  1. Perhaps you can help illuminate why it seems this doesn't work for everyone: I have always, across multiple computers and timelines, all the way back to ~2005, used this simple switch: /Bind x "powexecname fly$$powexecname hover" I don't know if it's the quotes or what, but this is a simple one-button switch already which I use religiously. If neither are on, enable 2nd toggle If both are on, actually I don't remember but I think it kills both. If just one is on (doesn't matter which), one is enabled and the other disabled. I've never understood why people get all complicated with toggleoff/on commands and what value it grants in that scenario, so it leaves me struggling to understand the need here. But others say "that doesn't work" on the forums and we don't really do any in depth troubleshooting. I wonder if looking for ways to relax the syntax might work just as well.
  2. Just Epics. I think it's reasonable to expect all epics to get this treatment eventually. That namely closes the loophole of everyone having a 1-button Boss Hold, which in turn helps to sharpen the role of Control ATs.
  3. No as in just yesterday I proved it would not hit a target at 104'. I will triple check and make sure beta matches live but this isn't so simple. Method: I landed a thumbtack directly to the right (about 2' in game) of a gray con bad guy. I then moved out to just over 100' and activated FS. It grabbed 2 others but not him. Check log: only 2 accuracy rolls, no misses.
  4. Stand by. I tested this to be 100' on tanker for certain, but I need to repeat on an up to date environment.
  5. You should try Fold Space. The mechanics and specifics make it a very different experience from Wormhole. If you are going on theme alone (mass teleport), that would be like saying blazing aura is basically fireball.
  6. And! What justification exists for telling people to stop trying to make their private server better? How entitled does someone have to be to soapbox about the nerve of someone else trying their best to improve with the information they have? Someone just lock this now. It's fucking pointless.
  7. Oh that's simple: it's just redundancy tolerance. This game isn't exactly thrilling in the combat department. Re-grinding the same content on the same toon is not a winning formula for longevity. Granted that CoH has horrible tools for adding new content but has an unending pipe for new characters, it's just easier to shake up the experience on the alt end.
  8. Isn't that just more accolades? Each tier would need written, so it wouldn't be limitless. And if it's account-wide, you still need either a restriction that says "only applies to your level 50s" or you've just introduced another Judgement. The diminishing returns is nice and all, but it's still permanent benefits you aren't unlocking more of any time you earn a point of XP on a character who isn't 50 (though I suppose nothing says you'd need to be 50 to start earning these). I guess what I'm saying is... thanks, I hate it. (sorry, you know I hate it with as much love for you as possible)
  9. @Andreah I think we're in a similar space here. We would probably just prefer the solution is "don't." But if it was deemed a definite path forward, you basically need considerations as I mentioned. Another thing that occurred to me though was creating more ways to get the same benefits as other builds. So for example: Use veteran levels to directly buy accolades Use them to convert out set bonuses and add them to SOs (a way to grant higher power to the folks that don't memorize sets but are still willing to put in the work to get their toons to high end set power levels)
  10. I would only accept an unlimited progression system if it was... A) extremely minor benefits AND B) account-wide AND C) only applies to level 50 characters. That's not multiple choice, it has to meet all those requirements, or else you've just killed altism. It's probably hard for some people to wrap their minds around, but people can be both, neurotic levels of completionist and want to play lots of alts. Endless progression forces an unnecessary choice.
  11. It's more accurate to say Talos Island's Warriors are based on the movie. Warrior Earth exists and shows us an endpoint to their evolution. Ideally, they would evolve for higher level new arcs, while still retaining some of their costume flair. That's not destroying anyone else' artistic integrity.
  12. I have presence on a few toons. It's not amazing but I don't see why people act like it's such garbage. Placate on a ninjutsu scrapper is funny, provoke on a Sentinel is actually really useful, and fear is a decent mez that takes procs. Unrelenting is also nice and thematic on a few characters. I'm not saying "guys, this is good stuff." But there are at least 2 stinker powers in every pool, and I'd place many of them below an aoe taunt. In the case of medicine, there are close to 5 worse choices! Tbh, I just want the epic treatment right now. 2 powers with no reqs 2 powers with 1 req 1 power with 2 reqs (Different rules for travel sets)
  13. Didn't see this mentioned but apologies if it was just missed: Most people are probably not trolling with Fold Space: it's entirely about how it works. Fold Space is a pbaoe, meaning you cannot target what you want to teleport. Once activated, good luck figuring out who all it will seek out and in what order to fulfill its (16 target, iirc) target cap. @laonidaswhat you're probably seeing is people looking at a group that probably doesn't even involve you and activating it. They don't even know if they were successful or not - just that now they're surrounded by targets and that's good enough. It's not a crutch, it's not worthless, it's not troll. It's just a tool, and you gotta learn how to use it. (I am rosy-eyed in my cynicism: I think this power is too much work for most people to take the time to figure it out just so they can troll with it)
  14. Tekken, is that you? Dumb attempt at doubling up on a joke out of the way: Are people skipping power crash once they get to epic? This is what I was expecting would start happening so I'm curious if we've had enough time with it to decide. Btw, I still think the set is slightly op on stalker.
  15. Yeah Sign me up in general, but gonna echo that -def isn't great here (it's already similar enough to Rad). Also Thank you @Aberrant for providing a much better image for the Time Gladiator™!
  16. Indeed, Powerhouse is on the record around here somewhere saying he doesn't see why Rooted should be any different from Grounded. In other news, if anyone has a brighter picture of the Time Gladiator picture, send it over for me to update my post with.
