  1. It's on the Beta. NOW! Azrael.
  2. Because you can stay 'planted' as a Sentinel. You can hold a 'line' and spam your AoEs. Shockwave. Howl. Siren. Some f.feedback in Shockwave and it's rinse and repeat with a decent dollop of global recharge and hasten. (Only occasionally, having to 'take a step' back to make sure I have full cone coverage on mobs.) It's an AoE chainsaw attack. Mob shredder. Azrael.
  3. Note worthy response, venerable Bopper. I have indeed rolled a Seismic Stone Sentinel. It plays very robustly. I'll look forward to a 'range buff' care of Terra Firma. Many were quietly anticipating this set(s) to come to Sentinel. It has not disappointed so far. I can't wait to see the Geode in operation. It's nice to have the Sentinel have a 'unique' power upon diversification. Probably works similar to Hibernation except in this instance, too much damage can break it down. Azrael.
  4. I concur with fundamental assessment. Repulse and Push. Are iconic pillars of this set. I would welcome the debuffs for the Tier 9 but KEEP Force Bubble as is. It's that or push them over to Dispersion Bubble/Field. A slow for mobs and slow debuff protection for the Force Bubble would make sense to me. Azrael.
  5. And there's no need to lose it's flavour of hard edged play...to make it less 'different' because it dares to be different. Otherwise, we lose what made this iconic CoH set such an old school great. Azrael.
  6. Hmm. I flipped with excited when my old duo partner Force Fielder linked me these changes. Defender FF/EN was the 1st L50 on HC CoH's return. So I'm pretty intimate with the set and did a L50 FF/En on live too. There's a lingering taste of disappointment in my mouth. Force Field has 'hard' 'Offender' style gameplay to it. Boss bugging you? Detention Field. (I, for one, love this supposedly...'niche' power.) And I'm glad it's untouched. Force Bolt. I don't like the longer cast. Not a fan. I do have Power Push and Torrent in addition from the Energy blast side of things. But I did like playing table tennis with mobs with Forcebolt's high acc, low end and super fast recharge. Defensive 'offense.' If you take my drift. I echo's Tath's please to keep Force Bubble and the 'hard' offensive control of Force Field intact. eg. Many of the debuffs in 'Dampening Field' feel like an attempt to shoe horn this into the F.Field set whilst, critically, removing of the pivotal gameplay style elements to this power. eg. Keeping mobs at bay and moving them around. Positioning aggro'. Like a pseudo tank using negative space to pin mobs around corners. Not this project bubble at your location debuff non-sense. It feels liek a transplant from Elec Affinity. Why not wrap those debuffs into Dispersion Bubble itself? Which is a very 'defensive' style power? More 'Defender' whilst Force Bubble is more 'Offender.' Post is live. I'll edit. Add more. Repulsion Field now feels like a cludge of 'two' powers now rather than keeping each one's unique appeal. Force 'Bomb' (the real villain of the set...) gets off scott free. I always thought this power was a little naff. I didn't like the animation. It felt like 'volley ball' animation. And the end result was hardly 'bomb.' Something more 'Energy Nova' like would be what I'd call a 'bomb.' BOMB! (See AR for what BOMBs are really like.) I'd like something more dramatic. There's no reason why this can't have the dramatic effect of eg. Shield Charge. A genuine force explosion. It's still rather limp. Noble intentions. But sadly. This isn't right for me. Probably the 1st HC design pass which has left me completely cold. If it was me? It's this. Force Bolt. Keep it fast, high acc and cheap end. Lower the res debuff. If you have to. Insulation shield. Self buff. (Part of what I'd like to see for a Defender's Design Pass...) Deflection shield. Self buff. (Same again.) Force Bubble. Stays! (and 'walks with' the caster.) Proc Smashing damage for each villain hit. Dispersion Bubble/Field. Put the debuffs in here. So the debuff protection stays with you. Repulsion. Just lower the end cost. *(Smashing proc damage.) 'Force Bomb.' Give it the Energy Nova consequences. And a more dynamic cast animation. The volley ball animation always bugged me. A bit beach ball. PFF. I'm fine with it. It is what it is. If anything, what I'm calling for is outright recognitition of the Offender sub class offensiving Defender style of play. And with rewards for bold play. Ergo. Some Smashing Proc dam for this hard edged 'buff' set. Keep Force Bubble as it is...and add slow debuffs to mobs and Debuff protection to the Defender. The more layers a Force Field defender has...the harder it is for foes to get through. So this should be reflected in Debuff values perahps. But we must keep the power, play wise? As is. We have heard you, Tath. We have listened to your siren call. Azrael.
