I would simply add to this that I just hit 50 on an energy/energy Sentinel and he proved good in both solo and team environments. Not that I'd do a Leroy Jenkins with him, but he was solid. If I'd chosen energy/invulnerable, I might have considered some additional aggression when running solo. I also previous took a water/willpower Sentinel to 50, and he's a heap of a lot of fun. My only drawback with him is that I had endurance issues in his rise through the ranks. I patched that by doubling up on endurance reduction in some of the willpower powers. Again, invulnerable may have been the easier, effective choice.

That Moment of Realization . . . (Games as Art)

We've given you a full year to correct your mistake. Have you played Myst yet? 😉 -

First you trash them for the cliche, now you trash them for the originality. 😉 -

There comes a point though (perhaps "trap" is a better word) where the fandom embraces the cliche and are disappointed if the cliches are not used. Just ask Ryan of YouTube's "Pitch Meeting" fame or just watch any Star Wars work. Sooner or later "I have a bad feeling about this" pops up. Oh, and for a change up, how about "giant energy beams from the sky"? Galactus is coming... -
Did somebody mention "raining zombies"? MCU spoiler alert

Someplace I wish I could ask the devs about

I remember doing that way back in summer 2019, but...I could have sworn there were NPC people inside. Maybe supers? I don't recall specifics, just an impression. -
While I'm in favor of minimal effects (I'm glaring at you, bowl of the Mothership Raid), I regret to suggest human nature may be against you, anyway, even if the minimal effects were granted. All I have to do is look at team ice shields, which have minimal effects, but most of the ice wielders I've worked with still hit you with that clunky massive iceberg look.

The Halloween Banners event: Just out of curiosity, how do our colorblind players adapt to this? 4 colors, randomly place on the map, and folks shouting out in chat the destinations based on color. I've heard that elsewhere different shade/grayscale is sometimes used, but these four colors appear the same shade, and there's no prominent background patterns like stripes or dots. Of course, we'd probably not think to be yelling out "green polkadot" either.

I'm really hoping the opening of the multi-verse allows for another T'Challa to cross universes and plant himself firmly in the MCUniverse, maybe not as king, but as a Black Panther. Then we'd have both Shuri Panther and a T'Challa Panther. (They really need to bring in Hunter, the original White Wolf as well.) -
Useful because there's not much else left of you when they wire you into a spider. How does a cyber-spider sit in a dentist's chair anyway? 🤔

Excellent summation! Thank you very much!

I'D love a Captain Carter movie! Peggy has always been one of my favorite MCU characters, and the What If...? appearance strikes the right balance of brains, beauty, brawn, humor, and empathy. I'm guessing the question would be if Chris Evans would want back in, especially as it would likely be a depowered Steve Rogers he'd be portraying. I understand it was a painstaking process to bring that version of the character to the screen in "The First Avenger". Regarding T'Challa, I respect their decision as creators to retire the character, but I believe this is a mistake. While I understand the gesture is an homage to Chad, a character should transcend his/her actors. Where would Sherlock Holmes be if the character was retired with the very popular Basil Rathbone? We'd have lost dynamic performances and interesting interpretations by Christopher Plummer, Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Jeremy Brett, Ian McKellan, Johnny Lee Miller, and MCU alumni Robert Downy, Jr. and Benedict Cumberbatch. I've not exhausted the list, either. We've had at least two major recastings in the MCU so far (Hulk/Banner, War Machine/Rhodey), I believe the character of T'Challa could have been a third, and still have been tastefully and respectfully done. -
Do I look like I'm working a commune, comrade? 😛

organization and efficiency appeal to my darker side, so maybe: Malta - though the chance to end up as the central nervous system of a robot doesn't have a lot of appeal. Gunslinger sounds pretty good, though. Sky Raiders - if it weren't for that popinjay with captain's bars, they could be a serious threat. Duray may be paranoid crazy, but he does inspire loyalty and efficiency. Gold Brickers

I may understand a bit better now. Playing a character for which you literally only use 2 buttons, one control, one attack, might be exciting briefly, but monotony would kick in pretty quickly.

Marvel's "What If?" series
Techwright replied to Glacier Peak's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
SEASON FINALE: Episode 9 NOTE: If you've not seen it yet, there is a tag scene in this one, the only one in the season. Just watched this, and found it a heap o' fun. I should have made popcorn. I'm sure I could get nitpicky on some details, but I would only point out two. First, if you've been reading the background of the series, you'll know there was to have been a 10th episode, but it is delayed until season 2. I wish this sequence of events had not happened, because a lot from that episode affects the season finale. The finale is still quite watchable, however, and there's nothing one cannot come up to speed on quickly. To see details of what I understand that missing episode to be see here below. Note that there are significant spoilers for the season finale in the description: The second detail I wish to point out is: -
Anything in particular that you've seen that glaringly needs updating?
-
Hmm, I suppose I could see that, but that affected all tanks. I gathered from what he was saying it was specific to fire tanks. I had a fire tank back then, but he was a third-stringer, and I'd not have noticed anything major specific to the breed. I did notice the "dumpster-herding" nerf on my other tanks.
-
I'll not be using it, but I'd very much like to one day see this one running around Paragon City in a duo with an owl-theme character called Hootie. 😉
-
I was introduced yesterday to a gentleman with whom I will possibly work going forward and was delighted to learn he's an old school City of Heroes player. He played until "they nerfed the fire tanks". We didn't have time to talk of it more, but I'm curious what major nerfing of fire tanks occurred. I'm assuming major, as it drove him from the game. And if the community can pin down what it was, has it been altered since, possibly in Homecoming?

Are Porters in Sky Raiders interesting or just half baked?
Techwright replied to DougGraves's topic in General Discussion
At least its not the original years when there could be a room full of Sorcs. I still shutter remembering the big room a PUG I was on stumbled into with Sorcs everywhere. Took us less-experienced players hours to clear that mess. Quants were pretty nasty back then, too. Now, its more like "who just turned a tanning lamp on me?" -

Yes, some of us are unfortunately effected by the eternal night, even a virtual kind. Kind of like anti-vampires I guess.

I don't like them or hate them. The ones that figure out they should be porting behind the hero lines harrying any who are trying to heal: those have a modicum of my grudging respect.
