Slot Tornado for KD and Def Debuff. Helps you melt (literally) everything.

Make Rest automatic while out of combat
VV replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
This already happens. -
I was wondering if it would be too hard to increase the coalition size? If it is easy, I think it would be a nice way to encourage more community.

Why would you only be able to afford one? Are you going to quit playing the character? I mean, if you are asking which one to buy first, start with Overpowering Presence. Put it in something AOE that you cast often. Then go out and massacre more stuff and buy Will of the Troller, too.
-
I took Musculature for mine. Grav/Storm already has some nice damage, so I wanted to go ahead and pump that up. The control a G/S already has is pretty overwhelming, so I didn't see any reason to focus on increasing that.
-
Cool thanks! So, I definitely want to take all the armors. I was thinking about taking Telekinetic Blow just for the fun of a big punch, and to make room, leave out Psi Blade because it seems like kind of a wimpy little attack. Do you think that would be okay?
-
So, basically, someone saying/playing this no-damage tank idea is VERY rare and just kind of silly to even bother to discuss. Ah, the good old internet, there to blow even the tiniest irrelevancy all out of proportion.

I was on an on all-controller, 1 brute PuG the other day. Totally random. The poor Brute had hardly anything to do. Stuff melted so quickly that he could barely get to the combat while there was anything left. And I see that this is another thread that comes down to "no specific AT is ever needed for a mission/radio team of 8." You can verify this by joining any 8-person team of 50s doing endgame story content, or even TFs. Run along with them for a few missions and see how it goes. Go AFK for a bit ("gotta water my dog" or something), then come back and see if they were really suffering. They weren't. You could be anything, they could be anything, and the loss of you for a bit would barely matter. I mean, I don't know why this question comes up all the time. This is common knowledge on PuGs. On any PuG, people drop in and out, and most people don't even pay attention to what AT they are. Yet, you continue to rofflestomp through the content, even on 4x8. This is the main reason why my current campaign to get the devs to "fix" things is to NOT buff any of the ATs, as they are doing with the Tankers soon. Instead, if they have some free time to do some devving, focus it on buffing up the enemies. Pretty much any 8-person team of any combo of 50s can faceroll 4x8 missions. Periodt. So, if you want to make it more necessary to divide up a team into specific roles, you need to make the missions harder.

First, thanks for quoting me! Seems like a great build, lots of flexibility, with solid battlefield management, plus good support buffs and debuffs. A few questions. 1) Dimension Shift + Wormhole, I do not understand the use of it. Is it just to stun them and keep them from wandering off? Because WH + Crushing Field is good for doing that. 1b) I see that you have Energy Font on WH, and the Trap of the Hunter Proc on DS, but is that enough damage to kill everything in there? Or do you have to go into the DS and do it yourself? 2) I thought you had decided to put the Overpowering presence into Crushing Field because it can be procced more often. I did that and it rocks. Why still leave it in Wormhole? 3) How often does the Gaussian's Build Up proc fire while Tactics is toggled? 3b) I don't understand the 6 slotting of Gaussians in Tactics at all. The set bonuses in it are not that exciting in this case.

Any Thoughts on the best Lore Incarnate to take for a Tanker
VV replied to TacoHammer's topic in Tanker
I took the Polar Lights because I thought it would be cute to have a couple of tiny lights blasting the snot out of everything but, 1) they die like 15 seconds after we get in combat and 2) even if they don't I don't see them blasting much. 3/10 very disappoint, would not recommend. I might try Carnies next just because it would be funny having those snootie jackwads servicing me. -
In all my years of MMOs, I have literally never heard anyone say this, except in this context. Do you have an actual like to people actually saying this?
-
Okay, thought I would start something new! Never played around with either Bio Armor or Psi Melee. Honestly, I don't even remember them from the Retail days. But, they seem fun and they fit perfectly for one of my regular concepts. A mutated, demon-fused, cyborg-implanted Wombat. She has gained both impressive physical and mental powers. So, my question to start with, are there any particularly skippable powers in either set. I know, I know, many powers fall under the "it depends" category, but I mean, are there any powers that are just so lame and underperforming that is does not depend. Powers you should ALWAYS skip no matter what. Any of those?
-
Honestly, I skipped most of it because it seemed like a rant about the fact that humans are humans and not all are nice. But, this statement is kind of ridiculous. Unless you have made some sort of purposefully gimped character with a bunch of useless Pool powers, there is no content at even level that any character cannot do with regular SO enhancements. They even put an option in to turn the difficulty down to -1 if you do find something too challenging.
-
Cool, thanks everyone for the ideas!

