Please remind me how to get the Knight Errant badge.
GraspingVileTerror replied to Col. Kernel's topic in Badges
As of 2021-06-07 the situation is (based on discussions with @Faultline, who can correct me if I get anything wrong): - Original Paladin Construction Site event has reverted to active. Shining Stars version is removed. - Changed Time to Hero Victory from 20 minutes to 10 minutes. - Changed Time to Clockwork Victory from 10 minutes to 5 minutes (note that attacking the Construction Site buys you more time). - Knight Errant Badge is rewarded for preventing Construction (Note, some sources say that defeating the waves of Levelless Clockwork who surround the Construction Site is also necessary). - If Construction Site completes, then the Paladin spawns and will march to High Park with Clockwork Minions. - Construction Site spawn timer is random, and up to 36 hours. Fautline has discussed reducing this time per player feedback, but doesn't want to work on this version of the event much further. - The areas where Construction Sites can spawn also have a chance to just spawn Levelless Clockwork that are not involved in the Event. Clearing them doesn't effect the actual Event. - A new version of the entire event is in the works, with both @Piecemeal and Faultline expressing interest in working on it. However, it is not a priority and there is no E.T.A. or even any kind of promise. - There doesn't appear to be any way to earn the Clockwork Pet Summon Temp Power at this time. -
The "/where_am_I" command is very helpful for this process.

Things one misses from the original game

Uh oh. I thought of something I miss. Naked Rikti. And the old less cartoonish Circle of Thorns. -

Opportunity to Make a Lasting Contribution
GraspingVileTerror replied to TemporalVileTerror's topic in Art & Multimedia
So, got some feedback from @Faultline on the first version of the piece I was working on, and the window has been extended slightly (again, still no guarantees of acceptance). Faultline and I agree that the piece doesn't feel -quite- "graffiti" enough. If anyone has some resources, tips, or helpful perspectives on how to utilize the toolset available in GIMP to really emphasize a stencilled spray-paint look, I would be very appreciative. -
Well, bear in mind that your son is probably significantly younger than you (not going to assume that to be a guarantee, though. Life is strange, after all), @TheZag. Younger people generally have stronger immune systems (depending largely on how old each person we're comparing, of course. But I'm just speaking in super-wide generalizations here). Also, yeah. All the old Temp Power Recipes are now purchasable at the P2W Vendors. The Frag Grenade and Plasmetic Taser are actually quite ridiculous at low levels for mob clearing, and the Louiseville Slugger and Sledgehammer are impressive single-target Melee attacks. The major drawback in all of them is the Knockback . . . but at low enough levels, things just melt under a quick one-two anyway, so the Knockback is less of an issue.

If you're using Windows 10, you should be able to hit the "Prt Scr" (Print Screen) button on your keyboard, then open up Paint and Paste the screenshot there, @Anon the Hero. That will make it much easier for the rest of us to read what the error message says. Be sure to use the Crop Tool while in Paint to make sure you don't send any information you're not comfortable posting online.

Honestly, while we're complaining about AE Drones . . . can we get rid of the ones in Cap au Diablo? They have a tendency to murder some spawns which contain those elusive Mu Guardians. It's really irksome to see the target for one of my badge obsessions getting droned before I can reach it.

Yup, sounds like. There are two areas which "phase." Roughly, on the following map, the blue highlighted areas along these lines: Would that be the area you lost sight of the Clockwork, @srmalloy?

city info terminal kiosk, err thingy
GraspingVileTerror replied to Snarky's topic in General Discussion
So, when the game first launched, the kiosks didn't work at all. I made a character called "Kiosk Repair Man" as a joke, but never really played him. He would just stand around the kiosk in the City Hall courtyard and say "I'm on my break." I think it was Issue 2 when the Kiosks started working? Possibly sooner. But, yeah. As others have said, they used to show Leaderboards for things like Damage done, Healing done, and Enemies Defeated for specific factions. I have no idea why they stopped working, but @Greycat's explanation sounds likely. Little known fact, but Redside -could- have access to Kiosks! Through Mayhem Missions! They would work there just as if you were in the City Zone, as I recall. There are a few broken Kiosks in the Isles too, but clicking on them doesn't do anything. As I recall, there's one by the Port Oakes Arena. -
If you would like to contribute, there are a few ways: If you're made of the "Right Stuff" (so to speak), then volunteering as a GM or Community Helper/Rep is a possibility: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/26436-game-master-community-helper-application/ If you want to make a monetary contribution, then the Donation Window is open only during the last Saturday of each month, and at a random time to provide different community members different odds of getting in. It's usually quite challenging to get your donation in before the window closes since there are just so many other members in the community who are hyped to contribute this way: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/29268-june-2021-donations-finances/ Finally, if you have talents and meet other requirements, the Homecoming Team does open the doors for new Devs to join, but the details on this process and the full requirements are sketchy. Check out the "Future Recruitment" threads in particular: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/forum/50-developers-corner/ And @Black Talon? Welcome Home.

