  2. PBs are cool. Starforge and Mojo Lite are the best Peacebringers around. But Warshades are just the dollar store version
  3. There is no real way to post a guide, but I figure I'd post stuff for a crowd. For new roleplayers mostly or for those who may be interested in superhero RP - at least in CoX. If anyone has any tips to add, feel free to post them. This "guide" only grows with the communities help. LORE RP Don't really worry about this. City of Heroes' lore is so loose and free that "Lore RP" isn't a thing. It's a superhero universe, and comic books are known for wild possibilities. The lore is also all over the place, constantly contradicted, or outdated. So don't really sweat it about getting details entirely right. Most roleplayers aren't fanatical about the lore in this game in particular. Those that are tend to not be worth the attention. As long as you're not saying you're the lover of a lore character - thats something you want to avoid in public RP. Unless it fits the character to boast such a lie! https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page is a good spot to find the history of the universe, the lore, etc. But again, its all pretty loose and easy. TAGS & TERMS You see these in bios; I=Immersive. Not quite sure what this means, tbh. A=All - this just means they're up for everything. Mature/Dark = This means mature content. Likely referencing stuff like gore, drugs, sex - adult themes, really. Stuff that is definitely R-rated or higher. Walk-up/Whispers = You see this for people who are a-okay with tells or walk-ups. Generally means they're fine with psionics, etc or people approaching their character. Other terms to consider: Powergaming/Godmodding - Usually undodgeable attacks, one hit KOs Metagaming - Knowledge you're told ONLY OOC being brought IC. This can be something like knowing someone's name when its marked as being a secret identity, etc. If its not a-okayed by the other player, its a bad idea to mention it IC. If your character wouldn't know it, then its bad. POWERS Really, superhero universe. Anything can be anything as long as you can color it or explain it. You don't have to match your build exactly to what the powers are. Just take comic characters as examples when picking out your character's gifts. The same go for origins - science, tech, magic, natural, and mutation are broad. You can do a whole lot within them. Some of them even can blend or overlap. People like to play Warshades/Peacebringers as something other than space-faring aliens that need a host - for an example. Or use x Melee/Blast as magic or x-kinesis mutation etc. CHARACTER TYPES Anything is possible. Time travelers, aliens, new heroes, anthromorphs. Go wild! Gods too - though the Greek gods themselves are a touch tied to the game. There's alien races, dimensions (Axis America, for example) HOT SPOT Current hot spot is the tried and true Pocket D. Others hang out in bases, do small group RP, and such. You'll find the most of it in PD - its an inter-dimensional club. If it doesn't fit your character then try to find a group. Look out for events - usually in the forums or the Discords. CITY OF ROLEPLAYERS https://discord.gg/zaTX4cJ A discord dedicated to the roleplayers on Homecoming - mostly on Everlasting, but we welcome all. That's it for now - but I welcome more tips and tricks.
  4. No, but you're trolling me at this point I imagine. Oof.
  5. But you keep mentioning them and addressing the posts that mention them, and you keep talking about them. I'm just baffled is all. I've never seen someone so stubborn to let it go.
  6. JB, my man. Please. Just stop. You keep digging a bigger and bigger grave. If they're trolling, they've won. They've won ten times over.
  7. It's only trolling at this point because someone kept falling for the running joke and getting their knickers in a massive wad. In other words: damn people are gullible.
  8. Make sure you've done: Heather => Mu'Vorkahn => Max => Praetor Duncan => Sister Solaris => Dream Doctor Inside these missions are sub-goals that award badges. https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Time_Saver_Badge https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Knows_No_Fear_Badge https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Lone_Wolf_Badge https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Buddy_Cop_Badge https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Incarnate_Rival_Badge + https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Truth_Teller_Badge https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Cimeroran_Hero_Badge https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Praetor_Selfish_Badge https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Nanite_Man_Badge https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Bound_for_Glory_Badge https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Architect_Writer_Badge + the badges for completing each arc.
  9. Don't think the topic was particularly lore RP, but more so generally what the player sees as doesn't meet their standard and was looking for others who experienced such. I may be missing the mark a little, but oh well.
