  1. Classy, classic, nigh immortal...but not "very old", please. Those are immediate turn-off words, and someone might tune out the rest of your accurate message. At least use "gracefully aged" or "aged like fine wine". 😁 It's like Death By Chocolate, soaked in the finest espresso liquor...and wrapped in the highest-quality bacon. Well, actually...it's better.
  2. Rebuilt my rig last week and can finally play No Man's Sky. Tips from other players appreciated. Might even be open to teaming when I feel experienced enough. COH has the best community, so if some of them straddle time with NMS, those are the folks I want to team with. I also snagged a fun little gem called Founder's Fortune. I've had to pause it while learning NMS, and still playing CoH, but I've had some good times in Founder's Fortune.
  3. Wait, what? He was top dog at another of my favorite MMOs, Tabula Rasa (also an NCSoft product), at least until the whole blow-up of the revelation that he pushed the game for release before it was fully ready, just to get the money to go to space. Sad day, that. Had they hung in there for about another 6 months of alpha and beta, that game would probably still be going like LotRO is.
  4. windows 10 32-bit or 64-bit? If it's fairly new, it's probably 64-bit, but I still see 32-bit hanging around, so it doesn't hurt to check.
  5. Certainly at least pull out the duplicate instances, and retune the dialog to smooth over the vacancy. Of if it must stay in, at least put in new layouts for those duplications to keep things at least appearing fresh. Some of the Council ones even have a statement upon entering, saying the Council has set up an exact duplicate of the previous base. 🙄
  6. I use the Force of Will set often. In fact, for my jump-themed characters, I only have the original jump set on a character who showed signs of needing a defense power from the pool (combat jumping). Force of Will has Stomp, which I use all the time. For my tanks and brutes, it gives another knockdown AoE. For my ranged squishies, it gives a good chance to shake those melee antagonists who slipped past the melee line to duke it out with the back row. FoW also has two ranged attacks, both with psionics as part of the deal, and one is a conical attack. All told that's perfect for giving my tanks a bit of range striking when the team's rangers aren't picking off the sniper out of the tank's melee range. And yeah, for my ranged types, the two ranged attacks are not as powerful as their native stuff, but it's still two more, and with psionics. Finally, FoW has Unleashed Potential, useful for just about every character I have.
  7. Two words: Dave Filoni. If you want two more: Jon Favreau. The movies didn't have them, the TV/internet series does. There's been libraries-worth written about what went wrong with the sequel trilogy, and though I agree with many of the more brutal comments, I'll take the high road and focus on these two. First, no one, and I'm pretty confident in saying no one, know Star Wars better than Dave Filoni, (well, except George Lucas of course). Dave was George's pupil and he learned well. He also has a deep appreciation for the source materials Lucas drew inspiration from: serial sci-fi, westerns, and Kurosowa films. He talks to fans, he understand what they're interested in. Jon understands hero movies, really understands them, and he's got a history of pushing the film making technology to the limits. He did it with Ironman, and he's doing it with The Mandalorian. That new background technology they're using is the death knell of large-scale green screen usage. He's in control, but he's humble enough to not dominate, relying heavily on Filoni for lore knowledge, and happy with bringing in some truly dynamic directors, new and old. (I'm not sure I've ever been this excited with a TV series' directorial team.) And that's another of his strengths: Jon is well-respected in the industry and can ask for the best and get it. There's a lot more to add, but as I said, I'll take the high road. This time.
  8. Loved it as a kid, but then, we also used to make white break, sugar & butter sandwiches at the school cafeteria. How we ever made it through afternoon class, I'll never know. I've avoided SPAM in my older years due to medical concerns. As long as they don't come to take the scrapple too, then I'm fine.
  9. Is CoL the abbreviation for Champions Online? I've actually never see that, but then I don't follow CO (as I used to see it). I did dabble in Champions Online years back, and I seem to recall that their swinging travel power fired lines into thin air. That seemed stupid and immersion-breaking then and now. But if you put something on the end, a small anti-grav pack for the naturals and techs, a glowing rune for the magic types, some biological bubble for the mutant and science-y types, then at least it doesn't look entirely ridiculous hanging in mid-air.
  10. I see you hacked the security camera feed covering my work team.
  11. Actually, I've given that some thought over the years. Webbing would incur Marvel's legal wrath, but what about an anti-gravity "grappling hook" attached to a hi-tech fiber? It doesn't have to look like a hook: a small metal cylinder, perhaps. Fire it forward, a-g hook goes to open-air distance, holds position, character swings, hook and wire retract as next hook and wire are launched.
  12. First off, how is there not a thread in this forum on this topic yet? 😕 Okay that aside, who else is stoked for the last 2 episodes of season 2? Share your discussions and theories in this thread. And remember, use the spoiler feature to hide sensitive info. This is the way, or so the Devs have spoken. Oh, and any thoughts on web chatter about possible spin-off series?
