OK. Then you get . . . more Jimmy links!

How did you know? I posted a set of Jimmy links and quotes that gave a fairly good roadmap:

I almost never sell rare salvage unless I've accumulated a bunch of a certain type and its clogging up my salvage. Occasionally, I will put them in storage or in email for other characters to craft. And I also almost never buy rare salvage. But I don't do volume like some of you guys. I just play, craft/convert/sell what drops and maybe buy cheap stuff to convert. I would think that you have a gazillion brainstorms from packs. Have you used those all up, saving them for a rainy day, have them in unopened packs, or just don't want to slow click to get them?

Thanks, PK. Hope you are well. Please come back when you are ready.

Are you calling me a psycho elephant?

I appreciate whenever you chime in #6, and while a PR person sounds like a good idea, in my experience they usually end up sounding like a corporate shill. I will say that Jimmy was a great exception to that rule and I wish that he could still fill that role. But real life comes first.

@Ukase, while I am always a fan of transparency and the freedom to discuss the game without too much moderation, I also understand that some secrecy and some moderation are necessary and helpful. It's not just Homecoming that works this way. Before a movie, or an album, or a book comes out the creators don't generally rehearse in public or release each page as it's written. Instead, they have editors, friends and family, and sometimes test audiences to take a look and give some feedback. It's not just artistic endeavors. Lots of businesses test market new products and services to a limited group before a general release to the public. In fact, HC is more open than most of those others. You don't get a preview for most things unless you work in the particular industry or are invited to participate. Here, everyone is invited to try it on the Beta server and everyone can request to be a part of Alpha testing. The best way to get invited to Alpha test, beyond asking and joining the Gold Standard Testers Discord, is to actively test things on Beta and give reasonable, honest feedback. That doesn't mean you have to love it or hate it. It simply means you have to try it and articulate why the proposed change is good or bad or needs adjusting up or down. They need all kinds of testers. Folks who like to edit text, folks who use spreadsheets to min-max, folks that play by "feel" and many others are all valid and needed.

I had a similar experience. Got a notification that someone reacted/responded to me, went to look and it was gone. I clicked the "Contact Us" box and got an email directing me to this thread. I didn't know that OPs can remove a whole thread by removing their original post. Too bad. I liked that thread. HEY @Troo! What happened?

Focused Feedback: Necromancy Revamp
Bionic_Flea replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I tried out the same combo; the zombies -tohit combines very well with the defense from FF. But the endurance use is crazy! Soul Extraction - 30 base endurance Repulsion Bolt - 12.74 base endurance Force Bomb - 21.19 base endurance Gloom and Life Drain - 10.66 base endurance Enchant and Dark Empowerment - 11.38 base endurance Even with decent slotting at level 35, I have to monitor endurance very closely or find my toggles dropping. I appreciate trying to make the MM personal attacks worth taking and I do really like the Specters, but taking them and only using them sparingly makes me think that I might still want to skip them and save the endurance. Oh, and with regard to the Specters, I had not noticed that they have a power Icon under your health bar when active. I didn't notice until I switched to numerical stacking and saw it go to 2 when the second Specter appeared. -

@Player-1 If it's there, it's too subtle for me to tell. Can anyone see the difference? Their summoning attack each have a different color set. -

I'd just like to know if they're there or not. Hard to tell sometimes with just 2 zombies. Once I have a full complement I assume it will only be harder. Option would be best of both worlds. Hey! Does coloring the power change the color/transparency of the Specter? Let me check. EDIT: Nope. Changing color just changes the summoning animation color, not the Specters' color, just like Lores. Although, having this different color is helping me recall a bit which power summoned one last. It would be great if they could inherit some of that color as an aura or the color of their cloak or sash. I know, I know *standard code rant* but a bug can have dreams. -

Started a new Necro/FF to try out two new things at once. Thanks for making the Specters not have a collision box. But if we aren't going to add them to the pet box can we at least make them a little less transparent? They are super hard to see if you aren't right on top of them. More feedback after I log a few more levels. . . . -
IO Power Percentages Differ From Descriptions

It's long standing display bug. But hopefully, Faultline can find it and squish it. -
Focused Feedback: Fiery Aura Revamp

[POSSIBLE MINOR BUG] - I can't seem to find any combat spam from Consume's +MaxHP. Not in any of the damage or healing channels, including the pet ones. Did it not get a message, get sent to an odd place, or am I blind? -
Drama Llama eyes this thread cautiously . . .

