I agree with this take. I never read any comics besides neil gaimen’s sandman, and as such, have no comics to recreate even if I wanted to( I don’t). But I do have a lot of inspiration to pull from from other sources. And I tend to follow your same approach

Kinda? Could be a coincidence though. On my alt account I have a scrapper named Geode Thief, and saw someone in ouro named Geode Marauder. They zoned before I could observe their costume but maybe they were a fan 😄

Without procs? yeah no it’s terrible damage. But thanks to procs it won’t have to rely on /Fire to carry! That being said, terrible damage or not, you can still do pretty decently with it! I just once again wouldn’t go in with the thought of being in top damage on a team

People forget, not every set plays like a ho hum cookie cutter ez i win button set. Leveraging melee on a fender with poison is key( and easy af too. I mean..it’s not even expensive I- nvm going off on a tangent :P)

I love my poison/fire fender. And, seeing that poison has its best values on a fender, it does kinda make me blind to say, the woes of the MM using poison( I mean, it’s not HORRIBLE on MM, and absolutely shines in PvP like always and AV hunting but still.). I played poison back when the debuffs were ST only and it still wasnt horrible. Now? Saying it needs help? Well, I just chalk it up to build advice on the forums from a non min max perspective. Just nod and walk away…

I’ll have to disagree on the Dark Armor comment. Rad is Dark but, maddeningly better. In fact, every time I look at DA when making a brute I think, why not just be Rad Armor? Don’t get me wrong DA is exceptable. But compared to Rad it’s very much lacking.

Oddly enough, I knew of CoH before anything listed above! Fair point though. But, just cause you dont know of or follow Marvel, DC, etc…doesn’t mean you can’t know of CoH. I mean in today’s landscape it’s harder to not know of Marvel and DC but I was a kid playing this way back. And back then, Marvel/DC weren’t all that mainstream, if at all, at least in my experience. Also I play it ‘cause it’s good, I’ve been here since ‘06, and cause I want to. Problem? 😝 jk on the snark.

This here is why I thank whatever entity out there that I never watched, was interested in, or even heard of this TNG growing up. It’s great if they know it, but it only leads to…well this. Same thing for not caring about LOTR or Star Wars. Or Marvel, or DC. Huh…guess I really did miss all the major points of contention in regards to “nerd” culture

I view CoH from the lens of Invincible. At least for my characters. Maybe a lil Dresden files too, seeing as most are magic haha

Well this went beyond the threat, but still true. But, back on thread a lil. My character’s alignment is unique to them. It just so happens I happen to have slightly more rogues than I do vigilantes. And only what, 3 heroes maybe? Actually, I think 2. And one VILLAIN villain. Without trying to sidebar, I hope one day to make a show centered around most of my toons. And murder as a Hero, for the few that will be truly heroic, is a last resort [Foolish as that may be in some cases]. The rest? Well, they don’t try and pretend, it’s just the way life goes. Honestly? If -I- were given powers, my first thought wouldnt be to be a hero, it’d be to be a Rogue. Use em for maximum profit! I do enjoy threads like these. Really peaks my interest/curiosity on what would a society with superpowered folks in it look like?

I solo AV's on a lot of 50s. If you really think about it an AV is just a boss with a smidge of extra regen. I usually solo a TF on uh...so far I've only done it on my Poison/Fire fender cause, well, it's boring. imo

Best to post the build you have in mind. I myself have 45+ 50s, but even then sometimes I find myself stumped. In that instance, either: A.) Post the build and ask for tweaks. B.) Wing it. C.) Look for a mids builds similar to my own and tweak it as well. End results so far seem pretty alright. Also some builds I find, even at max efficiency just aren't fun, not min max good metas, I'm talking off the beaten path builds.

Bingo. Look, you can do DAMAGE with any set, but it's hard to sell, say, a Psi/Ment blaster vs a Ice/Fire on damage without straight up lying. From a min-max perspective, that is. And, I had one at 50 and loved it preshutdown( maaaay make it again. Trying to discern whether it's worth it for endgame times or not.) Also, I may be meh at mids, but it takes ~40 seconds to go to the forums and find a similar ish build to work off of. You'll be in the game in ~5 minutes after that. Probably. If you're looking from an objective damage standpoint, don't let people who feel offended that their set isn't in consideration stop you. Here's the tops: 1.) Fire 2.)Ice 3.) Water 4.)??? Maybe, idk, Beam? Gets a bit murky here. Usually Fire secondary is top damage. Well, not usually, it's objectively top damage. Final note: Don't completely cut out other sets though. Some of the greatest fun can be had playing, say, a mid or low damage set like AR or something of the sort. But those primaries listed above are the top end of damage, if that's legit all you're after.

Vet lvls lead to Incarnate threads n such, so yeah they do affect your DPS.

I like Torch! Great fun and first server I came back to when the game relaunched. If you want efficiency and best-in-class players(imo :P), you've hit the right server! Not that the others are unplayable/horrible or anything. Pretty fun folks I'd say!

Agreed! In the run of Ruthless I was on, we had a tank, a brute and a stalker. Didn't seem to bother them. Just gotta *gasp* move sometimes.

Oh boi I'm in a forum post :D. But yeah, the challenge mode felt like I had a reason to IO out that emp (Grandpriest Horrus). I totally anticipated this SF being the reason for him existing when I made him way back a year or so ago. >.> <.<

I can reassure you, I just got through HM3 on My emp. It's VERY USEFUL. You WILL be appreciated as an emp. their is NO set that can't be decently useful with skilled play in this SF. However, a lot of folks will have to learn how to actually PLAY the sets they have, as in, taking the rez, using the buffs and being somewhat observant of the team. It makes for what I assume will be a rough time for a good chunk of HC players today. Gotta learn to be "We" instead of "Me" again.

You don't corpse blast w/Nrg. TF+Fast ET=You ARE the corpse maker that others blast. Never corpse blasted on my EM/Rad brute. But that's cool about the ITF! I never do that on any of my 50s. Don't feel like dealing with all that( though maybe my Bio/Spines could do it. Not sure, she doesn't die outside of +8 BP(DD trial with little incarnates at the time) or maybe...nah she can handle vanguard +4.)