  13. Preeeetty sure it's not a gaming pc. Sorry! 🙂
  14. Low cost solution: place a large cookie sheet with a lipped edge under the bowl, or possibly get some of those high-absorbent puppy housebreaking pads to keep under the bowl. I'm curious to know if this behavior predates her time with you. If not, it may be some emotional effect due to the change. I've not raised cats in decades, due to allergies, but I've seen dogs go through odd behavior due to trouble coping with change.
  15. Thanks! That would explain it. For all my time in the game, I've yet to tackle Night Ward or First Ward.
  16. I see this sort of thing all the time in my business IT department. Without holding the laptop to examine it, I wouldn't know for sure, but it does strongly resemble damage to the monitor, as opposed to a software issue. Really wish I was closer. I'd have been happy to swap out the viewscreen and keyboard for you. I don't know if you have the like in your area, but a flea market about 20 miles from me has an IT vendor of used parts who'd not only sell replacement parts, but handle the repairs for a modest fee. I can just barely make out "Toshiba" on your viewscreen. Vendors like him get most of their stock from decommissioned goods businesses want rid of. This doesn't necessarily mean ancient hardware. I've worked for companies that prefer to replace their models soon after a 3-year warranty runs out, and this is the kind of business he likes to "shop" at. Agreed. The challenging cost might not be the hardware, but finding a qualified tech to swap it for a reasonable fee. Keyboard, too, since Emmy pointed that out. Neat find! I was interested in finding just such a monitor. Just the thing to go with this new, inexpensive Raspberry Pi keyboard computer:
  17. Curious, as we have both staff fighting and NPC in Cimerora that throw spears. I'm guessing it would fall under ranged in the same way that the Energy/Energy set is considered range, even though the secondary is energy melee. I've long thought the idea of an elastic ranged punch would be animatable, but I'm not sure something like an elasticized wrapping effect to essentially hold or immobilize an opponent would be doable, and for the same reason that Greycat says wrapping whips and grappling hooks wouldn't work.
  18. Thanks! I'll look into that.
  19. Such a wealth of information, thank you! What's the previously-undocumented mission?
  20. Using Ouro to actually do what the Menders keep talking about. Cool concept.
  21. Don't you have to do that 3 times?
  22. Somewhere in there is a character.
  23. Where is this in the game please? I'll be the first to say I've not experienced every corner of the game, but I've never even seen other people's shots of this before.
  24. I can only speak from my perspective, though judging from other comments, it overlaps. My personal preference is to team through content, rather than solo or duo. This is polar opposite to any other MMO I've regularly played, probably because Pick Up Groups here are usually polite. Unfortunately, that means almost always sacrificing storyline missions. If you watch the LFG channel (in my case on Excelsior), PUG storyline teaming is almost never brought up, though radio/newspaper teams reasonably often are. I suspect this happens for a few reasons: 1. zone containment. Original content was written to send a player often outside a zone. Why? Probably because its a time sync: keep the player occupied in the game, but not pushing for a volume of content not currently developed. When storyline PUGs are run, I usually see calls for ones contained entirely (or nearly so) in one zone, such as the Hollows missions. Bottom line is players are willing to go to a zone, but not all over the place. Why else is Numina TF so reviled? So a hard look at storyline pathing might make it more appealing. 2. No investment by the team in story content. That is, the team has been conditioned to "go there, kill/arrest/rescue/find that", and that's about it. As a result, it's the rare PUG team that's willing for a lead to read through the storyline content on each mission. There needs to found a better way to invest the full team in the storyline. The Summer Blockbuster might serve as one template towards this end. 3. XP. Why run missions for an hour for half a level's gain when I can plow through a task force/strike force in the same amount of time and level twice? I mean, I do this, but even I'm aware that it gets dull after a while running repeatedly even something fun like Moonfire TF, I'm not sure what the answer is: bump up the story mission XP? provide an increased chance for rare drops? Give diminishing returns for running a TF after getting the badge for repeating a Weekly? Other? While I'm mentioning this, I feel street sweeping could use some love as well. Back in 2005, there was a lot of it going on. Today, it feels like an afterthought, and about the only time I see it is when a TF requires it. One thing I've felt it could benefit from is the street boss. This is the "Hogger" types, for those of you who've played WOW. Being able to beard the lion in his den, and hopefully get a nice drop with it. The closest thing I've seen to this is the prison break event in Brickstown. I actually enjoy the event. It's one of the few things on the street that makes me nervous to solo as I climb the ranks, rather than feel like I'm the alpha predator. Changes to these, especially where it feels like a challenge even to a 50, might reinvigorate this content, and consequently add to retention.
  25. Welcome home! If you've not figured it out yet, the game is not static, and we recently had Issue 27 drop. Might take some time to read the notes, as there were some notable changes to transportation, among a host of other new and revised material.
