  1. How is the pet? the consensus is that it is weak and slow and tends to overagro.
  2. As a sentinel you can up in the air with hover, or out in the distance, so you can focus on AoE/Ranged defenses and ignore Melee. The magic number is either 45% or 33% with small purples. If you're working with AoE, Range and Melee you can ignore the defenses to smash, defenses to energy, etc, since those three will cover all the others.
  3. The problem with bots is that we are going to be be going in expecting to toss a KB>KD IO on each pet, which can be a bummer for set bonus.
  4. We'd have to squeeze in Aid Self for a heal. Or take Fire Mastery. Warmth is only a 15% heal though with 10 second CD once all IOed out.
  5. Sorry Djaris, I haven't played in a decade and despite having cooked up this build I'm not an expert. Heck, I don't even know how to make a build for a /regen since they have neither resistances nor defenses :D But you should try on Discord (https://discord.gg/CQnbcjq) which is where the pros live. The forums are a lot less populated than Discord is.
  6. Let us know what you found out about the absorb. There is a lack of numbers that is annoying to decide on things.
  7. Just to point out that Ninja does have endurance recovery too though.
  8. Since new players get advised Sentinel for their first character I will also leave some tips for them: - So you are a brand spanking new character. Welcome! Start by hitting the P2W vendor (https://imgur.com/a/uxM72Ob) and get your double XP bonus. Stack it up to eight hours and replenish as needed, don't be shy, the loss of infamy is pocket change. Get Secondary Mutation for a small buff you can reapply every twenty minutes. Get the five prestige enhancements, which are both free and you can get as many as you want although you can only slot them once. I advise these to go into your AoE which will make you *very* powerful early on. Get Ninja Run OR Beast Run, which, combined with Sprint, will have let you move around fast. Get three of the Prestige Powers like Sands of MU and the Undead Slaying Axe if you're a meleer, or the Blackwand and Nemesis Staff if ranged. They help in the early levels when we have few attacks though eventually they should be abandoned since we can't slot accuracy or damage into them. - /optionset ShowVillainName 1 and /optionset ShowVillainBars 1 will let the enemies always show their name and HP bars which is a hidden gem. - You don't need to walk back to the contact to deliver the mission. This is not That Other Game. Once having done one mission for the contact you will be allowed to just... use your phone. Click on Contacts and speak with the NPC to both deliver the mission and request a new one. - Once you have your UI looking just the way you want, and have keybinded things just the way you like, and have moved your chat, removed the channels you don't want, added the channels you did want, then open options, and save your keybinds atop the keybind tab, save your chat and UI at the bottom of the Window tab, and every other character in the future will have these options loaded by default. Characters who were already made can join in the party by clicking 'load default file'. - Have a character be your crafter. Follow this link and learn the badges you want (usually accuracy, damage, endurance modification and recharge), this will cut down a *lot* of the crafting of IOs for the future and the IOs made won't be wasted since the next characters will use them: https://cityofheroes.fandom.com/wiki/Memorization_Badges. The university (Steel Canyon) is where you will craft them. - Every orange salvage (check your salvage window) is worth between a million and 800k. An orange recipe (check the recipe window) can be worth 200k to 3-5 million. Keep playing and you'll find more of that sweet sweet lewt. - Check merit vendors (but ask first what you should be buying on /help as prices evolve. The last I checked one merit was worth around 300-400k). You can run a taskforce (raid) and come out with enough merits worth 4-5 mill for 40 minutes work. Bonus if you do it in the level range since it 's all XP you'd want anyway. - If you are like me and have twenty alts it is a terrible idea to sell the salvage on them. You will have to remember which character has things on the AH, then log them all one by one to check if things sold. Terrible waste of time. Use your crafter as your auction house character. Just mail to yourself with @. This works for merits too. For example, if your account (not character) name is John, then mail to @john. Log your crafter, pick the mail, type /ah to access the auction house from anywhere (if the map has an auction, some places do not, like for example the SG base), then drag the salvage/recipe you want to sell directly to the AH window, press Find to see for how much it has been selling and decide what you want to sell it for. - While your crafter can mail the IOs it is a terrible way of doing things since we can only mail one item