  1. I've discovered that if you get all the prestige enhancements and slot them on your first primary (by lvl 5 you can put 5 slots into it), you basically get a sort of perma-haste (perma haten?) at entry level. Helps leveling up to 10 or 15 really quick. It was viable enough for me to hold off getting new primaries until lvl 10 or 12 when the mobs start getting a bit stronger. by then, there are enough regular enhancement drops to put into the 2nd and 3rd primaries. then at 15 or so, I just replace them with regular or even IOs if I have the salvage and recipe. Just a tip I thought might help. =)
  2. You don't have to do anything you don't want to. I'm playing on El Capitan on a mac mini beast right now primarily because it's very stable. Also because the apps I use for my work has bugs on Mojave and Sierra. I have another macbook that's on the latest just to see what the changes are. I don't think I'm missing a lot. Of course, there are some security issues that I've foregone because of not upgrading the OS, but I think it's a fair trade between keeping my paid apps (adobe CS suite) running vs a potential security threat that might never happen (knock on wood).
  3. So many friggin' awesome costumes! I love browsing this thread over and over. Is it just me, or do any of you feel really bad when doing tunnel/sewer missions. Deep inside, I can't shake the feeling that my costume will get dirty.
  4. Wow, thanks for pointing that out. I'm loving my newfound content/storylines. don't know which toon to focus on now. It's a whole new world! (come on, sing with me) =)
  5. Thanks guys. I'll study them when I grind later. =)
  6. Would anyone have any numbers on the duration of the effects? I can only guess Cryo's because of the cold aura effect. I ask because I'm trying a new tactic that hopes to maximise the swapping of ammo: Empty Clips/Hail/Rain with Cryo to slow them down Follow up with Pistols/Dual Wield with Chem weaken def Then pick them off one by one with Standard/Incendiary It works for the first few creeps that I pick off, but then I assume I have to repeat the Cryo and Chem after the first few kills. Just wanted an idea how long I have before I have to re-Cryo and re-Chem them. =)
  7. Is it just me or does swapping any ammo negate the knockback of standard ammo? I noticed that Dual Wield Executioner Shot knocks back more often on standard. Or maybe it's the enhancements I have? Side note. I tend to prefer standard ammo on most mobs primarily because of the knock back. If they're down, they can't attack me and it gives me some breathing room to wait for recharge. I tend to use cryo when creeps overwhelm me. I don't feel chem doing that much -def, since most creeps are dead in 2-4 shots with or without chem ammo.
  8. Has anyone tried the void board and have pics of it? I'm not too hot about the rocket board with the huge thrusters on the side. I was hoping for something more silver surfer. Plus, it would have been cooler if you could bank and roll on it, not just flat flying.
  9. I just discovered this myself, by accident. The Rogue Isles give you 2 more sub-choices: You can either go along with Emperor Cole which makes you a Loyalist, or against him which make you part of the Resistance. As a Loyalist, you have a sort of moral choice between using power to protect or to benefit yourself. I haven't gone that far into the storyline, so this is all I know. So now I have a four-way split between my favs: 1) A hero turned vigilante. Started out as a hero, but found too many "capes" and "tights" already have Paragon City handled. Has inner turmoil about doing good and getting things done. 2) A Rogue who's part of the Resistance. A guy who does bad to do good, very Ends justify the means. 3) A Loyalist who's a proclaimed protector of peace, and is willing to keep it at any price. He doesn't see himself as evil. On the contrary, he is probably the only force of good in an evil society. 4) A villain (Mercy Isles -- just starting out). He's a serial killer. But he believes he does what he does to punish his "victims." Sorry for digressing. Just when I thought CoH/CoV couldn't get any better, I just multiplied the fun X 4. (and don't get me started on the alts). So far, I'm enjoying the stories in the Rogue lsles more. =)
  10. Isn't it cool how the role-playing goes beyond the game. If you think about it, you have your toon (you probably have a tonne of alts, but I'm sure you have a favourite one). Now you're toon exists in the game and sooner or later you have to log out and get back to "reality" where work and responsibilities and normal civic life reside. But after work, most likely at night, you play maybe a few hours at a time as your hero. Aren't you like Bruce Wayne during the day, trying to fit in, work, bring home the bacon. But at night, you go off and patrol the city for crime or go off to missions or supergroups. Then before the night ends, you go back home (log out) so you can get ready for the coming day of normal work and responsibilities. =)
