  1. I guess the text preceding Provost Marchand ("This arc takes place after the events of Issue 23", or something like that) is sufficient... I kinda wish that kind of content was actually locked behind having completed the appropriate iTrials on One character, but I guess it's not that big a deal.
  2. would love if that was fixed. So weird that we don’t get told where to go to start that, and if you look in Find Contact it becomes even more confusing.
  3. I think that’s an assumption that may be logical but not necessarily correct. It doesn’t reflect any of the dev statements in this thread. They seem to have separated those ATs so that the original Villain ATs would include one of each role.

Or, you could add a line to each of the Roles in the listing that explains just a little: Tank: A primary function of your Archetype in a team is to attract as much enemy attention as possible to protect your teammates. Melee Damage: A primary function of your Archetype in a team is to do damage in hand to hand combat with the enemy. Ranged Damage: A primary function of your Archetype in a team is to do damage to the enemy from a distance. Control: A primary function of your Archetype in a team is to prevent enemies from taking action, or even turn them against each other. Support: A primary function of your Archetype in a team is to lend aid to teammates or pets, directly or by debilitating the enemy.
  5. Maybe in addition, reevaluate the listings in the Playstyles in the Character Creation screen?Like, add Warshade and Widow to Control, maybe add Warshade to Pets, Peacebringer to Melee, that sort of thing? Maybe Dominator goes in both Range and Melee?

  7. Maybe the only change that I would actually suggest, only a small one, would be Corruptors go into Support so that no Role has fewer than 4 options covering it? Yea, that looks good. Move Corruptor to Support and call it a day. Oh but I see that would mess with the "original villain ATs hit all roles" thing...
  8. Thought about it again, it probably does need to be a separate button, in case you want to summon just your boss for some purpose.
  9. it’s because there has never been something in the game that encouraged specific team layouts before. It is a minor thing, but if there’s going to be something like this, it would be nice if it reflected the actual diversity of approaches to playing the game. To be honest though, although there are adjustments to it I would like, I’ll also be happy with it implemented as is. I think it’s a neat idea.
  10. Thinking about it more, it need not actually be at level 1. Maybe it comes along with your level 26 Boss summon? Hey, maybe if you've been out of combat for at least 120 seconds summoning your Boss automatically summons all your other Henchman?

As you continue to examine new player experience, it might be worth it to restore some of the old funneling, such as to the Invention Tutorial at the University, the intended first contact for First Ward, (dare I say it) PvP zones/Arena, AE etc. Maybe do something to give people good reason to run the iTrials beyond BAF...

  13. I understand and appreciate this idea, but if the goal, as stated, is to clarify team roles for new players, perhaps you should let go of this idea and let some ATs fill more roles than others, as they actually do in the game itself?
  14. I like having a harder starting area option. You can always put your difficulty at -1/x1 and it should be doable even for new folks. Something telling new players about the difficulty settings and how to access them would be good though!
  15. WS and PB are Epics, and so they cover 3. MMs are not an Epic, so they only cover 1, in this system. MMs aren't Ranged Damage or Tank anyway. They are Pet Damage. Which brings me to my point: To aid Clarity for new players, the Role Diversity Bonus should ideally include ALL SIX of the roles mentioned in character creation. Currently Pet Damage is not one of them.
  16. I also would like to add something: I understand that it would take a fair amount of adjustment, but I think it REALLY makes sense that the new Role Diversity Bonus should include ALL SIX of the roles listed here. THAT would be an aid to Clarity for new players.

  18. In my opinion it would be preferable if somehow these were made to look a little MORE different. Make "Primal" and "Praetorian" bigger and "Earth" smaller, perhaps? EDIT: or adjust color and/or shading to emphasize "Primal" and "Praetorian"?
  19. Well it's a really "six of one, half dozen of the other" situation then. GC is better content, but you're right, it's not much of a tutorial.
  20. This too. Sending new players to Outbreak and Breakout instead of Galaxy is NOT what you want to do if you're trying to improve the new player experience. Short of revamping breakout and Outbreak to make them more fun and fast, I think the best option is to indicate which side each is.
  21. Yes, this is a great idea. Please consider increasing the Sentinel Ranged Damage number by 1.
  22. Why? Galaxy City is the more up to date option...This doesn't make sense. Instead the text should tell you: Outbreak for Heroes, Breakout for Villains, Galaxy if you haven't decided yet. After reading other replies, I take it back. Indicating that Outbreak and Breakout are best for new players while leaving Galaxy as an option better for returners makes sense.