at a time. BUT you can go to the city hall in Atlas and make a Supergroup (guild) for free! And then you can place in salvage racks and enhancements racks that will act as guild banks, and THEN you can /altinvite your alts to that SG so that they can both unload their salvage in and also pick the enhancements. - So you are on your tenth alt, you've been doing the same solo missions ten times now. Time to power through the first 22 levels. If you're a hero say, blue, if you're a rogue say red, but go '/lfg Blue death from Below LFM'. Even if you are shy and not very social just click the names of people whispering you and invite them, the early trials can be done with any team composition. Then click on LFG, which is on the top of the chat window, choose Death from Below and go have fun. Do this three times to get the good buffs like accuracy, damage and recovery. You should be about level 12 now. Move to Steel Canyon but now say '/lfg Positron mission one LFM'. This can be done as early as level 8. Once the team is full speak with Positron (the dude who is by the trainer), choose the first talk option. Each time a mission is over just call him on the Contacts tab and move where the mission says. It takes an hour, XP is earned, sweet sweet merits are earned (11 if I recall correctly, remember each merit is worth 300-400k). You should be level 15 now. Do '/lfg Drenched in Blood LFM'. This is real quick and three of these will give more important bonuses (accuracy, damage and recovery) while also putting you at level 22. - City of Heroes has something similar to the hearthstone of That Other Game. You need to be level 14 to access it though. But once fourteen go somewhere busy like Atlas and just politely ask in chat if someone could drop an Orouboros portal. Go in,, climb the itty bitty ramp just behind where you showed up and run all the way up to the top. You will get an Orobouros portal of your own which has a five minutes cooldown and will lets you move around more quickly.
  9. The build I posted was just a few random things slapped together, but after having posted it I kept messing with it and made an actual build which I've just posted on the forums. Perhaps you can lift something for your own needs.
  10. I don't see much in the way of builds being posted here, so I wanted to do more than just moan about it. This is something I put together but I'm not a pro so I am sure there will be ways to further refine it. I'm not particularly sure which incarnate would help the most, though Agility Core Boost (recharge and endurance reduction) is the usual choice and it will perma hasten. Pros: - Capped positional defenses. You don't need to hang back fearfully. Jump in, go nuts, you're going to survive it. - Two heals. Every 20 seconds a 50% HP heal, every 10 seconds a 15% heal. That means in the first ten seconds we will have healed up to 80% of our HP, and in the next ten seconds another 65% (50% + 15%, ten seconds later another 15%. Cycle restarts ten seconds later). Much like Dark Armor's Dark Regeneration if it does not kill us in 20 seconds we are not going to die. We don't have much in the way of resists, but after a hit we can pop these two and get our HP back up. - Endurance recovery clicky every 20 seconds or so. A whooping 61% of our blue bar. No need for targets. You will need to work hard to deplete your endurance which hints that the endurance reduction incarnate might not be our best bet. - Stealth. - Lots and lots of AoE. Well, Fireball, Rain of Fire, Inferno and Fire Sword Circle. - You are ranged, so you can Hover over the fight, close enough for your PbAoEs to hit and still not be annoyed by the body collision of four or five team members plus MM pets plus a dozen enemy NPCs. Cons: - Not much in the way of resists so the hits that get past the defenses will hurt. - No Defensive Opportunity (but this can be replaced with some messing around with the slots), because, well, we already have two heals and an endurance recovery clicky. - Not as much damage compared to a Corruptor who can have perma Soul Drain AND Scourge, AND softcap their defenses AND cap their S/L resists, AND have perma Haste, AND buff the team, AND debuff enemies, AND have mez resist in the form of the Clarion incarnate... Why are we even rolling a Sentinel again...? The ST rotation is (according to people more versed in builds than me (hello there Auroxis)) Blaze - Blazing Bolt - Blaze - Fire Ball - Flares. The AoE rotation would be Inferno - Fireball - Rain of Fire - Fire Sword Circle - Fireball. Here is the build: Edit: Changed the slotting around to free up a slot in Blazing Blast to give it a KB>KD IO, that's why it has an empty slot since Pine's does not have that IO. It's bad enough Blazing Blast does repel without adding a KB to it (bad devs, bad!). Since Flares is our least damaging skill and a filler it took the Decimation chance to Build-Up proc since it won't hurt our damage much. 11. Ah, good to know, it's not apparent at first sight.