  10. JB, you are a hoot. Though I think Pester was trying to say that to Bentley :P
  11. Assumptions make an ass out of you (and me, as the saying goes, but I'm not the one assuming) - I am giving people the benefit of the doubt for various reasons: => We all start somewhere => This game is new for a lot of people. => Some people are new to roleplaying (cycles back to the first point) => They might know any better, or they have a different idea of roleplay. Doesn't make them cringey or Mary Sues. Both are terms that need to die off, tbh. Only according to personal belief and standards of your own, rather than global standards. What is poor to you is what I'd describe is people who are either embracing the wide variety (that comic book/superhero genres entail) or being new to roleplaying - or some other reason. It's not poor to have fun or to make mistakes - both are entirely valid. There are no rules to roleplay except the ones followed within circles (i.e friend groups, supergroups, etc) - plus any rules that the server itself puts out (which is none, bar some very specific rules about where you roleplay/what you roleplay - targeting more adult or truly heinous things) - so yeah. Some people do not quite understand what is and isn't roleplay breaking because its based on personal opinion. To them, having a character who can fix stuff is a-okay to them but they've never been told otherwise that "hey, this is all way too deus ex machina style." or such. That's the problem: You're not engaging them in a manner that would benefit their growth as a roleplayer. You, instead, chose to make a forum topic. To each their own, but you're only adding to your own personal problem.
  12. I know you're venting, but I still feel like addressing this; Some people don't play using the Security/Threat level stuff. There's also a lot of room for public knowledge, etc. It also needs to be said that the story for Praetoria is over more or less - the Praetors are defeated, the invasion has been shut down, and all thats left are pockets of resistance perhaps - and Devouring Earth. Now, if the team explicitly states they're pre-invasion then that's another thing entirely. RPing in teams can be a bit funky. Now, again, there's a lot of public knowledge out there. Media is a big deal, as are books - which often contain information. As do reports for agencies, etc. So knowing everything, while a bit sketch, isnt as heinous in COH's universe. It's really up to the player - and some players may just be new and think OOC knowledge=IC knowledge. Other times, its people playing an older/veteran character. On the first, dialogue can sometimes be one of the hardest parts of roleplaying. What one sees as cringe (This word is horrid) or mary sue, the person might find to be the best they could do. After all, most of us aren't best-selling novelists ala GRRM or JKR. On the second, sometimes characters are not going to be as you expect. Not all characters are the same. One character may be all blase about the demonic powers, and another will feel turmoil over it. It may not be lacking the ability to RP but more that they are new to it, or new to a superhero genre for RP - especially such an open-ended lore for what is possible.
  13. Thanks to creativity and power coloring, you can pretty much play off a bunch of stuff as...not what it is. Magic is magic, and thus can be just about anything. So yeah, it doesn't affect my builds for me.
  14. https://puu.sh/DLJ7u/4d17304a60.png Good job to Captain Star for leading this. We're World Second / Everlasting First as far as I can tell.
  15. Little late on this, but my group just got Triple Threat / Hard Way in a single run. For Triple Threat, you'll want to split the teams. Have one team for SH, one for NP, and one for Chimera. For NP/SH, you'll want to pull them apart just a bit so AOE is not as effective on them. What you do is push SH down to dog form and then switch DPS to NP. By that time, the Chimera team should have him near ready to start tower-bouncing. The Rain of Arrows is just a damage on you sort of deal, but sometimes it doesnt trigger. For NP/SH, you'll want to communicate slowing down in case NP's shield goes up. Stop around 10% and gradual burn from there. NP will get his shield back during this, so teams have to be mindful of that. Time their HP to hit about 2-3% close to one another. At that point, if NP doesnt have his shield up, burn them down
  16. Shadeknight / Hexstone / Dusk Chameleon / Doctor Warlocke here. Founder/Leader of The Silver Aegis, The Jadewire back in the days...
  17. 1.) Leagues get put into shambles each time you load in, and kick 4-5 members back to zone/fail to load them in initially 2.) Underground trial - This seems to have a desync issue. When trying for a badge regarding the Charges (where you destroy them rather than detonate them) - it seems even at max range, some bombs treat you as in range. This has stopped me from getting the badge a few times 3.) Magisterium trial - It seems that a mass amount of pets (lore & MM pets both) cause a good number of the league to crash to desktop. It may be due to Chimera's teleport 4.) Leagues - Every so often, if someone fails to load, they get locked from being put into a team once loaded back in the league/map.
