasy that I've read(in fact, I'd love to find a fantasy novel where the character itself has god mod level power and use it to hand-waive everything, then they get more than one book, or that even that one book is very well received. Note, a NOVEL, not a comic.). Now, if we're talking ridiculous things such as coming back from the dead, magic does it differently than Sci-Fi, but they both do it pretty often. There are equal amounts of traps for inexperienced RPers to fall into for both Magic or Science. Point 4 has basis, point 3, not really.
  22. https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Mission:Tip_-_Whispered_Rumor Not a whole arc, sure, but a similar premise in one of the options. I should have been more clear on this point. I used tropes when I should have said, "stereotypes". Would have been more apt. Plus, despite what you've listed, those would be very interesting stories, and I'm sure would EASILY draw a large audience if done right( remember, people like different. It's why quirky things get such attention). Superheroic themes( which are part of the genre, and are conventions that are to be expected and can be subverted for even greater effect) are absolutely good to have in CoH for obvious reasons. It's not hard to get people interested in different, you just have to be willing to TRY to be different. Of course, my biggest chip on this event was the exclusion of the elf person. Wouldn't it of helped to let them know of this mistake? Twice now you've mentioned her, did you ever take the time to let her know what went wrong and why?
  23. What's this about a magic based guild I hear? >.> <.< To some slight fairness, TwoDee acknowledged the other origins having similar hand-waivy issues. Though I still agree a lot with what you're saying, even if I myself haven't gotten heavily involved with RP. The elf goddess person didn't kill the scene, the debate probably did. I mean, there's only so much to debate, you have a WMD to handle, right? You need a solution. All she did was just put the nail in the coffin. Take her out of the situation, and given the nature of what I read, someone else would of done the same thing in that group, eventually. Maybe not exactly like that, sure, but they still would of. I think if you wanted to salvage that session, maybe a simple sentence like what Vanguard wrote would of sufficed. I don't know all the tropes/superhero story stereotypes that have been going around in RP, but this has me thinking, because I'm sure this issue has occurred elsewhere; maybe it's time for more creativity on the story side of things? How many times can the same hooks be treaded upon? The same points of contention had? The same story beats and predictable climaxes created before people begin to tire and you get situations like the elf goddess? Hey, maybe even try it from the opposite angle; Why not try some story tropes from the villainous angle? Much harder to write for and forces creative solutions in my opinion. That, I think, can lead to less hand-waivy situations. If not, maybe get rid of any chance of a McGuffin(again, bit harder to do) to even try and force more problem-solving creativity? These are just some ideas I had. May have been tried already, again, not sure, but..eh, it's something.
  24. I've got a Rogue who is from a criminal island similar to the Rogue Isles. While he doesn't have a particular nemesis(yet) from my personal roster, he carries a negative view of Heroes and has actively spoke out against them on several occasions. He relishes the ability to enter into debates with many of them, only to openly point out their hypocrisy in front of all who would listen/watch, or, for the especially egotistical ones, utilize his curse magic to slowly but surely ruin them, if he is able. Some of this hatred is stemmed from him being what is considered a Doomsinger Warlock, one of the most sadistic of his kind, however, most of his hatred stems from their being no one to help on his island, and how other heroes knew much like the Isles how terrible it was, and still left them to fend for themselves. And, much like above, most of my chars are Rogues with a healthy smattering of vigilantes. I suppose a more direct rivalry would be between my freakishly strong Ice & Fire Mage and my sociopath avatar-esque shaman. He lets rip with his power, not caring about any killed when apprehending someone, and she of course is more hero-leaning of my vigilantes. They've butt heads several times, often with environmentally destructive results.
  25. Now this take I really like. Personally I do the same for my chars, but with a slight difference. The ‘main’ characters I have don’t even try to be heroic at all, well except one. They’re rogues. They’ve got powers, but they also have others they’re responsible to, and are young adults themselves. So what happens when you give a young adult magic?(as most of my chars are spellcasters with limitations) They use their magic for their own gain and to try and take care of those close to them, the Marvel BS can be saved for some other deluded cape, in their eyes. This, I think, gives them something to grow off of. Their main struggle is survival first of themselves and those close to them, then morality and greater purpose second.
