I like fancy animations. So my favourites are Dual Pistols and Staff (with Energy Blast as a far third... because Knockback) for primaries. Secondaries, anything that will keep me alive long enough to enjoy the animations is good to go. I especially like Willpower and, surprisingly, Dark Armour on Sentinels. Trying out Super Reflexes at the moment, seems promising. I tried Ninjitsu and Ninja Training, which work very well with the Ninja Run from P2W lady, but found myself faceplanting too much. I guess I am partial to flying (and Hover gives a slottable defence).

No matter what anyone tells you here, what arithmetic or programming proof they may have, THE WIFE IS ALWAYS RIGHT! Go now and apologise... for anything... for everything... for existing. Enjoy the game. ๐

It's probably from the Frank & Stein corp. I heard they had a bit of success in both thunderstorms and biological fields.

I'm fairly new to the game. Fell in love with sentinels because of my play style. I solo a lot, early game I do guerrilla warfare: shoot and run away to lead them away to where I can handle them, repeat until it whittles down the mob. mid game, if you pay attention to your defences and resistance (as well as HP, regen, end and recovery), the sentinel pretty much holds his own. Yes they don't do much damage, but they can take a beating to keep on dealing damage. I think this goes for any primary you pick. Some secondaries are either toggle/click-management intensive or not as beefy as others within the sentinel AT. In fact in most of my sents, I don't even have to max out def and res or even slots, allowing me to max out slots on attacks, which sents desperately needs. at level 20-30, I can confidently go +1/+2 or even +2/+4. Late game and 50+, Sentinels are just beasts that can just stand there and take it. This is the fun part: run in - nuke - (skip running out) and just clean up whoever's left standing. Sometimes I even run around collecting two or three mobs to congregate around me before I nuke them twice or thrice with primary, Epic, and incarnate pbaoe's. One time, I went AFK, and a small mob ambushed me. I don't know how long they've been whacking at me, but they weren't making a dent. Sentinels are fun.

I think it's a bug. It's the same with Ninja Epic power pool. No swords/katana. From what I gather, it hasn't been resolved yet. And since the priority of the devs is getting the 64-bit stabilised for everyone, I suspect this is fairly low on the priority list. I'm sure they'll get to it sooner or later.

My favourite so far is Dual Pistols. Yes, I'm quite familiar with the popular comparison with Blasters and Corruptors version of DP. And it hasn't stopped me. I've tried pistols with Will power and it is a beast, especially with incarnates. I'm playing a couple of alts with pistols and Dark, which also seems promising enough to rival willpower; plus it opens a whole new avenue of thematic concepts. Just rolled a Super Reflexes one that's too low a level to tell, barely past the teens. I also experimented with Ninjitsu. Didn't like it very much, although I though DP would have synergised very well with it, especially with the Ninja themed Epic pool. For one thing, the animation was broken with the epic pool -- no katana. Turned around and tried a Blaster DP/Ninja Training. Found it too squishy and too many attacks for my feeble brain to manage. My second favourite is the Energy Blast/Rad which I rolled out primarily after reading Sunsette's post about it. I agree that it won't be competing for the best farmer with Spines/Fire, but it sure as hell is a tonne of fun to play. Knockback, knockback and more knockback. I keep this alt as my casual gaming toon. I've pretty much tried most of the others, but not to any great extent, at least not enough to judge them. But I will say that my least favourite is Sonic for the audio effects, Bio for the visual effects, and Beam rifle because it just feels slow. You'll notice a trend that I prioritise aesthetics over stats. Oh, and I mostly solo.

DP/WP Sentinel Alpha: Musculature Core Judgement: Mighty Core Interface: Paralytic T1/Diamagnetic Radial Lore: Vanguard T1 Destiny: Rebirth T1 Hybrid: Support Genome T1 Still kinda feeling my way through the incarnate system being fresh off my first level 50. My choices are made either thematically or regretfully. I would've liked to test drive most of the choices they offered, but incarnate salvage seems too limited to do so.

I think this is the way to go, sharing of builds which may or may not be the best, rather than a general guide for all. This also supports the MMO principle of playing nice with others. ๐
-
I don't think a single guide exists. Several factors go into a build, the most obvious one being your AT, and the biggest one being play style. You might be able to find "sample" builds from the AT-specific forums since they've narrowed down the topic to a point where you're all talking about the same power modifier. You'll see a lot of claims that theirs is the best build, but again, the best build is the one that works for you and your particular game play. I also don't believe in Mids or Pines (primarily because I don't have access to it). From my limited experience, I build per level range: my 1-20 is different from my 20-30, and so on. The builds are dictated by available slots, limited powers, low stats, and slottable IOs- I don't even slot anything in before 27 or so. And now I'm still figuring out the incarnate stuff now. I usually hit the AT specific forums for questions or a peek at what other people are doing with their builds to see if mine can be improved. Some that I see I don't agree with, others are like a "dang, why didn't I think of that" or "I didn't know I could do that." The experimentation may be costly in terms of investing in IOs only to switch them out later, but I think it's part of the fun.