  7. I would add to my Tank list. Something really different. Some may consider it blasphemy. ('He dares???!') But if you want to be 'tank' like but do it with blasts? I recommend? A Sentinel. Sonic. Rad. I'm very impressed with it's toughness. The way it shreds mobs. I have plenty of damage. And can take many punches to the chin and a stick of wood to the back of the head. You can tank in the mob. Aka. At the front. Or you can even get 'behind' a Time/Seismic Defender and Tank from behind. No really. (That's where the blasts and AOEs really come in to play.) I have plenty of AOES to rinse mobs. The only thing I don't have is a taunt from a Tertiary Power pool... Azrael.
  8. Ok. I'm a Sonic Sonic Defender. (Booo....what you doing 'ere? This is for Tanks. Get out of here before we throw your can of baked bean HPs out of here... LOL. YOu can't even self buff...*guffaws.) *Attempts dignity. Er. So, I come in peace. I notice there are no Invul/Kinetic Tank builds? Anybody got any swing for the fence ideas for such a build. I hear Kin' Melee is a bit under performing. But can we make it great again? Elevate the attacks? Dam' the procs? FFeedbacks to power the chain saw rotation and bring the buffs/debuffs around again? Build ideas gratefully received from the Tanking community. Azrael.
  9. Part of me wants HComing to really do a Defender design pass which allows them to self buff to lift Solo Defenders out of the Mediocre mud pit they are in. On my current Duo? I can make even the 'not so popular or fancied Invul/Kin tank seem rather special with insane -res debuffs on mobs! The L26 Sonic power of 'Clarity.' *coughs. Really? In all the excitement of the Sonic BLaster revamp...it's a shame the HC design team didn't run their rotavator over Sonic/Sonic Defenders. I left out L26. When for Aim. I have just got the Sleep (Siren) at L28 and put some end reds in it. (x2 of course!) Anyone got a build that can lift it out of it's solo malaise. I can fight even con whites... But if a Freak Tank turns up...I'm valiantly making for the Exit door. Thoughts an ideas on how to turn this into a 'Tank God by Any Other name' thoroughly welcome. Sonic. Sonic. A classic old school defender. But when you look at the sets eg. Time. This feels like it's stuck in the claggy clay of the past. Azrael.
  10. Sonic Rad. En/Energy endowed with proc city right behind it. Azrael.
  11. Hello fellow Sentinel Luminaries. After a run of Tank learned addiction. I thought I'd try my hand at a Sentinel. My dream on live? A blaster with a chin made of granite and not glass. A blaster who could stand their ground and not get knocked over. A blaster that 'could.' Sonic. Radiation. Much to my surprise, ten threads into the Sentinel forums. Not a peep on a Sentinel Sonic/Rad. Under the dark storm clouds of Sentinel AT complaints I decided to try this. Strange as I'd just done a Sonic/Sonic blaster (defence capped for S*L and Range!) and thought that would be the end of my dalliance with Sonic. 1. I get what you're saying about damage. Out of the box? Nothing to write home about. 2. But you can build 'great' things from mediocrity. 😄 I took all the primary and secondary powers. Added Hasten. Added Havoc punch. I got the Fight pool to boost my res' and def' numbers. My incarnates? I took the ALPHA Intuition to build mOAR dam in. It also has the luv'ly side effect of giving monumental range to the previously cauterised range on Sentinel. Which means even my 'Sleep' power or the Howl...or the Shockwave powers can reach 'way over there...' Shriek on a Sentinel does High Damage. (My Sonic/Sonic defender has a bit of you know what envy.) And Radial Assault for MOAR double hit and proc style damage. All of a sudden? I'm rinsing Council maps from L45 onwards. +0x8. +1x8. Solo! Post 50 with the choices above? +3x8. +4x8 council maps. Maps rinsed for coin and drops mercilously! Disclaimer. I have been back for much of this journey by the generous support of a Time/Seismic Defender! Very stylish and powerful with the debuffs. Really put me 'other the top' on dam'/def/recharge etc. (Have to love Chrono'...) I have Siren's. I make them sleep. I have force feedback in Shockwave. KB to KD. Then give them Howl. Then rinse. I have an AoE in my Rad armour as well. I get an uber dam' boost from MELT DOWN!!!! The 'Nova' is enough to hurt them. (But the damage...all my AoEs do damage. It stacks. By the time the mob gets to me...it's in tatters for my Nova to blast them to smithers or single target pick them off. Radial Assault is a joy to press!) And I put Degen' Incarnate INterface in there as well. Makes sense with Rad being my Armour giving off poison aura.) I don't seem myself as a 'kill them straight away' in one hit kind of AT. But I can tear / shred their defences and give most mobs a really hard time. (You listening, Malta?) With my Duo (Time/Seismic) partner, we shredded (the right word) the reputations of Malta, Carnie, Long Bow (ya aint Cap America now, are ya?), Arty, Plant People...etc. IF you haven't tried it? I recommend it. It's not a blaster. It's not a Tank. But it has elements of both to make you a 'Tank Mage.' I'm not comparing this to a blaster. Or a Tank. But my Sentinel is quite tough. Tough enough to last long enough to do real damage. Shred mobs. To ruck mobs over. (Replace with a 'F' if you wish.) No. You're not a scrapper with range damage. (That said, I have several 'classic' scrappers that would raise an eyebrow at what I'm doing.) You are. 'The Sentinel.' God bless you, Guv'nor. And all who get shredded by her. Azrael.
