  1. Only in the case of if a player is really struggling and even then that's a maybe. There are people on this forum who actively admit to making subpar builds.
  2. In the listing of the HC team, he was one of the only two people mentioned behind Dr. Aeon's new SF. Hopefully they can bring someone in to keep similar content rolling in.
  3. I think for me you can minimize the clicks on EA. There will always be that one click on SR/Shield. I ran a +2 Manti tonight and hardly touched my clicks at all and went off on soloing numerous mobs. Solo is a different story, but once Incarnates kick in, end game content will be rather smooth.
  4. We are predicted to get 10 inches. I tried to go to the store and our car got stuck. We did get it out though.
  5. "except Regen" Tries to be shocked. I don't have a EA Brute yet, but I got a Claws/ea Scrapper to 50 so working on seeing how that goes. Initial pass was fine as Shockwave and Focus are helpful.
  6. Its technically Croax's since I copied theirs as I wasn't at the point of making my own builds which I'm more inclined to do these days. I'm not sure if I'll go back and make my own or not. I'm lazy, and oh look, a new character! For completion sake, here's the Fort build I copied. This is my own Claws/ea though.
  7. I would also look at Beam since it has -regen.
  8. Higher end testing, but it might be interesting to see how builds do on 801.2 +4/x8.
  9. I would put StJ higher since I don't think a build needs the amount of ST attacks which EM offers to a Stalker. I also loath EM's playstyle as where StJ is one of the smoothest in the game. Oh, EM hits like an absolute truck though. I have a StJ/ea Stalker and a EM/ea Scrapper. I debate keeping the Scrapper around as where my Stalker is my current favorite although I think a Fort and a recent Claws/ea Scrapper are right there. Bah. I should add Ice is really good for Stalkers. Ice Patch is cheat code for a Stalker.
  10. This is going to be my default stress test for a build when I get curious. I cranked out the recommended starter map and diff setting. Not much of an issue with it even without accolades, Incarnates, or inspirs. Higher diff setting, and yeah, that thing will get ugly quick. I'll go back and see how at least one try at something closer to my current diff setting and see how that goes.
  11. Assumed it was rather doable on a new build, and outside of the -recharge it was. Claws/ea. No accolades, Incarnates, or inspirs. 801.0 -1/x1 no bosses. I'll come back later and try boosting the diff and see where it goes.
  12. Updated the original post and added in a level 50 build as per Bill's suggestions. S/L are at 65% Res with the level 50 build. It definitely uses end, but there's nothing so far EA can't cover despite running 9 toggles. Ageless will handwave away any end concerns. Also picked up 4.5% Toxic and Psi Resist, and 13.5% damage. I only did a rather safe test on a BP map, but I don't think my health bar went down 20%. I only used Energize for the end reduction. I'll continue to stress test it, but even without accolades or Incarnates, I see no reason for this to not due the intended firing of my Claws/wp Brute.
  13. It could work as it would ultimately be very similar to what we have now. HC owns the base code. Anybody can come in and offer modifications. It is up to HC to manage those changes and only commit the ones they approve of. This is why someone can't simply add in a security exploit to Linux. If at some point someone starts working on their own flavor of CoH, see Ubuntu, then they can branch off of the base and go from there. The difference is we don't have people sitting around on lunch breaks or afterhours looking at typos, bugs, and any other sort of fix which is really the bigger area of focus for open source. HC can still be the driving force of the base. If someone wants to come along and code in a Sonic Melee set, then that can be added if HC decides to. If not, it could be part of a different flavor of the base. I have no desire for going to a different server. Rebirth gets mentioned enough here I sort of guess they are #2. Their population size sounds terrible, Hell, Redside here even on Excel isn't great. Just imagine trying to get a Redside SF going there. I have no qualms with people behind the other servers coming to HC, but the last time I made that type of suggestion I got a bit of blowback on it. Just imagine the pace of pages coming out doubling and what that does for HC.
  14. I honestly don't know if any other server is talking to NCSoft. To me it is up to HC. HC being the head of the open source version of CoH might be the only way I can see NCSoft letting CoH become official again.
  15. The map giving out low or high XP doesn't matter. I had assumed the total XP being given out to each character should be the same. This explains why a a character going from level 1 to 48 can be done at the same time as a level 50 getting 3 Vet levels. What I have experienced is that when I dual box, a level 50 famer is getting 3 Vet levels faster than the level 1 gets to 48. I reminded myself those characters aren't getting the same XP.
