  1. Given how varied methodologies different players have, and given that visual "noise" is already an issue which has resulted in numerous alternative methods to compensate for, I think the hypothetical harm you're suggesting is something that would need to have large-scale testing to see how it shakes out. See if there's a marked difference in the rate which people clear Arachnos, or even increased defeats as a result of a change on this scale. Otherwise, it's fairly speculative. This isn't TF2, after all, and even AFTER they made a point of how important their characters' silhouettes were, they went and changed them all with cosmetics anyway. It only -enhanced- that game!
  2. Aww, getting me all anxious for nothing, @Bopper! Meanie!
  3. I believe Corruptors have 85% of the Buffs/Heals/Debuffs that Defenders have.
  4. Thanks so much to everyone who attended! We'll be doing a post-Pride feedback and debrief meeting on Thursday, July 8th (since July 1st is Canada Day, and another event will be taking place), at 9:30pm at Glitter-15236 If you can't attend the debrief, please feel free to provide your feedback here, through private messages (either in-game or here in the forums), or tell a buddy who can advocate on your behalf with us. Thank you all again!
  5. https://hcwiki.cityofheroes.dev/wiki/Shivan_Shard I haven't had to use them as much as I did on Legacy/Retail, but I really like my pet jellies.
  6. The Show Your Colour / Pride Flag Theme applies to all three contests. The objective is to provide a biography which captures the spirit of Pride, whether you wish to focus on the aspect of it being a celebration of inclusivity, a memorial for those we've lost, or a demurral against harmful hate and ignorance, a combination thereof, or some other force of positivity, et cetera. As ever, these sorts of contests are wholly subjective and based on the opinions of the judges. So, in spite of that fact, we are making a point of awarding prizes to all participants throughout the entirety of the festivities! The contest is primarily for the purposes of showcasing to the community and celebrating positive examples.
  7. This discussion is skewed heavily for me due to Canada not taxing lottery winnings the way you u.s. folks would have to contend with, but yeah. 1 million? Buy a home, pay off debts, continue working. 5 million? Do the above and take more time off work to travel and have personal fun times; could make it last a good, long while. 70 million? Launch that indie dev studio I've been dreaming of for years! But, uh, yeah. OuroDev is a great place to start. Go there. Read up. Learn all that you need to know (or at least as much of that as you can, since there are still some gaps in the info there). THEN determine which server model actually makes sense for your intended operations. Then then do the necessary work to get things running.
  8. Two factors (though I'm not saying I agree with them, just what I understand from the original design discussions I saw): Theme. They were pay-to-win Pools, and meant to be more powerful than regular Pools, and the decision was that players should only have access to ONE of five, rather than stacking up on the most broken Sets. However, Homecoming has toned them down from their original vision and balanced them at a level that is perhaps only slightly higher than regular Pools. I don't have access to their metrics, but I'd be surprised if the balancing factor still holds as much water as the original plans called for. And as for theme . . . I take a hard stance on giving players as much control over that as possible. So. Yeah. I like the idea of removing the single-Set restriction from Theme Pools.
  9. A thought. What if there was a Second Stage of Scourge? Something like at 15% or lower HP, there's an increasing chance of Triple Damage? Or, dare to dream, Quadruple Damage? Naturally, that doesn't do anything to help with the AoE DPA meta we live in right now, but it would double-down on the Corruptor's identity as the "Finisher" for targets with large HP pools. Probably not the solution folks are looking for, but I thought I would throw it in to the ring for consideration while we're here.
  10. Nope! One of the few great things done with the original Terms of Use was that they did -not- grant ownership of player creations done inside of the game to any other party. However, it did grant them a license to use our creations for advertising purposes, and there wasn't much in the way of limitations established through that license. My understanding of law is limited, but I believe it could be easily argued that NC would never be granted license to reproduce representations of those characters from other sources (ie: they couldn't use/reproduce your comic book, @Ultimo). Only the representation that existed in the game itself. That's my reading of the agreement, anyway. Again, I'll stress I'm not a law expert. My professional experience with contracts and things like Terms of Use came more from an angle of "if the average customer reads this, are they going to know what's really going on?"
  11. For a silly character, @dtjunkie, that is impressively well made! Kudos.
  12. I imagine that someone would first need to buy the intellectual property rights from NC, -or- do a damned good job of convincing NC to funnel money in to developing the property again in those veins. As for unlicensed endeavours in that field . . . well . . . I hear Mercedes Lackey used characters she made in City for a number of her published novels. Granted, none of those books explicitly name Paragon City or any other bit of content expressly owned by NC . . . but apparently did subtly reference a thing here and there. Perhaps other fans might be willing to do the same, should they ever get published. Or, dare to dream, someone actually writes so quality not-for-profit bootleg books.
  13. I'm not sure we have the wherewithal to answer that in the General board. You'll probably find the answers you seek in: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/forum/44-guides/ Good luck!
  14. @Telephone's got you covered, @Panthonca7034! https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/29779-server-down/page/16/?tab=comments#comment-375858
  15. I think what might help Masterminds in general is to standardize the number of Powers in the Primary which can slot the ATOs. As I understand it, the Sets which already have 4 Powers to Slot the ATOs in to perform better than the others before we even bring ATOs in to the mix, which just exasperates the gap between the likes of Demons or Thugs, and Mercenaries. I'd propose that all the Tier 6s (Level 18 Powers) be re-examined as Pet Powers. Mercenaries is the easiest: Replace Serum with a Call Medic Power, replacing the original Medic with another Soldier. Give this new Medic a Serum-Lite, so no slotting options are lost, only improved. Robots isn't much trickier, and I think a "Nano Swarm" Pet could replace the Repair Power, which would be a sort of Seeker Drone that Heals instead of Harms. Take the Devouring Earth Swarm model, change the texture to ramp up the specular layer and the reflection map, so they look like little silver swarms of metal. Ninjas is the tough one. Maybe create a non-combat "Sensei" who tosses the Smoke Flash bombs out? We can workshop it. I don't know enough about Beast Mastery to speak to it, though. I've not got any of them high enough to take Fortify Pack yet.
  16. Give players a series of Badges for listing ATOs at 1 Inf on the market, and we'll see some movement! Bonus points if these Badges can all be part of an Accolade which increases the odds of an ATO drop from a Super Pack by 10%!
  17. So, @Flintlock Burnfur, what's happenin', eh?
  18. Hey! Hey @Coyotedancer! Hey! . . . I really need to track down that List, don't I?
  19. I was saving this for the day when it actually happens, but it may never come . . . so . . . One can always dream, right?
  20. and back to (relative) normal:
  21. Hey now! I log in to my accounts, and don't hide them, @Nerio72!
  22. Make the Granite Race interesting. Have them Exemplar down to 27, and outrun a Quarry which is constantly lured toward them by a Stalker with a Snipe and Placate.
  23. Tonight's the last committee meeting for the parade and contests! We've got a few judges, but we could still use more. Please get in touch if you're interested! Thanks!
  24. RIGHT! Yes. Of course. I've managed to solo Archvillains while asleep (although more often I wind up at 0 HP, but shhhhh!). I've passed out and woke up to find the game auto-logged me, and when I get back in, I find that I've levelled up . . . sometimes twice. And worst of all! I've passed out while roleplaying. There is no forgiveness for that. Especially when it was actually a really, really interesting roleplay, and I genuinely wanted to continue! There just aren't enough hours in the day for City.