  12. I know someone who is eagerly awaiting Seismic Blast for the Sentinel. It will be a blast. I like it on the Blaster. But I can see the appeal on a Sentinel. Azrael.
  13. Due to the recent patch, I've tried out the 'suspension' of toggles eg on human form to go Dwarf and back again on my War Shade. Great. Means I can double Mire with impunity. However, after rolling my War Shade and Peace bringer as 'uber' human only builds, I'm somewhat underwhelmed by the Tri-form. Perhaps this 'suspension' of toggles improvement is a stepping stone to a more thorough design pass. I'd perhaps do something like the Night Widdow. Have one form. But one that you can emphasise blast, scrap or tank capabilities depending on your selection. I feel the forms are somewhat shallow on powers. And having made an 'uber' human only form, I'm somewhat of the 'what's the point?' when the other forms are so shallow on powers. Sure, the new suspend toggles for the form makes the capabilitiy of forms less clumsy. Fine. But perhaps a more far reaching design pass where you can specialise in each form. With maybe a base human form that has a 'Squid' morph or Dwarf tank like morph whilst retaining a more human characteristic. Spitballing ideas. But as it currently is. I'm quite happen with my Perma-PB and WShade in human only form. They're both kick az as is. The other forms don't seem to add much. Azrael.
  14. Nothing wrong with a bit of vulnerability. It makes heroes and their journey more interesting. Azrael.
  15. Update. I resisted the urge to use Merits at all for my Peace Bringer build. Because the fact remains (as others have said) you can make more money from Merits and then buy the ATs you need. eg. Peacebringer ATs? 5-6 million a pop on today's market. Most I paid for some was 8 million. It didn't make sense to use Merits for that. Even the Blistering Cold I paid 25 million each hard cash rather than use the merits. I find cash comes alot easier than Merits. Azrael.
  16. Oedipus Rex did a Shield/Energy build in another thread? Should be on the 1st page or 2 of this Tank forum. Azrael.
  17. Update. I finally got my Peacebringer (rolled not long after HC started...) to L50. Completed the build today. I went with Cardiac Alpha with the modified build (based on the OP's build.) Stamina bar was up and down like a yo-yo, all very exciting. Balancing the end crash from Unstoppable. Cardiac really helps with all that. To make up the dam' from not taking eg. Musculature Alpha, I'll go Assault Radial. Double hit smack proc'. Judgement. The Energy AoE. Ofc. Ageless. For more recharge. I guess you don't need 'mez' protection with the unstoppable? So I could go Barrier or Ageless. The latter gives a bucket of recharge and end. Which on this build would be cool. And then allow me to Musc' alpha? I'm surprised no forcefeedback in this build. I wonder if we could squeeze it in? Rip roaring fun. Azrael.
  18. Enhancement Sets - Unofficial Homecoming Wiki This will help guide your way. You can see the sets and the 'hierarchy' of trading up. So this will tell you 'when' to stop. (You can check the prices of the hierarchy in the market yourself and they generally correlate into more £££ for the rare or PVP sets.) I think Flea's rule of thumb of '6' rolls (and going with something 'satisfactory') insulates you somewhat from a run of 'bad luck' and stop you wasting converters, so that, in the long term? You come out on top. eg. Let's say you've made 20 items crafted from 2 'piles of ten' uncommon recipes. One converter has a good chance of taking that item to a rare enhancement. A handful of dice rolls will get you something that will go for 2 million on average. So? You list 20 rares for 2 million and they sell? That's 40 million (subject to market fees etc.) Do that all week? 7x40=280 million. That's over 1 billion a month. And that's a 'just about getting out of 'bed' rate. Very casual crafting/marketing. After a while, which sets are 'hot' and which are 'not' will become clear. Each time you roll, check the market price of the item in question. You'll soon get an idea of prices of 'hots' and 'nots' and which are 'middling.' As a rule of thumb, if I get something 'reasonable' I'll list it 10% lower than the 'going rate' (see, 'last 5 bids' history) and it usually will sell. (This depends on time of day, weekdays vs week end player population ergo 'DEMAND' for said listings.) Azrael.
