What are your favorite City of Heroes "Dad jokes"?
Gobbledygook replied to Robotech_Master's topic in General Discussion
I almost choked on a chicken nugget!!! -
Makes me wish bio didn't leak puss all over the place in the adaptations. This would be a great build to replace my 1st toon from Issue 1, claws/regen. Thanks for all the testing you've been doing.
-
I'm sorry, but I take issue with this. All of DM's attacks apply -tohit, as does RttC. Siphon life give Wp the one thing it doesn't have, a self heal. Yes, the regen in /WP is great, but it can, and does get overwhelmed at times. If one were to look on the old forums, there are more than a couple of guides that combined these two powersets. As far as /Wp's Tier 9 being "uber", it is far from that, which is why when you look at most builds, people don't take it.

Thank you, Sunsette. Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I appreciate your input, and will refer back to this post when working in Pines.

...and shield. Don't forget the shield.

Where would one find these?

So. not only is this my 1st Sentinel, this is my 1st non Scrapper/Brute/Tank. Since Issue 1. So I came here for some guidance. /Inv is my favorite armor set in the game, and fits the concept I have for the character. Energy blast also fits the concept. I'm pretty sure I have a good idea how to handle the secondary, even with the changes that were made to it. My question is the primary. I know nothing about the pew pew sets. I know that as a melee player, I'm not a fan of knockback, so I plan to have Sudden Acceleration kb to kd IO in my attacks. Also, what attacks are mandatory, or which are skippable? I mostly play in PuG's, TFs, occasionally solo.
-
Healix: A K-9 cop, that's awesome! Baronessa: Those were all good, but I particularly like Condor.
-
1/4 Res, 1/4 Def, and 1/2 Regen. It's a mixed bag, really. Decent exotic defenses, decent S/L resists, and one of the highest passive regen rates once you get Rise To The Challenge. They also get Quick Recovery, so end isn't as much of an issue as it is with other secondaries.
-
I just did the same thing the other day. Unfortunately, the adaptations make it look like your leaking MRSA all over the place. I couldn't deal with it. The giant spikes were no problem, but that puss was nasty. Of course, ymmv.
-
I've got it on a scrapper, and the stealth is pitiful. Might as well not even be there.
-
Fm/SD It has solid single target damage, Fire Sword Circle is a great AoE, you'd have shield charge, and could even pick up another AoE in your epic/patron pool if you choose, and of course, there's also your Judgement Incarnate. I can solo AV's and farm with my FM brute. And think about it, how many other scraps or brutes have you seen running around with FM? Definitely not FotM.
-
OMG!!! ARCANAVILLE!!!!
-
My first attempt, let me know if I did it wrong. First is Captain Prime, my Em/Wp brute. Second is Solarwave, my main, a FM/Inv Brute This is Solarwaves primary costume.
-
What melee primaries are bad at what they are trying to accomplish?
Gobbledygook replied to cprice's topic in Scrapper
Yes, it does great ST damage, in my opinion. My main is a FM/Inv brute. I use him for everything, including soloing AV's and farming. Fire melee is awesome. -

1. I generally run at +2/x8 when I'm solo, I could push it higher and survive, no problem, but my kill time slows. I feel your pain, I had a Spines/WP back on the official servers. 2. Most bosses only take 3-5 attacks. 3. AV's are done at my lvl, I don't use temp powers or insps. Just the powers I've picked. Most of the time I won't use my incarnate abilities, though some AV's force my hand. (Bastards!!) Here's a look at my build on live. I don't have the incarnates on this, because frankly, I can't remember what I have picked, and not able to get on right now. Mind having a look? 1st Opinion: Dont let an abstract performance metric in an artifical situation make you feel bad about your character. Fire Melee is a single target AND AOE Damage Machine. Invuln on a Brute is (with IOs and a plan) basically indistiguishable from Invuln on a Tank for toughness - and Invuln on a Tank is the definition of 'tough' in this game, barring a Stone. Id anticipate you can cut that time down, substantially, with a plan, incarnates, IO slotting, etc. IF thats what you want to do. If you are still seduced by the siren song of pylon numbers - Invuln on a Scrapper is going to be rather more fragile than on a brute, but probably still tough enough. If your chasing even more damage, Shield is IMHO the best set in the game. Seriously, all its lacking is self heals and a pony. If your chasing YET EVEN MORE DAMAGE THAN THAT, Bioarmor and Titan Weapons will get you there, but its a rough fit for most people - I hear a fair amount of people starting them up and then stalling out/deleting. If you want something tanky enough, with MOAR DEEPS THAN BRUTE, the all-around 'best' Scrapper, IMHO, is going to be Dark Melee/Shield. All it does is have softcapped POSITIONAL defenses, a great AOE, basically-buildup-always-on-twice, self heals, decent resists... Really, it is kinda silly. Footnote: I too have followed the 'long slow slide down the DPS road' with my Melees. Originally a tank, but when they got trashed and brutes got awesome, went brute. Now Scrappers are getting love and cool sets and somewhere along the line they got a damage buff, and Im finding I can still be 'tough enough for anything especially on teams' as a Scrapper - so its just a Tank/Brute with moar damaeg. At this rate, I may end up working my way down to Tankstalker. :) Thanks. I don't really want to reroll. I'm just going to keep my Brute, I love playing him. And I know what you mean about the slow slide to MOAR DAMAGE!! I've never been able to play a stalker, but that StJ/SR one in the pylon thread? That's a lot of dps. Make me want to try one, lol.
-
Everything said here is true! I'm working on my memorization badges on my main now so I can cheaply slot my alts.
-
I rerolled my main from before the sundown of the official live servers on here on day two of being here, a Fm/Inv. I am extremely happy with him and his performance. I've tanked the Mrs. Liberty TF, I've been hunting the AV's solo, (why are Diabolique and Dominatrix so damn hard? Marauder went down faster than a freshman cheerleader.) At least I was, until I visited the pylon thread, and tried a few runs. Over seven minutes!! So, I've decided to reroll as a Scrapper, for that extra damage. My question is, what secondary? Not sure if I want to go /Inv again, even though I have a build with 75% S/L Res, 45% S/L Def, DP Perma, and Hasten about 8 seconds from Perma. I was also thinking either /Bio for the increased damage, but I've never played one. I started one yesterday and got him up to 27. Seems to be a little more clicky than I usually like, and I hate the aesthetics, even with the minimal fx. I also have no idea how to slot /Bio. My other option is /SR. Easy to softcap, has quickness, so permahasten is easier to obtain, making optimum attack chain easier. So, opinions?
-
Yes, you remember correctly. Most folks are slotting lvl 25 generic IO's nowadays. They have almost the same effect as SO's, and while slightly more expensive at the beginning, you don't have to reslot every 5 lvls, because they never turn red. They are always the same value. You actually save a lot of Inf in the long run.
-
No, I took it once, respecced as soon as I could
-
The cow jokes are awesome! No, seriously though, this is a damn good SG. I myself run at least 1 TF a day, and eventually will even attempt to throw a bit of PvP in here and there. Great SG, would love to see it grow with like minded people. Only if I get to sing "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" when teaming with other members.
-
This!!! I have a FM/Inv (Brute) and regularly strip the aggro off of tanks, I've had to tank Lord Recluse, and I solo AV's with him. He was fun from lvl 1 all the way up to incarnate content. Even regular lvl 25 common IO's made him seem unstoppable.
-
This is what I did with my FM/Inv brute. He is above regular content softcap by just a smidge, for those times I do get nailed with a debuff or two. With the incarnate slots, he's even tougher, and has a pocket emp in the Immunes Surgeon. Maybe this will give you some ideas.