This is my basic policy on my tank. If the team lets me, I will make the run go faster. If they team wants to go crazy, that's cool, too, I'll just do my best to keep everyone alive. I never "wait here" or anything like that, I see it as my job to keep things moving forward as fast as possible, while making life more convenient and more efficient for my teammates. That means as close to zero downtowm between mobs as possible. Or delivery is even better. I do my best to keep things moving just at the upper edge of the team's ability.
-
Really? Those are Council, right? I guess I never noticed. The KB gets those guys LOL. That's the great thing about a Grav/Storm is that there are so many different control/mitigation types, that nobody has a chance.
-
It is a shame that the original idea is not doable, though I totally understand why. My one villain is a real eco-terrorist, bent on the destruction and hopefully extinction of the entire human race in retribution for all they have done to Mother Earth (Beast/Nature MM). Would have been a funny mix with all the incels and climate deniers in the aforementioned type of VG, since those are the type of people she would hate the most.

I'm a lazy arbitrager. When I do it, I just buy low, sell high. No converting or building or nonsense like that. There are plenty of things that have millions in variation that it is plenty profitable. Not as good in terms of Inf/minute, but much better in terms of Inf/brain cell.
-
Was anyone in The Luck Charmers back on live? I forget what the channel was actually called, but that was the nickname we used. Back in the days before Inf rained in buckets from the skies, we were the dirty arbitragers that made sure that everyone with money had supply on whatever they wanted, and that everyone who wanted to quick-sell had buyers (e.g. we bought low and flipped high). Now I don't even bother to play the market. Just buy playing the game I get nearly more Inf/Merits than I can spend, don't even need to farm AE.

You can almost always get rare salvage for around 500,000 - 600,000. Remember that the numbers you see in the history window are just the last 5 sales, not an average for sale price. If I bought five Pangean Soils for 10,000,000 each, and you checked right after that, you would see it going for 10 million Inf. Because I am lazy and impatient, I generally bid 555,555 for all rare salvage. That will almost always close within 15 minutes. If not, it certainly will overnight. If you really want to be pinch-penny, you can generally get it for as low as 400,000 or so, but that might take up to a week to close. Also remember that prices trend lower on weekdays and higher on weekend. That all being said, if you don't like the market, ignore it. You can easily get yellow sets for practically nothing. Or, just stick to SOs. Nobody will ever know.

Attuned Enhancements upper level isn't capped by set level?
VV replied to MrSnottyPants's topic in The Market
I wondered this exact thing. Now I guess I will test it to make sure. I'm not so worried on a set like Decimation that caps out at 40, but for some of the sets that cap out much lower, that could be an issue. -
Haha! Laugh at my pain! Laughter is the best medicine!
VV replied to Caulderone's topic in The Market
Yeah, I learned the hard way not to market when blitzed. Mine wasn't that bad, but I've gifted a few folks 25M on 25K IOs. I've also gone the other route and sold off a few things for well under average. -
I'm here! Was VV on Live, now I go by @V.V don't know why the other was not available. I play mostly on Indom and a bit on Torch. There is a Jello Shooters chat, so join up!

The answer to the monotonously repeated question, "Is [insert AT here] needed," is always the same. A Tanker, like any AT, is most useful when played correctly. A poorly played AT, of any type, is not particularly useful. This does seem obviously self-evident, but people continue to re-ask the question. The thing about the Tanker AT is that most people do not play Tankers correctly, moreso than any other AT. This is why there is an impression that Tankers are not needed. (Gotta insert a pet peeve here, nothing annoys me more than seeing the "primary tanker" off to the side focusing on one dude while the rest of the battle is elsewhere.) And, as has been said above, any team of 8 decently built and played characters, of any AT mix, can pretty much steamroll most content. Not ALL content, but the vast majority. Ever run in a full team of Controllers? Defenders? MMs? But, if you need more proof, roll out with a full team of Tankers and see how it goes. No time spent buffing or healing or debuffing, no need for controls, no worrying about teammates getting mezzed or squishies going down. Just a straight roll through everything at high speed. Suddenly, your question will become, "Do we need any NON-tanks?"
-
Yup, it's gonna go in all of mine from now on! Also, what happens if you put it in Singularity or another Controller pet?
