Let's get ready to rrruuuummmble... buildin' a wrassler?
SeraphimKensai replied to ThaOGDreamWeaver's topic in Brute
You just need spandex and a microphone and tell people that they took your job https://youtu.be/wd8SmUVqVZs -
https://cod.uberguy.net/html/power.html?power=stalker_melee.claws.eviscerate&at=stalker Good catch. It says it's Area, Lethal on CoD.

This has me wondering about a Ninja/FF mm and trying to softcap the ninjas. Although Necro is probably my fav mm primary despite only having 2 of them (when I have 4 robots die to building three at one time for mm farming). I can just imagine a grave knight hacking away well smiling inside their bubble.

Good catch, I meant to type 30% but my fingers are fat, or lazy. Take your pick. I updated my post.

I'm assuming your difficulty wasn't set to +4. Does he exhibit the same level behavior if ran as a standard mission and not as a flashback?
-
If you go that route, add in Soul Mastery for Darkest Night for another -30% damage. AAO is -7%, as is KM attacks in siphon mode. That could leave a lot of mobs essentially tickling people to death.

I have one of these in my cadre of toons that incidentally I've only ever used to play a game of soccer with an energy ball on a bridge in Kallisti Wharf with a GM a few years back. With the development of hard mode TFs, and the Force Field revamp, the FF/Dark could be somewhat useful. Originally I paired the sets for the synergy between +def and -tohitdebuff myself but found that there wasn't enough debuffs out there to really be useful at the time. I am at work currently, and have some family in town visiting but I'll try to find some time this weekend to take a look at how I would actually slot mine and see how it compares versus your take.

In before move as well. Fiery aura works on Tank or Brute. I don't like things running from burn. I'd almost suggest it on tanker for the higher res numbers, and larger cone on shadow maul alone.

I've been thinking about this one a bit for myself and thinking that if I somehow lived in the game I'd probably live in Talos Island. I think it would be cool to have powers but I'm guessing I wouldn't naturally have them. Maybe I become a Warshade's host. Guessing I would likely fall in line as a vigilante but I don't think I'd actively using my powers to get into battles with gangs, monsters, demons, and aliens. I'd probably try and keep a low profile and take care of the family. I'd have a day job, because I've been unemployed before and I get bored easily, so work it is for me. At least the commutes are quick with Shadow Step. It's kind of an interesting take on the whole "if you had one super power what would you have" question. I assume though that we wouldn't have knowledge of the outside world, otherwise we'd be trying to break the 4th wall all day.

Nature is a very strong. Between wild growth, wild bastion, overgrowth your pets should be reasonably solid especially when in your leadership range. You'll ideally play in melee using Entangling Aura to hold most mobs which should mitigate further damage from your pets, and if they do get hurt you have regrowth. Additionally spore cloud is very helpful. If you really need you can use fortify pack as well, although that will lower your damage output so whether or not it's better for you if questionable, based on how fast killing mobs will decrease incoming damage.

Hey again folks. This week the conversation delves more into the metaphysical projection of self into the game setting. So this isn't about any character you necessarily have but what you perceive yourself to be like if you lived in Paragon City, the Rogue Isles, or Praetoria. Do you have powers? If so what's your Archetype? What's your Powersets? What's your origin story? What's your alignment? Do you openly use your powers or do you hide them? Where do you live? How do you deal with life? Do you have a day job? Hopefully you have fun with this one.

My points reference Necro/dark as I have a lot of experience with that combo (I have 2 lvl 50s of it that I'll often run together). I agree: darkest night, fearsome stare, dark servant, and the lich paired with shadow fall. that's a pretty significant tohitdebuff on mobs right there, that you should be able to keep topped off with twilight grasp. Between the horde, grave knights, lich, dark servant, shades, and soul extraction you should have a literal undead shadowy army. So I leads me to believe that you're either not slotted or under slotted, and likely side kicked up trying to hit things that are set to +4. Your horde has a -2 level shift, and grave knights a -1, so that's like them trying to fight +6 and +5 enemies. Once you get your alpha level shift that helps offset that, but you have to taken into account their negative level shifts and build in some tohit for them (taking tactics helps).

I used to main an Empathy defender eons ago.... and Illusion/Empathy worked best IMO in PvP prior to defenders getting access to patron power pools. As at the time they had access to Superior Invis (still do) and had access to a power boost that recharged in 120 seconds base as opposed to 240 seconds base. Now defenders can get a 120 sec base power boost with Soul Mastery and have bigger buff values. For PvE content though empathy is overshadowed by a team's Destiny Buffs at max level, and as IO'd characters become the norm, the empathy buffs are less often needed. We had our hey day prior to the release of IOs and incarnates where team members would actually gather for RA, and good Empath would be able to keep Fort on 3 people on the team. I wouldn't play Illusion/Empathy today unless you were feeling nostalgic to be honest, as the meta has shifted to being proactive vs reactive. Also I agree kinetics works great with our pairings but with Illusion it's kinda subpar. Time Manipulation can work well with Illusion for Chrono Shift and helping getting Perma PA, but my original recommendations deal with -res debuffs to increase the damage PA does, since they can't be buffed outright. Any Illusion pairing can be built to have PA Perma with some IOs, which is fairly typical these days.

