  1. Oh yeah, Grav/Storm is my bread and butter. Such a powerful combo. G/S/Fire is great. I *almost* went /Primal Forces Epic because of Conserve Power and Power Boost, but I just love fire. Below is my build. It is not for everyone because I slot for damage and recharge over control time. But, I have found that with Grav and Storm, you have so much controlled mayhem that duration becomes almost irrelevant. Lock 'em and clock 'em, I always say. For tactics, if I am soloing... well, honestly, if I am soloing, I kind of just rush in and pummel them with whatever. But, if I am soloing carefully, I either start with Tornado to tank, or Freezing Rain. In teams, I almost always start with Snow Storm, then Freezing Rain, Crushing Field and Fireball. That thins the ranks right quick. I noticed you said you prefer to stay with KB instead of converting it all to KD. I kind of fall in the middle of those strategies. I convert Tornado and Wormhole to KD. That turns Tornado into a nice tank and baddie eating machine with tons of mitigation. Wormhole with KD turns it into the best placement power in the game. It's ridiculous. I like to leave Singularity and Lightning store with the KB because I often use them to protect our rear flank. Nothing foils a massive Roman ambush more than being flung around the universe by two of the best pets in the game. Just be careful to not place LS in the middle of a group. I also leave the KB in Hurricane because if I turn that on, it means the stuff has really hit the fan and I want people GONE. Note that Hurricane reduces the range on enemy attacks, so fling those suckers as far as you can. 2. Hey Everyone, this is my first foray into the VEAT world. I am working out a Widow build. At first I thought I would like a scraptroller type, melee powers with control powers. But, then I noticed you could double up on the Leadership stuff, and it seemed like I could make a pretty decent tank that can also offer some serious buffs to the team, and do ranged damage. I like ranged tanks, and CoX really doesn't have them much, so I thought I would see if I could pull it off with this. Here is the build, any recommendations are appreciated. How Does Beam/ Stack Up?

That was debunked in the other thread. That being said, Beam/Temp is a good set.
  4. While I rarely farm the AE fire farm, when I do, it is with my PVE slotted FFP tank. Solo, she easily rolls through at sub-7 minutes per "room." Also, she doesn't have to continuously chew and renew purple insp, which saves a bit of hassle and time in the lobby. Speaking of which, what IS considered a "good" time on that?
  5. VV

    Herding MSR

Just a side note. For anyone playing on Indom, this is not a consideration. Pull as much as you can. Actually, this brings up another point. I have done MSRs on various shards and each one is a little different. (None are bad, I'm not saying that, so nobody get all defensive.) So, when you are pulling, be sure you know the tactics of your League. Some prefer you to pull as hard as you can, some prefer to take it a bit easier. Some prefer you to go certain directions, or sector it out, some just let you go wild. So, definitely, before you get too far into herding Rikti, do one or two of the MSRs with the same lead, just to get the rhythm of it.
  6. These are two of my favorite powers in the entire game. This is pretty much how I slot mine for leveling. I do not slot the KB>KB IO into Singy, though. The reason is, I often use him to guard my back, and I like it when the baddies trying to ambush me go flying. Gives me some breathing room to react and deal with the new threat. Once I get to 50 and get the purples going, I straight up 6-slot Singularity with Soulbound Allegiance, then just let her go to town. Wormhole gets 5-slot Absolute Amazement and the Sudden Acceleration KB>KD. Once you get that KB2KD IO in it, Wormhole really is one of the best controls in the game. Long term stun and put them where ever you want them, it really is just ridiculous. Good hunting!

