That was on my list of obvious quotes about lists that I just knew were going to be listed. I've checked it off the list.

Interface (Incarnate Power) vagaries
Techwright replied to Scarlet Shocker's topic in General Discussion
As one who normally does not do number crunching, (I tend to be fine with "low, medium, high, superior, phenomenal cosmic power") I'm pleased to see this, though it does bring back an old question long bugging me: Why are the DoT's not all equal in dps? I've a hypothesis regarding psionic being less, but its just a hypothesis, and I'm not clear at all on toxic being set less than energy and negative. Why not set them all to the same level and let the player simply choose the flavor? -
Are you excited about the future of the MCU?
Techwright replied to DougGraves's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Unfortunately, I just saw this, too late to make the wishlist. If I had... Star Wars: Yoda miniseries- Before he was the wise master. The story of the smallest padawan becoming the smallest Jedi during the High Republic era. Muppets: Pigs In Space: the Series Marvel: Squirrel Girl miniseries for some laughs. MCU 2099 for some gritty storytelling based off the various 2099 comics. Disney: an all-new Oswald the Lucky Rabbit animated series with an updated look to Oswald more in keeping with the other classic Disney characters. Disney: A Rocketeer miniseries, sequel to the classic movie. And the "one more thing".... Lucasfilms: A reboot/continuation to the Young Indiana Jones TV series, using the writers/directors/production quality of The Mandalorian, and with Harrison Ford as the ninety-year-old Indy. (If you've never seen the series. Lucas had Indy surviving into his nineties, and the elderly Indy was the storyteller for the series.) It'd give Ford the chance to play the character again, which he wanted, without the physicality that he said left him aching after the last movie. -
Cool name and concept.

That's okay, Brain. We'll always have Paris. Narf!

I've heard Waititi will be back acting in The Mandalorian again. If true, I would assume this means he's voicing another IG-11 hunter droid.

What interchange was that? I live in Indy in the last half of the 1990s. Loved the city, highly underrated. And interestingly, I remember a truck plowing into and damaging a I-465 bridge on the northwest side not far from the "Pyramids".

Lifestyles of the Rich and (In)Famous - what would you do?
Techwright replied to ThaOGDreamWeaver's topic in Off-Topic
Not sure exactly what I'd do, but as one who loves kids, always wanted kids, but will probably never have them, I'd probably find some way to put the rest of my days, and my new-found fortune into an orphanage somewhere, likely adopting several of the orphans, and serving as one of the mentors and patrons to the rest. I can think of no finer end to my life than pouring love onto children who need it, and raising a wise and respectable generation, even if I'm too old to play football with them. That, to me, is heroic. -
Kyksie has the right of it. That said, the idea of a Mastermind manipulating others to his bidding is the Doctor at his darkest, So ThaOGDreamWeaver has a point. I created an homage character that is a time\gravity controller (gravity standing in for "space"), but perhaps a Sonic\Time Corrupter would be more appropriate. That said, the Doctor has exhibited some psychic abilities, and is great with robots, so there's some flexibility in choices.

I'm intrigued, but I feel the fans would go into full riot mode if it played out that way. People are far too connected to the character to have the story play out otherwise, and Disney is still skating on very thin ice with the fans after the Sequel Trilogy. What I'm curious about is whether Dave Filoni is heavily involved in this, or too tied up with other projects. He helmed Clone Wars which had several Boba stories showing a young Boba as walking a mental/emotional tightrope of sorts between being good and being bad. I'd be interested to see if he's tapping that history to create the older character. While the trailer didn't show much, it did show a great many aliens, including some never seen before in canon (notably the cyber-spider). I think that's the take away, that the show is going to be rich in alien life, not just a bunch of humans with a smattering of aliens. And yes, I'd like to see one of the clone troopers as well. Rex is now canon for having fought on the moon of Endor. It's possible he may still be around 9 years later. Wolf possibly as well. You do realize that Cobb Vanth is still around, still a lawman, and may therefore show up at some point in the BoBF?