  17. Some interesting thoughts there. I still tend to think "well it already has a taunt aura" but there's precedent for two. About the idea of +incoming buffs. if you just mean more +incoming healing, sure. If you mean like "make incoming support effects stronger" like a power boost effect... Yeesh, that seems hard. I'm pretty sure that's directly impossible. The dirty secret of Nature Affinity is that it debuffs your ally's healing resist. This trick doesn't work for most (all?) other debuffs, which are set to ignore resistances explicitly. They're set up like this to prevent things like SR's DDR from reducing the effectiveness of Force Field bubbles. So instead it would be something a bit hacky like a large aura with "all nearby allies have a +special global effect, but only applies to buffs where you are the target." @TyrannicalI believe I was a bit critical of a nature set in the past, basically saying "you better bring the fx for a set so specific" and you delivered; nice work. Another fun effect I'd love to have access to would be Wild Bastion's plant sash (that may be included and I missed it). Mechanically, I think it's good too - though no one likes Rooted :P. I also find myself strangely feeling like the click heal should be HoT.
  18. Some melee epics. Time Mastery - Brute, Tanker This is based heavily on Earth Mastery, and pulls from Time Manipulation (Support set) and Temporal Manipulation (Manipulation set). It lacks a "blast" and in fact most moves don't deal damage, so leaving in the "Delayed" mechanic is probably fine. It can be shifted to be more in common with Arctic by dropping the 3rd power for something like a ranged version of Aging Touch. - Time Wall: From Temporal, ST immobilize with some riders - Time Stop: All Time sets have this. ST Hold. - Time's Juncture / - Dimension Shift / - Detention Field: Time's Juncture seems like a decent stand-in for Soul Mastery> Darkest Night, but I think it's too strong on the rest of the chassis. More likely is Dimension Shift or even Detention Field to provide a "limited" control similar to Earth Mastery's Salt Crystals. Honestly, I think this would actually be really powerful on a Tanker, whose life more immediately depends on a good Capture. This represents taking an enemy out of the timeline. - Distortion Field: From Time, location AoE slow with a tiny chance for holds (2-3% every time it ticks the location) - Time Shift: From Temporal. Targeted AoE Disorient, -Speed, -ToHit. Future Mastery - Scrapper, Stalker I took a lot more liberty with this one. I took design cues mainly from the Patron pools, but I didn't follow my own guidelines that closely. - Single Shot: Beam Rifle t1 (Charged Shot might be better just due to the name). - Time Stop: ST hold - Back to the Future: A Phase Shift clone. You begin to fade from polaroids of family photos. - Cutting Beam: Beam Rifle cone attack - Loop time: Summon duplicate of self (I'm hopeful we can summon an ally pet version of the characters that appear in Keith Nance's arc) to fight for you for a while. Remember to travel back in time whenever you're logged out to help out previous versions of yourself!
  19. Yeah, not that I think it makes it much easier (I still think redraw alone would be hell and back again), but I don't think there's an assumption of glove customization -- that's what your chosen outfit is for. So you choose a gun, you choose not to use it by selecting hand blast animations, you choose the color of your beams, you're good to go. We'd I'd much rather have a tintable syringe in Experimentation than a slew of gloves-that-are-powers. 🙂
  20. Update: transferred character from Indom to Excelsior after today's maintenance and unlocked a new zone accolade - still nothing. Which makes sense in retrospect, because I confirmed I do have Passport unlocked.
  21. Ok, can confirm it's 100, though it appears it's overall -- there's no exception for messages with attachments (I have 2 emails without and 98 with). @UberGuy - it's not a limit of 100 messages in your inbox. it's a lock on your ability to send outgoing email until you're down under 100. So I'm not too terribly concerned about truncation.
  22. @Galaxy Brain about your difficulty settings - I like the idea of losing +3/x1 for a more "normalized" medium difficulty. +3/x1 seems to me like a niche difficulty for people running perfect Stealth and more interested in completion rewards. Maybe I'm off-base and I need to change the way I play, but I tend to view each +party member as about +half a level, as well as +extra targets, which means it's less likely to strain my accuracy. Hmm. Add this to the "Tentpole" list: "Correct" level of play The content levels that "count" in your mind. Nothing is worth discussing unless it's level 50(+) All levels are important. I expect my controller to be balanced at level 4. There are sweet spots that should be used for benchmarking Since my take is "classes and builds should have a sense of parity by around 22, from then all the way until 50. I don't actually care about 51+ unless it's affecting my level 48 play," this is one that runs me afoul of people who don't even start playing their characters until they're 50.
  23. It would be awesome, no doubt about it. But to echo what others have said: animation work - even using existing animations - appears to be one of the hardest tasks in CoH development. In this case, there's one additional and significant hurdle: redraw would not exist for pulling out your fists. I don't think we have literally any power in the game with a redraw and a non-redraw version. Maybe one of the VEAT attacks? but I still want staves in beam rifle. I don't care how weird it looks with that "pistol grip" hand.
  24. Once upon a time, I remember someone suggesting a "Portal Corp" version of radio missions, where you run into thwart [random dimensional disaster], and you don't know the faction until you show up. I know it's not strictly what you're after, but things like this would be a fun way to play -- especially if they had some enhanced rewards. It would also justify all manner of under-used tilesets, such as the completely awesome and unused Kallisti Wharf office variant.
