  1. In Internet debates, brevity is often a virtue. Judging upon your multiple uses of the word, "logic", I am beginning to question whether you understand the concept. Never have I argued from the point of logic. It is opinion. Yes, the class feature of continually buffing pets is annoying to me personally and I would wish it changed. I do not have to have a reason for my opinion, therefore it cannot be wrong (morals can be and the information that leads one to an opinion might be; semantics, I know). I have no reasons for liking applesauce and yet I still do. Arguing whether someone's opinion is "wrong" is an exercise in futility. You may try to change it if you wish by illustrating how great your opinion is, or by attacking the information which leads one to express that opinion (in this case, my annoyance) but I think there might be better uses of your time. You have done so ad nauseam and yet I remain annoyed by the mechanic in question. Clearly my opinion is only shared by the minority but had I the ability, I surely would advocate to advance my own playing experience over "everyone" else. This is, by far, my favorite game of all time, and yet there are many things I would change about it.
  2. Thank you for telling me my opinion is flat out wrong. That is very gracious of you. I am sure that tactic wins many arguments. From my own standpoint, it is my opinion that masterminds are not broken. They are simply annoying to me. As you stated in another post, yes, their play style does not match my own. I wish that it would. Clearly you wish it to remain the same. However, asserting your own opinion as simple fact does not make it so, as much as you provide evidence for your opinion or state the original intent of the developers. It becomes a moot point but wished to express my opinion, as useless as it seems to be. But consider this (to channel Tommy Boy): if I took a dump and served it to you as a sandwich, then convinced you that is the way sandwiches are supposed to taste. And you, persuaded by my statement, rationalized it so that you enjoyed shit sandwiches. Further, in your ingenuity, you made other dishes that incorporated the shit sandwich and became really good at eating shit sandwiches, which is a testament to your perseverance and skill. But in the end, whether you like it or not, it does not change the fact that it is a shit sandwich. My desire is that we all did not need to eat shit.
  3. I am in agreement with the OP. I think it is a broken mechanic, arguments to the contrary do not sway my opinion.
  4. I absolutely disagree with this. I do not find masterminds a fun class anymore and this has been one of my biggest gripes. The "never let your pets die" was a bad philosophy IMO. I also hate having to pick a location when summoning them, but that is the problem with most pets in the game. It's an annoying mechanic.
  5. I am ok with this too. I was suggesting a default position. But honestly, there doesn't need to be a default. Simply more choices. I want a Sonic Blaster that can choose between a backpack sonic device, a banshee scream, a rifle that shoots sonic waves and a mystical device that chimes sound waves. Etc, etc. Not all power sets would qualify for this (broadsword maneuvers do not qualify, just the look of the broadsword). But a technology Ice corruptor who uses an ice gun versus throwing icicles from your fist...
  6. I am like Macheriel (that was a good ship in Eve Online btw) and play at a "high level". Having played this game since 2005, I've played all content at one point. Now, I power level a character to 50, then outfit their build before ever playing it. And I do not judge until I have a few Vet levels under the belt. For me, the sweet spot in the game is experimenting different power combinations. And to add my 2 cents to the other argument: group play is where I wish to do steamroll content, so crashless nukes and Judgments are quite fine with me. Almost all of my 40 toons can solo +4x8 content (most, not all) but some of them do so much slower than a group tears through content, and that is why I might join a group. But if I want to enjoy content, I play it solo. I really wish there was a way for all task / strike forces to be done solo for that reason, but with much decreased Merit Rewards or whatever.
  7. Here is another one. I wish that your origin was more involved in the animations of your powers. So that if you are a Tech or Science toon, when you choose Flight, it looked differently than the Magic or Mutation toon. Also, there should have been an Alien origin. Sonic Blast could look and sound differently depending origin. It could still be customizable but a default look or feel would be there for most powers. Simply put, more power customization that took that into account.
  8. I wholeheartedly second this. Boomtown and Crey's Folly need a storyline. I wish a 50 could run radio missions in each zone with different choices of villains.
  9. I have a spines / bio brute in my collection. She is very effective at both farming and regular content.
  10. I have a poison/archery defender and can say that it is one of my weakest and least favorite characters. Sure, she is good against AVs, but otherwise is superfluous to a group. The heal is marginal. The debuffs are pretty good, but the problem is you cannot see that they are taking effect most of the time. I too wish the poison set was implemented differently. IMO, it never should have been a defender set (defender with poison? weird) but then again corruptors should be the main debuffers of the game (um, they corrupt...). But, whatever. There should have been some offensive component to it. More damage over time type stuff. However, one alternative to consider is going night widow. Their needle attacks have poison to them which is kind of fun. Again, I wish they had leaned into the poison mastery for widow training, just as fortunatas are supposed to be the psychic operatives of that branch. Or, maybe poison mastery should be an epic set, or part of a patron pool. All the testimonies on this thread that support this character or that, often do so because of the strength of the other set, and not because of poison. Also, turning poison into a proc monster, while fun, does not speak of the strength of the set either. It does have a niche to be sure, but in the current state of the game, is rather weak for the majority of the gameplay IMO. And it doesn't have a good response to the player for "having done something". I wish poisoned enemies turned green and choked or something so I could really feel and others knew that I poisoned them. Playing alone you can kind of see the effect sometimes, but in groups, no way.
  11. I have a rad/ rad brute at veteran level 60+. He is the second character I made on Homecoming last year and is able to do all content without problems. I used to farm with him also before I made slightly more efficient farmers (spines/bio, ss/fire, rad/fire). As a farmer, rad/fire is better, but my rad/rad brute was just fine, though I went for s/l farms rather than fire farms. In any case, my only complaint to my build is that I can never figure out how to squeeze Taunt in, which I wanted. Both primary and secondary have a lot of must have abilities. FYI, I have 35 toons all twinked out so I know some, but not all about this game. I also have a crab spider soldier which is fun for doing group content because he has some good AoE attacks, but solo is weaker than the brute by a fair margin. His pets are interesting but I am not a fan of pet classes and find them temperamental. TLDR --> Yes, rad/rad brute is perfectly fine. Probably better choice than Arachnos Soldier for an all-around explore all content character IMO.