Techwright replied to DougGraves's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Have absolutely no interest in seeing Eternals other than to keep MCU continuity across any grand arcs. My new work team are total geeks (they put me to shame) and none of them are interested in the movie either. I think Greycat summed it up when saying "meh". I'll likely watch it when it hits Disney+, just like I'm going to do this weekend with Shang Chi, for which I'm far more excited. -
Turn the keyboard over and beat the crumb out of it.

It takes a bit of practice to get it down right, but Martial Arts with Ninja Run active: 1. run at a large crowd 2. without slowing down, do a low somersault over their heads. Land tight against the far side of the crowd. 3. Dragon's Tail 4. Storm Kick 5. Eagle's Claw Poetry in motion.

I'm a tad confused. Are they saying that, within the TOY STORY universe, the toy Buzz Lightyear was inspired by a "real" astronaut? Or are they saying that the toy Buzz was inspired by a popular Buck Rogers-like movie/cartoon character like we were led to believe in the first three TS movies? 'Cause that's quite a retcon if we've never heard of this "real" astronaut before now. (Okay, qualification: I've never seen TS4, so apologies if it was all explained there.) Either way, as a big fan of 1930s -1950s serial Sci-Fi, this looks very interesting.

Something Completely Pointless: Enhancements in the Real World

I'm so confused. It says "single origin" but it appears to be an invented set. It's black, so I'm guessing a taunting set? I sure feel compelled to attack it! -
Yep. Tracksuit Mafia. Should be fun!

What is your favorite villain personality?
Techwright replied to The_Warpact's topic in General Discussion
Insane and other mentally-compromised villains only mildly interest me. Comedy villains only mildly interest me unless you're speaking of actor Stanley Tucci's hilariously slap-stick "Muerte" in the movie Undercover Blues. Then you have my full attention. Mustache-twirling villains are too one-dimensional for my tastes. I like the villains who are very smart, incredibly cool under pressure, and who are so close in ideology to "normal" that you'd actually be persuaded to befriend them if it weren't for some extreme action they insist upon taking, even if they have something of a point. I think that is why Magneto in X-Men: First Class, for example, was so interesting. He could have been a best friend, strong ally, and noble leader if it wasn't for his drive for extreme violence against those he considers has wrong him and his. (Magneto in X3 by comparison was sorely lacking in the ability to encourage sympathy.) -

But is using Trout Melee as sustainable practice, or will we be depleting the rivers, and depriving fly fishers? At least with Asian Carp Melee we have the satisfaction of removing some of an invasive species from our rivers. -
The Time Variance Authority snags many PsychoChronoMetrons in the course of their duties. So many in fact, that the staff have taken to helping themselves to a few for their own curiosities collections...or more likely just to use as a door jam. Clearly someone was using the one on the helicopter as a paperweight to keep papers from blowing around.

I was mulling over IO slotting arrangements on Corrosive Vial this evening when I realized I have never really considered which is more effective against an enemy: a second damage IO or a defense debuff IO. And does it depend on the power they're slotted to? Let's give an example: Corrosive Vial, simplified to two slots. Let's use level 50 IOs for simplicity, and assume the first slot has a damage IO. Would my attack be more effective by slotting a second damage IO, or would using that second slot for a defense debuff improve the effectiveness of the current damage enough to prefer it over the damage IO? Or would it break even? Or would the result vary if another power were receiving the two IO spaces? Mids reborn can tell me the % value for damage and defense debuff, but I'm not sure that show effectiveness in action, how much damage ultimately gets through. Hope I'm explaining clearly what I seek.

I've still not seen Shang-Chi though I look forward to it. I was puzzled, after Disney put several other movies in Disney + at premium prices, to find it was not doing the same. I haven't bought into that concept yet, but Shang-Chi probably would have been the first one. And the way they're pushing things back, Michael Douglas is going to be in a nursing home before a fourth Ant Man film gets started. (Assuming Hank lives through Quantumania). -

Just so long as the page comes with a new Time Melee set. I need me a Time/Stone brute! -
"Humor and camp"? You're gonna love Shazam. I'm intrigued with the casting of Pierce Brosnan (the hair looks pretty spectacular, too). I, too, am curious about the tie in. We know Shazam was largely light-hearted fun. And it looks like they're pitching that Black Adam will be the polar opposite. So how do you push these two together without destroying one or the other? Someone got a "your chocolate in my peanut butter" solution?