You probably already know this, but there is a "freebies" menu in the same little icon where you change difficulty and trigger emotes. In that menu, you can choose to auto level to whatever level you want, get whatever IOs you want at whatever level you want, all for free. What I sometimes do to test a leveling build is to get a level or two "naturally" and then boost it to a nice number like 10, 23, 27, 35, etc and play at the designated level for a bit until moving to the next milestone just to get a feel at different stages without having to go the full 1-50.

Because it's their house, and they make the rules, but they invited us to this party and asked for donations to buy the booze and snacks. It's not unreasonable to want to be asked what I like to eat and drink. Edit: I also wanted to add that I think they have a long term vision that includes buffing under-performers, nerfing over-performers, and I have a sneaking suspicion that this is like ED where the OG devs had to reduce defense and enhancement values so that they could add IOs. I have no inside knowledge other than a feeling based on reading dev posts over several years.

"They're unpaid volunteers and we are just guests" "We pay and play and should have some input" I think both of those statements are accurate. You may associate more with one position or the other, but they are not binary and, indeed are simultaneously true. However, that does not mean that we get to dictate what they work on. They are unpaid volunteers who get to decide how much time to dedicate to what projects. And, to be fair, we ARE consulted. While they haven't done it in a while, there used to be weekly discussions on forums and Discord on a wide variety of game stuff. (See link below). They also have the current focused feedback threads, that they have with every issue, and there has not been an issue or page to my recollection that things were NOT changed based on player feedback. There's an entire section of the Forum called "Suggestions and Feedback." Before it ever gets on Beta, it's run on Alpha and discussed in the Gold Standard Testers Discord channel and the Alpha forums. Go ahead and clutch your pearls and tell me about the secret cabal running the game. Gold Standard Discord is an open place but you do need to be vetted to test on Alpha because they don't want leakers or drama llamas. So if you want to be part of the Secret Cabal, just ask. Send your favorite dev a DM and tell them you are interested. If you are a reasonable person that is willing to actually test things by playing it and not a drama llama leaker you will be welcomed. I will out myself as a member of both Alpha and Gold Standard Testers. I have sometimes gotten stuff changed there, sometimes after it's on beta, by trying it out and then trying to explain why I think that their proposed change is undesirable. Sometimes I initially, instinctively, and knee-jerkedly criticize a proposed change and then try it and have to admit it's not as bad as I thought. Many times I have been convinced that it IS a better product with the change. And other times I still disagree, the change goes through, and I learn to live with it. Even better, if you have coding skills or are willing to learn you can even volunteer to become a Dev yourself. I don't know if you have noticed, but sometimes certain devs are very active in the forums and sometimes they go radio silent, sometimes some new dev name appears. To the best of my knowledge, ALL of the devs are current and former players that are willing to take their time to make this game grow and work. When a certain dev goes radio silent it may be that their real life got complicated with work, health, or family issues, but it's also happened that they decided not to continue working on the game after their work was viciously and sometimes personally attacked. You know that we can all be aggressive on these forums, some more than others, but we all sometimes go too far. So please, test, dissect, discuss, and yes, even argue about the changes. But remember there are human beings on the other side of this discussion. A human being who, like you is passionate about a superhero game. Be excellent to each other.

Focused Feedback: Fiery Aura Revamp

I also had Super Reflexes. But limited amount of powers as I didn't want to give them too much defense and miss. Maybe I could add something in SR and remove the swords. -
Focused Feedback: Fiery Aura Revamp
Bionic_Flea replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I just ran a rad/FA Brute on America's Angel's farm on HC Beta. The sword attacks combined with the new aggro rules makes fire farming critters with those attacks almost impossible with 90% fire resistance, 78% lethal resistance, and 47.23 fire defense. If you are less than 50+ defense one hit can start a cascade defense failure that lets more attacks hit. Healing flames and Phoenix Rising and just general damage were insufficient for me. Even using T4 Barrier Core, I was unable to stay alive long enough to clear most of the meteor map. I then edited Flea's Fairy Fire Farm. I could not get fire melee to 100% XP at 50 without the Sword attacks or aim/build up, so I switched to Fiery Assault. Even without the -defense, it was rough, especially at the beginning. With the map full and all the critters with a bunch of ranged attacks I was taking a lot of damage, but I was able to push through using all available tools and the more critters that were killed, the easier it got. I did not notice Burning Flames to be faster, nor did I feel any significant increase in survivability from Phoenix Rising or Consume but, to be fair, they aren't slotted for heals. Then again, I don't think I should be spending so much time healing or devoting slots to heal on a brute.