My brain has this stupid hot-wired assumption that I need to keep reminding myself to disregard . . . Anyone familiar with Heroes of Might and Magic V? The "Slow" visual effect/animation? My stupid brain keeps trying to convince me that animation exists in City of Heroes, and it keeps going "well, just do a reskin of that to make it look like rope." Stop it, brain! But, yeah. It's probably best to rename and re-contextualize Bolas into some sort of Oil Slick Grenade or something. Keep the mechanics of the Power the same, but deliver it as something which we already have assets available to visually represent accurately. Everything else seems largely doable as-is otherwise.

Give a GM a Little Positivity!
GraspingVileTerror replied to MetaVileTerror's topic in General Discussion
I received an email while at work today letting me know to thank @GM Widower. So . . . Wids? This one's for you: Edit: Thanks to @AboveTheChemist for animating the costume change emote! Leaving my old single-frame one here for posterity. -
While making a new Widow, I found that various face textures are listed twice in the drop-down selection.

Strike/Task Force Tutorial
GraspingVileTerror replied to Apparition's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I'm not against more tutorials and better information being provided to players to help them make informed decisions about the way they engage with the game. Quite to the point; I am very much in support of such initiatives! Granted, making anything -mandatory- is a tricky thing. At the very least, there should be a bypass. However, I think the problem originally described here has more to do with: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/29383-hi-thanks-for-joining-youre-my-hostage/ I think it's quite likely that players are joining, then finding the team to not be to their liking since there are plenty of variables at play, and then attempting a socially low-impact exit strategy to go and play in a manner which is more agreeable to them. Communicating expectations before hitting "Agree to Form Task/Strike Force" and providing players the information they need to make a fully informed decision is best placed on the individual who has the power to set the options that define those expectations. You know: Great power, great responsibility. Yatta yatta. -

https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/15702-monkey-fight-club-its-not-a-secret-anymore/page/3/?tab=comments#comment-368519 We'll be doing a little fund-raiser for the Pride celebration in the form of a special Rikti Monkey Fight Club event in Sharkhead. After all, this year we're also doing simultaneous Pride parades in both Blue- AND Redside.

Monkey Fight Club (It's Not a Secret Anymore)
GraspingVileTerror replied to VileTerror's topic in Everlasting
Our next scheduled Sharkhead Isle Rikti Monkey Fight Club Event will be a special Homecoming Pride Fund-Raiser! https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/29310-pride-in-our-city-2021-a-celebration-with-music-and-contests-on-june-26th/ On Monday, June 14th, 2021, with doors open at 6pm Eastern. Big prizes will begin at 8pm Eastern! In-character context: "Paragon City had a parade for Pride last year. WELL! Commandant Nongratis will NOT allow that to stand unchallenged! She's going to make sure that the Rogue Isles ALSO gets a big ol' parade to celebrate queerness! One small snag, though. The Arbiters need some 'persuading' in the form of 'monetary incentive' to ensure that no shitheels interfere with the parade. Commandant Nongratis will match any donation made toward the parade fund-raiser to secure Arachnos' support of the festivities." Real context: The Pride in Our City celebration could use your support with Inf to provide as rewards for the contests and door prizes. Any surplus Inf earnt at this Fight Club will be put toward that celebration. You may also donate at any time anonymously or with your name added to the public ledger. As ever, the Fight Club will be awarding door prizes and Inf for the monkey fights as normal. We hope to see you there! -
Some Power Sets exist on other bootleg servers. Homecoming has the Electrical Affinity and Sonic Manipulation Sets, while others have things like "Holy Light," or "Shotgun Melee."