I hope this isn't so. My workhorse is intentionally on 10.11.xx for work because my apps don't work so well on the newer OS. I have a newer macbook, but I don't enjoy playing on a laptop. =( So far, I can still run the Safe Mode after all the updates. Waiting for a more stable and hopefully one-click installation from Manga in the coming days.

Hi guys. Came here from the discord #new-client-issues and things seem to be escalating there, too much for my mild mannered self. So. I ran Island Rum. It downloaded the new stuff until the green tick mark appeared. Got the new choices on the splash screen (Homecoming 64-bit and HC beta 64-bit are greyed out). Clicked Homecoming (topmost choice) - opens a wineskin pop up that says I need to install additional software - same deal when I click the CoH app icon from launcher - I have no idea what to do or how to do it. I have no technological savviness whatsoever. Clicked Homecoming Safe Mode Game runs fine. Do I need to be running Homecoming or Homecoming 64-bit? Or can I stay in blissful ignorance in Safe Mode? I play the game on an old 2011 Mac Mini running El Capitan (long story, don't ask).

How are they? Are they as bad-ass as publicised? I went with Vanguard and they're squishy, but goes well with my outfit. ๐

I suppose it caters to the Alt-oholism. When I respec to replace early level IOs, I keep them for my alts for their early levels. Emails and AH storage can hold quite a few. I'd rather not most of them since I'll end up buying the same ones again anyway. So now I have a handful of IOs you can slot at lvl 7, 17, 27 etc. that just end up changing hands between my alts, especially the most commonly used ones. Also, I don't know how it was back in Live, but the AH is quite fickle now. A particular IO will fetch a different price from the store as it will from the AH -- and it can be a difference of 1 mil in the AH depending on the time and day. So if it's automatically sold from a respec, then you won't be getting the max inf you can possibly get.

Picked this up from somewhere in the forums or discord. Nice slightly updated guide as opposed to the wiki: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tmuk9Jf-NxhSE2P1RB6wRtn-qUDvwqpV_10B9QAAinE/edit#gid=0 Although personally, I tend to go thematic with my lore pets and forego the most DPS or buffs. I don't like demons (even though I think Banished Pantheon brings the most destruction) and such because my toon is just a regular guy with a gun -- I didn't even pick Epic Power Pools for him. Besides, I don't really depend on them. they're just there for flavour. ๐

thanks for this. now I can go take out them Malta Sappers first, and not worry about having no End. ๐ And yes, it does help with the hunting/non-door missions

Since this thread has helped me so much, I thought I'd give a tip I picked up to help other people along. If you want to go it solo and feel that you're a bit squishy especially with the likes of Black Scorpion, Requiem, etc. towards the end of missions, you can bring an extra ally: Do a Recluse's Victory from Atlas City Hall (SERAPH?). There's virtually no one ever there. Go pick up a Longbow Heavy, destroy turrets and claim pillboxes. Once you "win" the round, you get a Longbow Heavy as a temp power (1 use for 5 mins.). Comes in handy for the hardier bosses. ๐ Then again, as you make more and more runs towards the incarnate stuff, you'll end up not needing the Heavy after a while. I have one Longbow Heavy and Vanguard Heavy in my back pocket just in case. ๐

This right here is why you rock, Mr. Oldskool sir.

Sometimes it takes a while for me, others not so much. I've noticed such: It's not your internet connection. I had trouble with mine and had to resort to a pocket wifi gizmo. Same slow load as now that my ethernet is plugged back in. It's not your computer or OS. I play on a Mac (El Capitan and Sierra) and the stuff you people are describing on Windows is happening to me. It's not the server load/population. I play in the oddest hours on the EU server which never reaches the 3 red dots full. I've played when the other servers were red, and I've played when the other servers only had 2 yellow capacity with EU having only one green. Still the same. I have (left/right) clicked on the character screen while it's loading and it does say I'm being queued. So I think it's a server issue. I'm sure the good peeps and GMs are aware of this.

Good call. I didn't even think of it that way. ๐ Thanks. Next few, though, I'll think more before I craft.

Another noobish question: Is there a way to "recycle" a power? For example, I went with say Paralytic for Interface, but decided later that Diamagnetic would be better. Is there a way to change them or at least not have the first one go totally to waste?
-
Wow, what a wealth of information. Thank you. this was exactly what I was looking for to wrap my head around the incarnate system. Noob query: Does the Destiny slot/power only affect the team mates (like the defender heal others but not self)? or does it apply to you the caster, too?

Don't slot Celerity + Stealth on Summon Wolves
Six-Six replied to SmalltalkJava's topic in Mastermind
I've slotted my celerity +stealth into my sprint. So when I need stealth, I just toggle on sprint. I have noticed that the 120 seconds isn't strict in my case. Sometimes it's on all day long. Either that or the mobs just don't mind me anyway because of their low perception. -
I'm a graphic designer who works from home, so the time I spend waiting for emails to arrive just got more fun. ๐
