Lower damage taken requirement for BiB
fitzsimmons replied to fitzsimmons's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Thanks for pointing me to the other post back in September of last year. Sounds reasonable enough but as for implementation, I'd imagine changing the raw value would be easier and I'd be OK with 500k instead of 100k. I am resorting to damage farming for many of my toons. I'm sure others are in the same boat, if they want the BiB accolade. Regards, Dave -
Born in Battle requires the Ironman badge, requiring you to take a million points of damage. This only promotes damage farming. By the time I hit 50 I often have less than 500k points of damage taken. Can this be lowered to 100,000? For your consideration. Regards, Dave

I have TP on 2 toons. 1) My granite tank 2) My dp/storm corr. He has hover too. It looks cool teleporting into the middle of a mob with steamy mist running and raining down bullets and storm powers. Regards, Dave

Suggestions for a father/daugther duo
fitzsimmons replied to Ejlertson's topic in General Discussion
When the game first came out, I made a martial arts/invuln scrapper. My friend made an energy/energy blaster. It was not a good pairing and he laughed every time he knocked something back and I had to run after it, kick, run after it again. I need to pick better friends. Regards, Dave -
Make a fire/bio or fire/rad sent. I'd suggest fire/bio. It'll work for farm and general play. You also don't need to fight fire enemies. There's a shitload of farms there for different damage types. Just do a search and open your right eye, you'll see it. Regards, Dave

Sometimes it's fun to be ineffective. I have a dp/storm corr named Gus. In certain spots he'll (I'll) pop on hurricane, throw everything out and exclaim "I'm Gus the bus, choo choo!" He (I) gets over it pretty quickly but during those times it's fun to throw enemies all over the place. Not everything is about min maxing.

Hi, I had banged out a build for you last Friday with some commentary (see above). Had incorporated the feedback at the time and your desire to not have any bank-breaking IOs. Feedback for your specific build: Repair and the rez are skippable I see you decided to go with the MM ATOs, good on you You can take group fly instead for style points. I'm not sure if power boost will buy you much. Remember, RI offers a huge -tohit so add that to your defense numbers if you have RI on a mob which means you'd be softcapped or near defense softcapped to nearly everything Your resists are low, in my build S/L/E are much better Choking Cloud can be procced out Enjoy whatever you decide to go with. Regards, Dave

I’d suggest nature over kin. Kin doesn’t have any great mitigation aside from repel with kb to kd and an indirect heal. Fast doggos are fun, but defeated doggos don’t move as quickly. It’s best played on a non-MM in my opinion. However there are never any wrong choices, that’s why we have 1000 slots. Regards, Dave

Test it. Monitor the associated combat attribute and see if it drops after healing someone.

Based on feedback here (although I wasn't able to follow Redux's pet slotting perfectly), I whipped up this build for you. Looks good on paper. I did not slot in the MM ATOs but agree with Hedge's advice. A solid base for you to change or build on. Softcapped to ranged defense (the huge -tohit from RI gives you plenty of wiggle room) and near capped to S/L resists and decent energy resists. I did slot in a pvp IO and a purp in choking cloud (procs), the panacea in health and the gladiator's armor +def in charged armor. Those will all be a tad bit more expensive. The only one you *need* is the gladiator's armor. Overall, the build will be on the cheaper side. For a destiny incarnate I'd typically go with Clarion, but certainly dealer's choice. On an MM, I'd typically build for ranged defense (for myself) and resists. Then maybe work in provoke. If I didn't have room, I'd skip fallout and the rez. That type of build is not bank-breaking. Enjoy whatever you decide on.

