I'd add one other: comic speedsters vibrate through solid objects. It would take a massive amount of reprogramming, I'd guess, but having the ability to speed in blue caves without banging into every outcropping because I can vibrate through walls would be greatly desired. SS wall smashing is one of the main reasons I only have SS on a single character.

What Character Concept Could You NOT Get to Work?
Techwright replied to Lunglescrops's topic in General Discussion
Joker is known for his use of blades, and while we don't have a switchblade concept in game, perhaps a Dual Blade concept will work, especially if setting the weapons to some of the smaller blades like perhaps the tanto, or the faer dagger. Maybe even an occasional costume switchup to something a bit bigger, like machete. Joker also has a high willpower which sometimes plays out as a high pain tolerance, so if you're going for a Joker homage, might I suggest a Dual Blades/Willpower Stalker? -

That's an amazing name/concept. I'd have loved to have seen it. -
What Character Concept Could You NOT Get to Work?

For me, its just a matter of thinking of the masterminds as interpretations of the "villain of the week" on the old 1966 Batman campy TV show. The main villain does not fight, save for the odd punch or chair throw. He/she is much more inclined to yell "Get 'em boys" and let the goons do the first while the boss moves back to an observation point. I've had a few concept failures, and I think they all come down to a lack of key costume elements. Two examples: The first character I ever had (and the first failure) was to have been an ice tanker with a polar bear theme, but the game just lacked too much at the start, and the result was just weird. I also have a long-tabled Theodore Roosevelt Rough Rider-ish character, but I had to make too many compromises in costuming to shoehorn in the character as a dual gun wielder, and parts of the character look off. (The face hits the mark, though) -
Actually that's a surprise to me. A bit of spoilery talk:

Oh, Doctor! Make it stop hurting!
Techwright replied to DoctorDitko's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Frankly, I'm in the middle of a Snap. For me, the era of the 13th Doctor doesn't exist, precisely because I'd heard all the comments and decided that if I had to end my viewing with the magnificent Twelfth Doctor, I could live with that. So I pulled out my golden, gem-encrusted gauntlet and dusted a few years. It made it easier when I found out just how trashily they retconned the First Doctor in Peter's last outing. Nothing against David, he did the best he could with the rubbish the gave him. -
...and once again, I'm totally mystified as to how that Paramount-CBS Star Trek relationship works. Last I'd been told, they'd decided that CBS would have rights to the TV shows and Paramount to the movies, hence why Paramount created the alternate Trek universe, to play in it free of CBS, and hence why CBS put Discovery on its paid channel. Apparently that was never accurate or is no longer the case. As to paid services, I'm really kind of baffled why we've not seen these sort out into more of a cable package service. That's pretty much what happened in the early days of cable, I gather. It only makes sense (to me anyway) that having umpteen individual services out there will mean that some will get left out, or will have to endure a monthly "bounce" as people like me on a budget choose to watch a different service each month remaining in a perpetual state of binge watching to get caught up with what we missed the pass few unpaid months. I'm currently utilizing the Disney-Hulu-ESPN arrangement as it sort of resembles a cable package, and have been with it longer than I was with solo paid channels.

QFT. I'd watch an hour of lion-dogs playing field goal kickers. The movie had a lot of tropes and a lot of homages, but I enjoyed it. Tony Leung was wonderful. I was truly surprised that I wasn't repulsed by the character of Katy the Comic Relief. There's one thought that upon seeing the movie, I immediately gravitated to. Curiously, I've so far no found anyone else commenting on it:

Something Completely Pointless: Enhancements in the Real World
Techwright replied to RikOz's topic in General Discussion
I see the P2W has set up shop turning off XP. 😉 Actually, once you've accepted the parallel, you can't help noticing things like Pet supplies and stores for the ice-powered types. Care to take bets on how long it will be before someone grabs the name "Laser Bounce"? -
I spoke it with a head cold. 🤧 Hmm...are they sure it isn't translated "dreadful desperation"?

There's one other name not yet shown... -
I for one welcome our cheese-rewarding overlords. Got any Jarlesburg?

That was on my list of obvious quotes about lists that I just knew were going to be listed. I've checked it off the list.

