  1. That's a pretty good point.
  2. ..because it's Tuesday! Area of Effect (AoE); An area affected by the use of a power. An Area of Effect power affects all characters and/or enemies in a specific geographic area, as opposed to a single character and/or enemy. This includes Targeted AoEs that employ a targeted entity to affect others around them, Location AoEs that focus on a targeted spot, and Point Blank AoEs that use the caster of the power as the center of the Area of Effect Is the current state of AoE the cause of some AT's roles being diminished? Are AoE's too strong? Should AoE recharge be slowed down? Or sped up? Are some areas too large? Cheers
  3. lots of ram & a ssd are big benefits.
  4. pics or it isn't troo. @ScarySai Point some out and I'd be happy to discuss. (this is not a challenge to all to try and show my many mistakes or instances of perceived hypocrisy (we all surely have them))
  5. yeah.. that's a stretch. But you are right the game is filled with gimmicks. The mechanic aspect where play must do x to be able to do y is my least favorite especially if it is less obvious. As described, that is not fun for everyone. [edit] While totally respecting that some really like those types of sets.
  6. Excited to see the game move forward. Seeing the word 'Balance' used obviously will draw some concern. Hopefully we are not trading pre level 50 variety and flavor for post level 50 benefit. That simply would not be cool. Homogeneous.. interesting. Pointing at part of the game while 'balancing' much of the rest.
  7. I gave you a like but disagree with "You guys will never learn" Hopefully the team is mindful of these concerns. Yes, please focus on new content, new powers and proliferation. (just keep in mind these could be heavy lifts compared to tweaks) Also, volunteers are likely to work on what they find interesting not what freemiums want.
  8. Small incremental changes is a prudent methodology. Adjusting a value may be the best move and not lazy.
  9. Nope. I really don't like them. Some are truly awful if the player does not leverage the mechanic. Insta-snipe and insta-assassin strike are about as much as I can stand. I would love to play Staff but having tried many just the description is a turn off now. If this is the intention for Energy Melee, I just feel that is more than a small adjustment and is no longer Energy Melee but a different set.
  10. Yeah I can see that out of context. However we're now talking about having tried some combo or sets with mechanics and not liking them.
  11. @Monos King This is exactly "I don't like chocolate ice cream". In this case, a step further: We tried it, don't like it and had a allergic reaction. (sets with mechanics)
  12. Allow me to take this one @Super Atom When someone says they don't like something, it is not an invitation to get talked into it. Some folks love gimmicks some don't, neither is wrong. Adding a gimmick to a set that doesn't have one could be wrong.
  13. Remember: Energy Melee was formerly an excellent power set and a top tier performer. It's equally applicable here as in the 'Energy Melee - Does not need' thread. Energy Melee was not a weak under performer and as such it was popular. It may be a bit of hubris to ignore those facts. If the July 2008 nerf was undone then everything else is gravy. No one is gonna cry if there is then or also an improvement to the powers Whirling Hands or Stun.
  14. This is pretty spot on. Thoughts on Kinetic Melee?
  15. I'm glad you like the combo moves. This is why it's good to have a variety of sets. There are folks who loathe the predetermined combos in favor on their own patterns which can vary situationally. This is great and appreciate your take even if we disagree. One thing you may be failing to take into account: Energy Melee was formerly an excellent top tier power set.
  16. Looked like a number of folks who don't typically participate (myself include). Thanks for organizing. Too bad about the disgruntled. Maybe that always happens and I'm just not used to it.
  17. Ah okay. But opposition? The folks who want to keep a power set are now the opposition.. I'd bet that there are more than you think. I would be willing to wager this months Homecoming finances that there are more than regularly active in PVP. Energy Melee was popular.
  18. Oh stop. You've either not read them (even in this thread), you're blind to them, or you simply don't know of what you speak regarding other folks who would like old ET back. Maybe see the first couple pages of 'Weekly Discussion 68: Energy Melee' or a slew of other threads. If you're asking if I've played Energy Assault, I have. I don't need to say if it's good or bad to be able to say it is not Energy Melee.
  19. Take one power away from many sets and it's a big deal. If Energy Transfer was reverted. It becomes my main for two archetypes and I would try it on others and in combination with lots of the new pairings. Something doesn't have to be the best for it to be fun. AT LEAST WE WOULDN'T BE HITTING CORPSES. If a janky new mechanic still results in Energy Transfer hitting corpses after a long animation, even some of the time, that's not fixed.
  20. Do you know the proposal is better or speculating? If you know let talks details. FYI Janky is a common word in technology, gaming circles, and media, too. When a new app, device, game, or movie premieres and doesn't live up to high-performing expectations, critics use janky as a synonym for glitchy or buggy to describe it. Energy Assault currently fits that description Asking for Energy Transfer to get reverted holds nothing hostage. sorry made edits and got sniped by your reply.
  21. I'm not trying to be difficult. It just seems to me that something is being pushed that a good number of people don't want. In response proponents of a rework are trying to negotiate a "see it does both what you and what we want" which under examination just isn't true. While it may not be "if a player does x, y, z perfectly they'll get what they want from time to time" it doesn't sound like it will work as intended or as it currently does. We're talking a completely different third option. Even if it is AWESOME something that diverges greatly should just be a new set. Folks have characters and builds already using the power set. Folks have been hoping a quick reversion might be possible. Revert Energy Transfer.. ..and then if there are other tweaks that work on top of that without being an over correction. That might be palatable. Holding any improvement to Energy Transfer hostage when the solution is quick and simple is just not cool.
  22. If it is just part of the time, no thanks. Folks would rather take what-it-did OVER something janky that does more damage sometimes.
  23. Sort of. With the proposal; Does Energy Transfer work with pre-nerf efficiency with or without the proposed mechanic? If it solves Energy Transfer only some of the time or potentially less than half the time.. well that's just pushing the issue around.
  24. Is the mechanic full time Energy Transfer or part time? I could be incorrect but my impression is that a mechanic would be part time.
