  1. Everything is weaksauce compared to fire blast because the secondary effect for defenders in fire blast is...more damage. Ice is not that much more damage than energy on a defender unless you are leveraging FR + aoe goodness, which you CAN do with torrent on an energy blast defender. I would invest some KB>KD procs in energy blast in a team play build so that nova and torrent don't drive your teammates bonkers short of you being a kb expert that can push the spawn to the middle of the kill zone. (Good stormies don't knock foes out of Freezing Rain 😉 )
  2. I don't particularly go after that proc, but my stormies all have 3 slotted health, and 3 slotted stamina. I put the miracle and the numina's in health with a heal IO and the performance shifter proc and two other endmod IOs in stamina to quench my stormies' blue thirst. If I am going on a particularly thirsty adventure like... the MLTF I pick up some buffs in the supergroup base and get +recovery and -end drain at an empowerment station
  3. I will be quite frank. DP plays NOTHING like ice blast. It would be a totally different ride. I do see how some of the shorter animation blasts in DP would work will with the slower animations in time. SPeaking of DP, if some bozo tells you that you dont need swap ammo, tell ole Psy said to kick them in the shins, esp on a defender since the secondary effects of the ammo times is amplified on a 'fender.
  4. Can you proc distortion field like choking cloud and not get a more solid hold when it does proc? chance for +mag hold in choking cloud does wonders! Just an AoE slow? Harrumpf, you slow things down far enough its darn near close to being an aoe HOLD
  5. I have an Ice/TIme corruptor I like very much. I know. It's not a defender, but he is a close cousin to your defender. I call my Ice/TIme Frozen Pickle. I have all the hold powers because when I want to hold a boss, I just keep stacking until they are good and held. It's actually pretty amazing. The ice rains inho work better on a corruptor because of scourge. The other plus is I sometimes find powersets I am not inclined to favor or play as well, such as time. But, Ice/time clicked for me for some reason. I think it's because the ice blast animations are fairly quick compared to the time animations. Good luck. I tend to prefer to level up a character and shelve it after incarnating it, so I cant really speak to how it plays itrials but it sure is hella fun in the 'growing up' levels
  6. I don't think he is epic, but I have a storm/energy that kicks buttocks as well. the force feedback proc is a thing of beauty - more lightning storms, more tornado
  7. IF your defender/corruptor literally leads with tar patch, things could get ugly fast. JS. I too like the cone of massive to-hit debuff and I alternate that with the Target AoE autohit -regen, slow that also happens to revive when there are unlucky teammates in the area.
  8. Chiming in on the FF +rech proc, it makes a big difference having that in secondary powers with KB/KD. I refer mostly to my proc mad Storm/energy blast defender that has so many FF +recharge opportunities. One concern about force bomb, I thought the chance for KD was ridiculously murdered instead of the 40% chance in the belated forcefield repulsion bomb. Did I miss something on the proc ability of Force Bomb?
  9. You Can heal yourself with dehydrate on a Storm / Water Defender!! And Dehydrate comes with its own spiffy foe debuff. Points to ponder, have fun storming
  10. I have a Storm/water defender and an Elec Affinity/Water defender. Hard to say which are my main. Love water blast since late live and Electric Affinity has a lot of pluses. Storm is Storm, a force of nature to be reckoned with. With the proc heavy FF +recharge in various places you can have multiple lightning storms and tornadoes ravaging the field of batttle.
  11. good question, but a separate topic
  12. Bots electric is beast, just sayin'
  13. I have an Ice/Time corruptor that maximizes the holds and slows in both the primary and secondary. Being able to hold nasty targets is definitely a good thing.
  14. I am getting at that it's a rough road to 50 for a nature affinity pre-incarnates without clarion.
  15. My only reply to this is that Clarion does precious little for me at level 49 in a room full of Malta.
  16. I would like nature affinity more if it had some mezz protection in it like FF, sonic, and EA.
  17. Another topic I would add to the lesser known benefits of kinetics is that the siphon speed debuff is IRRESISTIBLE against hard targets, whether that is the -speed and/or the -recharge I will let other historians confirm. This used to be common knowledge on the live boards.
  18. It's not the doctor, but I found Ice Blast to mesh VERY well with the time slows and holds. Hold a boss just for giggles and profit.
  19. Remember, in boss fights, siphon speed slow is IRRESISTIBLE. Carry on.
  20. I have to admit the slow animations of psy blast would drive me nuts on a kinetic
  21. I consider my storm/water my co-main along with my electric affinity/water defender. I really do like water blast. I am focused mainly on grouping with my defenders as I consider defenders to be force multiplier for groups. Some of my COH friends may even refer to me as a task force wh#re. I will pug it up with anyone. I might complain about it later, but I do stick it out. Hurricane definitely works better for my stormies on the ground. My first stormer on live took the combat jump/Super Jump/Acrobat combo for the status resistances in combat jump and acrobatics. I find a lot of kb mitigation in hover on my current storm/water. I use hover primarily for placement of the lightning storm. I also enjoy the flip effect of kb on hover as opposed to the getting off the floor after being knocked down by high mag kb. So in short, I do hover, but very low to the ground for the most part. Second, I am sure you are well aware of the repel and knockback separate effects of hurricane. The kb in hurricane is greatly altered from the pre-enhancement diversification days. In short, NO, hurricane does not become knock down to targets when airborne over their positions. If you look at faraday cage on electric affinity, you can clearly see, it is a sphere. Hurricane depicted as a very flat planar circle around the defender is NOT spherical, (as is steamy mist) but it is not a true planar circle either. Somewhere between your waist where the planar hurricane is visible and your feet (or your head) the hurricane does not affect targets. Third, I would definitely go hover over combat jumping, just for lightning storm placement. If you wanted the status protection in combat jump, you could get both, and the enddrain from running both is minimal, plus you get two LotG +recharge mules. Another consideration is the newly revamped teleport pool. Regular teleport gives you some moments after teleporting where you are UNTOUCHABLE. It might not seem like much, but you do get a small jump on the spawn by just teleporting in and hitting the debuffs. This technique actually works better on my rad/rad defenders, but I suggested it since you said you were mostly solo. The limits to your imagination are the four pool sets you can take on your character. 4. You are not Wind Wench,, whatever that means. 5. I cannot stress enough the wonder of the force feedback +recharge procs in your high chance of KB or KD water powers and storm powers. I would slot forcefeedback +recharge in gale, in your targeted AoE water burst and definitely in tornado. More recharge = more stormy goodness = more lightning storms, = moar tornado carnage. Tornado boosts your recharge every time you cast it, which works wonders on getting moar lightning storms, more chaos, MOAR STORM!!! Good luck with your storm/water!
  22. The OP did say he likes to RP an odd character on Radio missions; therefore the additional -res for the TEAM from his attacks makes the TEAM do more damage.
  23. Again, you have a point, if your insulation absorb is maxxed before hitting the spawn, it's very much like stealthing in and putting up the cage because with either absorb or damage resist your health bar should look good, not so good if you draw aggro with an AoE without either the absorb shield or Faraday Cage. I appreciate the variety in successful tactics that CoH allows experienced players.
  24. Laudwic your point is valid but you can drop pretty fast yourself following that crazy tank or especially that crazy scranker. For your survival, Faraday goes first.