Interface (Incarnate Power) vagaries
Techwright replied to Scarlet Shocker's topic in General Discussion
As one who normally does not do number crunching, (I tend to be fine with "low, medium, high, superior, phenomenal cosmic power") I'm pleased to see this, though it does bring back an old question long bugging me: Why are the DoT's not all equal in dps? I've a hypothesis regarding psionic being less, but its just a hypothesis, and I'm not clear at all on toxic being set less than energy and negative. Why not set them all to the same level and let the player simply choose the flavor? -

Unfortunately, I just saw this, too late to make the wishlist. If I had... Star Wars: Yoda miniseries- Before he was the wise master. The story of the smallest padawan becoming the smallest Jedi during the High Republic era. Muppets: Pigs In Space: the Series Marvel: Squirrel Girl miniseries for some laughs. MCU 2099 for some gritty storytelling based off the various 2099 comics. Disney: an all-new Oswald the Lucky Rabbit animated series with an updated look to Oswald more in keeping with the other classic Disney characters. Disney: A Rocketeer miniseries, sequel to the classic movie. And the "one more thing".... Lucasfilms: A reboot/continuation to the Young Indiana Jones TV series, using the writers/directors/production quality of The Mandalorian, and with Harrison Ford as the ninety-year-old Indy. (If you've never seen the series. Lucas had Indy surviving into his nineties, and the elderly Indy was the storyteller for the series.) It'd give Ford the chance to play the character again, which he wanted, without the physicality that he said left him aching after the last movie. -
Cool name and concept.

That's okay, Brain. We'll always have Paris. Narf!
-
I've heard Waititi will be back acting in The Mandalorian again. If true, I would assume this means he's voicing another IG-11 hunter droid.
-
What interchange was that? I live in Indy in the last half of the 1990s. Loved the city, highly underrated. And interestingly, I remember a truck plowing into and damaging a I-465 bridge on the northwest side not far from the "Pyramids".

Lifestyles of the Rich and (In)Famous - what would you do?
Techwright replied to ThaOGDreamWeaver's topic in Off-Topic
Not sure exactly what I'd do, but as one who loves kids, always wanted kids, but will probably never have them, I'd probably find some way to put the rest of my days, and my new-found fortune into an orphanage somewhere, likely adopting several of the orphans, and serving as one of the mentors and patrons to the rest. I can think of no finer end to my life than pouring love onto children who need it, and raising a wise and respectable generation, even if I'm too old to play football with them. That, to me, is heroic. -
Kyksie has the right of it. That said, the idea of a Mastermind manipulating others to his bidding is the Doctor at his darkest, So ThaOGDreamWeaver has a point. I created an homage character that is a time\gravity controller (gravity standing in for "space"), but perhaps a Sonic\Time Corrupter would be more appropriate. That said, the Doctor has exhibited some psychic abilities, and is great with robots, so there's some flexibility in choices.

I'm intrigued, but I feel the fans would go into full riot mode if it played out that way. People are far too connected to the character to have the story play out otherwise, and Disney is still skating on very thin ice with the fans after the Sequel Trilogy. What I'm curious about is whether Dave Filoni is heavily involved in this, or too tied up with other projects. He helmed Clone Wars which had several Boba stories showing a young Boba as walking a mental/emotional tightrope of sorts between being good and being bad. I'd be interested to see if he's tapping that history to create the older character. While the trailer didn't show much, it did show a great many aliens, including some never seen before in canon (notably the cyber-spider). I think that's the take away, that the show is going to be rich in alien life, not just a bunch of humans with a smattering of aliens. And yes, I'd like to see one of the clone troopers as well. Rex is now canon for having fought on the moon of Endor. It's possible he may still be around 9 years later. Wolf possibly as well. You do realize that Cobb Vanth is still around, still a lawman, and may therefore show up at some point in the BoBF?

Techwright replied to DougGraves's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Have absolutely no interest in seeing Eternals other than to keep MCU continuity across any grand arcs. My new work team are total geeks (they put me to shame) and none of them are interested in the movie either. I think Greycat summed it up when saying "meh". I'll likely watch it when it hits Disney+, just like I'm going to do this weekend with Shang Chi, for which I'm far more excited.
