I love this idea, and often think of how cool themed groups would be, but the chance of getting the same people together each week is always low.

Masterminds are cool, but you NEED to keep summoning pets in order to be highest efficiency. What if the damage/health of pets varied depending on how many were out. This way players can choose to just have one pet in order to have it approximately AS powerful as the army of minions. Not sure how this would work with the class when it doesn't have OPTIONS for max number of pets. For example: You want to make a super DUO with you and one of your pets? Now it's possible. The best part of all is that if you have all the pets out, it's exactly the same as it is at the moment.

All the more reason to change it! 😄

In my defense, the sentence after your quote dealt with your concern. I thank you for your post, though, it's very interesting. I'd also like to remind people that the ideas in the original post are just to get us thinking about ways to improve Group Fly. Eww, I hate that fourth tray - they even put it on the Force of Will power - I'm not a fan because it overlaps other UI elements that I place above my trays and I don't have keybinds for it. Having said that, I can live with the tray and I do like this idea.

Let's Talk About: Group Fly As we all know, Group Fly seems cool in theory and absolutely horrible in practice. This is because it doesn't work in a way which the players imagine it should. So how do we fix Group Fly? Below, I have put a few ideas just to get us started, but I don't expect them to work/be easy to implement or anything else, they are just here to kick off the imagination of people interested in the topic. Maybe the base ability should be changed from PBAoE to map-wide effect - this way people wouldn't fall to the ground randomly. Obviously this would have to have a consent option (which I think should be OFF by default), and a pop up box with a "never show me this crap again" tick box. Alternatively it could wear off slowly, lowering players to the ground softly when they lose it. This way players don't just drop their deaths when the person with the power leaves the map. Masterminds are heartbroken the most by the disappointment of Group Fly. Perhaps it could work only on their pets, and to hell with the other classes? Just delete it from their pools or add it to masterminds only .. er.. somehow. Does Group Fly work with Afterburner? If not why not? That'll do for now, let's see what you've got.

I've noticed that it's slow, yes. Protector bots have debuffs on them... of ... some description. I know nothing about it but you can slot debuff enhancements.

Balanced? Well that would make sense for a competitive or performance-oriented game like PvP or Raids. Otherwise it doesn't matter about optimising your build. Don't forget that some sets are massively better than others, so balance is a joke anyway. Where PvP is concerned, guess what? IOs are absolutely required and non-optional already, I think. Where Raids are concerned, we don't have them. That's why I don't see IO tweaks as a problem. Balance is not really a thing in CoH.

Eh.,.. what? It's PvE... who cares how other people make their builds? It's not like those stupid shitty raids that other games focus on. What page?
-
Can we just get a new set that's just as good, or buff one of the other sets? I mean, Luck of the Gambler is infinitely better than it's second place competitor(s) - IMO it should be either; a dilemma to choose between sets or a choice between being good at one thing OR another ... instead of being so bloody obvious. I think they did a good job, but some decisions seem... hasty? We don't know the situation they were in when they made them, but I suppose a peculiar environment could cause monkeybrain.

I played my Bots/FF for a few levels recently. It's quite fun - strong vs Halloween event mobs but much weaker vs regular mission mobs. Someone said that the Sudden Acceleration: Knockback to Knockdown is good for big robot. I've got one but I've already slotted thing wrongly, so now I'm wondering how the respec is going to go... I've picked up a Sovereign Right: Resistance bonus for 10% def bonus for bots (might be crap, I have no idea). I also picked up a defence bonus from the Sovereign Right set (half as good).

The Trial of Stan the Man vs Copyright Law
Herotu replied to Stan The Man's topic in General Discussion
As an option, they could make a database of the combinations of costume parts that make a copyrighted character, then just stop you putting that combination together... or entering the game with that combination. -
I believe that text-oriented missions have had their time - it'd be great to have some kind of text-to-speech to bring the mission system more up-to-date. I do realise that'd be a lot of work so I don't expect anything to happen. :)

I think AE grinding has limited appeal.

I feel your pain. I keep forgetting all the active defense Click powers. I recommend; Invulnerability/Willpower for melee/sentinel, Blasters. Masterminds.

The Trial of Stan the Man vs Copyright Law
Herotu replied to Stan The Man's topic in General Discussion
The evil "Copyright Law" and his minions will NEVER stop Stan the Man from stealing the identity borrowing a shitty likeness of a generic-looking old man! Boooooo! -
Please could someone help me out? I'm looking for a list of missions (in order) which tell the main stories. When I say, "Main", I mean the ones involving Statesman (in Primal) and Cole (in Praetoria). Other signature arcs would be a bonus, but I'm interested in the Statesman stuff primarily.
-
That sounds like a challenge... I bet it's possible to negate these problems with enhancements (don't ask me how, but I bet it's possible).
-
I hate active defenses. I realise that in the years since this game we've had a push towards twitchy e-sports active defense gameplay such as guild wars 2, but I think it's bullshit and am looking forward to the death of this shitty trend. Will it disappear entirely? Not on your nelly, but I believe that an ageing gamerbase will should broaden the perspectives of developers and help them to embrace older players in a way that they've refused to do for too long now.
-
I wonder how difficult it would be to provide players with the ability to make missions that seem more integrated into the game, rather than stuck in the AE. I mean, the content is there (obviously you should have some vetting procedure - I wouldn't want to be sent to a farm map by a contact).

Hello there! Back on live I had a fire/dark scrappy that I quite enjoyed playing. People always said it had endurance problems, but some prudent toggle switching could mititgate them quite handily. I'm wondering if anybody has a Fire/Dark build, please? Let's say that inf isn't a problem.

Are there any underrated money makers for converter crafting?
Herotu replied to Gravitus's topic in The Market
Yep. Well since I slowed down the amount I play, I noticed that my niche dropped down to 1k for recipe. Madness! Opportunities exist. Also, the massive swing between US primetime and non-US primetime is VERY exploitable. Be patient and don't blink when they call your bluff. -
Good choice! I loved my Pets/Dark MM on live, I think it's one of very few sets that heals in that way!

Okay we're off-topic here, but this is definitely a bugbear of mine. I really wonder what they're thinking... this game is ALL about the exemplaring down - why on earth would I take taunt near the end? It's not like I can just do level 50 content!