  19. This reminds me of piling in Psi resists into my Demon MMind. Can get mezzed...BUT not for long! Azrael.
  20. Good job on the build. I've been searching for a Human Only PB build. Alpha. Hmm. I have a habit of going Cardiac on alot of tanky builds. Erradicates end problems by slashing end costs. Also a bonus? Resistance to damage coming in. I always race to Tier 3 left side. Make up the damage by not taking Musculature by going Assault Tier 3 radial. Some nice double hit proccy style damage? I don't see any way past taking Clarion. (If you've got plenty of end in the build or just take Cardiac, you don't need Ageless.) Agility. I have taken this. And if you need it to hit the cap, sure. Some extra rech'. And stamina boost. I'd rather slash end costs going out than boost end coming in general. Azrael.
  21. That modified build of the OP's? Core blimey Guv'nor. Sure kicks bottom. Azrael.
  22. I think you make some sound points. If it was me? I'd just take a chainsaw to the price of things and kneecap it in half. Double the price of TF Merit Rewards (the TFs are long enough to justify it.) Maybe I've just got a short attention sp... Where was I? Oh yeah. I'd like to just go to my Hero Origin vendor and purchase the AT and Purple Sets that with a Hero Merit(s). Another way of doing it, would be narratively. You complete a series of Origin arcs and get your 'purple' sets as you complete your arcs with 'unlocks' that boost your Snipe...or your Super KO punch etc. More specifically linking missions with the rewards that improve your power. Azrael.
  23. Update. Farmer has hit 1.2 Billion. 2nd Farmer is closing in on 100 million. Market yields are at least 40-50 million a day. Sometimes twice that. Getting so many uncommon recipes off farmers that I've stopped buying them direct from the market for now. Back log of crafting to clear. RE: on that last point. Random drops are more 'fussy' to get all the loot/salvage for. If you're buying Yellow Enances off the store? You CAN buy stacks of 10 to make crafting easier as you can buy the salvage in lots of 10 too! Efficiency? Yes. Azrael.
  24. I think my golden rule is. If I can get 'it' from Auction House for 'cheaper coin' I'll do that. But if the item in question is 'over priced' or 'expensive' or has sold out. I'll tend (or did) to use a merit to 'just get it now.' (Though, latterly, with my more recent knowledge of Converters etc, I guess I could buy one of the others in set for cash and use a converter to 'swap' for the one I want and still get it for relatively little coin. ie. 6x70k dice rolls won't break the bank. Or even ten dice rolls.) There's nothing like the delight of discovering you have 'thousands' of something on a little used or 'forgotten' character. 1000s of Merits....drool. eg. I pinched a Heca' (temporarily) from my main marketeer (a combat ready Tank...though...) for a build. I waited until I got the recipe drop. Built it. Then used a Converter and I hit the mission one I needed from the power set...1st time. Love it when it does that. Azrael.
  25. LoTG Globals (ReUnion.) Varies from 5-ish million to 'upto' 7 million (from week days to the weekends. Though I have seen them go as high as 8 mill' and my luckiest sell was when somebody gave me '26 million' for one. I certainly wouldn't mind the price of LoTGs, the price of ATs, Purples, Uniques being much lower. I'd be happier still with fixed (and lower) prices from Origin Vendors as a potential outlet. I still think the merit rewards for TFs is somewhat stingy. And that the price of these things from current vendors are overpriced. I do feel like the bar to entry for newer players could be sawn in half for the prices and doubled for the rewards and you'd still be in for a 'tidy' amount of time to get one built out. If I count up the time taken, most of the stuff I've learned has come from a generous community sharing their knowledge. I used to wonder how players seemed to move 2-3 times faster than me and their powers charge 2-3 times faster than me...how they never ran out of end...how indestructible they seemed. Like I was a guy that turned up in home made tights and the rest were mega-Olympian heroes forged in the CoH hero factory. (Ting.) I doubt LoTGs are going to stay low. They're in demand as 'THE' unique people like to buy to pad out their build with speed. As many as '5' per build? 5 alone gives you half of hasten for about 25-35 million depending on when it comes time for me to buy (if it's me, usually 6 million to buy them minimum. Naturally I liked to buy at peak times to gouge myself more...) Whether its LoTG, Converters, Uncommon salvage, there seems to be alot of market machinations ongoing. Azrael.
