Stop Respec From Reshuffling Tray Icons
GraspingVileTerror replied to Tailcoat's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
When I said "Pop-Trays," @Tailcoat, I was refering to Pop-Menus specifically for Powers, like Trays. They're a wonderful new'ish feature that allows players to make their own custom UI elements, and the new'ish Fast Travel "Power" is actually one of these (popmenu FastTravel, see here: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/23372-focused-feedback-travel-updates-base-teleportation-long-range-teleporter-accolade-special-tp-powers/page/24/?tab=comments#comment-284179 ). If the Devs are able to get the Icons in these Pop-Trays to display those same cooldown timers that we have in the existing Trays, we would be able to bypass our Respec problem but just writing Pop-Trays that wouldn't be changed due to Respec. Even better than that, we would be able to share our Pop-Trays with other players, or create contextual Pop-Trays for things like Temporary Pet Summon Powers. I mean, technically, we already can . . . but not having the cooldowns makes them annoying to use effectively. -

issue 27 Patch Notes for June 2nd, 2021
GraspingVileTerror replied to Number Six's topic in Patch Notes Discussion
I believe if you see a bunch of levelless Clockwork without any Construction Site, it means that a Paladin has already been completed, and is now muckin' about in High Park. CORRECTION PER FAULTLINE: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/29353-patch-notes-for-june-2nd-2021/page/2/?tab=comments#comment-368205 New Construction Sites won't spawn until existing Paladins have been defeated. There is a limit of three. -
Hold on . . . "OVH" sounds familiar . . . https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/29090-mapserver-host-hardware-changes/ um . . . . . . insufficient information. Error! Assumption of worst case scenario probability rising. Please help!

I would like to propose the addition of a Torch Reaction icon for the forums. Primarily for https://forums.homecomingservers.com/forum/70-fallen-but-not-forgotten/ and any situation where we would like to show a sign of solidarity in a sombre, respectful manner.

What's the hardest part of making a MM set?
GraspingVileTerror replied to Menelruin's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Excellent attitude to have, @Menelruin. I commend the positivity. I suppose there's also the "PvP factor" to account for. It seems that the Homecoming Dev Team are largely more pro-PvP than any combination of the Legacy/Retail Devs ever were. As balancing Sets is a more significant factor in the context of PvP, it may also account for their reluctance to deliver on adding new Set content. Coupled with Masterminds largely being considered to be underperforming in the late-game meta, the Devs (particularly Captain Powerhouse) may want to focus on adjusting the entire Archetype before introducing new Sets to it. Sadly, the answers to these questions have been largely obfuscated, so I'm mainly making educated guesses based on my limited information. -
What's the hardest part of making a MM set?
GraspingVileTerror replied to Menelruin's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
It should also be mentioned that, to the best of my knowledge, the only Power Sets made on Homecoming to date have been the Electrical Affinity Support Set and the Sonic Manipuation Set. And hints have been dropped about something stone related on the horizon. It seems the Homecoming Team is being particularly . . . deliberate in their introduction of new Power Sets, despite the wealth of fantastic suggestions and fan-made versions already out there. Regrettably, that also suggests that a new Mastermind Primary will regrettably be a distant consideration. -
My New Player's Feedback
GraspingVileTerror replied to Atomic Dragons of Mars's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Thank you for taking the time to give your feedback, @Atomic Dragons of Mars, and for exploring City of Heroes. Your criticisms and concerns are valuable, and while not everyone likes to hear "dissension," please know that your words here are appreciated. It sounds like you're been playing the Going Rogue / Praetorian content. This has a tendency to be better in some ways and worse in others, compared to legacy content. I would like to encourage you to also explore traditional Blueside (Heroes, Paragon City) and Redside (Villains, Etoile "Rogue" Isles). However, be warned that the majority of the gameplay is largely combat focused in both of those places; much moreso than the content in Praetoria. Conventional "wisdom" says it can't or shouldn't be changed, so it's a bit of an upward struggle to convince many of the older fans of the possibility, feasibility, and value in creating more diverse content. But with feedback such as yours, and encouraging more new players to try the game out and give their thoughts, we should be able to build up momentum to eventually branch out and explore more avenues for fun and enjoyment here. Good luck, and I hope you continue to find enjoyment in this game. And thank you for the offer to make a donation. The window is usually open on the last Saturday of each month. The next day will likely be June 26th. The donation window is typically only open for about an hour, and it starts at a relatively random time, to try and give players in different time zones different opportunities to contribute. -