  16. Different server teams working on the same code base for certain things I'm guessing makes things harder for the HC team talking with NCSoft. Ideally, CoH would be open source and we would just have different flavors similar to Linux. If the market code is sitting there on GitHub, it would have already been fixed by now.
  17. My biggest complaint is the code for the last 5 on the market. I see it being broken all the time and it irks me to no end. There's tons more stuff to do. There are rampaging balance issues where certain powers simply aren't justifiable in taking and fixes go beyond adjusting damage, recharge, end use, but I at least get how that can take some time to work through and fix. Same with adding stuff. Working on the market code seems like an unloved bastard child despite how much it fuels the game's economy.
  18. This isn't a factor when dual boxing. There are easily other factors going on terms of XP gain that I might not be factoring as well. It is interesting to think about having a level 48 so quickly.
  19. Ripper is on odd comparison since it is a cone. However, Ripper has a arcana cast time of 2.376 as where Devastating Blow is 2.907 so not really around that time. DB is only behind Sky Splitter and Concentrated Strike for slowest ST animations unless I missed something, but I have been going through data on melee sets and haven't even finished round one of passing through the data. It does hit like a truck though. Bah, missed the point of Spines having DoT and DoT and Fury are a wonderful pairing. There's reason to use the set on any AT although Stalker is less exciting.
  20. I went and did the numbers on this and it checks out to being level 48. The thing which trips me up is my personal experience of a dual boxer goes against this. I might have to do a test on a level 1 build at some point. A 50 won't get a Vet level on a Big Mobs map, but I can't imagine having a character sitting at 48 after the farmer got three Vet levels. I wonder if it is part of AE experience being played with.
  21. I would add a Sent can be good for this. Hover blast and have an armor to keep you safe as well. My Fire/ea has rarely faceplanted. Since Sents have lower target caps and Beam ignores it in terms of its debuff, Beam would be good since ST damage is it's strength and it has -regen.
  22. Having three slots for Inspirs at level 2 I guess leads me to think my definition of farming at level 2 is different than others. You'll want level 3 to add a second row of Inspirs and even then farming can be tricky since you have so little room in your inventory to really convert Inspirs. I prefer a different map, but that's 100% due to PLing my own guys. I can't recall how much I had at 50 on my latest farmer, but I have a built in support system already in place and being Rad/fire meant I could push the pace to 50 faster. Even using 2x XP boosters, you will have far more than 10 million. 10 million can easily be a couple rare IO recipe drops which you craft and sell.
  23. 100 mill is incredibly low. Builds can range a lot, but I feel 500 mill is a far better target for something worthwhile. My estimate for my latest build is around that. Yes, builds can go in the 2 billion range for those who want to. The good news is if you play your 50, getting 5-10 mill in a nights session should be a cake walk, like embarrassingly easy. Builds don't really start farming at level 1. That's a bit of a mislead as you'll have no AoE. Inspir slots are really low until level 25 and capped at level 40. Scrappers also, IIRC, don't crit from their secondary so the damage aura isn't as effective on a Scrapper as it is on a Brute. There is also the question of what do you want to farm? Even getting maxed out build for Fire farming specifically is going to cost some coin. I would build for S/L farms as that can be done for far less and better translates to regular content. If you need currency, I highly recommend searching the guides and market forum for learning about using Converters to convert IOs to better ones which can be sold on the market. Doing the WST can easily get you enough Merits to buy Converters to get up on running. I put in offers for stacks of 10 recipes and anything under 2 mill profit is a waste for the eventual IO I sell. I've flipped about four different IOs for profit from various uncommons to rares and straight purples. I've lost count, but the last time I guessed my worth was around 7 billion. The bulk of that is via the market. I honestly only farm to PL my guys on another account. If I'm you, and I was, I would level the build to 50. Put in level 25 common IOs as you go. Once at 50, horde what you can until you can afford a proper build. The only place you are going with 10 mill is to the market.
  24. There's enough and certainly a high enough percentage of the player base who can rock out IO builds with Incarnates. Death post IOs and even a small about of Incarnates basically amounts to a situation your build isn't good for(debuffs), or so much damage you simply die. Dying on a team feels like a foreign idea. I wish the devs luck in finding a happy medium as some of the power balances how swung a bit on the too good side of things(Tanker buffs, EM rework).
  25. On the opposite end, I find the Scrapper ATOs, really favors sets like Claws and DB since they can dump the +50% Crit proc into such a low damaging attack.