  11. I hear ya. Sentinels are my favourite AT. I've been reading about how they're underpowered being a cross between a tank and blaster/scrapper/brute. But I personally like how well rounded they are--and honestly how underpowered they are. I'm not the kind of guy that goes for the strongest build. Quite the opposite. I really enjoy the handicap. I suppose it goes with the story or immersive part of being a hero. I tried playing around with other ATs, and found it a little too hard to suspend my disbelief. Yes, they have powers, some godlike powers, but I feel they're powers define them more than the person they are (Ironman man vs suit). Some of the toons I tried were fun (or funny), but they felt like they were trying too hard to be a hero for the sake of the cape. Sentinels feel real to me and much more believable. (I suppose this is incredibly subjective to my personal game play style, though). It reminds of the Saitama's conversation with King. Being a hero isn't about being the strongest or getting satisfaction out of fighting, it's about one's unwavering ideals of justice, fighting to save others, and most of all having the courage to do what must be done (even when you're out of your league). ATM, I'm having a blast switching between two toons: a DP/WP (who's basically a guy with a gun trying to play vigilante in a world of super-powered folks) and a Archer/Bio (a mutation with hard skin and a bow and arrow -- reminds of Hawkeye in Age of Ultron). They're both too weak to take on mobs at any given time, and they both don't have enough damage to single shot an enemy, let alone a boss. Both of them are pretty much outclassed everywhere they turn, but that's the part I like. You're a hero, you find ways around your weakness or inadequacies to save the day.
  12. Not a man of numbers much, so I don't really pay attention to stats as long as I can kill and I don't die. I've been trying out staff brute and the animation is awesome! There's a power (3rd primary, I think) that you spin the staff in front of you to give multiple minor damage + def against lethal and range (or something). If you time it right, you're spinning the staff in front of you while the other guy is emptying his clips and it looks fantastic.
  13. Yes. when you click on the change costume, you'll be back to the creation screen but with only 2-3 tabs available. You can change your look in the costume tab, then the power colours in the next (and if you have pool powers, that tab will be available for editing as well). You can only change colours and maybe minimal fx for powers, you can't change your power set.
  14. Naming my characters is one of the hardest part, but one that I can go back to later. I usually have a concept, a back story, and a costume in mind, and hopefully a name that hasn't been taken. For me, the playability of a toon is the combination of its power set, costume design and name. If one of those things is off, I just delete and start over. I usually start off with some pretentious emo name like Destroyer of Worlds type or the typical color + talent or noun. But later I change them to names that make me smile and say "yup, today's a good day to be a hero" =). Funny enough, I have a character with a power set and costume that I really liked. But I just couldn't think of a worthy name. So I named it Six-Six (because it was the 66th alt I was working on). Somehow, the name grew on me and he's my favourite toon to date.
  15. No powers, just mode of travel. I think a huge chunk of the game is designing your toons. I've spent hours on end designing costumes. I wouldn't mind thinking up some rides like need for speed car dress up. I came up with the thought because I found it funny that our superheroes get around the cities using trains. And EggKookoo, I suppose that would suck. The devs would have to utilise the parking lot in front of Ms Liberty. You'd have to put in extra effort to look for parking space like in real life =).
  16. I know the Ninja Run and Flight is way cool, but wouldn't it be awesome if there were motorcycles or super-mobiles? They don't have to be powered, just flashy. =) I have a dual pistol biker who could really use a bike, and I'm sure there are a lot out there who wouldn't mind their version of the 60's top-down batmobile. Supergroups can have an Owl ship (Watchmen) or a justice league javelin.