  12. I have found that +2x4 is the sweet spot for most of my toons. A few of my builds I feel are slightly weaker so I go +1x4 (poison / archery defender...). And then a few of my toons are particularly strong and can usually handle the full +4x8. Arachnos I do not care to fight at full difficulty solo because the Blindness effect. It prolongs fights too long. Debuffing on Arachnos, Seers, Banished Pantheon can be problematic. Council is very easy, even on full difficulty. Which is why everyone likes to run Council on PI pickup groups.
  13. Yeah, we are playing tag apparently
  14. I want that name. Willing to pay
  15. This is a fun game. All on Indomitable. All completely twinked out. The ones in PURPLE are my favorites that I play often. {4 scrappers, 5 blasters, 7 brutes, 1 tanker, 2 dominators, 2 corruptors, 2 controllers, 2 defenders, 2 stalkers, 1 widow, 1 spider, 1 warshade, 1 mastermind, 1 sentinel} 1. Black-Owl --> street justice / willpower scrapper 2. Lady Electric --> electric / electric blaster 3. Tiger-Man --> claws / regeneration brute 4. Iron Raven --> dark / dark armor scrapper (this character was my first 50 on live) 5. Sol Invictus --> radiation / radiation brute (named Sunstorm for a portion of his career before I realized there was an NPC with the same name) 6. Valkriye --> electric melee / invulnerability tanker 7. Miss Fury --> martial arts / super reflexes scrapper 8. Hell's Belle --> dark / fire dominator 9. Kid Photon --> radiation / radiation corruptor 10. Madame Krait --> night widow 11. Fyrelord --> fire / fire armor brute 12. Queen Lotan --> spines / bio armor brute 13. Ice-Angel --> ice / pain manipulation corruptor 14. Swan Maiden --> illusions / electricity controller 15. Dread Star --> warshade 16. Vespina --> archery / poisons defender 17. Malicina --> savage melee / dark armor stalker 18. Lord Kraken --> crab spider 19. Rainbow Serpent --> fire / kinetics controller 20. Eve Goodnight --> thugs / pain mastermind (my 2nd 50 on live, way more fun back then!) 21. Mountainheart --> earth / fire brute (this combo is vastly underrated for farming) 22. Windsplitter --> sound / energy aura blaster 23. Oceania --> storms / water defender 24. Stratohawk --> energy / energy sentinel 25. Violenza --> mental / fire blaster 26. The Lioness of Dahomey --> broadsword / shield brute 27. Shadow of the Tiger --> ninja sword / ninjutsu stalker 28. Yara --> plant / savage dominator 29. Atomic Spectre --> radiation / fire aura brute 30. La Adelita --> dual pistols / martial arts blaster 31. Max Adrenaline --> dual pistols / devices blaster 32. Lady Silverhand --> dual blades / willpower scrapper Players on the rise 1. Lord Nightwind --> earth / earth dominator 2. Vespina II --> archery / ninjutsu blaster 3. Knighthawk. (the period does not annoy me because I know who has this name and he is nice) --> beam rifle / energy aura sentinel 4. Armsman. (someone give me this name. The period annoys me to no end) --> assault rifle / invulnerability sentinel. (Would have been my 4th 50 on live, but...)
  16. I have noticed the same thing on Indomitable.
  17. Same. I have a character that is begging for a spear!
  18. I believe this is coming very close to fruition. At least in some form.
  19. I feel like the pet should be called K9 and it be a dog pet from the MM line.
  20. I understand that. All 3 of my doms have perma-dom but none of them use purple sets. My point being that for the expense, is the extra 2-4% really worth the 20 million influence (or 100 merits, which ever), further sacrificing some of the other stats that you might achieve from another set. Maybe...
  21. It hasn't and holy crap yes. Originally there were different starter contacts based upon your origin but those were replaced. You can still do them but they have no significance after level 10 or so. Your origin power should be able to be slotted out if you want. I REALLY, REALLY want throwing knives! I think of quest/mission tracks like this: there should be an origin path of multiple arcs for each level bracket, a zone arc for each zone including task forces and special arcs for hazard zones (Perez Park, Boomtown etc), archetype arcs that can be done in much larger level brackets (say between 10 and 20, 30 to 40 etc) which are the same regardless of origin, epic level arcs which are done at a higher level and finally special arcs for special purposes (tailor arcs, respec arcs etc). As filler, the Reconnaissance Officer in each zone should give repeatable kill/arrest tasks along with the detective tasks. I think this was a feature in Age of Conan or LOTRO (I cannot remember which). Anyone who has played SWTOR would recognize the setup: class arcs, planet arcs, epic arcs. Dark Age of Camelot had a special epic chain to get your "epic armor" at level 50 which was quite good (mostly). I think the same could be done here for a particular enhancement set, or something else of similar reward value.
  22. I am on board with 90% of this: 1. No, not quite remove, but downplay yes. 2. Absolutely yes. The original devs really missed the boat on this for storytelling purposes. 3. Absolutely yes. See #2 4. Yep. Someone before this mentioned city-scapes in the background that had moving parts in them to make you feel like you're in a living city. Great suggestion. 5. This might be hard but I am ok with it. 6. See #5.
  23. The audio on Star Wars - The Old Republic (SWTOR) is fantastic. Hire those people!
  24. I am down with this for the most part. Whoever has "Armsman" on Indomitable, contact me...