I typically use "/sg" but I imagine that might not work so well for folks who use Super Groups for their traditional purpose, as opposed to individual character housing . . . *glances back and forth* -
[Focused Feedback] Paladin Event
GraspingVileTerror replied to Faultline's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I'm not certain, but if I recall correctly, each site can only spawn if their respective Paladin is not presently alive. So, if all three Paladins are up and running, then the event won't trigger. I think. -

Stop Respec From Reshuffling Tray Icons
GraspingVileTerror replied to Tailcoat's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
If locking the Power buttons in the Tray during Respec is not an option, I resubmit: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/14927-save-and-load-command-for-power-tray-configuration/ Alternatively, Cooldown Timers in Pop-Trays would also address this in an indirect way. -
issue 27 [Beta] Patch Notes for May 28th, 2021
GraspingVileTerror replied to Faultline's topic in [Open Beta] Patch Notes
I do apologize for continuing on this line, @Faultline, but it still seems like I'm either failing to adequately describe what I'm suggesting, or there's something you're describing which I don't quite grasp. Let's call the story arc check the "True Level Check," since it's actually checking the Security/Threat Level of all the team members. Let's call the Contact's Badge/flag requirement the "Imitation Level Check," since it's consulting a flag which is triggered by the team leader obtaining the appropriate conditions to toggle that flag. In the case of Positron Part 2, the the True Level Check is 11 to 16. The Imitation Level Check is the "Rule of Three" Badge. But let's say we changed that to the "Keeper of Peace/Insider/Survivor of Praetoria" Badge instead. Would that not effectively make it so the Dam Heroes Task Force could be run by a team compromised of players ranging from level 11+, auto-Exemplared down to 16, but the Team Leader must be Level 20 minimum due to the Badge requirement. (For clarity to EVERYONE, I am NOT proposing this scenario as an actual change. Just a rhetorical example for discussion.) This is the model which I am proposing for Lady Grey. -
issue 27 [Beta] Patch Notes for May 28th, 2021
GraspingVileTerror replied to Faultline's topic in [Open Beta] Patch Notes
I think there is some confusion here, and I'm not sure which direction it's going. Let's say, for example, Lady Grey became such a Metacontact like Positron. Speaking to (clicking on) her gives a dialogue branch: -one which lead to LadyGrey_2, who has some new Level 45 flag/Badge requirement, but assuming that check is successful, this Contact offers the Task Force with a wider range (for example, 35 to 50. Or, dare to dream, 1 to 50). -another branch leads to LadyGrey_3, who could be used for all kinds of interesting plot or story activities. Would this not present a scenario similar to what we see with Positron? The Team Leader must meet the Badge AND Level requirements of both the Contact and the Task Force, while the Team only needs to meet the Level requirements of the Task Force. Since the "Badge" in this scenario is essentially serving as a secondary Level requirement check with the Contact, of a different level than the Task Force, we've essentially established a scenario where the Team Leader has a higher level requirement than the rest of the team. Once that Leader launches the Task Force, all members are automatically Sidekick'd up to that level -1. My only question, then, becomes: If the Leader drops or quits, what happens to the level of the rest of the Team? Naturally, if there isn't any way to locked the team in to the Leader's sidekick'd level as a minimum, then this solution introduces a major inconvenience issue. If the team remains set to that level for the duration of the Task Force, we should have a winning solution. No? -
issue 27 [Beta] Patch Notes for May 28th, 2021
GraspingVileTerror replied to Faultline's topic in [Open Beta] Patch Notes
Thank you for the additional information, @Faultline. It's very helpful. If you're willing to share even more with us, I am curious to hear: How much of a pain are these "metacontacts" to work with? What sort of downsides do they have? How much of a challenge would it be to implement more if the downsides/risks are minimal? -
issue 27 [Beta] Patch Notes for May 28th, 2021
GraspingVileTerror replied to Faultline's topic in [Open Beta] Patch Notes
HA! And posted the same time as @Faultline. Thanks for the additional details related to the potential factors related to Dra'gon, Honouree, et al. So, yeah. 35 as a base minimum level for Lady Grey is definitely looking like too much effort to establish. I still think it may be worth utilizing this opportunity to examine the proposed alternatives for Leader/Team level differentials in locked-Team content. -
issue 27 [Beta] Patch Notes for May 28th, 2021
GraspingVileTerror replied to Faultline's topic in [Open Beta] Patch Notes
Positron 2 has conditions for the Team Leader having to meet a requirement which the rest of the Team doesn't need. In this particular scenario, we have a bit of a challenge in that there aren't Achievement Badges at 5 level increments, but rather at every 10 levels. But we've also seen that it's possible to have Badges which don't count toward the Badge Total. While it's a few extra hoops to jump through in terms of development, adding "invisible" Badges (or some other character flag) may allow the Homecoming Team to flag Task Forces with a minimum level for the Leader. Perhaps now is an ideal testing bed for such a feature. Marking the Lady Grey Task Force as requiring the Leader to have such a new flag/Badge as the requirement would get the proposed effect, wouldn't it, @Faultline? See how the full game community reacts to such a feature, and then examine rolling it out further if it's well-received. WHOOP. Seems @Mr. Vee beat me to the proposal as I was writing this. -
[Focused Feedback] Paladin Event
GraspingVileTerror replied to Faultline's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
The Team may also want to poll more than just the Beta crowd. It may be worthwhile to see what the regular players think of this by calling attention to it with an in-game Message of the Day, or Admin channel announcement during peak hours. -
Specifically, you need the Badge awarded from the last mission in the First Story Arc of any of the Patrons. You can earn this as a Team member, and don't have to become a full Villain to get there. Rogue or Vigilante will suffice if someone else is running the mission. Rogue or Villain will allow you to get the Contacts and run the mission yourself. Any of the Patron Badges unlock all four of the Patron Pools. You can get the Badge at any level, but to start the mission or select the Powers, you have to be at least level 35.