    Herding MSR

This is a great discussion and one that many people will find useful. All good suggestions, and I have to second or third the "slow down" recommendation. I have a Fire tank (have courage @Linesthey work great) and normally she just rushes through everything. These Rikti are so slow and so distractable it is ridiculous. They trudge along and if you get more than a few feet away, they go back to picking their toes. Almost like they know you are leading them to the slaughter. So, you do have to be ready to pause a lot and reapply aggro. I use Taunt, Fireball, and Pyro Judgement as ranged aggro applyers. I use Fire Sword Circle to apply it close up. Fire Aura has good aggro, so that helps. Definitely attacking the grates helps bring them over to you. They are still slow, of course, but sometimes they will actually use their teleport. Pulling the bosses, of course, helps the minions to come along, so I usually focus my aggro builders on them.
  8. Hey, y'all know what a blapper is, right? Ridiculous idea of ignoring the range power of a Blaster and focusing on melee. Well, I want to do the same thing with a Dominator, make a Scrappinator, or maybe you want to call it a Dominapper. Anyway, something that focuses on melee damage in the secondary, rather than ranged. I'm thinking Dark/ for the primary. It has some good controls, and the -ToHit debuff will be good to keep me alive while I am too close to the bad guys. So, I am wondering what is your recommended secondary for best melee combat? I am looking at Savage, Martial, Energy, Thorny, maybe even Rad or Earth. Any thoughts on which one is best are appreciated!
  9. I really like this idea. I have a hawk-person concept that is current Ice/Savage and I don't really like it. It was supposed to be Wind/Savage, but we don't have Wind/. Dark/Savage seems like a great combo. I have never tried Dark/ Control and I love the concept. I notice you did not take Vicious Slash or Rending Fury. Was that just because of concept or because they suck? With Blood Craze, I'm just thinking, a Dom with a heal. Wow

    How Does Beam/ Stack Up?

That's funny, /Temp was my other choice. /TA mainly won out because of it's lack of melee power. Explain to me why /Temp is better, I need to be convinced!

    Telekinesis???

So, coincidentally, I was on a team with a guy who uses Telekinesis. He mostly used it in those "oops overaggroed" situations. But, I did see him use it once to pin a bunch of guys in a corner. Then we just went to town and beat them down. It's a good thing we weren't actually playing heroes... He also used it once with the old "drop the enemies over the cliff" trick. THAT was hilarious. I DO like this idea. But, is it necessary for that? It seems like with Dominate, you could stack up pretty high mag pretty quickly, anyway. Is this incorrect? Well, maybe, but to be honest, I like having a few garbage powers in the powersets. It gives me something that is easy to skip so I can afford the Pool powers I want. I don't mind skipping TK, I just wanted to make sure I was not missing something awesome about it and would have to respec again later (I have done that).
  12. Storm has kind of spoiled me on all other secondaries.
  13. LOL I kind of have this problem, too. My first 50 was a tanker, so that was how I learned to play, kind of my default style now. So, anytime I play anything else, if I get going, I kind of forget the proper tactics and run it like a tanker.
  14. VV

    Telekinesis???

So, what is up with Telekinesis? Does anyone have any strategies for useful strategies with it? I have tried the obvious of pushing things into a wall or corner, but that is suuuuuuuper problematic. The push is radially out from me, the caster, so gathering them is tricky. When they run into something, they tend to slide around or along it. It seems like it might be awesome, though. Looking it Mid's, it seems to have no ToHit roll, is that correct? It does not take Acc enhancements. Is it an auto-hit power? Also, the duration cannot be extended, so that seems to indicate it just lasts until you run out of endurance. Is that correct? And, if I am reading this right, when Domination up, it is a SIX (6) freaking Mag Hold! Is that right? It just seems like with all that, it could be really powerful, if I knew the right way to use it. Anyone have any expert advice.