I really like: Cold, Traps, Storm, Dark, Poison, and Trick Arrow Otherwise Rad is a classic pairing that still works well enough.

Honestly I thought giving Kheldians and VEATs standard access to the various types of thematic powers would give people more flexibility with their character concepts not that they particularly needed them to make the characters playable but just to increase the potential for unique builds.

I personally like spines, but sadly spines doesn't do -def. It does -speed/-recharge. Thorns does -def instead. I've personally offered a suggestion before to make spines do -def instead, but it gained no traction. Back to the OP about the most team friendly stalker....I think it has to to be Dark/SD, as the -tohitdebuff on each attack helps a whole team's survivability, which is synergistic with grant cover.

Rain based powers generally work well on Corruptors due to Scourge. Defenders have larger buff/debuff scales. There's a few oddities though, out there and you might have to pull data from COD. An example for instance: Defender's lightning storm does more base damage than the Corruptor's version. I think this is because Corruptor storm powers are copies of the Controller version. That said I play a lot of Defenders and Corruptors and they generally work well enough either way. Now if you're min maxing, you'll want to look at the individual powers again, otherwise some designs are kinda common sense (example Empathy is going to do a better job on a Defender than a Corruptor).

I have lvl 50 versions of: Water/Storm Corruptor Ice/Dark Miasma Corruptor EA/Water Defender Dark Miasma/Elec Defender. So I have a bit of experience with each set on both Defenders and Corruptors. Each character is fully IOd to give it a semblance of a fair shake. That said I haven't empirically crunched the numbers on them, so my findings are subjective in nature. Water seems much more worthwhile on a Corruptor, as the damage hits harder and Whirlpool benefits from scourge. Dark Miasma works extremely well on both Defenders and Corruptors. I would point you to a water/dark Corruptor. And steer you towards Dark Mastery as well. That said with Tar patch on a Defender, maybe that -30% res is enough to offset the perception that water blast damage on a Defender was subpar. I don't know as I haven't ran the numbers.

Honestly there probably should be a HO/SHO that does recharge/acc and that would stabilize the dsync threat cost.

Clean up character recomendations
SeraphimKensai replied to KaizenSoze's topic in General Discussion
For the original discussion, as it seems to have veered a bit... I do like the suggestion for Corruptors due to the scourge mechanic, however the things that aren't killed super fast are usually wandering mobs or boss level mobs, so a Stalker might be a good choice as well. That said anything can be built to clean up stragglers or honestly to jump in and get the party started. It all comes down to how you build your toon. Perhaps I'd suggest maybe a Ice/Storm/Dark Corruptor, as ice storm, freezing rain, tornadoes, and lightning storm will linger in the area cleaning it up. -
need expert opinions - necro/kin or demon/kin?
SeraphimKensai replied to honoroit's topic in Mastermind
Time is a great powerset for an MM, I play it with Thugs personally. All pets are immune to recharge reductions, otherwise they can benefit from other buffs. So Chrono Shift is still useful in pets because of the healing and recovery. Otherwise the pets excels with a power boosted Farsight due to the defense buff. Playing a kinetics MM, I imagine you'll be fairly active with kinetics buffs. Necro is pretty strong overall of a powerset, and more so after the recent buffs it received with page 5. I use dark miasma with Necro personally. Increased density is good for smash and lethal damage, but it doesn't help against any other damage type, so in practice it may not be the most reliable means of keeping them alive. You'll be needing to use Transfusion. Yes MM's will occasionally weigh the circumstances and resummon as necessary. Sometimes multiple times during a battle, but if they are constantly being killed perhaps the effort is better suited at least for that encounter to focus on your other abilities.- 4 replies

Sounds like the $ is missing in his dialogue prior to PlayerName, as $PlayerName is a string to identify the player's name.

honoroitisfantastic WIP - Honoroit's long winded tier-splain for domi
SeraphimKensai replied to honoroit's topic in Dominator
It's a good start to a guide, thanks for your contribution. I'd recommend adding more and putting in testing regarding how it plays at various difficulty levels. You could try and load up the test server and run it with different primary/epic powersets to see how that influences it. Also when saying it's S tier, I'd suggest offering comparative analysis of thorny vs other assault sets. Because as is, the guide is fairly subjective with implicit bias. Good work so far and I'm curious to see how this develops as I do like thorny assault myself (more so for theme though as I have a dark/thorn in my cadre). -
like I said, it was an exercise in theory crafting. I probably wouldn't necessarily play it like that myself. Dropping flash arrow for piercing beam, you can do artillery's in place of siphon insight if you prefer.