  12. It's nice to see people posting builds at last. This sub-forum has a lack of those. Have you considered /ninja? I was putzing around with some basic slotting, not even juggling a lot of sets, and had it at 42% to all (about capped with incarnate), and it just feels like a better /SR. It has a heal, it has a stealth, it has endurance recovery. It would have mez resist, which is something you discarded for the absorb shield, which is a weird thing to me since mez resist is one of the selling points of a sentinel. | Copy & Paste this data into Mids' Hero Designer to view the build | |-------------------------------------------------------------------| |MxDz;868;380;760;HEX;| |78DA7D92DD4EC23014C75BD8342208887C068931311A491651EF8D11352A10220F4| |016A863BA0CC230D14BDFC5CF1B5FC297F10BF5D2BB7AB61E31AEC6932CBFF5D7D3| |7F9B6ED5B372F87EF76283D0A92D4B779C6683D903D366965AD50DB345DC1A8727F| |DED9B87BA6DB0B6B6D96F7558FF3C3BF26576C46C876935D33E3607CE2989D4BB5D| |4BDB318D0E3418616F54617A0F06216FD0E831D69E145D96DB96DBEE992DED2751E| |F9F34ABBA33807D3270860578B85B7B4BF046DDA3F10029004A0A09F8B80F3D147B| |283AC5472FEC001A556C547162CC47FEBB28DC48C4BB1A4E22AE204130511142A3A| |B416F512C0D62167683B9386E10C7C0691F6B7088844854138F62FDCC13F25930F5| |827C15CC0C710CF949CC4F625E0699433E2CC227C4FCF46540CC5D09E6AF9137828| |55BE49DE03CE467313F5B147905E45CF1CF0BFABFF20AC1E2E2839265C9AC48A624| |9935C9AC4BA62299BA82FF0E18EA998918214161F83034FA6D70F65D326F92F990C| |C670AEE4518FE05E4D0EC78| |-------------------------------------------------------------------|
  13. I can't speak for all sets, but after slotting the superior version for the controllers I found it to do a whooping occasional 20 points of damage on a grey mob. Not even all the time or all mobs at once. Personal opinion: slot something like -res chance if you can and ignore damage procs if you can't.
  14. The recharge proc meant was the chance to recharge, so just one extra slot. The skill has no other use other than soft CC, certainly not for damage, and perhaps be a carrier for the chance to recharge since Hurricane won't always be turned on and not always knocking something. As for Tornado when loaded in Pines it shows 78% accuracy. Two things I was thinking. If we are spamming Fire Cages then won't the need for the KB>KD IO pretty much be negated? Fire Cages + Bonfire has been a staple since before that particular IO has been around, no? But does Tornado play well with Fire Cages? The second thing was how Long Range Teleport feels like a better Oroboros portal. But it costs a power. Not sure if worth the power cost, in my opinion.
  15. If I recall correctly Tornado is auto hit and thus does not need accuracy slots. Gale with a recharge proc might be worth it too.
  16. You have a free power at level 20. It's for us to pick what we'd like or an oversight? I rather like what you've done there, but all dem purples :D Any plan against mez or just carry breakfrees?
  17. Alright, it's me again with more inane questions. maybe if I reached end game instead of making new alts I'd learn a bit more :p But lacking that i have some questions instead if you could elucidate me. I'm curious about the numbers you've pumped. Everyone seems to build towards 45% and you just blew past to 75%+. Is it just an aftereffect of aiming for the mez resist in the incarnate system? is there a gain from passing the 45% softcap? You mention Distortion Field And Time's Juncture being interchangeable, but in your latest build you have both having eschewed Temporal Selection for it. Is it to reach a -recharge cap? Or the need to keep track of another buff just not worth it when pewpewing at the speed of light buffed like /kin and tanky as a tank?