Reporting back! Beam/TA is 50 and pretty well tricked out and she rooooooooooocks. Highly recommended.
  16. Hello all! I seem to recall back on Retail I had a bind that would target a teammate and fire a power at or through them with 1 click. I have tried to recreate it here, but it does not work right. Here is an example: /bind numpad5 "powexecname O2 Boost$$teamselect 5" Theoretically, when I press the 5 key on the number pad this should select the 5th player down in the team list and shoot O2 Boost at her, all in one click. I have also tried it this way: /bind numpad5 "teamselect 5$$powexecname O2 Boost" They both have the same effect. Pressing the 5 key once will select the proper teammate, then pressing it a second time activates O2 Boost. Another example: /bind numpad1 "teamselect 1$$pow_exec_name Taunt" or if you prefer /bind numpad1 "pow_exec_name Taunt$$teamselect 1" This is supposed to select the teammate indicated and fire taunt at their target in one click. Works the same as above, it takes 2 clicks, one to target, one to activate. I've done all the research I can, and as far as I can tell, this should be the right syntax and should target and activate with just 1 click. So, my question is, do I have the wrong syntax OR have they removed the ability to target and fire in one click OR is there some setting in the Options menu that I have missed OR am I just misremembering and it was never possible? Thanks in advance for any help you can give!
  17. This is basically it. For more advanced tanking, keep your head on a swivel so you can keep track of where everyone is. You are not a blaster or scrapper, so you do not need to mashing buttons continuously. Take a few seconds here and there to look around. Watch the HP bar on your teammates and help anyone who seems to be getting low. Keep things moving. You jump into a group, fire off a couple good AOEs to get their attention as the teams moves in and starts mowing them down. When you are down to the last few and you know that nobody is in any danger, head off to the next group to get it all gathered up. It should be nice and packed about the time your teammates get there and unleash. This will greatly speed things up. Next step up is maximizing AOEs. Related to that is minimize movement. This is optional, but appreciated. For example, you run into one of those big rooms with like 18 spawn groups. Once the team locks down the first one and drops all their AOE DoTs, you can go get more. Do not try to herd up the whole map, unless you are sure your team can handle it. Bring them in a group at a time. Your team can just sit there and chew through them without wasting time running from one to another. When fighting a boss, keep their attention. There are very few bosses that have any ridiculous tricks to them that a decent tank cannot handle. A few of the top-end TFs set on high difficulty need actual tactics, but for most bosses, just go in and start pounding. Despite some people whining that tanks are irrelevant these days, I can tell you that the vast majority of players do appreciate having a good tank along.
  18. Well, cool, I'm surprised to see so many recommendations for my personal favorite, Gravity Control. For some reason, the visual of massive bad guys, like Council Wolves, just floating serenely in the air is so satisfying. Then you pound their face with a forklift and YEAH. Storm is another favorite, and it does some some splashy effects. You get Frozen Rain, Lightning Storm, and Tornado going, and things get hectic fast. I'll add a vote for Titan Weapons, of course. It definitely looks impressive and powerful. I am told it is quite a good set, but I can't get my TW Brute to work. Maybe better on a Scrapper. I have a War Mace and it is pretty satisfying when you bonk people with it. Has some nice maneuvers and has been good to me.
  19. Because it is fun to play? I have two that are T4'ed out with the spares that I want for them. I still play them because they are fun. I have other toons that I play, too, but I don't neglect a toon just because it is maxed out in power. That seems kind of counterproductive. I mean, here you worked all this time to get them to the point of uberness and now you are not going to enjoy ubering around smashing things to bits?
  20. Your privilege to swing your arm ends at the tip of my nose. At the very least announce that you are doing it so anyone who does not want to fly can move out of the way. Or, learn the play the game so you can use group fly so it does not impact your teammates. Really, it sounds like you are the bad/lazy player.
  21. So, first of all, I just want to say this is the best thread ever. Turns Teleport from a minor annoyance to a gawd power. I have a question about this one. I tried it and it seems to just teleport me max forward, and not max up. Is there a trick to it?
  22. I love the ever-changing title of this thread
  23. Good question and good explanations. I get the impression that a lot of people were missing the same thing as the OP. I did a LOT of Hami runs until the zone caps killed them, and I noticed that most people did not choose Hami-Os as rewards.
  24. This is how I play my Grav/Storm and how I always recommend anyone play any Controller. I think this is partly where the "controllers are not relevant" mindset comes from, playing controllers as backline support when they should be frontline offense.

    What next?