Concealment Pool Update: Stealth or Invisibility?
GraspingVileTerror replied to Jimmy's topic in Developer's Corner
As much as that might be a joke, @Luminara, count me in. But you have to combine both Sets! Need at least three picks from each Leadership and Presence, and a fourth in either one, and THEN you can get the "Celebrity Movement" Power. Gotta make it count, right? -
And old memory made me chuckle...
GraspingVileTerror replied to DR_Mechano's topic in General Discussion
There was a brief moment in Homecoming's history, close to the start, where "Gold Traders" tried to break in to this market. I think it was, what? Less than a week? Does anyone else remember this, or am I hallucinating? -

[Focused Feedback] Paladin Event
GraspingVileTerror replied to Faultline's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Sooooooo . . . yup. These lenses were kind of pink. Just did the event with someone, and I -totally- forgot that it's a matter of blocking construction for 20 minutes, rather than dismantling the Construction Site. Given how quickly the other Giant Monster encounters are these days, it started to wear on and feel tedious. A 10 minute (or dare to dream, 5 minute) timer may feel better. Especially for no Merits. HOWEVER. It was still more exciting and interesting than the version of the event on the Release realm right now. So, despite this event not being the best it could be in either scenario, I'll keep my vote for the original Construction version, rather than Shining Star Redux version. Also . . . NPC CHAT FLOOD! OH MY GOODNESS!
