  1. @BurtHutt Thats not a bad idea and may be in the works. But just fyi - it's a long road. Not to side track this thread but simply complying with rules and regulations that have come out since the game retired.. eesh could be a big effort. In other news - Re-reading the page 6 notes it appears some of the things on peoples lists are in progress. Woot!
  2. Hehe. I get what you are saying. And I imagine you get what I'm saying too. If Super Jump did fail sometimes or Fly just stopped working mid flight. That would be hilarious. (but there might be torches and pitchfolks)

  6. ..but should assassin strike miss more than other attacks? Randomness is great, but somethings should work. Super jump should not just fail. nor buildup, nor toggles, nor personal force field.. at least not without some additional input to the formula. it's all math even if we don't like math

  10. I've always considered the Code of Conduct as follows: I've been warned, if I violate the rules even unintentionally I need to live with the consequences. If I violate the rules a second time, I should not expect an opportunity to do it a third time. Other topics: It is awesome that there is a Dev's Choice for player created content. It shines a spotlight on an amazing tool we have access to and it's uses beyond that-which-shall-not-be-named. Becoming a Game Master - just kidding...
  11. A change is coming. If it's already complete in the works, we'll get to test it and provide feedback. That does not make the thoughts shared in this thread less relevant. There may be some foreshadowing sprinkled in this thread, you be the judge.
  12. Trading one aspect of the set for another seems to be a sticking point. Choices are a big part of COX. If we take Maneuvers and Weave there may not be room for Hasten. If we cap defensive we may not be able to get recharge where I want or have extra slots for procs. If we take all of Dark armours toggles.. we are gonna have endurance issues to deal with. Many (myself included) like the simple, single target, hard hitting nature of Energy Melee. This is why we play it. We don't expect it to compete with AoE proc monsters. That's a choice. If there is no trade off, really there's not problem. (other than potential power creep) If you are giving me the old Energy Transfer and goosing Whirlwind and/or Stun that's awesome, let's do it. But that's not what we are hearing. Bringing up the term 'balance' and Energy Melee is a bit disingenuous. It's a strawman argument to support a preferred re-work. There is only upside, it can't really go down without malice. Not all sets have to be even. Some folks actually like playing sets that are perceived to be less than. Not all sets have to be reskinned versions of the same equation. It's okay to have some variety & outliers. Titan Weapons numbers are great, I'm still not playing it. That choice does not effect my 'fun'.

  14. To be clear: I prefer not to nerf things, that's part of the irony of my writing it. Power creep is always a big concern of mine, not because I don't want folks to be more powerful but because it does impact so much more than is obvious. The ripple effect is really difficult to anticipate. The current meta has some issues. Solving them is more whack-a-mole brain surgery as opposed to one definitive silver bullet.
  15. You have a good point. The less impact definitely the better from my perspective. Minor edit and we're closer in agreement "but I think the impact should be a lot less than we need worry about ." I think you'd still agree that it could be limiting and a concern if the case was: If we don't do the a, b, or c we don't get the X or Y.

  19. Terrible ideas for Energy Melee: Stunned targets provide bonus damage opportunities. So, if we're not hitting a stunned target the damage is lower. Pay attention or we're doing less damage than we could. Radiation has this, it is a bit difficult to track which target... folks mostly ignore it. We let the AoEs do what their gonna do. Can't we just do dependable damage all the time? I concede this may not push the current top damage dealers and am okay with that. Combo Power Up. (charge and release) Powers a, b, & c can result in a charge that can be used to provide ideal performance in powers X & Y. If we don't do the a, b, or c we don't get the X or Y. X & Y are not available in or near their ideal state all of the time. Maybe not even most of the time. If we play the way the designer requires we can optimize the opportunities. If we don't wanna play that way too bad. /em puke This means we're required to take the charge up powers and use them. Want them or not and they need to hit. No unslotted ter 1 throwaways. We HAVE to use it. You didn't want that tier 2.. you might miss out. We may not get to select flavor from pool powers do to the charge builders that could have been skipped now being required. Slotting variety could also become more limited. If this used only three powers in the set and worked every time, exactly the way I play this isn't so bad. But I have to imagine someone out there wants to play differently than I do. Energy Melee should be more interesting /em doublefacepalm