  18. Being able to do damage is indeed a consideration to.. er... consider. my Illu/Time does great at controlling packs of mobs, but it only took doing a couple of missions in a group with two defenders and I might as well not be there. No need to control anything when the defenders were spamming huge heals on the tank (actually a scrapper, who also had dark regeneration), and at the same time I had nothing really to do damage with other than my PA (Phantasm is such a disappointment in terms of damage). At least /dark tosses -res patches on the ground so that we are indirectly helping with the kill speed even if the controlling is not necessary. Five pets might help as well. It's one of the reasons why we might as well 'control' with a Corruptor. If nothing needs controlling we're doing pew pews. Edit: After having wrote this I picked up my lowbie Fire/Time, and now with the experience of my Illusion/Time controller I have at 36 I can say that yes, in practical terms I feel like I have the same 'control' over a pack as I had on my controller. On my controller I would open with Spectral Terror, then add Distortion Field, and for all purposes the pack was controlled. They would cower in place and as the team would hit them they would attack once and then slowly try to run away (mobs really really hate to be inside Time Distortion which is CC all by itself since they are slooooowly running away and not attacking). Here and there I had some clutch moments throwing PA at the right time that I feel saved the team. But... I play the Fire/Time corruptor. I throw Distortion Field, mobs go nuts slooowly trying to run away. Fireball, Rain of Fire. Suddenly mobs are dead at the second fireball. Did Positron. We have ambushes coming from behind. Distortion Field, Rain of Fire, Fireball. What ambush? Ambush from inside the City Hall. They fall inside Time Distortion and Rain of Fire and are more worried about fleeing than fighting. The packs of bosses at the end of the TF had people worried. We cleaned them in seconds since they were not *actually* CCed (which would not be easy to achieve on a controller without stacking mag) but just following the AI to run away from RoF and Distortion Field. I made this long diatribe because of your mention of your worry regarding damage, so this is me adding my two cents regarding how superfluous I personally felt with more than one controller, or even a defender, in the team. Soloing the Midnighter arc to get access to Cimora and whittling mobs while my phantasm takes 30 seconds to kill a white level mob. Heck, even the endurance woes I had with the controller are mightily mitigated because I'm not spamming low damage skills or holds on tough mobs.
  19. Thanks for the help, Auroxis, more things to ponder. I'm still wanting Aid Self instead of pills but I suppose it is just wishful thinking. Nothing much must survive the initial unloading of AoEs.
  20. I doubt someone could get 72% dam res and still be softcap. Maybe the One with the Shield buff was active? That was the case. Same resists on the Stalker with it on.
  21. Bots/Cold does appear to be a better version of Bots/FF. But in either case I worry about how we heal our pets. Are we supposed to run around with Aid Other?
  22. People have been going on forever about this combo as a brute/scrapper but mentioning the mediocre ST damage, something which Stalker seems to fix with AS. I've lifted this build from the Scrapper forums and tried to import it as a Stalker, though removing their Fire Mastery and putting in Aid Self since I'd like self healing that does not involve just pills. I'm nearly soft capped lacking only a bit over melee, but the scrapper version had 72% resists and with the porting the stalker only has 46%. Would anyone care to look at the first draft and see what could be improved? Villain Plan by Mids' Villain Designer 1.962 http://www.cohplanner.com/ Click this DataLink to open the build! 23. I'm not an expert so correct me if I am being grossly oversighting something. But, first of all you get Transference every ten seconds, so why bother slotting Endurance reduction on so many toggles? Why did you skip on Rain of Fire? It's a big ass AoE that your Scourge loves. You did not toggle Focused Accuracy, so you had four ToHit slotted in Tactics where a single one was enough to make your snipe uninterruptible. Doesn't Aim feel superfluous when you're capping yourself in damage with Fulcrum Shit and your ToHit is already 'passively' so high? Removing all those endurance toggles and the extra ToHit in Tactics gives six slots to play around with, but I don't know what you'd like to spend them on as the build seems pretty complete as it is.
  24. The incarnate stuff on Pines does not appear to do a thing. I have PA at 62 seconds. Choose Agility Total Core Revamp (45% endurance, 33% recharge) or Spiritual Boost (33% recharge) and PA remains at 62 seconds. I may be missing some crucial detail... Edit: Discord helped me. Apparently the recharge we get from incarnates is subjected to ED. Which is weird if you ask me. Since I had PA at 108% already i just had it bumped to to 140% which, of course, had no effect in PA's recharge. It would warrant reslotting everything to take that into consideration though.

Don't you have combat jumping or Hover to slot a KB protection IO?