Would need an emp and/or a kin as well to deal with end issues. Would be fun-ish. In my original post I mentioned the solo ITF with enhancements disabled. Gold star is still up for grabs on that. I tried to 2 man an ITF with a friend with setting. It was maddening and frustrating. Didn't last past the first mission and we didn't know what we were in for. Running with a carefully crafted team would certainly ease or eliminate the pain. Regards, Dave
-
Enhancements have no effect though. Slotting doesn't matter. It's pretty awful... but a challenge in it's own right. That aside, my group had done some SO/HO only runs (ITF, STF, LRSF) where we took a few toons and did second builds. No incarnates were allowed. It was fun. I got to dust off the therm, someone else brought a bubbler. It was easy but we had to put some thought into the toons we brought and work a bit more as a team. Brings back memories for me of the LRSF where we had to venge dive and stack for the last fight and bring nukes and shivans. Regards, Dave Edit: Just to clarify in case something is lost in communication, Task/Strike forces have an option you can click where enhancements have no effect. It's akin to running unslotted.

How far do YOU take your role playing?
fitzsimmons replied to Luminara's topic in General Discussion
Depends on the toon but with a couple of 'em it's not a stretch. "Irritable" and "Fart Monster" are two examples. Funny you mentioned ERP. My IRL outfit of choice when playing is white underwear, combat boots, a red cape and nipple clamps. It ties the whole thing together nicely. Regards, Dave -
You can make anything work. Most trollers are going to be a slow grind due to lack of damage. Ill/rad or Ill/ta is fun. Fire/poison is fun as well. Since you'll be doing mostly solo, I have a lot of fun on my grav/traps and you may too. Step 1, setup traps. Step 2, wormhole the enemies onto the traps. Step 3, profit. For extra damage, add procs to attacks. I have a procced out plant/poison. Probably my most damaging troller but you can proc out other trollers as well. I don't think you can go wrong so play something you want, ,it'll work. Enjoy!

issue 26 Patch Notes for October 6th, 2020 - Halloween!
fitzsimmons replied to The Curator's topic in Patch Notes Discussion
It's not overblown. On my fire/dark corrupter dual boxed with my farmer I was able to run in solo, anchor and pull the first GM with darkest night, snipe the 2nd and lead them to the platform and helpers. Apply debuffs (optional), shoot 'em a bit so I ensured a successful hit, but all those sonic attacks from 20+ helpers melted 'em. It was Jack and Eochai so it took 10 to 15 seconds for them to reach the helpers. 45 seconds end to end solo while dual boxed. 24 merits in 45 seconds across 2 toons. 15 seconds to exit out and restart. If you're not talking about time to restart then that's 24 merits in about 45 seconds which is obviously more than 24 merits per minute. The GMs and helpers were always in the same position so there's no searching. I'm not supporting keeping it, just stating that it's not an overblown claim based on experience *cough*. Certainly agree with the rest of your points. -
issue 26 Patch Notes for October 6th, 2020 - Halloween!
fitzsimmons replied to The Curator's topic in Patch Notes Discussion
In AE, people would farm missions where there were sonic attack helpers. Run it at +4x8 and dual box and you could get 24 merits in under a minute when solo (the more popular of the missions had 2 GMs). You just needed one successful hit on the GMs and drag 'em to the helpers. It was far higher than any other based on reward merits per minute. 8 to 10 times higher. -
I got the name "Buff" on Excelsior not too long ago. Was surprised. Also got "Arrest". However not sure I'm going to make a police themed toon. I already have a mace toon named Roman Helmet. He's purple. He's a purple headed warrior. Naming toons is my favorite part of the game. The other part of the challenge is to see how many I get to keep. Edit: RIP Enormous Genitals. That certainly comes across wrong but previously I posted that I *had* that toon name. He's gone now. Regards, Dave

I took another great name off the market fellas: Harry Ballsagna Don't judge me. He's a wolf and I enjoy roleplaying him as such. Regards, Dave

"Toxic" Community?.. My thoughts, feel free to add your own!
fitzsimmons replied to PseudoCool's topic in General Discussion
A TLDR thread but one time I accidentally used the c word. Another time I called someone a hashtagging millenial and told her to take it to Twitter to air her grievances. Was booted for that one and certainly booted for less. Toxic? No. Just middle-aged and triggered from time to time. It's very rare though. Maybe I should be the one to take it to Twitter. BRB. Regards, Dave -
I love my granite/ss. 39.85mph in granite (without rooted). A granite crosspunch is also just fun as is running down enemies, unless they run up on a curb.
